IIVeaa aka 1Veertje removed a whole table of data
[edit]Objection!!! Why removed the whole table of data in March Against Monsanto without giving people time to more complete it? I spent 7 hours till 04:00 to do it and I had to sleep. Do you really want wikipedia work for the best of all people? Or are you just doing it for your own rules? Do you have stock or funds or interested or know anyone related to Monsanto & alike?? 218.102.187.145 (talk) 00:08, 27 May 2013 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free media (File:NTR_logo_zwart.png)
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:NTR_logo_zwart.png. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Melesse (talk) 10:32, 13 March 2011 (UTC)

Edit Warring at Opera Mobile
[edit] You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Opera Mobile. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
In particular, Wikipedia's policy on edit warring states:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made; that is to say, editors are not automatically "entitled" to three reverts.
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes; work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you continue edit warring, you may be blocked from editing. - SudoGhost 10:44, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
Crying
[edit]Hi, I didn't remove the information on Newborn's crying patterns (as in the paper you linked) - that was still in the article & I was happy with that. I removed the info about Eastern European, African and Asian babies crying more which quoted the Johnson & Johnson study. If you read that one, there was not a word in there to support what was being said. I'll remove it again - but will make sure the french / german pitch information remains. Librivox template
[edit]I don't know if it's just one book but, after the changes you made, the librivox template no longer works for the SM U-28 (Germany) article.
-- Randy2063 (talk) 02:59, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
- It's been a while since I edited that template, but I think my reasoning at the time went something along these lines: very popular works (like the declaration of independence, or the declaration of human rights, or Oscar Wildes stories) have had multiple recordings. They do show up in the search results but you won't know they even excisted if you link directly to one recording. The way the linking was done wasn't a very human think and needed some geeking out before you getting how that template was suppose to work. I did have some plans for encorporating both the highly advanced direct link to a single entry ánd still making it posible to link to search results, but my template tweaking skills aren't that advanced. --IIVeaa (talk) 06:37, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
- You're right that the change needed to be made. Unfortunately, a lot of other links also need to be fixed.
- The good news is that there aren't too many of them. I'll try to get to them later this afternoon if you can't.
- What is the exact syntax?
- -- Randy2063 (talk) 11:45, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
- if you include {{librivox}} it takes the pagename for both the searchterm and the title of the link. parameter 1 is the searchterm, parameter 2 an alternative title.Parameter 3 gives you the option of including the name of the translator. --IIVeaa (talk) 13:05, 23 August 2011 (UTC)
- I fixed them all. Had I known beforehand that only one or two still worked then I'd have reverted your changes and asked that you make a second template. I wish you had tested your changes on more than one or two articles.
- I like the {{librivox}} option, although the problem with that is that a more accurate search usually requires both title and author.
- It would be nice if using it with only one parameter would then get the title from the article title. Right now it seems to use the searchterm as the title.

The article Mikko Hyppönen has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- BLP. One only reference - non reliable source, no others found. Subject does not meet criteria at WP:GNG and WP:BLP
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Kudpung กุดผึ้ง (talk) 09:36, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Nomination of Phil Mason for deletion
[edit]A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Phil Mason is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Phil Mason until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion template from the top of the article. Robofish (talk) 20:25, 31 May 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:YouTube video bloggers
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Category:YouTube video bloggers, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Otterathome (talk) 20:13, 23 June 2012 (UTC)
Some time ago, you suggested splitting this article. There is clear concensus to make the change. Would you be willing to make the change? Op47 (talk) 20:00, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
I removed the copyvio template you placed on this file because it's not a text copyright violation. If you have evidence supporting that it was copied from elsewhere, you should tag it with {{db-f9}}, but I should point out that the source you thought it was copied from was published in 2010, while the image was uploaded here in 2009. It certainly may be a copyright violation, but a clear and convincing source should be found if you wish to nominate for speedy deletion. If no such source can be found, you can always nominate it for deletion just based on your suspicions of copyright violation. Cheers! VernoWhitney (talk) 00:08, 30 August 2012 (UTC)
What is the difference?
[edit]You seem to know about gables. What is the difference between a Dordtse gable and a Crow-stepped gable? Both names are used in the categories here: [1]. If they are the same it is silly to use both categories. Better then to mention in Crow-stepped gable that there is another name. What is your opinion on this? --VanBurenen (talk) 16:29, 16 January 2013 (UTC)
- Dordtse gables used to be the final exam for a master mason in Dordrecht. It's a subtype of stepped gable, in that it usually features docorated ancors, has clover leaves in the arches above the windows --Vera (talk) 16:36, 16 January 2013 (UTC)

Your question about Google Maps on Tool Labs
[edit]Hi Vera!
At Wikimania, you asked if it's okay to use Google Maps in tools on Tool Labs. I don't know if you follow either mail:labs-l or mail:toolserver-l. Here is a summary of the discussion: http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/toolserver-l/2013-August/006251.html Bottomline: Give examples! What does the tool do exactly? Cheers, Silke WMDE (talk) 13:37, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi! My app has been approved to be published on Labs here. I've been having so trouble publishing my app there though, partially because of lack of time. I got SFTP working this weekend though!.
- My app doesn't point users to Google Maps, it uses its API under the hood to gather geocoordinates to add these to lists of municipal monuments. I could put a checkbox at the starting page that confirms people agree to the terms of use? --Vera (talk) 13:49, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Edit warring to insert original research
[edit]Your recent editing history at List_of_unusual_deaths shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. You can post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Please revert yourself [2]
In addition to edit warring, you are violating policy by reinserting content without providing appropriate sources. It is not allowed for you to make the interpretation that a building falling down is "unusual" and the source you are providing does not make that claim. You cannot make assertions about the intent of the publishers. Maybe they included it because it was "unusual", but it could just as easily be because it was a slow news day, or because they thought the picture was cool or because the victim was a relative of a friend and they wanted to pay homage. See the talk page of the article where the community has re-affirmed that the policies apply to the article content. -- TRPoD aka The Red Pen of Doom 00:59, 13 December 2013 (UTC)

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. Speedy deletion nomination of Den Haag (disambiguation)
[edit]A tag has been placed on Den Haag (disambiguation) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G6 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an orphaned disambiguation page which either
- disambiguates two or fewer extant Wikipedia pages and whose title ends in "(disambiguation)" (i.e., there is a primary topic); or
- disambiguates no (zero) extant Wikipedia pages, regardless of its title.
Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such pages may be deleted at any time. Please see the disambiguation page guidelines for more information.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. <<< SOME GADGET GEEK >>> (talk) 23:05, 23 December 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:15, 4 August 2018 (UTC)

When you were adding content to the page, you added duplicate arguments to a template which can cause issues with how the template is rendered. A formula for the calculation of the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. See User:RonBot for info on how to not get these messages. [edit]Re Watchmen ep5
[edit]I understand where you are coming from in calling what Wade/LG went through as "sexual assault" but that is original research in context of the episode and sources. I looked to see if any RS called it that, and the closest I found was [3] which Lindelof explains what the scene was to be - a young person scared about sex, not someone that was sexually assaulted, that coupled with the big attack, caused trauma for life. You need to find multiple RSes that consider that scene to be one of sexual assault to make that case. --Masem (t) 15:13, 20 November 2019 (UTC)
Google Code-In 2019 is coming - please mentor some documentation tasks!
[edit]Hello,
Google Code-In, Google-organized contest in which the Wikimedia Foundation participates, starts in a few weeks. This contest is about taking high school students into the world of opensource. I'm sending you this message because you recently edited a documentation page at the English Wikipedia.
I would like to ask you to take part in Google Code-In as a mentor. That would mean to prepare at least one task (it can be documentation related, or something else - the other categories are Code, Design, Quality Assurance and Outreach) for the participants, and help the student to complete it. Please sign up at the contest page and send us your Google account address to google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org, so we can invite you in!
From my own experience, Google Code-In can be fun, you can make several new friends, attract new people to your wiki and make them part of your community.
If you have any questions, please let us know at google-code-in-admins@lists.wikimedia.org.
Thank you!

Disambiguation link notification for December 11
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Marcus Papadopoulos, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page John Woodcock (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)
It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 08:48, 11 December 2019 (UTC)
Oliver Laxe technical move
[edit]After seeing the objection, I've declined the technical move of Oliver Laxe to the accented version. When a person deserves an article due to their work in a professional field, it is normal to see by what name they are usually referred to in that setting. It is hard to see many sources for the Óliver spelling. If you still believe the move is desirable, you can open a WP:Requested move on the article talk page. Speedy deletion nomination of File:POfrontPage.jpg
[edit]A tag has been placed on File:POfrontPage.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. CptViraj (talk) 15:16, 13 June 2020 (UTC)
The file File:David O'Doherty - SYTYF.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Poor quality file that is orphaned and would have no obvious value in transferring to Commons
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Salavat (talk) 07:53, 12 September 2020 (UTC)

[edit]Cite Unseen update
[edit]Hello! Thank you for using Cite Unseen. The script recently received a significant update, detailed below.
- You can now toggle which icons you do or don't want to see. See the configuration section for details. All icons are enabled by default except for the new generally reliable icon (described below).
- New categorizations/icons:
- Advocacy: Organizations that are engaged in advocacy (anything from political to civil rights to lobbying). Note that an advocacy group can be reliable; this indicator simply serves to note when a source's primary purpose is to advocate for certain positions or policies, which is important to keep in mind when consuming a source.
- Editable: Sites that are editable by the public, such as wikis (Wikipedia, Fandom) or some databases (IMDb, Discogs).
- Predatory journals: These sites charge publication fees to authors without checking articles for quality and legitimacy.
- Perennial source categories: Cite Unseen will mark sources as generally reliable, marginally reliable, generally unreliable, deprecated, and blacklisted. This is based on Wikipedia's perennial sources list, which reflects community consensus on frequently discussed sources. Sources that have multiple categorizations are marked as varied reliability. Note that generally reliable icons are disabled by default to reduce clutter, but you can enable them through your custom config. A special thanks to Newslinger, whose new Sourceror API provides the perennial sources list in a clean, structured format.
- With the addition of the new categorizations, the biased source icon has been removed. This category was very broad, and repetitive to the new advocacy and perennial sources categorizations that are more informative.
If you have any feedback, requested features, or domains to add/remove, don't hesitate to bring it up on the script's talk page. Thank you! ~SuperHamster Talk Contribs 23:23, 20 December 2020 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Category:Heritage registers in Sint Maarten
[edit]A tag has been placed on Category:Heritage registers in Sint Maarten requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the category has been empty for seven days or more and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion.
ABA lead
[edit]Hi! I noticed you added some information to the lead. I do not see an inconsistency with that information and what is already in the lead so I kept it. I have added back language that was removed by you, as since this page has been the subject of many editing controversies for years, it was widely decided by editors of the page that any alterations to pre-existing language in the lead have consensus first.
Please note discussions about the lead last year. The current version has been extensively litigated and it was decided that editors seeking to change the lead should seek consensus first. That is what I was referring to. Please seek this course of action over unilateral changes that are more likely to cause discord rather than mutual agreement.
Talk:Applied behavior analysis/Archive 4 Barbarbarty (talk) 01:46, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- If you are concerned about potential minimizations of ABA disputes in the field of psychology, would something proper to you be like: “particularly in the autism rights movement and among psychologists”? Barbarbarty (talk) 06:32, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- I don't understand why you can't accept that it is controversial - full stop. People are subjected to it by psychologists and there is a sizable group of psychologists who have shown it to be ineffective, harmful and based on an outdated understanding of autism. (the Dutch HHS report also concluded this). Understandably this has lead to autism rights movements mobilizing to protect autistic kids from being subjected to it. The autism rights movement isn't the cause or the scope of where the controversy resides. 1Veertje (talk) 11:20, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- I accept it is controversial in certain sectors, but I cannot see it as an issue that is viewed as “controversial” in the general, universal sense. There have been disputes over the language in the lead regarding whether past manifestations are too favorable or critical of ABA, and this topic specifically was extensively litigated last year and other times before that. Would a compromise for you be something like “ABA is considered controversial, particularly within the autism rights movement”? That language specifies the autism rights movement, but also leaves room for other areas where ABA is considered controversial. There is also much discussion on psychologic critiques of ABA in the section of the article pertaining to its use in “treating” autism. Please feel free to add to that section if you feel it is insufficient. Barbarbarty (talk) 22:38, 23 May 2024 (UTC)
- It is irrelevant what other sectors other than the field of psychology don't consider it controversial. It is controversial - full stop. Just because you want to drag this discussion out for some reason doesn't mean it's a valid discussion. 1Veertje (talk) 07:00, 24 May 2024 (UTC)
- I’m sorry but your argument is simply not convincing. I’m not “dragging” out the conversation, but you seem to not be interested in an actual resolution. You seem unwilling to reach any compromise, and all I am saying is that when this was discussed in the past on the article’s talk page, other users also did not find convincing evidence of what you are saying. If you would like to open a RfC or other mechanism to gather consensus to change the lead, please feel free. However, until then, I simply feel it is best to keep the status quo for the lead until we get more eyes on the article. Barbarbarty (talk) 15:04, 24 May 2024 (UTC)

Notice of Edit Warring
[edit]Your recent editing history shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war; that means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be, when you have seen that other editors disagree. To resolve the content dispute, please do not revert or change the edits of others when you are reverted. Instead of reverting, please use the talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. The best practice at this stage is to discuss, not edit-war; read about how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.
Being involved in an edit war can result in you being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you do not violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.
