It doesn't happen often enough for a de facto standard to emerge, so the text you proposed would be fine. I'd tend to provide the link to the log as well, and a note on the closer's page telling them that you've done so. (That's if they are a new adimn or don't close too many XfDs, there's no point reminding someone who has simply forgotten because they already closed forty that day.)

Actually, you were right and I was wrong. The confusion is due to the AfD deleting Pirate metal, and the current article being Pirate Metal (note capitalization). Your tagging was correct; I'd go ahead and delete now, but I don't have time to close the AfD properly at the moment (which I ought to do if I delete the article). Hit the Ice (film)

I see that you added a request that the trivia section be "cleaned up". Could you elaborate as to why you think it needs cleaning? There are only 5 pieces of trivia, and none of them belong in the only other section on the page (Plot). Where do you suggest that it goes? To start a new section for only 1 item, ie: moving the Raiders of the Lost Ark comment to another area such as "Cultural References" or something similiar seems ridiculous for only one item. I use Lupin's anti-vandal tool. It's pretty amazing. There's also vandal proof, but for some reason, it doesn't work for me... Gzkn 02:12, 9 December 2006 (UTC)

I've been using Vandal Fighter 3, with Lupin's popups for reverts. It's great, except that I'm forever manually dropping warnings templates onto vandal userpages, and I'd like to find a way to automate that. I am really surprised that nobody thinks feminism is subject to vandalism - today has broken all records there. It is not lost on me that feminism was born out of abusive behaviour by males, and the feminism article has been the continual target of hate edits. I am very cross with you. I am not in the habit of being reverted. That was an obscenity I removed from that page (I cannot bring myself to name it) your reversion of my prudent edit was an affront. That may be how you behave in your part of the world, but let me tell you, it is not how we behave in Mississippi. Lead

I'm glad you've read it, that's two of us. I've also been involved in discussions there. As you may know the guidelines as to how long per context are vague and though I think it would be good to bring up a discussion to come to a consensus on just how long is long, for what and where, but others have advised against it. They are probably right and we just have to use our sense when it comes to deciding how long the lead should be on a particular subject. Regards helium, i tagged it since most other elements have much shorter leads such as sodium, potassium, zinc, boron. As for [[Terence Airey], true I should tagged it {{categorise}}. OK, if the other article's LAEDs need lenthening, I'll leave you to it. It's your feild and you reckon people interested will want a certain ammount of detail in the lead. You're getting rather harsh. You can see my contributions, I don't go around tagging multiple articles, yes I am on the lookout though. I have read WP:LEAD#Lenth it a number of times, it itself needs to be lengthened. I will soon be making a template for Leads that are not long enough, or not "all inclusive". I only tag articles where the lead is overwhelming. I make mistakes, since some topics people are overly interested in. Since the Wikipedia 1.0 CD, is going to only include the lead, I have to make sure the Lead includes as much information as possible and that it is all inclusive. But here I run head-long into the grey area of documentable research. I can speak knowlegeably about the Turkey Run Farm through nearly two decades of association, but in the case of the Virginia Aviation Museum article, which I created, my source was the actual placards for the exhibits, but I can't site a published source. The museum does not publish a document that has all the data on the display signs.

But does that make my research any less valid?

As you suggest, large chunks of text without citation can be a concern, but--as I demonstrated to Jayzel--whether they call for citation or not ultimately has nothing to do with the length but rather with the nature of the content. In the example you give, for instance, (a) the description of Stranger on the Third Floor as the first classic film noir is an opinion widely held in the field, common knowledge to all professionals involved in film noir criticism and American film history in general (as common knowledge as, say, "The Jazz Singer was the first feature-length film with live-recorded dialogue"--does that necessitate a citation?), and (b) it has no strong intellectual status, as both (i) the definition of film noir and (ii) the line between "classic" noir and "pre-classic" or "proto-" noir are largely subjective. In both ways, therefore, the statement does not warrant a citation--not only is it material that is easily verifiable by any interested layman via simple reference to a wide range of published sources, it should not be given the imprimatur of a citation. It's an accurate and relevant observation about a generally held opinion in the field, no more or less. I've changed the wording of the sentence to make that a bit clearer.
