Vinton Smith
[edit]I just wrote an article on him (James Vinton Smith), which is why I changed it. It's not really clear, as all newspaper references from 1932 onwards seem to refer to him as "Mr. Vinton Smith" or "J.T. Vinton Smith". You're right, several other records such as the Victorian Parliament and It's an Honour say "SMITH, James Taylor Vinton". Could also be because Smith is such a common surname, maybe? Makes sense if his father's name was Thomas Ladyman Smith that it would be Smith I guess. I'll do a bit more research and change it back soon probably. --Canley (talk) 05:37, 29 May 2012 (UTC)

I would like your opinion on the potential non-notability of this topic. As you have previously advocated that this article is not notable I would like to see if you agree with my findings on the topic. Thank you. Macktheknifeau (talk) 16:45, 12 July 2012 (UTC)
I think I know what the issue is - you are including parliamentary secretaries. But they are not members of cabinet, and don't seem to be included in the template for other state governments. I had looked at the list here, which didn't include McGrath, Francis, etc. StAnselm (talk) 02:46, 13 July 2012 (UTC)

Re: Pratap Singh
[edit]Thank you for starting the page. Will add more. Also a very big thank you for starting the Indian football referees category. I know that category wont survive with 1 article so I will look to create more. Cheers mate. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 05:07, 20 July 2012 (UTC)
- Never mind. I saw that you also added that Indian born English referee as well. Either way I shall still look for more Indian born I-League referees. Starting with Srikrishna. Cheers. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 05:08, 20 July 2012 (UTC)

[edit]On 22 July 2012, Did you know? was updated with a fact from the article Ballarat Miners, which you created or substantially expanded. About half a decade ago - as time flies by - you took the trouble moving Manfred Schaefer to Manfred Schäfer. I surely understand, that this is how he has been originally spelt in the fatherland. However, the Australian citizenship authorities don't want to know about diacritical signs, and probably did even less so in the 1960s when their typographical means were kind of limited to what could be done with a typewriter. Also, there are no contemporary, say 1960s to 1980s, documents known to mankind in which he is listed as Schäfer. Is there a a way by which we can agree on how to proceed in this case? Cheers, Oalexander-En (talk) 11:08, 27 July 2012 (UTC)
PS: I thank you very much for your hand in that rivalry case lately. ;) Oalexander-En (talk) 11:08, 27 July 2012 (UTC)

Nice job
[edit]Good job mate. I can tell you really want the Babajide page still up and actually I now think it passes GNG. Of course I still say delete due to NFOOTY and the fact he was no where near close to a game in MLS but I think in the end the majority will go to keep. Well played. Cheers. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 16:57, 17 August 2012 (UTC)
- What you say is true. I have never been involved in an AfD involving a college kid so since I do know that college is amateur (at least in soccer) I would guess that the other coverage is not that good enough at regional level (ie. high school etc). If it is however than I am sorry because I did not know that so I am willing to drop the AfD (or wait till it expires) as it would pass GNG. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 02:17, 20 August 2012 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of Million Butshiire
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Million Butshiire requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A3 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an article with no content whatsoever, or whose contents consist only of external links, a "See also" section, book references, category tags, template tags, interwiki links, a rephrasing of the title, or an attempt to contact the subject of the article. Please see Wikipedia:Stub for our minimum information standards for short articles. Also please note that articles must be on notable subjects and should provide references to reliable sources that verify their content.
If you think that the page was nominated in error, contest the nomination by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion" in the speedy deletion tag. Doing so will take you to the talk page where you can explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but do not hesitate to add information that is consistent with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Hack (talk) 08:18, 26 August 2012 (UTC)

[edit]Perhaps someone should inform Sydney's chairman Scott Barlow about jumping the club regarding signings lol, I refer to this statement: "Sydney FC chairman Scott Barlow has confirmed the signing of Alessandro Del Piero to the Sydney Morning Herald: 'This is huge for Sydney FC, huge for the A-League and huge for Australian football. We feel honoured that Alessandro has decided to play for Sydney FC and we share his excitement that a move to Sydney FC will create a lasting legacy for football in this country.'"

Re:Serge Gnarby
[edit]Ya, as you can tell I rushed that one. I came home around an hour after the game ended and saw that no one made his page yet. So I took the liberty of doing so myself. And as you can see in the end I missed out a lot of information... his international career. Perhaps a few tables. I also missed some important information about his career at Arsenal so far like when he signed professional terms etc. I am planning on getting to that when I get time. Cheers. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 02:39, 27 September 2012 (UTC)
- Well I dont understand why not. Coventry City is a fully-professional team while Arsenal is as well and the Football League Cup is one of the four official cups in England (Football League Trophy being minor). So it just baffles me how we cant say he passes NFOOTY but not GNG instead of that he does not pass both. --Arsenalkid700 (talk) 03:56, 27 September 2012 (UTC)

Is he notable?
[edit]G'day Hack, Charlie Hicks (Australian rules footballer) popped up on the cleanup list as an orphan and I'm struggling to find an article to link to it. Do you think he really is notable enough? The refs aren't that significantly about him, maybe it's recentism, but I don't really think that 60 WAFL games and a war time premiership is really enough. "Yellow and Black"
[edit]Hi Hack. Good revert here, as goes without saying. The assertion, though badly worded, has a lot of truth and a little bit of verifiability. To be honest, I find myself joining in with the song most times the Tiges have a win (unless it's over my poor old Brisroy boys). I can't substantiate this at the moment, but the club song does appear to be one of the favourites of barrackers for other teams. I'll have a look around - maybe we could start a discussion on the article's talk page? --Shirt58 (talk) 09:21, 14 November 2012 (UTC)
