My name is Chris.
About me
[edit]I graduated from Rush-Henrietta Senior High School in 2007.
Hobbies and interests
[edit]Most of my interests and hobbies have something to do with electronics and computers. I'm interested in computer programming, computer networking and computer hacking.
I own three computers. A desktop computer that I've built myself. The specs are a KT4V motherboard, an AMD Athlon 2000+ XP processor, a nVida GeForce4 6200 video card, a LG-GSA H10N CD/DVD writer, 1024 MB (finally) of DDR RAM, a Plantronics GameCon Pro 1 headset, Altec Lansing speakers, and a 160GB Seagate Barracuda hard drive running Windows XP Professional.
My laptop is a Gateway MX6025 with an Atheros MiniPCI wireless card dual-booting Backtrack Beta 2 and Windows XP Professional. It's falling apart. One of the monitor hinges has completely broken off, about five keys are missing, and the monitor has numerous sun spots. It has few peripherals. Four USB ports, modem, integrated Intel NIC, and a VGA port.
My other laptop is a Toshiba Satellite A55-S1064. It's a 40GB hard drive with 512MB of DDR2 RAM. I'm not dual-booting with this laptop. I'm running Windows XP SP3 Professional. It has S-Video, three USB ports, one VGA port, DVD-ROM/CD-RW, and overall works and runs better than my other laptop.
And yes, I know I need to build a new computer. Just as soon as I get the cash to do that.
Digital audio and music
[edit]I'm a mild audiophile. All my music is encoded in Ogg Vorbis @ -q6. I generally dislike MP3s and I harbor an even greater dislike for iPods. I myself own an iRiver h320 that's running Rockbox firmware.
After a lengthly discussion with a few people and several ABX blind tests between several different songs encoded in both MP3 and Ogg Vorbis, I've switched back to MP3 for two reasons.
- With the LAME encoder, there is no audible difference between the two.
- MP3 is more widely supported than Ogg Vorbis
As far as music goes, I generally like classical, rock, and techno. Sometimes, I'll listen to a little jazz. My tastes differ from time to time, but generally stay within the same group of sub-genre's.
Movies and television
[edit]When I get the chance, I'll pop a DVD in my computer and kick back on my bed. As far as movies go, I found The Matrix to be one of the best movies I've seen. Both the plot and the way it was filmed was perfect.
When it comes to television, there's only a few shows I watch. One is an anime series called Ghost In The Shell. Another is a science fiction series called Doctor Who. If I'm bored, the first thing I'll check to see is on is MythBusters.
Wikipedia stuff
[edit]I find myself on this site a lot, occasionally editing articles and fixing them. Because of this I gave into making an account.
