Ernest Manheim
Hi. I may have muddied the waters, for which I apologise. "Extraction" seems to be a fairly vague term. It doesn't necessarily refer to ethnicity, or to citizenship, but it could refer to both. I wasn't aware that he was of German Jewish stock; I was focussing on his being born in Hungary. Maybe it's best to dispense with the word "extraction" and say that he was born of German Jewish ethnicity in Hungary, at that time part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. I hope that helps. -- JackofOz (talk) 12:25, 9 May 2009 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, at least one of your recent edits, such as the one you made to Bernhard Heine, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Please use the sandbox for any test edits you would like to make, and read the welcome page to learn more about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. The reverted edit can be found here. Speedy deletion nomination of Carol Welsman
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Carol Welsman requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}}
to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. jsfouche ☽☾Talk 17:31, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Please do not remove speedy deletion notices from pages you have created yourself, as you did with Carol Welsman. Please use the {{hangon}} template on the page instead if you disagree with the deletion, and make your case on the page's talk page. Thank you. Alexf(talk) 21:22, 10 December 2010 (UTC)
Are you sure that the glossary is a reliable source? Speaking as an ex-Cambridge Uni person myself, I'd much prefer to see a definition from a "proper" dictionary and/or examples of its actual usage in print (eg: interviews in newspapers with Oxbridge dons who use the phrase). - Sitush (talk) 09:18, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- If you have access to such material, please provide it.--Hans (talk) 09:25, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- I have not ... but that does not mean that you can use the citation which you have. In my opinion it is not a reliable source. - Sitush (talk) 10:35, 17 February 2011 (UTC)
- ... and no sooner did I say that than [3] It's better because it also demonstrates current usage rather than some archaic term. -Sitush (talk) 10:38, 17 February 2011 (UTC)

Notification: changes to "Mark my edits as minor by default" preference
Hello there. This is an automated message to tell you about the gradual phasing out of the preference entitled "Mark all edits minor by default", which you currently have (or very recently had) enabled.
On 13 March 2011, this preference was hidden from the user preferences screen as part of efforts to prevent its accidental misuse (consensus discussion). This had the effect of locking users in to their existing preference, which, in your case, was true
. To complete the process, your preference will automatically be changed to false
in the next few days. This does not require any intervention on your part and you will still be able to manually mark your edits as being minor in the usual way.
For established users such as yourself there is a workaround available involving custom JavaScript. With the script in place, you can continue with this functionality indefinitely (its use is governed by WP:MINOR). If you have any problems, feel free to drop me a note.
Thank you for your understanding and happy editing :) Editing on behalf of User:Jarry1250, LivingBot (talk) 18:34, 15 March 2011 (UTC)
