Question about your username/snack food?

I'm curious as to whether or not you like hickory sticks. In case you've never heard of them, they're thin potato strips (chips, maybe?). I'm not sure how to describe them, really. It probably has nothing to do with your username, but it's what I thought of when I read it. Clovermoss (talk) 01:11, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

@Clovermoss: That is one of the more interesting takes on my username. I have never heard of hickory sticks before today but would now love to try them. Back in high school, every student was given a unique password as their school login. This was mine. I chose to use it because of its anonymity. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:15, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
Well, if you do end up trying them, let me know what you think. My school board also has unique passwords for students, but mine definitely isn't something that would make a great username. I came up with this username by combining the first two words I thought of together, which at the time, were 'clover' and 'moss'. Clovermoss (talk) 14:20, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Lloyd Pollock DYK

What do you find interesting at Lloyd Pollock? Any thoughts for DYK hooks? Thanks. Flibirigit (talk) 19:31, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

Wow, Flibirigit this article is just boasting with DYKs. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 20:31, 2 July 2019 (UTC)
  • ALT: ..that Lloyd Pollock's fledgling Windsor Spitfires attracted a crowd of 4,062 during their first game in 1946, despite losing 15-0?
  • ..that Canadian ice hockey administrator and businessmen Lloyd Pollock attended the inaugural meeting to found the International Hockey League (IHL)
  • ...that Canadian ice hockey administrator and businessmen Lloyd Pollock was called "one of the greatest things that ever happened to Windsor athletics"

Thanks for the suggestions. Sometimes an outsider's view is best. I will finish the nomination by tomorrow. Flibirigit (talk) 21:03, 2 July 2019 (UTC)

article writing

heyy can you please write an article for me, i am a teen security researcher — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sayaanalam (talkcontribs) 13:11, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi Sayaanalam and welcome to Wikipedia. All articles on Wikipedia need to pass our notability criteria which means multiple independent sources discuss a subject. At this time, I don’t think you qualify for a page on Wikipedia. I suggest checking the WP:Community portal for ideas on how to contribute to this encyclopedia and stop spamming links to your Instagram. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 13:15, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

Suppresion

Please suppress the edit (summaries) of any edit made at User talk:Sydneynugget with A's on a black background in the edit summaries.194.223.60.199 (talk) 09:22, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

(talk page stalker)The background of the "A"s is red on my browser, and although annoying wouldn't qualify for revdel. The edits might, as purely disruptive. It's just juvenile bullshit. IP, if you are following this, please email oversight at en.wikipedia.org (formatting it correctly using the @, of course) to request revdel. You shouldn't post it in the open for nosy others like me to look at. Thanks. John from Idegon (talk) 10:07, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
I would rather not email them. Just not comfortable. PS I've added Talk page stalker for your message as this message is not on your talk page. Yes I do know about not posting it here but honestly it seems as though any admin can do this action.194.223.60.199 (talk) 10:29, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
Hi IP and welcome to my talk page. Unfortunately, John from Idegon is correct. These edit summaries wouldn’t qualify for revdel even if they are annoying.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 11:57, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
But isn't there a chance that what you described using swearing could be applied to what really undergoes revdel?194.223.60.199 (talk) 12:13, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
Sorry could you clarify what you mean. Do you mean if the edit summaries had swear words it could be revdel’d? What qualifies for revision deletion is located at Wikipedia:Revision deletion. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 13:02, 6 July 2019 (UTC)
I said that you used swearing to describe what I wanted revdelled. I think the IP was trying to attack the user whose talk page it was. Most attacks aren't this bad.194.223.60.199 (talk) 22:42, 6 July 2019 (UTC)

Devta

I am not sure why you are reverting my changes. I am adding critical review of the novel after reading all its volumes but for some reasons you keep removing my changes. I am not trying to do anything stupid. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qadhusuk (talkcontribs) 23:07, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi Qadhusuk and welcome to my talk page. I would never, and have never, implied your additions were stupid, just that they didn't follow policy. Firstly, Wikipedia isn't meant for you to add your personal view as one would in a blog or essay. What your edits included was something called original research, which means you are adding a personal opinion without back up from sources. Everything on Wikipedia must a) be verifiable and b) neutral. Content such as "Story get more rubbish when lot of politics gets involved" and "I think Nawab sb never travelled in a plane" are not acceptable for Wikipedia articles. I hope this helps. I also suggest visiting the friendly WP:TEAHOUSE if you have more questions. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:11, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

Dear Sir

only first 2 lines are and last line is my view but others are mentioning of blunders in this novel. I have mentioned where things were told wrong. If you don't like them then i will not add. I am sure these are useful for readers who want to read this story. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Qadhusuk (talkcontribs) 23:16, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

Hi Qadhusuk, I am not sure if you understood what I meant. Wikipedia only publishes what is already out there in sources. Publishing opinions without sources backing them back are not acceptable, even if you think it is helpful to the reader. For example, check out a critical review of Harry Potter on its Wiki page. Notice how it uses neutral language, opinions, and reliable sources? That is a way to write a critical review on Wikipedia. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:20, 13 July 2019 (UTC)

DYK help at Amy Wax

Hey Hickory, I know you like writing about academics and professors. I thought you might be able to help at Template:Did you know nominations/Amy Wax. If you could propose some alternate hooks for Amy Wax, that would be awesome. Thanks!

Thanks for the heads up Flibirigit, I’ll look into it. I should also be posting 1/2 articles on the Russians soon. Hopefully tonight. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:39, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
Thanks, and no rush. We both seem to have slowed down a bit in the summer. Flibirigit (talk) 21:42, 22 July 2019 (UTC)
