Categories
[edit]Please be more careful when adding categories to pages:
- Firstly, category names are formed in the plural, not in the singular, because the category represents a group of things rather than just one thing. That is, the category is at Category:Nigerian names, plural, not Category:Nigerian name, singular — and, in fact, you've tried to add the singular "Nigerian name" category to several pages that were already in the plural "Nigerian names" category as it is, with no obvious reason why we would ever need two different categories for the same thing. So if a page is already in the plural "Nigerian names", then do not add the singular "Nigerian name" as a separate category alongside it, because that serves no purpose at all.
- Secondly, even when you aren't adding incorrectly-named duplicates of categories that the page is already in, you also aren't allowed to leave pages sitting in redlinked categories that don't exist to have pages in them. If you try to add a category and it shows as a redlink, you must remove it again, and cannot leave it there.
- Thirdly, do not add Category:Nigerian names to pages that are already in Category:Yoruba names either — the Yoruba category is already a subcategory of the Nigerian category, meaning that any page in the Yoruba category is already in the Nigerian category by virtue of being in the Yoruba category, so a page does not need to have both categories on it at the same time.

- Read what I said above again, because I'm still coming across redlinked singular categories that you added either instead of or alongside the pluralized version that already exists, and I'm going to have to report you for being disruptive if it doesn't stop. - Good evening Bearcat, I just saw your message now, I have taken note of your correction Egbezomo Florence Eguono (talk) 20:10, 22 October 2024 (UTC)
