Nashville edits 2010-09-27

I would disagree that the data on sunshine hours constitutes a "group of extraneous stuff"; you did not really provide any other reason for removal other than that. I have added such data on many pages with no opposition, except for one exception. I ask that you restore it, instead of me reverting; I hate edit wars due to mere data. Thank you. PS: I'm going to watch your page. No need for anyone, esp. the two of us, to play table tennis.

On another note: though I am not familiar with the MOS here, it states that for negativity, en-dashes should be used, not the "-" sign. --HXL 何献龙 01:26, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Regarding the negatives, I agree completely, but for the sake of continuity and style, we should use the minus sign, since that is what the template is coded to use. Otherwise it looks bizarre and even more unprofessional with two different negative signs appearing side by side. As for sunshine hours, I have no problem with restoring that. I just felt there was way too much stuff. Huntster (t @ c) 04:35, 7 October 2010 (UTC)
thanks for the restoration. yet there are many city articles, mostly Canadian, that have even larger boxes. superfluousness is less of a factor if the table is hidden by default, as I see it. and WRT the negatives, there is a sign that looks like the simple dash but will show display at the proper length; moreover, you can see the diff in the edit diff. For an example, see Template:Beijing weatherbox. If I misgauged what you wrote, please let me know. --HXL 何献龙 22:44, 7 October 2010 (UTC)

Template request

Hi, I noticed that when you joined WP:CURLING you mentioned to come to you for help with templates and what not. The problem that we are facing is with Template:curlingbox . Some curling events only have 8 ends, as opposed to the normal 10 ends. Unfortunately, the box shows all 10 ends, and the last two can't be removed. I've tried tinkering with it before with no success, I wonder if you might be able to help? -- Earl Andrew - talk 13:32, 7 November 2010 (UTC)

Ok, no problem. I'll probably remind you in a few weeks then if you forget. -- Earl Andrew - talk 04:35, 8 November 2010 (UTC)

MU Nashville

When you get a moment, would you stop by the Nashville MU page and pick a month that works for you? Thanks! -- SatyrTN (talk / contribs) 00:13, 10 November 2010 (UTC)

Notable residents section

Regarding your comments in [1]: "we no longer include "famous resident" sections". WHo is "we", and when/where did "we" decide this, and what is the scope of the decision (Nasville article only, all US city articles, etc.) - BilCat (talk) 01:10, 29 November 2010 (UTC)

I was using "we" as a whole for the site; as far as I know, the consensus against notable resident sections has been in place for quite a long time, though I cannot point to the specific conversation. I know at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Tennessee, while wholesale removal of notable residents is not desired, it does seem to be the case that if someone is to be noted, any such mentions should provide evidence that the person strongly influenced that town. For a place like Nashville, this becomes increasingly difficult, compared to a notable person from a small town like Jellico (one of the examples provided in the WT:WPTN thread). I admit I was too brief in my statement in the edit summary, but I strongly disagree that either Cyrus or Kesha have strongly impacted Nashville as a whole. Yes, they are internationally popular, but that's a very different thing from the town inheriting notability *because* they are from there, which is how I interpret such sections as being meant for. Promenade Deck on Oasis Class ships

Hi Huntster, I just figured out how to leave a message on someone else's talk page. I also just found out that the promenade deck is counted as two decks. Promenade Deck (one) and promenade mezzanine.(two) It looks as tall as deck 18 in all the pictures. If you look at interior pictures of Oasis or Allure, You will see 2 decks. Capt.
