  • Following the banning of an editor by the WMF last year, the Arbitration Committee resolved to hold an RfC regarding on-wiki harassment. The RfC has been posted at Wikipedia:Arbitration Committee/Anti-harassment RfC and is open to comments from the community.
  • The Medicine case was closed, with a remedy authorizing standard discretionary sanctions for all discussions about pharmaceutical drug prices and pricing and for edits adding, changing, or removing pharmaceutical drug prices or pricing from articles.

Conflict of Interest History of the Cross Border Xpress

Hi Harry, asked for help from Darren-M on removing a template that has been on the page since September 5, 2019, and now got an additional notice of Conflict of Interest, which was a surprise since the article has been on Wikipedia since 2014 and heavily reviewed and not one Administrator ever mentioned Conflict of Interest. Arameans article

Hello there, could you please take a look at Arameans article from time to time due to countless edit warrings with a group of national vandalists, such as user Mugsalot, who have successfully established themselves here on English Wikipedia by spreading POV editing. This has been going for the last couple of years. Permanently violating Wikipedia's policy instead of being a neutral encyclopedia, welcoming high-quality academic sources even if it doesn't fit these people's views, which shouldn't matter here. TFA

Thank you today for Tower Hill Memorial, a war memorial "dedicated to merchant seamen in both world wars who lost their lives as a result of enemy action and have "no grave but the sea". It is one of the Commonwealth War Graves Commission's memorials to the missing, and the CWGC's only monument in London. Anyone following my project will have already guessed that this is another work of Sir Edwin Lutyens (who was far from happy that his first design was rejected!)."! - Nice match to today's Nerotalanlagen, DYK later today. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 06:42, 25 September 2020 (UTC)

your admin actions concerning The Banner

Hi,
I read here, on the block history of this contributor, that you first blocked him indefinitely, after he had been blocked 8 times among other grounds for personal attacks or harassment, but also that you revoked this indefinite block 3 weeks later.
As I have been suffering from continuing harassment in the recent months by this contributor, as explained here by me, but also [here by another contributor], I am interested in the circumstances when you first blocked him undefinity, and why you unblocked him later.
However, somehow, probably because I am a relatively newcomer, I don't know how to have access to your diffs of that time.
Can you please help me and provide me with these 2 diffs?

Great to hear from you! I'm unfortunately quite busy myself, leaving little room for Wikipedia. I just finished a rewrite of James Oglethorpe and several Walt Whitman Poems, and have been tying up loose ends (namely GA reviews I forgot about) so I can draft some new articles later this week. Interesting combination of subjects! I was in Portsmouth at the end of August after a lovely holiday on the Isle of Wight. I actually went to see a different war memorial but was shocked that the city's didn't even have an article. It's not Lutyens, but it's a nice little side project. The article was deleted due to the fact that the article was created using marketing language and the subject was not notable. I have checked this current draft and improved it myself and ensuring it is rid of such marketing language and as well as provide sources to justify any claim made. I also wanted to mention that the individual is notable as he has received recognition in the UK, Ghana and have been covered in notable mediums/sources. Sorry, Drmies, I completely disagree with you on that one. Wikilinks are for further reading but each article should be able to stand on its own. The Iranian Embassy siege is a featured article so it's been scrutinised against the FA criteria, which include comprehensiveness and placing the subject in context, and that paragraph has been there for nearly a decade. I can see an argument about the first part, the origins of the SAS, but the conception of European counter-terrorist military units is directly relevant. Northern Bank robbery

Hiya, thanks for the GA review on Northern Bank robbery. I'm interested by what you mean about how it would need more work for FA, because that's not something I have done before. I can agree with needing to track down the Moore book, are you saying it would need more secondary sources? @Mujinga: You're welcome. It was an interesting read. For FA, I'd normally expect to see books and other multi-page sources listed in a separate bibliography and probably a paragraph or so of background on the political situation in Northern Ireland at at the time (criterion 1b is "it neglects no major facts or details and places the subject in context", my emphasis). You'd certainly need to get hold of Moore, whether that means shelling out the £27 or so or tracking it down through a library. There's nothing wrong with relying heavily on newspaper articles as long as they're all reliable, as seems to be the case here, and you've consulted all the available source material. I think you might struggle to justify the use of the non-free banknote image at FAC, and there might be some tightening of the prose to be done. It might be an idea to double check that you've found everything written about the subject if I was able to turn up a book and a news article with just a bit of casual searching. I like to think Chandler's Ford shooting and Shooting of James Ashley (an FA) are good examples of articles on modern events that mix online news sources and book/journal sources if you're looking for something to compare to. This one's a blank, I'm afraid. Not mentioned in the entry for Paddington Station, and I checked the Artists entries for Jagger and Tait and it's not there either. Is it even listed? I can't make the HE link in the article work, and can't find it either in the HE Search function or in British Listed Buildings Online. It's not mentioned in the HE listing record for Paddington Station, as far as I can see.
I was wrong - it's part of Paddington Station's Grade I listing; "the GWR War Memorial of polished granite and Portland stone designed by TS Tait, with a fine bronze figure of an infantryman by Charles Sarjeant Jagger. This is inscribed on the base 'In honour of those who served in the World Wars 1914-1918, 1939-1945. 25,479 men of the Great Western Railway joined His Majesty's forces, 2,254 gave their lives".
Slim pickings, but at least it's there. "Between them [the pavilions] a WAR MEMORIAL by Reginald Wynn Owen, 1921, a stone obelisk on a granite base guarded by four bronze figures." {Cherry|Pevsner|2002|p=361} - Bridget Cherry and Nikolaus Pevsner, London 4: North, Buildings of England, 2002, Yale University Press, New Haven, US and London, isbn 9780300096538, url [2].
  • Victory Arch at Waterloo
And this one's a blank, too. It's not mentioned in the Waterloo Station entry, which is a bit odd given its prominence! The sculptor, Charles Whiffen, doesn't have an entry. The station architect, John Robb Scott, does, but not that mentions this. That said, there's a fair bit of coverage online, so I suspect an article's possible.
