Talk to me
Leave a message here. - Hydroxonium (talk) 05:24, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
Thanks for your work on the Caleb Schaber page. I have several links that I'd like to add including the last blog that we started on March 29, 2009 together. But I'm new to Wikipedia so I'm going to read around a bit first before making any changes to your excellent work.
DebProthero (talk) 01:24, 2 July 2010 (UTC)
- Sorry for the late reply. I was more than happy to start an article about Caleb Schaber as he was certainly "worthy of notice", which is one of Wikipedia's criteria for starting an article. Please feel free to update and change the article as much as you like as I am not good at grammar, phrasing, punctuation and all other things required of a writer. To be honest, I would love to see the entire article rewritten as I cringe when I read my own writing.
- Just a quick note about privacy. Wikipedia is a very public place, which can have a down side. One example might be a person working on an article about cancer being denied a job because the employer might think they have a pre-existing medical condition. There are many other reasons to consider privacy when working on articles at Wikipedia. I think you have been through enough already and some of the folks in the burner community did not help in my opinion. So you may want to consider re-signing up to Wikipedia with a more generic user name. You may also wish to invite others to help with the article because if it's just you and me working on it, people could put 2 and 2 together. Also, I can have all of our conversation here removed from Wikpedia if you are concerned about your privacy. Just leave a note here and I'll take care of it.
- Thanks very much for stopping by and please take care of yourself. - Hydroxonium (talk) 15:49, 9 July 2010 (UTC)
Welcome
Hello Hydroxonium, and welcome to Wikipedia. I hope that you have enjoyed contributing and want to stick around. Here are some tips to help you get started:
- Learn the basics by reading the introduction and taking the tutorial.
- Remember to sign messages on talk pages by typing four tildes (~~~~) to automatically insert your username and the date.
- Enjoy editing to improve articles, but try to leave an edit summary to explain what you are doing.
- Create your first article using the Article Wizard to help avoid common mistakes, which may lead to article deletion.
- Although you don't need to be familiar with all of Wikipedia's policies, try to keep to the core principles and basic guidelines.
- When dealing with fellow Wikipedians, please remain polite, solve problems calmly, and remember that no-one is out to get you.
- Get involved with the community by joining a WikiProject.
- Make any test edits in the sandbox or click here and create a sandbox of your own.
- If you are having diffculty, consider finding a mentor to give you more personal advice.
- If in doubt, be bold. If you make a mistake, it can easily be reverted.
If you need any more information, plenty of help is available - check out Wikipedia:Questions; ask your question here and attract help with the code {{helpme}}
; or leave me a message on my talk page explaining your problem and I will help as best as I can. Again, welcome! strdst_grl (call me Stardust) 08:31, 22 May 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks - Hydroxonium (talk) 05:53, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Speedy deletion nomination of Hydroxonium/sandbox 1
Thank you for experimenting with Wikipedia. Your test worked, and the page that you created has been or soon will be deleted. Please use the sandbox for any other tests you want to do. Take a look at the welcome page if you would like to learn more about contributing to our encyclopedia. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag - if no such tag exists then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hangon tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the page does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the page or have a copy emailed to you. ttonyb (talk) 04:56, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- Regarding the speedy delete. I did not realize that creating a sandbox -- with a small test -- in my userspace would trip a filter. I will be more careful in the future. Thanks for the input. - Hydroxonium (talk) 05:58, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
- OK, this is my mistake. I can see now that the sandbox was not created in my userspace. I mistakenly believed the "click here" link -- in the welcome message above from strdst_grl -- was a prpoerly formatted link to my userspace. I can see now that it is not. I should have checked it before clicking it. - Hydroxonium (talk) 06:14, 27 May 2010 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image File:Caleb-Schaber-and-Monolith.jpg
Thanks for uploading File:Caleb-Schaber-and-Monolith.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Image Screening Bot (talk) 21:36, 21 June 2010 (UTC)
- Hello, Image Screening Bot. I'm glad to see you are on the job. But I'm more happy to see that DASHBot comes behind you and fixes your mistakes. - Hydroxonium (talk) 01:48, 22 June 2010 (UTC)
International Decision Systems
Hello Hydroxonium! I would appreciate if you could help me with International Decision System wiki. It keeps on getting deleted and now only administrators can edit the page. You said that the wiki was acceptable and I followed the article guidelines. However, Kimchi deleted it and blocked it saying it was not a notable company, which is far from true. Please help :)

Klaatu, Barada, something something
Hi, I responded to your comments on the KBN talk page. Basically, if you have any relevant info for the article, don't be afraid to add it.
I'm not trying to act as guardian of the article, don't worry about that. For the most part I was keeping the list of examples of the use of the phrase down to a minimum, not letting the trivia run riot. WikiuserNI (talk) 15:48, 15 July 2010 (UTC)

Thanks
Thank you for the barnstar! However, there are a couple of things I would like to point out. First, there is no such thing as a 'ranking' on Wikipedia. You see, reviewer is just a simple right that lets your edits visible immediately on WP:PEND pages. A rollbacker is just a person who is trusted with recent changes patrol - I daresay you can start patrolling right now, and get the right in a couple of days. The autopatrolled right is just for people trusted with creating new articles, which again is not particularly difficult to reach. Another thing I want to point else is that when I patrolled the page, I was using WP:KSL, which spots minor mistakes and typos in articles for me, so I almost didn't do anything to your page. I did not really check it for any higher standards than basic notability. (Sorry to disappoint you. :P) Kayau Voting IS evil 14:14, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply, Kayau. You did much more than you think. That is why you got the "Your Opinion is More Important than You Think" barnstar. Getting past WP:CSD, WP:AFD. WP:PROD and WP:NOTE is very important to me. Your opinion matters. Thanks. - Hydroxonium (talk | contribs) 05:16, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Barnstar
I really appreciate the barnstar but... what exactly did I do? :P --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 22:31, 23 July 2010 (UTC)
- Thanks for the reply, Skamecrazy123. You patrolled new articles and mine was one of them... and it didn't get tagged with anything. I'm sure you get mean messages from people when you tag new articles. So you should get nice message when you don't tag articles (articles that are within Wikipedias policies and guidelines). You are doing a good job. So thanks for helping Wikipedia, because it... er... helps Wikipedia... Yeah. ;) - Hydroxonium (talk | contribs) 05:29, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- Well, from what I could see, there was no problem with the article, so I was happy to let it go at that. As I said though, I really appreciate the Barnstar :D --Skamecrazy123 (talk) 10:47, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Klaatu Barada Etc
Since you've done so much work on that article, is there any chance you might nominate it for the "Did you know" section on the front page? I'm not sure how it works exactly, but I think the gist is that anyone who significantly expands and/or improves an article by themselves can nominate a snippet of information from it for appearance on the front page.
Check it out, you never know. WikiuserNI (talk) 10:04, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I don't know how it works either, but I will certainly look in to it. BTW, I just left a message about having the article reassessed. Thanks for your input, it is much appreciated. - Hydroxonium (talk | contribs) 10:17, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
- I just checked and the article fails the 2 main criteria for inclusion. articles that have been created, or expanded fivefold or more, within the last 5 days I only expanded the article by 2 fold and I've been working on it for 11 days. But I will certainly remember this for the future. Thanks. - Hydroxonium (talk | contribs) 10:33, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:Jack-Horkheimer-Star-Hustler-Opening-Credits.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Jack-Horkheimer-Star-Hustler-Opening-Credits.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Acather96 (talk) 17:41, 29 August 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Acather96. I have added a fair use rationale and the other requirements to File:Jack-Horkheimer-Star-Hustler-Opening-Credits.jpg. Could you please review the file page to see if it is a valid fair use. If it is valid fair use, could you please remove the {{di-no fair use rationale}} tag please? ICON books
Just to let you know that ICON books are reprints of material from Wikipedia and hence should not be used as Wikipedia references. That's why the link at an AFD, such as http://books.google.com/books?as_brr=0&as_pub=-icon&q=%22Lars+Pearson%22 generated by Template:Find sources, has as_pub=-icon and shows up as "Lars Pearson" -inpublisher:icon. I just found your userpage. We haven't interacted much with each other lately, but I haven't forgotten you. I am sure you have your reasons for leaving and I respect that decision. I try to say to myself it doesn't matter and someone else will eventually take your place, but it is a lie. I won't forget you.
With the best wishes for wherever the great river of life will take you. Good luck.
