File:Isn't It A Pity US picture sleeve 1970.jpg
Re my uploading of now-orphaned File:Isn't It A Pity US picture sleeve 1970.jpg. Please go ahead and delete the file, as I uploaded a lower-res image for the Isn't It a Pity song article, mindful of fair use rationale. I don't know if anyone checks this talk page, but thought I'd leave you a message just in case. JG66 (talk) 08:56, 26 April 2013 (UTC)

Orphaned: File:Logo, Institut auf dem Rosenberg.jpg
Regarding your comment for this logo: I have now updated this file and added the latest one to the article Institut auf dem Rosenberg. All previous versions except the current one can be deleted. Sry for the mess - it took me a while to have it fit the infobox correctly. LKK343 Thank you. (LKK343 (talk) 20:53, 2 May 2013 (UTC))

Is it worth Hazard-Bot
bunging {{test}} on the talkpages of every user who removes the sandbox heading? It does say 'leave this line alone' there and they it shows blatant disregard for protocol by removing it.--Launchballer 22:12, 6 May 2013 (UTC)
- Many users might be uncomfortable with that. It would be necessary to have a discussion about this before its implementation because of that. Also, lowercase sigmabot II should be considered as well since it is another bot doing sandbox resets. Hazard-SJ ✈ 01:53, 7 May 2013 (UTC)

Re: Orphaned non-free media (File:Cage-music-of-changes-4-tudor.ogg)
Hello, the bot tagged File:Cage-music-of-changes-4-tudor.ogg as orphaned, but the file is used at Music of Changes (section Analysis, image caption). Could this be fixed somehow? Thanks, --Jashiin (talk) 04:27, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
- I've tried (unsuccessfully) to get the software to recognize that it's used, but I've been unsuccessful, do I untagged it and stopped my bot from editing that file. Hazard-SJ ✈ 00:27, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Filelinks confused?
Greetings, your bot left me this and, indeed, I see the file links on the media indicate that its unused. But the file is actually, currently, at this very moment, in the article. So something interesting may be going wrong. You might want to look into it. Thanks for all your work.--Gmaxwell (talk) 07:48, 22 May 2013 (UTC)
- Hello, and thanks. That would have noting to do with my bot itself, but rather, MediaWiki, as it checks the API for file usage before tagging. Hazard-SJ ✈ 02:57, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- I thought MediaWiki may be confused here. None the less, the bot is whats making the edits. It just retagged the media and left another notice for me.--Gmaxwell (talk) 04:12, 23 May 2013 (UTC)
- I've tagged the page for my bot to exclude it. If the number of complaints gets very high I'll probably just stop the task, since there is likely no way to ascertain if the software gives inaccuracies. Hazard-SJ ✈ 04:17, 23 May 2013 (UTC)

Non-orphaned orphaned non-free media
I have messages from you regarding multiple files which are fair-use and supposedly orphaned. However, they are linked to from articles, though their file information pages don't seem to list any linking articles. For example, File:Syllabic and melismatic.mid is linked to from "Melisma", but doesn't list "Melisma" as linking to it. What's up? Hyacinth (talk) 10:14, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- Just linking to a file is not considered using the file. Werieth (talk) 10:16, 24 May 2013 (UTC)
- Someone changed {{audio}} to use [[:File:Filename.ext]] instead of [[:Media:Filename.ext]], making the software think that more or less all non-free audio files suddenly became orphaned. If you use ":Media", it counts as usage, whereas ":File" doesn't count as usage. However, maybe WP:NFCC#7 is meant to allow only "File" and neither ":File" nor ":Media", as strictly speaking, anything other than "File" just means linking to the file. --Stefan2 (talk) 15:43, 24 May 2013 (UTC)

Dear Sir, Thank you for your comments on my talk page related to uploading company logo.I had followed Wiki's guidelines and just asking to attach a low-res logo for "powermat Technologies" article. the Purpose of use in this article is to serve as the primary means of visual identification at the top of the article dedicated to the entity in question. Universal Pictures 100th anniversary logo
Since all prior uses of this logo have been replaced with current versions without the "100th Anniversary" tagline, it should be OK to delete this one. It was fair use when uploaded, but there's no reason to keep it when the only difference from the current logo is the tagline; none of the other major studios have kept anniversary-tagged logos in their articles. --RBBrittain (talk) 05:40, 12 June 2013 (UTC)

File: Blick auf Rom, painting by Edgar Meyer.jpg
Hello,
This image came via a Google search from an art auction site, in fact it is on various other similar sites as well, I'm not even sure if it's copyrighted anyway since the painter died in 1925. I even 'phoned one of the sites - they said that their image came from another auction house and didn't know if it was copyrighted.
Please can you advise on the best way to acknowledge the source(s) if that's what I need to do.
Thanks

- The bot should try to re-cache the page where the file is used according the the FUR template. I did this to two pages that didn't show up in the used files list by making a null edit and it worked both times (but just purging the page or file description did not work). jonkerz ♠talk 23:47, 24 June 2013 (UTC)

Sandbox templates
Hi. I noted that in the default reset of sandbox templates, as in [1], the "If you defined parameters..." is not noincluded, which is problematic when editors try to transclude their template. Could the bot subst a custom template, such as Template:Template sandbox reset which contains the intended source text. Thanks, Cenarium (talk) 23:47, 1 July 2013 (UTC)
- According to that edit, it isn't in
<noinclude>...</noinclude>
, but yes, it's possible to substitute such a template. However, it would be even more important to leave Avicennasis, the operator of AvicBot2 which also cleans that sandbox, among others. The reason why I said "more important" is because his bot seems to overwrite my bot's sandbox-resets, so even if I use it, his would get rid of it, and since my bot knows better that to edit-war with its fellow sandbots ;) it wouldn't overwrite AvicBot2's edit. Hazard-SJ ✈ 00:05, 3 July 2013 (UTC)- I mean substituting a template of the entire text that bots leave (could be named {{Template sandbox reset}}), that would contain the transclusion of {{Please leave this line alone (template sandbox heading)}} and formulated in such a way that the noinclude tags appear only on transclusion. This would actually resolve the issue of bots overwriting each other since they would all substitute the same template. I'll also contact Avicennasis. Cenarium (talk) 21:48, 5 July 2013 (UTC)
