Question from Angelstars24 (20:10, 23 July 2024)
Hello, I wanted to take a look at the Electro Freeze wikipedia page (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Electro_Freeze) and update information on that page. What pointers would you provide to me for general information to add in or update? I've never put any updates into Wikipedia so I'm not sure how any of it works. If you could point me to tutorial pages to go through, that would be good as well. I see there's a link on the side of the page that says "Learn to edit" -- I'll go through that as well. --Angelstars24 (talk) 20:10, 23 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. Some basic pointers I would give is familiarize yourself with our core content policies, our refrencing guide for begginers, and the 5 pillars of Wikipedia. Make sure you provide reliable sources for your edits, and use edit summaries. If you have more questions, please do not hesitate to ask. Happy editing! Question from SisterPhraed on Help:Referencing for beginners (20:20, 25 July 2024)
Hello! If I have my entire article, including end notes, can copy and paste it all at once or do I need to add each reference in line as I go along? I'm sorry if this is a stupid question . . . this is the first time I've ever done anything like this! Thanks! --SisterPhraed (talk) 20:20, 25 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. Don't worry, the only stupid question is thinking you don't need to ask any questions. You should add each reference in line with the statement it supports. For example, If reference 1 supported the claim made in only one sentence, then I would add that reference onto that sentence, and only that sentence. Hope this helps. Happy editing! How can I totally remove a draft article? Thanks --SisterPhraed (talk) 17:40, 27 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. Assuming you are the only editor to make any significant edits to the page, you can simply put “{{db-g7}}” on the page, and it should be deleted by an admin shortly thereafter. Happy editing! GrayStorm(Complaints Dept.|My Contribs.) 18:18, 27 July 2024 (UTC)

- Hello. Please use mentorship questions for asking questions about editing wikipedia. You can work on article drafts in subpages of your userspace, such as your sandbox. Please also note that creating an autobiography on wikipedia, as you seem to be doing, is strongly discouraged. If you choose to go through with creating an autobiography, you should declare your conflict of intrest with the article, and sumbit it through articles for creation. Again, I highly discourage creating an autobiography on Wikipedia, but if you choose to do so anyway, following these steps is the proper way to go about it. Question from Thatonegroingly (06:13, 3 August 2024)
Hey, im wanting to make a page on an artist ive been looking into who doesnt have much online info about themselves online in order to provide a source for others who want to look into this artist. Im not sure if this counts as a COI however i flagged it just in case. Because of the lack of sources ive been gathering information from the artist directly, not for the wiki for an assignment im doing on them. Of course if this is to much of a COI ill leave it as i completely get why COI's should be avoided when making or editing a page. However i did want to know, how do you make a page as a source for a topic there arent many sources on? --Thatonegroingly (talk) 06:13, 3 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. First of all, it does not seem like this constitutes a COI. Second, if you can not find significant coverage of this person in reliable sources independent of the subject, then they are simply not notable enough to warrant an article. Hope this helps, happy editing! GrayStorm(Complaints Dept.|My Contribs.) 16:31, 3 August 2024 (UTC)

Question from Teah Siosionoha (01:47, 20 August 2024)
Hi how do I make a professional Wikipedia --Teah Siosionoha (talk) 01:47, 20 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, I'm assuming by this you're meaning you want to create a page for your business. This is highly discouraged, because it would be considered conflict of interest editing, which can easily get you blocked if you don't do it right.
- If you still want to create this article despite my advice, you have to declare your conflict of interest, submit your article via articles for creation, and, if the article gets accepted, you must request edits to it via this template, rather than editing the article directly.
- In addition, if you are being paid to edit wikipedia, please see the following pages before making any edits you're being paid for: WP:PAID (must read), WP:When your boss tells you to edit Wikipedia (should read).

- What are you saying... that i can't trust my own mom? Adlorpy (talk) 04:02, 3 September 2024 (UTC)
- Sorry about the big pause. I was eating dinner and taking a shower (and writing this). Here's the reliable source -- Genesis.
- In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. The earth was without form, and void; and darkness was on the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters. Then God said, "Let there be light." And there was light. And God saw the light, that it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. God called the light Day, and the darkness he called Night. So the evening and the morning were the first day.
- Then God said, "Let there be a firmament in the midst of the waters, and let it divide the waters from the waters." Thus God made the firmament, and divided the waters which were under the firmament from the waters which were above the firmament; and it was so. And God called the firmament Heaven. So the evening and the morning were the second day.
- Then God said, "Let the waters under the heavens be gathered together into one place, and let dry land appear." And it was so. And God called the dry land Earth, and the gathering together of the waters He called Seas. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth grass, the herb that yields seed, and the fruit tree that yields fruit according to its kind, whose seed is in itself, on the earth." And it was so. And the earth brought forth grass, the herb that yields seed according to its kind, and the tree that yields fruit, whose seed is in itself according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the third day.
- Then God said, "Let there be lights in the firmament of the heavens to divide the day from the night; and let them be for signs and seasons, and for days and years; and let them be lights in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth." And it was so. Then God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day, and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. God set them in the firmament of the heavens to give light on the earth, and to rule over the day and over the night, and to divide the light from the darkness. And God saw that it was good. So the evening and the morning were the fourth day.
- Then God said, "Let the waters abound with an abundance of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the face of the firmament of the heavens." So God created giant sea creatures and every living thing that moves, with which the waters abounded, according to their kind, and every winged bird according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. And God blessed them, saying, "Be fruitful and multiply, and fill the waters in the seas, and let birds multiply on the earth." So the evening and the morning were the fifth day.
- Then God said, "Let the earth bring forth living creature according to its kind: cattle and creeping thing and beast of earth, each according to its kind." And it was so. And God made the beast of the earth according to its kind, cattle according to its kind, and everything that creeps on the earth according to its kind. And God saw that it was good. Then God said, "Let Us make man in Our image, according to Our likeness; let them have dominion over the animals."
- Notice there is no mention of dinosaurs. Adlorpy (talk) 04:01, 3 September 2024 (UTC)

Question on the scope of the Biological Rules page
My first project for editing is my favorite page on Wikipedia, Biological rules. While it contains many obscure rules in biology, it has previously not included some very foundational rules, which I am making an effort to add.
I have a dilemma in deciding what to include and what to exclude. Something like the Central Dogma presents very much like a rule, and as such I considered including it. However, if including things that are foundational principles of whole theories, the page may start to overlap with the category Biological Theories. As a counterargument, some statements that are foundational to whole theories are themselves explicitly called laws and fit the standard format of "[Biologist's name] law" such as Mendel's laws of inheritance.
What, would you suggest, should be the factor ruling out or in principles on this page? Bughouse68 (talk) 08:26, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, I would suggest talking about this on the article talk page. That way, anyone watching the page will see the discussion and be able to offer input. Happy editing! GrayStorm(Complaints Dept.|My Contribs.) 14:04, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

Question from SweetLikeCandy101 (16:51, 11 September 2024)
How do you create your own article without any copyright when it comes to photos?
How do you block someone from editing if they vandalize your page? --SweetLikeCandy101 (talk) 16:51, 11 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hello.
- To answer your first question, if you are meaning you need photos that comply with our copyright policy, I would look on Wikimedia Commons. If you are meaning you want to use photos you don't have the copyright too (and are not under a free license), please see the non-free content use guideline.
- To answer your second question, you can give a warning for the first few times a user disrupts an article (please make sure you know the right warning to use, as well as how to use it), and then report then to Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism if they continue.

Hey Grey Storm, I have been having some trouble creating a Wikipedia page for John Vervaeke, so I hope you wouldn't mind me asking for some advice. There is a lot of information out there about John, but it is mainly in the form of YouTubes and Podcasts. I tried to get around the credibility issue by quoting him a lot, but that didn't seem to help. Could you give me some advice on how to cite credible sources? Thanks very much, -John Howell. --John W. Howell (talk) 17:38, 18 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hello. If you are having trouble finding reliable secondary sources, that is a sign that this person is not notable enough to have an article. I would suggest not trying to create this article unless you can find multiple independent reliable secondary sources. Happy editing! Administrator Elections: Call for Candidates
Administrator Elections | Call for Candidates
The administrator elections process has officially started! Interested editors are encouraged to self-nominate or arrange to be nominated by reviewing the instructions at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Call for candidates.
Here is the schedule:
- October 8–14 - Candidate sign-up (we are here)
- October 22–24 - Discussion phase
- October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
Please note the following:
- The requirements to run are identical to RFA—a prospective candidate must be extended confirmed.
- Prospective candidates are advised to become familar with the community's expectations of adminstrators, which are much higher than the minimum requirement of having extended confirmed status. This includes reviewing successful and unsuccessful RFAs, reading the essay Wikipedia:Advice for RfA candidates, and possibly requesting an optional poll on their chances of passing.
- The process will have a one week call for candidates phase, a one week pause to set up SecurePoll, a three-day period of public discussion, followed by 7 days of no public discussion and a private vote using SecurePoll.
- The outcomes of this process are identical to making requests for adminship. There is no official difference between an administrator appointed through RFA or administrator elections.
- Administrator elections are also a valid means of regaining adminship for de-sysopped editors.
Ask any questions about the process at the talk page. A separate user talk message will be sent to official candidates with additional information about the process.
To avoid sending too many messages, this will be the last mass message sent about administrator elections. If you are interested in the process, please make sure to watchlist the appropriate pages. A watchlist notice will be added when the discussion phase opens, and again when the voting phase opens.

Hi. How to create a profile page of mine in Wikipedia --G SIVA PRASATH (talk) 13:00, 11 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello, please see WP:USERPAGE for a detailed guide on what you can and can not have on your userpage. In general, you can put small amounts of autobiographical info on your user page, but you may not user it as a platform for social networking, a place to host your resume, ect. Happy editing! Administrator Elections: Discussion phase
The discussion phase of the October 2024 administrator elections is officially open. As a reminder, the schedule of the election is:
- October 22–24 - Discussion phase
- October 25–31 - SecurePoll voting phase
- November 1–? - Scrutineering phase
During October 22–24, we will be in the discussion phase. The candidate subpages will open to questions and comments from everyone, in the same style as a request for adminship. You may discuss the candidates at Wikipedia:Administrator elections/October 2024/Discussion phase.
On October 25, we will start the voting phase. The candidate subpages will close again to public questions and discussion, and everyone will have a week to use the SecurePoll software to vote, which uses a secret ballot. You can see who voted, but not who they voted for. Please note that the vote tallies cannot be made public until after voting has ended and as such, it will not be possible for you to see an individual candidate's tally during the election. The suffrage requirements are different from those at RFA.
Once voting concludes, we will begin the scrutineering phase, which will last for an indeterminate amount of time, perhaps a week or two. Once everything is certified, the results will be posted on the main election page. In order to be granted adminship, a candidate must have received at least 70.0% support, calculated as Support / (Support + Oppose). As this is a vote and not a consensus, there are no bureaucrat discussions ("crat chats").
Any questions or issues can be asked on the election talk page. Thank you for your participation. Happy electing.

Question from K.holl.97 on User:K.holl.97/Neuroqueer theory (17:17, 30 October 2024)
Hi, I hope you are well. I am updating this article. Part of what I am doing is going back and adding citations to the previously written article. In doing so, I have a question regarding the "Notes" vs "Bibliography" section. By adding citations where they should be, I will end up disrupting the order in which the notes appear. The format of this also seems redundant and confusing when the bibliography also has numbers associated with the different sources. Do I get rid of the notes (knowing it will get rid of the specificity of page numbers) or is there a better way to approach this issue? --K.holl.97 (talk) 17:17, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- Hello.
- Generally, notes are somewhat rarely used, and are only used to give additional explanation. Given this, I think you can get rid of the notes.
- One concern I have regarding the linked page is you say things in italics are taken from an existing work, and a lot of the page is in italics. I don't currently have the time to look into this, but at first glance this seems like it could be a copyright issue.
- I would like you to please delete any content in the linked page that contains copyrighted materials that aren't properly licensed and contact an administarator to delete the infringing revisions. If you don't know how to carry out any of these steps, you can reach out to an experienced editor (like an admin) for help. I would prefer you reach out to another experienced editor rather than me, as I will soon be ocupied and not be able to edit wikipedia for a few hours. Happy editing! GrayStorm(Complaints Dept.|My Contribs.) 17:32, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
- The italics was just how I was differentiating within my sandbox, so I knew what needed to be changed in the article (as suggested by the Wikipedia tutorials) -- I only intend to change what is not italicized and will not carry over this formatting to the article itself. I did this with my professors knowledge and approval. I do not intend to break any copyright laws or claim work that is not mine (which is why included explanations within my user page) K.holl.97 (talk) 17:47, 30 October 2024 (UTC)
