When editing an article on Wikipedia there is a small field labeled "Edit summary" under the main edit-box. It looks like this:
The text written here will appear on the Recent changes page, in the page revision history, on the diff page, and in the watchlists of users who are watching that article. See m:Help:Edit summary for full information on this feature.
Filling in the edit summary field greatly helps your fellow contributors in understanding what you changed, so please always fill in the edit summary field, especially for big edits or when you are making subtle but important changes, like changing dates or numbers. Thank you.
I would like to thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. However, it is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Thanks again. --Dhartung | Talk 22:27, 27 August 2006 (UTC)
Barack Obama and others...
[edit]Hey there. Just wanted to say you're making some great copyedits! Keep it up! Gzkn 00:45, 11 December 2006 (UTC)
Hmmm ... nice editing
[edit]Hi there, Dmacw6
A wikifriend has alerted me to your skilled editing, so I had a look and ... he's right. You may be interested in dropping into Wikipedia:Featured_article_candidates and Wikipedia:Featured_article_review, where your expertise would be appreciated. In those rooms, we try to make an impact on the culture and standards of wriiting in the project.

Dear Dmacw6,
I am trying to get the Ohio Wesleyan University to FA quality. In the coming few weeks, our biggest challenge with the article lies in style, wording and grammar. I am trying to get someone to help us with copyedits on these areas. Do you think you might have the time? That will be so awesome!

Please remember to mark your edits as minor when (and only when) they genuinely are minor edits (see Wikipedia:Minor edit). Marking a major change as a minor one (and vice versa) is considered poor etiquette. The rule of thumb is that only an edit that consists solely of spelling corrections, formatting and minor rearranging of text should be flagged as a 'minor edit'. Thanks! Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, Dmacw6! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule \bangelfire\.com\/, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links policy for more information. If the link was to an image, please read Wikipedia's image tutorial on how to use a more appropriate method to insert the image into an article. If your link was intended to promote a site you own, are affiliated with, or will make money from inclusion in Wikipedia, please note that inserting spam into Wikipedia is against policy. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Shadowbot 23:06, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks and edit summary field
[edit]I must chime in with the folks above and commend you for your excellent editing. You're tightening up a slew of articles and doing it really well. I do want to suggest, however, that as you plow through articles making big changes, that you get in the habit of noting what you changed in the edit summary field. This would be very helpful to other editors. Thanks, and keep up the good work. --Melty girl 08:38, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
