Admirer? ^_^ --Wikihermit (Talk • HermesBot) 02:04, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

High, is there a page that explains the procedure for people to verify their identity to the Foundation? I do a lot of work at WP:COIN and this issue comes up a lot - over there, we generally assume that someone with a username like the above is the article subject...but when it comes down to it, there's really no way to tell an autobiographer from an impersonator doing a joe job. RJASE1 Talk 12:14, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- If they insist they are who they say they are we generally contact them through a previously published contact for the celebrity. At least that is what I have seen done in the past, not entirely sure. We usually treat them as a username block until their is some sort of insistence. Mostly they people are impersonators, see User talk:George Carlin. (H) 13:22, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
May I request that you reread my message to Yamla? I think that you'll find, on closer reading, that the sarcasm and humor come through pretty clearly, but if Yamla doesn't get the joke, I will of course apologize to her. -FisherQueen (Talk) 15:59, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Sorry about that, I can see now that it was meant sarcastically. You would be surprised how many people will say something like that sincerely though. I suggest the use of <sarcasm> tags to avoid this sort of misconception. I reversed the removal of your comment, apologized and struck out the warning I gave. <sarcasm>This was 100% my fault</sarcasm>. Peace. (H) 16:03, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi H, I was read your posts on Secretlondon's talkpage - looks good. When testing the Bot, I suggest including User:One - if the Bot is working it should be able to find 3 past renames... WjBscribe 16:15, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Thanks, I was looking for one of those. The rename detector is recursive, it calls itself, now I can test that properly. (H) 16:16, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
H is taking a very long Wikibreak. (H) 16:40, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am available for discussion on this topic only. (H) 17:05, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Sad to see you go, this kind of thing happens with alarming regularity. We get obsessed with trying to remove BADSITES attacks and dont protect editors from on site harrassment. Best wishes, SqueakBox 17:04, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am not gone forever, one bad decision does not ruin the website. I am simply going away for a while because I am pissed off and do not wish to spread it around. (H) 17:05, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- You will be missed while you are away but sometimes we need a break. You are an asset to this project and hope to see you back soon. GDonato (talk) 17:26, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Seconded; you're a great editor H. Acalamari 17:29, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that decision was a very poor decision to unblock him personally and I agree with your block. Dont let it stress you out too much though. Good luck. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 17:28, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I am probably thropwing fuel on a fire but i am going to take a wiki break because i feel that a community willing to favor disruptive editors over the hard working volunteers has a problem. [1]. -- Chrislk02 (Chris Kreider) 18:00, 7 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, as you the creator of the said bot I have one suggestion to it. I would be better if the instructions to the bot be moved from WP:AIV to somewhere else accessible only by admins, as that instruction received some vandalism today and remained in place for a long enough time before it was discovered. --WinHunter (talk) 11:09, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- This vandal is using a dynamic IP from BT. I'm going to semi AIV for a bit. ˉˉanetode╦╩ 11:10, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- They are only instructions and vandalizing them does not make the bot go crazy. I think it can just be treated as normal vandalism. The bots goes back to normal when the change is reverted. I think it is important that those settings can be changed by consensus, that is why I hard-coded anything that might be abusable. (H) 13:23, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- It tends to happen about every 2 or 3 months, but if it becomes a problem I can put them on a separate page. (H) 14:02, 10 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
hey man, you've got your irc password posted on your userpage (/msg nickserv identify overlord). not quite the wisest thing to be publicizing, especially if you have aops in certain channels!Vonkwink 07:56, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- "overlord" is not my real password for anything, it is more of a placeholder for my password. (H) 13:21, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Wouldn't removal of the image now constitute as vandalism, as the image is perefectly fine there? Will (talk) 16:55, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- No, see WP:VANDAL#What_vandalism_is_not, disputes over interpretation of policy are not vandalism. (H) 16:57, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- It's not a dispute of an interpretation of policy now, as it unequivocally follows the policy. Besides, the second removal wasn't due to policy interpretation, it was spillover from the Utopia image war. Will (talk) 17:03, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- It does not unequivocally follow policy, there is a very legitimate concern over the rational used on the talk page of that article, it is awaiting your response. Reasonable people can disagree on such matters, that does not mean it is vandalism. You need to go to the talk page an gain consensus instead of reverting. (H) 17:06, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- An IP with a vendetta against the image =/= legitimate concern. Will (talk) 17:13, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- The fact that the person is an IP makes no difference. The talk page does contain legitimate concerns, that you have not even responded to. "IP with a vendetta against the image" is not listed as an exemption from 3RR. I am not saying you are wrong or right, I don't know, I am saying that you need to discuss this matter instead of just reverting. (H) 17:15, 11 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
*poke* *grin* -- nae'blis 04:51, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Ah, I see. I checked the IPs userpage for a note from you, I see it is there now. Sorry about the inconvenience. I use User:HighOnTheRoad, which I have marked. (H) 04:53, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Yeah, I'm not going to bother tagging the IP pages, since they may shift out from under me at some point, but I've now gotten a notice up on my own userpage about the matter. -- nae'blis 04:57, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I kindly request you [2]. Do you think it was necessary to leave such a messages. I forget to write edit summary but why you assume that I do not know. Is that my first day in wikipedia. Please stop giving me mental stress. Please I beg you to leave me alone. --- A. L. M. 14:37, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Why is it that when I defend you, you welcome my comment, but when I make simple requests you consider it hostile? I really just wanted you to understand that you will likely be reverted if you do not use an edit summary. I am not harassing you, but making the same requests I would make of any Wikipedian. (H) 14:39, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Please go and post same request on User:Briangotts for this. I know you will not because it will look stupid to do so. Is not it? I will prefer to leave me alone for few months. I will be much more thankful with it. -:) --- A. L. M. 14:46, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- You need to understand that this is a collaborative editing environment, and you asking me not to contact you regarding your editorial practices is not a reasonable request. If you don't want other people commenting on your edits then Google "Free wiki" and you can have a wiki you are in charge of. I am not picking on you. If you have a problem with Briangotts, you are welcome to leave him a message. (H) 14:48, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- -:(. I can only beg which I already did. I though you will be kind enough to consider it but .... Thank you for showing me other alternatives as usuall. It feel like you just keep pushing me to leave by giving me other option. Or you feel that I am stupid that I do not know what you keep telling me. bye (end of discussion from my side) --- A. L. M. 15:03, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I am not telling you what opinion to hold, and I certainly don't think you are stupid. If anything you are stubborn, which is fine by me. All I did was give you a note I would give anyone else, I did not even criticize the stance you took. I am not your enemy. (H) 15:05, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Not that this is any kind of active dispute, but since you'd asked to which comment re Naik/Bin Laden I'd referred, it was this:"Proabivouac if he like bin laden then what is wrong with that?"[3]Proabivouac 20:22, 12 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Is it just me or have you posted your IRC password on your user page...? Should probably be removed. Also, are you User:H or User:HighInBC now? They seem to be merged in a very weird way... heqs ·:. 15:41, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- That is not my real password. I am many things. (H) 15:41, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Okay... it's just that clicking on User:H morphs to User:HighInBC in some kind of non-transparent redirect/merger (and vice versa), yet HighInBC has no contributions. What happened? heqs ·:. 15:57, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I was HighInBC, I changed my name to H, but I still have the HighInBC account that I can use if I need to use a non-admin account for security reasons. You can call me either. (H) 15:59, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Why does it say User:HighInBC at the top of your user page though? heqs ·:. 16:10, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- See User:1ne/Title for the code that does this. (H) 16:12, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Hmm, I probably could have picked that out if I bothered to look at the source. For the record, I am against such deception. :) I might propose it for deletion. heqs ·:. 16:40, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Not really a deception since both names are the same person. Not against any part of WP:USER. (H) 16:42, 13 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

A request has been made of the Mediation Cabal for mediation on this page.
Please do not remove this notice until the issue is resolved. Preloaded case page
I'm leaving the request for mediation on your talkpage because I believe this is an issue which concerns you as a user (and admin) rather than any specific article(s). I don't know if it's appropriate or not, but it seemed like the best way of notifying you about the issue.
Peter Isotalo 11:57, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I look forward to an independent mediator looking over this. (H) 13:17, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Hello, H! If you don't mind, I'll be mediating the case. Just indicate your acceptance, and I'll try to help. Cool Bluetalk to me 01:26, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- I accept, thank you. (H) 01:27, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
First off, this is a compliment not a complaint! (Always nice to get those). this is impressive. I like the work you have done with this bot.
- Barnstar moved to userpage.
- Thanks, it is good to be appreciated, especially when I get so many complaints for just doing my job as an admin. (H) 14:29, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- Wow, that's very cool. I especially like the check for a valid web address. Consider your barnstar seconded :-) --YFB ¿ 14:47, 14 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you'll please create a section under "H's Incident summaries" or something like that, please put in the diffs you have at User:H/notes. Pete'll need to respond to those. Cool Bluetalk to me 02:07, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Just a note, Pete lives in Sweden, while we both live in North America, so I think, unless Pete's in the Category:Nocturnal Wikipedians, that we won't be getting a response for a while. Cool Bluetalk to me 02:15, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
- It is not my goal to demonstrate the wrong doings of Peter more than is needed to defend my own actions, the issues at hand seem to have been over for a few days now. I am still awaiting clarification on what the issue is. If he feels that I was right to ask him to follow these policies, but did not ask appropriately then the diffs are not needed to go forward, we can simply discuss my actions and anything leading up to them. If however Peter feels I was wrong in thinking he had violated these policies then the diffs may indeed be needed to move forward, and I will gladly provide them.
- Basically I don't want this to turn into a finger pointing contest. I gathered those diffs to defend against the allegation of me giving inappropriate warnings. Since then a closer looks has led me to realize an ambiguity in the allegations leading me to believe it may have been simply the manner in which I pursued the issue that was being objected to.
- The diffs are on my notes page for those interested in seeing them before the need to bring them to mediation demonstrates itself. I do not know if Peter is watching this page, but he should know that I have gathered these diffs. I would tell him all I have told you here, but I am concerned direct communication about these diffs may exacerbate things by appearing threatening. (H) 02:21, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I've added some questions to the mediation. I'd appreciate it if you'd answer them, but these probably won't be the only questions.Cool Bluetalk to me 17:49, 15 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]- I've drafted a possible compromise to the situation, at Wikipedia:Mediation Cabal/Cases/2007-06-14 H.
