Barrie Colts arena name

Do you have time to follow-up at Barrie Molson Centre? It was discussed here, but nobody got around to it. Btw, I'm close to finishing an essay that is taking up 99% of my time. Flibirigit (talk) 15:36, 11 October 2019 (UTC)

I just added citations to the article. I am unsure if you wanted me to move the article but I would wait until a sponsor is found. And take your time, write a great essay . HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 17:57, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
Your update looks great as is. There didn't appear to be a move consensus when discussed. Thanks again. Flibirigit (talk) 18:24, 11 October 2019 (UTC)
FYI, the arena's renaming and corresponding Wiki article move are complete. Flibirigit (talk) 19:55, 30 November 2019 (UTC)

re:

Well as a Carolina Hurricanes fan, I know what we call him. We sometimes call him "Mr. Bo-Time" because he is a top power-play scorer. If you are unaware, the morning after the Carolina Hurricanes score a goal on the power-play, you go into a participating Bojangles' and say "I'm a caniac, and it's bo-time" to receive a free bo-berry biscuit. I may have made edits in the past that are acts of vandalism but were only meant as a joke. This, however, is true. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Bentheswimmer11 (talkcontribs) 22:55, 3 December 2019 (UTC)

DYK for Rick Cluff

On 4 December 2019, Did you know was updated with a fact from the article Rick Cluff, which you recently created, substantially expanded, or brought to good article status. The fact was ... that radio host Rick Cluff (pictured) accepted a position at the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation despite his father's belief it was "full of left-wing communists" and that radio was "a dead-end career"? The nomination discussion and review may be seen at Template:Did you know nominations/Rick Cluff. You are welcome to check how many page hits the article got while on the front page (here's how, Rick Cluff), and it may be added to the statistics page if the total is over 5,000. Finally, if you know of an interesting fact from another recently created article, then please feel free to suggest it on the Did you know talk page.

Sloane Skylar Page Deletion

Hello, I'm contacting you on behalf of Sloane Skylar, an artist I represent. I noticed that the page I recently created for my client was deleted - I would like to know the reason why and what adjustments can be made to make the page public again. Thank you. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sloanecrowdsurf (talkcontribs) 03:30, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi Sloanecrowdsurf and welcome to Wikipedia. There are a few items that need to be noted here. Firstly, you must not edit without disclosing any financial connections you have per our Wikimedia Terms of Use. You can post such a mandatory disclosure to your user page. Secondly, your best bet would be to walk away. Us volunteer editors often resent that paid or conflict of interest editors write non-neutrally, displaying obvious bias toward themselves or their clients, and write promotionally. A neutral point of view is one of the five pillars of Wikipedia, and is non-negotiable. All of your edits are being added to promote your client. The encyclopedia is here for knowledge, it isn't here to be used as a personal website. If you really want to follow our guidelines please review the following pages: WP:NPOV, WP:RS, and WP:Notability. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 04:26, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Staala gwaii

Noticed you had marked the Staala gwaii article for speedy deletion.

Fair enough.

I have uploaded a new version, just as something to start building on, and am concerned it may be marked for deletion again. This creature is a unique relict species, and deserves its own wikipedia entry. Is there any other reason this page would be marked for deletion again?

Thank you for your patience as I begin to participate more by starting new articles and familiarize myself more with the systems and rules of wikipedia content creation. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Shoutsofvictory (talkcontribs) 18:55, 4 December 2019 (UTC)

Near Field Communication

Hey, HickoryOughtShirt?4.

I'm pretty new to this so I apologise if I haven't provided any reputable citations.

I've added some pretty genuine use cases for Near Field Communication in my contributions and I imagine that there would be many who could benefit from this knowledge. Additionally, I have also contributed additional information to the timeline which reflects major events relating to NFC technology, namely - "September 2018 - Apple released the iPhone XR, iPhone XS and iPhone XS MAX. Prior to these, iPhone's were not able to natively read NFC Tags. Since the iPhone XS release, Apple has enabled native reading of NDEF format NFC Tags without any apps."

I do confirm affiliation with Neuroe, however, I mention Neuroe specifically because there is no other, easily accessible, online platform that offers an easy marketing solution to NFC. As an end-user, if I was considering using NFC for marketing, I personally would think that it may be too hard to understand or implement, nor have the correct tools to be able to implement. There is a genuine disadvantage for those interested in understanding how they can use this if it is not mentioned.

I find the information I have added to be resourceful to the reader and hope for you to reconsider if I am able to provide a more reputable citation.

Regards,

Neuroe NFC (talk) 01:57, 10 December 2019 (UTC) — Preceding unsigned comment added by Neuroe NFC (talkcontribs) 01:54, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi Neuroe NFC and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you so much for disclosing your conflict of interest. Please make sure to also do it on your userpage (the red link where your username is) and on Talk:Near Field Communication per our Wikimedia Terms of Use. Here is the main issue; besides the content being unsourced it was very promotional. Please suggest edits on Talk:Near Field Communication using WP:Edit requests. This is the only way the Wiki community is comfortable with COI editors. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:00, 10 December 2019 (UTC)

Hello

I don't understand why you deleted the page I was working on. LansdowneClub2313 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 20:09, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

Hi LansdowneClub2313 and welcome to Wikipedia. I know it can be disappointing to have an article delete but there were no sources and it seems like a run-of-the-mill club. Don't be discouraged, making articles is tougher than it seems. I didn't make my first article until I was editing for months. Before making a new article, I recommend checking out The Wikipedia Adventure and WP:YFA. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 21:12, 1 November 2019 (UTC)

Yes, I was just basing it off another article that was very similar. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Adelaide_Club LansdowneClub2313 (talk) —Preceding undated comment added 02:15, 2 November 2019 (UTC)

Right, that makes sense but in the first sentence it explains its significance and notability. They also have various in-depth sources. If you wish to re-create this article, I strongly recommend going through Help:Your first article. However, as stated earlier, making pages is more difficult than it looks. I recommend checking out the Wikipedia:Community portal to get more experience. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 02:18, 2 November 2019 (UTC)

Departed2502, Well you are very clearly the same user as ReutersAgency, and Derek Bowler works with/alongside Reuters. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:25, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

I've no idea what you are talking about. I was adding his profile as he has been in the local press in Midleton. Nothing to do with anyone else — Preceding unsigned comment added by Departed2502 (talkcontribs) 22:29, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

Again, you are very clearly ReutersAgency or a friend of theirs. This would be a very large coincidence that after I block ReutersAgency for a promotional username you come along and add the exact same material. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:32, 29 November 2019 (UTC)

EnergyWatch LLC Deletion 2.0

Hi there, thanks for working diligently to keep Wikipedia true. I noticed you deleted my page EnergyWatch, LLC for the second time. Did you read the full article? It states facts and is not promoting the business. I would like to ask what the difference is between it and a page like this one, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EnergyCAP ? Both are not promoting a business but stating facts about a software. Please advise if there are specific changes that can be made to keep it up? Its been entirely rewritten since the last time. Thank you very much.

As I explained to the IP above, you may want to look at WP:CORP which tells you about the criteria all corporations must pass to have a Wiki article. I also recommend checking out WP:YFA for guidance. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 18:36, 19 November 2019 (UTC)
As well Nicolettebrenden, you have a very clear conflict of interest with this organization. Please be advised that no one owns this page, you do not have a right to dictate what is written on it (unless it violates our biography of a living person policy) and your best bet would be to walk away. Us volunteer editors often resent that paid or conflict of interest editors write non-neutrally, displaying obvious bias toward themselves or their clients, and write promotionally. A neutral point of view is one of the five pillars of Wikipedia, and is non-negotiable. All of your edits (besides being unsourced) are being added to promote yourself. The encyclopedia is here for knowledge, it isn't here to be used as a personal website.HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 18:39, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

The piece did have sources, and it was rewritten without bias. Can you answer the question about what was the difference in it and the linked page I sent? Thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Nicolettebrenden (talkcontribs) 18:43, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

@Nicolettebrenden:, The majority of the page was unsourced. Large amounts of text were unsourced and what was sourced was to primary sources. To prove notability you must used third party sources. Please be advised that WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. You are also editing without disclosing your conflict of interest which does exist. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 18:45, 19 November 2019 (UTC)

Adding Information on Wikipedia article is COI

In December 2017, Prezzee appointed Cliff Rosenberg to its board.[1]

is above information is promotional or indicating that this is COI. Why are you reverting my edits? Please clarify! 2405:204:122F:EDD7:D5E9:3CE4:91AE:1F2B (talk) 09:03, 8 December 2019 (UTC)
Hi IP and JustanWave and welcome to Wikipedia. I don't know what that link leads you to, but to me it just leads to a page about subscribing. As well, it is beyond just that information. This article was created in violation of our Wikimedia Terms of Use. Did you know that if you have any financial connection whatsoever with this organization you must WP:DISCLOSE it per our Wikimedia Terms of Use? Going over an article for suitability

Hey, HickoryOughtShirt?4 !

Would you be able to go over my article I recently added to (edited and added and translated information) and give me feedback on it?

Thanks, Frasererin01

P.S. Please be aware that I do not know how to get rid of the link down below as I am still fairly new :P

Deleted article "Kriter"

Dear HickoryOughtShirt?4, is it possible to recover the article "Kriter" you have deleted recently? We have the owner permissions of the text that created copyright problems but we were not aware that it is still published on another page (who we gave permission previously to copy it). To avoid copyright problems we would like to change the passage and write it in different words. Thank you! SailingRegina (talk) 08:54, 18 December 2019 (UTC)

SailingRegina I believe the article is still in your sandbox (User:SailingRegina/sandbox). HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 09:02, 18 December 2019 (UTC)

Ah yes, your right! We'll continue adding it there. Thank you! It will be possible to publish it again later, no? --SailingRegina (talk) 11:39, 18 December 2019 (UTC)

If you fix the issues you can submit it for review. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 23:28, 19 December 2019 (UTC)

Damon Runyon's short story "Dancing Dan's Christmas" is a fun read if you have the time. Right from the start it extols the virtues of the hot Tom and Jerry

This hot Tom and Jerry is an old-time drink that is once used by one and all in this country to celebrate Christmas with, and in fact it is once so popular that many people think Christmas is invented only to furnish an excuse for hot Tom and Jerry, although of course this is by no means true.

No matter what concoction is your favorite to imbibe during this festive season I would like to toast you with it and to thank you for all your work here at the 'pedia this past year. Best wishes for your 2020 as well H. MarnetteD|Talk 11:41, 18 December 2019 (UTC)

Deleted article "National Youth Concert Band of Great Britain"

Dear HickoryOughtShirt?4, is it possible to recover the article "National Youth Concert Band of Great Britain" you have deleted recently? I believe that the ensemble is just as notable and significant as fellow organisations which have Wikipedia pages such as National Youth Wind Ensemble and National Children's Wind Ensemble. Thank you! RickstaDaBest123 (talk) 22:12, 19 December 2019 (UTC)

I suggest working on it in your sandbox. The only references was a tweet and their own website. Please be advised that creating articles is very hard for new editors. I suggest editing elsewhere to get a feel of how articles are written. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:52, 19 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi again

Hi, it's me, Clovermoss. Editing Jeanne Sauvé Memorial Cup and your sandbox for improvements has been on my to-do list for awhile, and I feel bad that I haven't furfilled my end of the teamwork thing. I'm on Christmas break now, so I have two weeks off, and since my search for online sources hasn't yielded as much as I would have liked, I plan to visit my local library soon. Clovermoss (talk) 01:24, 22 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi Clovermoss, and thanks for the ping. I’ll check out stuff when I get back from vacation. Don’t worry, there’s no rush on this. Take your time. I appreciate your willingness to do off-wiki research. Maybe look at Wikipedia:List of online newspaper archives. We will make a great article . Edits to the Jennifer Freyd page

Hello,

I am trying to update Jennifer Freyd's page because the cited research is out of date and the page overall needs improvement (the existing writing is weak, and Freyd has published many new and better articles since it was last updated). I do not have a conflict of interest. But it looks like my updates are not being accepted. I would appreciate any feedback on how I can continue to improve the page.

Thank you! — Preceding unsigned comment added by CourageAllies (talkcontribs) 22:02, 22 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi CourageAllies and welcome to Wikipedia. Are you in any way affiliated with Institutional Courage? HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:07, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
CourageAllies, Please do not create a new section and instead reply here. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:09, 22 December 2019 (UTC)

Ok, I think I got it now. I am an unpaid volunteer who supports public awareness of the work of Jennifer Freyd. Her wikipedia page is really outdated, so I wanted to spruce it up with updated facts and articles. I have no financial interest in these changes. Can I please continue with my editing? I see that the improvements that I made to the opening section and text box are not reflected, and I hope those are still available to be made live. Thank you very much for your help. — Preceding unsigned comment added by CourageAllies (talkcontribs) 22:14, 22 December 2019 (UTC)

Hi CourageAllies and thanks for the response. Please sign your name with 4 ~ in the future. Being an unpaid volunteer or intern still falls under our COI policy. Please make the necessary declaration on your user page (see WP:DISCLOSE). Since you have a Coi, your edits should be requested on the articles talk page using WP:Edit requests. I rejected your edits for they were promotionally toned (eg. Revolutionized) and introduced external links when there shouldn’t be. HickoryOughtShirt?4 (talk) 22:18, 22 December 2019 (UTC)

Oh, I understand. I just added the tag on my userpage to add the disclosure. I will use the request edits feature from now on. I will also be more careful about avoiding a promotional tone. I'm not sure I understand the rules on where external links are desirable or not. Thank you for helping me learn.CourageAllies (talk) 22:25, 22 December 2019 (UTC)
