G'day Hack, I suggest you check out WikiProject AFL, the latest footy project we have going. Cheers mate, Rogerthat 06:09, 20 January 2006 (UTC)
- Hi mate, how'd you fine the full name of Jimmy Krakouer? I reckon we need to find the names of players like David Johnson (Australian rules footballer) so we can move the pages to David A Johnson (or whatever his middle name is) - it looks much neater (see Chris L. Johnson, Peter F. Bell). Rogerthat Talk 03:37, 30 January 2006 (UTC)
- "Do you suggest the name of the articles be changed to reflect their birth names (First name, surname)? Or just in the article itself? We could have issues with names like George Hogg or Neil Winmar.--Hack 05:41, 1 February 2006 (UTC)" - just in the article itself. However when you have two Chris Johnsons for example, or more than two Peter Bells, then you'd change the article name to Peter F. Bell instead of Peter Bell (Australian rules footballer) Rogerthat Talk 06:21, 1 February 2006 (UTC)
- Normal Wikipedia style is to use the most common name, and/or the claim to fame in brackets. I have changed "Peter F. Bell" back to Peter Bell (footballer). No one calls him Peter F. Bell and no one will look for him under that name. I suppose we could have had "Peter Bell (football)". If there was a famous soccer or gridiron player, then we might have to go to middle names or "(Australian football)". Grant65 | Talk 03:11, 6 February 2006 (UTC)
Thanks very much for that article! It was very helpful :-) DarthVader 08:50, 8 February 2006 (UTC)

WP A-League players 10% complete |
Hi Hack!
I just wanted to let you know about the big WikiProject A-League 2005–06 player project. It is an attempt to bring the articles on every player who played in the A-League in 2005–06 up to standard. Check out the main page for the player project to get the full list of players as well as useful links and stats to help out. Hopefully we can get the full list done before the beginning of the 2006–07 season. Don't forget to update the counts (they will automatically update the status bar) as you go. Thanks! AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 10:16, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- Should there perhaps be a link from the main A-League project page?--Hack 11:14, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- Haha yes I overlooked the most important part in my attempts to set it up. Thanks for pointing it out, I'll try to stick something up there soon. AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 11:19, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- I am in by the way...--Hack 11:31, 5 May 2006 (UTC)
- Cool, thanks. I've put a notice at the top of the WP A-League page as well. Hopefully we can get plenty of people working on this. AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 15:13, 5 May 2006 (UTC)

Expansion of WP:A-League
Hi Hack/Archive 1,
Just thought I'd let you know there is currently a proposal to expand WikiProject A-League to include all areas of football/soccer in Australia, including the NSL, A-League, Socceroos, state leagues and more. A more formal proposal page can be found here. Please indicate whether you support the idea or not at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject A-League, and also add your 2c about what the new project should be called. Cheers! – AlbinoMonkey (Talk) 04:10, 19 October 2006 (UTC)

Footy Club
Hi, I am trying to introduce a club for rugby league supporters that will be more than just a wikiproject and help to encourage rugby league participation and article improvement. I have written down some of my thoughts about what wikileaguies should attempt to do and would be interested if you, like other rugby league supporters, would be willing to be involved on some level. [1], leave signage and thoughts on the talk page if you are interested. Cheers. --Rugby 666 08:28, 8 December 2006 (UTC)
FAS Premier League
The reason I linked FAS Premier League to the S.League page is becuase there is information about the FAS Premier League on the S.League page in the section entitled "League football in Singapore before the S.League". The FAS Premier League is now only a minor footnote in Singapore football history. It's only real significance today is that it was the precursor to the S.League. I therefore thought it made sense to contain information about it (and the 3 other historical leagues that preceeded it) within an appropriate section on the S.League page. Jack Juniper
I take your point about not calling ex-AFL players, "former players", but Jack Juniper is not playing for anyone as at today. He was coming back to Glenelg in 2007 but when last heard from had walked out and apparently is looking to travel. That sounds like an ex-player to me, AFL or otherwise. Still he might end up player for someone, somewhere so I have left the edit as it stands. Cheers. Pudgey 11:36, 5 March 2007 (UTC)
Hi, seeing you are interested in football this is an invitation to contribute to this discussion to clarify certain issues about football player notability. AFL Infoboxes
Hi Hack, I noticed that you originally created the {{Australian rules footballer infobox}}. You seem to know what you're doing, but since then i've created a new infobox which includes information more suitable for the AFL it is located at {{Infobox AFL player}}.
But I've encountered some difficulties, including some sections of the infobox not showing on an article when inserted. And also little }}'s up in the top left-hand corner of the page. It would be great if you could please fix up the infobox and right the wrongs as quickly as possoble, making it usable on pages.
Thanks heaps, Allied45 08:21, 24 September 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for replying to my message, but no, I haven't been able to work out what to do, i got the }}'s in the corner off, but the whole infobox still won't appear on an article. Thanks again, Allied45 06:53, 27 September 2007 (UTC)

- To be honest I was a bit surprised that it wasn't there already. I was going to ask if you had more pics but as I can see you've already added some pretty good photos...The Hack 00:51, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
- ... I was a bit surprised ... - Yeah. Well. Every now and then I'm reminded that there are more interesting and more important things than WP; I guess I hadn't got to that one yet. And no, I don't know why no-one else had either. Well, that's not quite true - User:Bilby is busy with National War Memorial (South Australia); "User:Bidgee is busy studying and may not respond swiftly to queries."; The Yellow Monkey is more interested in people than things. Norman Hackenberg is more into trains, though he does, occasionally, take some VERY nice photos involving neither steel nor grafitti (e.g. File:AdelaideSkyline.jpg). I guess the answer is, it's never reached the top of anyone's "list".
- BTW: I like seeing both sides of the conversation in the one place - Is that OK with you? If so, do you want to do it here or on my page? (Either is fine with me.)
- I haven't been able to locate any other pictures of Bonython Hall (that I didn't take.) I've been "categorising" all the photos of Adelaide that I've been able to find under category:Images of Adelaide. I've probably gone a bit over-the-top, (OK, I've probably gone a LOT over-the-top), but I find it useful ...
- (In case you hadn't noticed, my current "projects" are J150W and North Terrace, Adelaide)
- Other things you may (or may not) want to look at include (but are not limited to) Category:Images of North Terrace, Adelaide, Category:Jubilee 150 Walkway (I've already mentioned J150W) and Category:Images of the University of Adelaide.
- If you haven't started snoring yet, depending on your interests, you might find something at User:Pdfpdf/Galleries and/or User talk:Pdfpdf/North Terrace of interest.
- (Digression: In the context of the Bonython Hall page, which do you think is the more illustrative photo - File:BonythonHall 14 Aug08.jpg or File:BonythonHall 15 Aug08.jpg?)
- Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 12:11, 13 March 2009 (UTC)
Vote for Football as the Australian collaboration
Hi -- I recently nominated Wikipedia:WikiProject Football (soccer) in Australia/To-do for the Australian Collaboration of the Fortnight.
This WikiProject has been inactive for a long time and with the World Cup coming up, it would be good for football (soccer) articles to be in depth and comprehensive in Australia.
If you would like to support it, click here for the project page to cast your vote
Thanks! Australian Matt (talk) 02:58, 8 April 2009 (UTC)
Prodding of Vadim Antonov
Can you clarify your reasons for the prod nomination of Vadim Antonov? There seem to be references available for an athlete of that name on Google News. If you could weigh in on your rationalle and say why you believe he doesn't exist at Talk:Vadim Antonov, it would help. Thanks! MrZaiustalk 04:49, 10 April 2009 (UTC)
George Keith
The reference I have lists every player who has signed professional terms with Arsenal and pretty much any player who played for the reserve team upwards. It is possible he was a trialist, however. If you can find a reliable source that affirms both that he was at Arsenal and he was more than a trialist then that can be added in, but Wikipedia consensus is that a player must have signed for a club, not just had a trial, before they can be considered a player at that club. Qwghlm (talk) 12:51, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- Considering he would have been 16 in 1960/61, I'm guessing he would have been with the youth team? Camw (talk) 13:02, 11 April 2009 (UTC)
- He played 11 games for Arsenal's youth team and 8 games for Arsenal's A team. There's a chance he may have been on the groundstaff (this was just before apprenticeships started). I don't recall him being listed as a permanent member of staff. I'll do some digging and let you know what I find out.--Goonerak (talk) 18:06, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
Proposed deletion of Artjoms Butorins
A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Artjoms Butorins, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process because of the following concern:
- Player fails WP:ATHLETE as has never played in a fully-pro league
All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}}
notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. GiantSnowman 13:37, 30 April 2009 (UTC)
Harry and Wilga Williams
Hi, I see you improved this article but asked wether this was about a group. The short answer appears to be no. There is many references to these two individuals well beyond what I included in the article. Despite not being a band as such most references talk of both of them or are entries on both. The Oxford Companion to Australian Music which I see as an Encyclopedia type reference has an entry listed as Harry and Wilga Williams. I followed the example of reliable sources and added this article at Harry and Wilga Williams instead of individual entries or instead of the best known band they were part of. This makes categories difficult. One could make articles for each of the two and for The Country Outcasts. I figured the way I went was the best way to go but am open to other ideas. Unreferenced BLPs
Hello Hack! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 4 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 400 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
