Stavropol

Hello, Goldblooded. You have new messages at Ezhiki's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the {{Talkback}} or {{Tb}} template.

That was a close one at that article. 1 more revert would've gotten you a 1 week block for WP:3RR. Until you get the hang of things, you might limit yourself to 1RR. This will force you to get in the hang of shoveling crap at the talkpage. (Did I mention I was cynical?) Keep in mind that sources are king. No source and anyone can remove your addition. Period. That's policy. Your justification, WP:COMMONSENSE, is an essay and not binding in the majority of cases. – Lionel (talk) 23:18, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Revert

I'm sorry, I was trying to help Jipinghe with something, and I think I may have accidentally mis-clicked on my laptop trackpad. There is no problem with the message. Sorry Amy Z (talk) 14:53, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

We were looking at her edit history, and I think that your talk page shows up as one of her more recent edits. Amy Z (talk) 15:09, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Saint Frutuoso Chapel

Uh. As much as I appreciate you copying my content from my Sandbox to the original article (isn't that robbery?), I don't think that it should have been transferred so hastily, as I had not yet completed the edit work. Ruben JC (Zeorymer) (talk) 15:12, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Funny. You can't steal something that was created under a free license. Get it... free. However Goldbloded should have indicated the original author in the edit summary or on the talk page per the CC-BY-SA attribution requirement. Attribution is required whenever something on Wiki is moved from one place to another. Gold--it's not too late--you can use a WP:null edit to give Ruben credit. – Lionel (talk) 23:01, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

If you check his talkpage , i explained myself there. User:Goldblooded (Return Fire) 12:16, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Mentorship

Hi Goldblooded. I had a request from another editor to look at possibly mentoring you. I just thought I'd leave you a note to say that I'm afraid I'd have to decline, since I have limited time and would prefer not to spend it helping with an editor who is likely to work in such highly political areas. Feel free to come to me if you have any questions ever, I would be happy to answer them. WormTT · (talk) 22:25, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

None off the top of my head, though you might have some luck at WP:ADOPT. And indeed, it was Sigma who pointed you my way. WormTT · (talk) 22:41, 8 October 2011 (UTC)

You have new message/s Hello. You have a new message at Worm That Turned's talk page.

Hi Goldblooded! I'm with the adopt-a-user (mentorship) program. I know someone who would make a great mentor for you. I'll see if they can take you on--I'll get back to you tomorrow. – Lionel (talk) 03:25, 12 October 2011 (UTC)
Well that "someone" became noone, so if you are agreeable, I'll become your mentor. – Lionel (talk) 01:50, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

I would be more than happy to become your adoptee, but could you just clarify how it goes since each mentor has a different way; and what kind of edits do you specialise in? :) User:Goldblooded (Return Fire) 11:52, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Oh and also, i saw you watching some of my edits and the articles i have created; something that i cannot thank enough. Its nice to see someone on your side from time to time :) User:Goldblooded (Return Fire) 11:53, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

Hey Gold--my mentoring style depends on the editor's needs. The first step is to find out what you want out of wikipedia, and then figure out how to get you there. One specific topic we might work on is dispute resolution. I work on all types of articles. Done some work on parochial schools, Star Trek, social issues, conservatism. Lately I've focused on WikiProject Conservatism, Portal Conservatism and the newsletter The Right Stuff. Anyway I'm working on a brief questionnaire to get the ball rolling. I'll post it here presently. – Lionel (talk) 12:05, 14 October 2011 (UTC)

So your more right wing orientated? Yeah i am as well, i support the tory party (Im not sure if your from the UK or not but it is the equalivalent of the Republican party in the US , while the labour and liberal parties are simular to the democrat party. My interests (as you may of read my userpage) is primarily history and politics and a lot of my articles and edits are related to those 2 subjects, although recently i have been a new page patroller and im becoming a whizz at using Twinkle; and yeah i have been tripped up before over dispute resolution which led to me being banned in a simular fashion to your friend, Fountainkid. Also, how active are you and would you be offended if i ask you questions and asking you for things such as WP:Third Opinion? Looking forward to filling in your questionaire as well. User:Goldblooded (Return Fire) 13:03, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Well let's just say I have an interest in conservatism-related articles. Twinkle is the best thing since sliced bread. I have a 1 day turnaround. I would be happy to answer any questions you have and to give you a third opinion: that's what I get paid for.<g> – Lionel (talk) 13:14, 14 October 2011 (UTC)
Ok. The questionnaire is ready. Here it is:

Some thoughts/suggestions:

  1. Your articles need more work before they're ready for Featured Article. DYK is a more attainable goal. Just remember the article has to be 1500 chars, and nominate it within 5 days.
  2. With some work History of Lacock could pass WP:GAN. Prior to that you'll want to do a peer review. Luckily WP:WikiProject History has a Peer Review dept here: Wikipedia:WikiProject_History/Review/Peer_review. See also WP:PR.
  3. Noticed User:Goldblooded/Notable people interviewed in the World at War in your userspace. Lists can be tricky when it comes to Notability. I'd like to suggest that you run this by WP:N/N just to be on the safe side. You don't wanna put all of that work into it and have someone AfD it. Btw this would be a good DYK when you move it to mainspace.
  4. I see you've joined MILHIST. Wikiprojects are a great way to meet other editors. WP:RIGHT is also a great group: I highly recommend them. I'd like to suggest that you intro yourself to user:Rjensen. When you see his userpage you'll know why.
  5. If you're looking for something a little ambitious, you can setup a collaboration. A collab is when a group of editors team up on a specific article, usually via a wikiproject. Example: you could post messages at WT:RIGHT, Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Politics_of_the_United_Kingdom, Wikipedia_talk:UK_Wikipedians'_notice_board and Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Political_parties asking for editors to promote Conservative Party (UK) to Good Article. I picked that article because it's developed and has a lot of exposure. It's Top priority for 3 wikiprojects, and it got 47222 page views over the last 30 days! You'll meet other editors, improve your editing skills and learn how the GAN process works.
  6. Interactions with other editors: consider 1RR until January. Post a note on my talk if anyone bothers you. Intro yourself to admins user:Kubigula and user:Atama. Tell them you're my adoptee. They can also help out if someone tries to bite you.

This should keep you busy for a while. Let me know if you have any questions. If more ideas come to mind I'll post them. – Lionel (talk) 11:21, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

  • One more: criteria for Featured List is not as stringent as Featured Article. Keep that in mind when you move Notable people interviewed to mainspace. – Lionel (talk) 00:19, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Grigori Tokaty

That article is coming along nicely. I think you might be interested in Did You Know. It's a great way to get acknowledgment for new articles. It's a way for your article to get noticed on the WP:Main Page of Wikipedia, meaning the entire planet will see it. While it's a day late for Tokaty (the cutoff is 5 days), keep it in mind for you next creation.– Lionel (talk) 02:54, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

You mean it has to be less than 5 days old to be in the did you know section? User:Goldblooded (Return Fire) 12:15, 15 October 2011 (UTC)

Yes. And your excellent article History of Lacock also missed by a day. You have a real knack for this wiki thing. Your creations are quality. You deserve this:

Lionel (talk) 00:03, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

Thanks for the barnstar , I really appreciate it :) its nice to hear a compliment from time to time on here and knowing that my work is in fact being aknowledged. However, concerining my articles; i guess thats too bad its over the time limit, but how come its only 5 days? You'd think it would be at least a week or so. Also , thanks for the advice about the questionaire , ill take that into mind :)User:Goldblooded (Return Fire) 15:00, 16 October 2011 (UTC)

They want new articles, which they define as no more than 5 days old. – Lionel (talk) 00:09, 17 October 2011 (UTC)
Alternatively, you can expand an article at least 5x to 1000+ words within 5 days. 1-line stubs like this are easy to get to this.
If you are interested in expanding some more of them, the collapsed navbox at the bottom has many. →Στc. 00:13, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

You have new message/s Hello. You have a new message at WT:WikiProject Conservatism's talk page.Lionel (talk) 03:33, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

So what are the requirements to get to DYK status, do i have to get the article to C status or something? and why 5 days? User:Goldblooded (Return Fire) 14:52, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

A stub is OK, there is no class, i.e. "C" requirement. Here are the rules: Wikipedia:Did_you_know#Selection_criteria. – Lionel (talk) 19:35, 17 October 2011 (UTC)

Recent interactions

Goldblooded, you've been skating on thin ice already, and you revert-war on another editor's talk page? I could indef block you right now and almost certainly have adequate support in any ANI that results from it. I'm not going to, though – I'm going to give you an unconditional last-chance offer. Please don't screw it up; I don't want to block you, but you need to show me you can interact with other editors on a regular basis. If you can't, there is no pace for you here. Suggestion

Check with your mentor before proxying a noticeboard report for Barts1a. I don't think this is a good idea. --Floquenbeam (talk) 23:12, 24 October 2011 (UTC)

Hey Goldblooded. I've had a bit of a look and I'd suggest that Floquenbeam is right. Barts1a has a mentor of his own who could proxy the notice board report, or that he could discuss things with. I think personally that Barts1a is over-reacting, desperate for a block. What the other user is doing is not vandalism - they are not deliberately trying to harm the encyclopedia. It's good faith, but incorrect, editing. It would be much more helpful to explain the situation to the other user, as Moxy is trying to do on their talk page. Screaming and shouting, as Barts1a is doing is not going to help, and nor will taking it to the noticeboards. An inability to correctly classify vandalism may be something to do with why he doesn't edit noticeboards. Have a word with Lionelt to see if he agrees and if you like, send Barts1a to this message, and on to me, I'll happily talk more. WormTT · (talk) 13:59, 25 October 2011 (UTC)

WP: British Empire

Yeah, it never really got going, unfortunately. I think the subject was just so well covered already that there wasn't much for us to do, plus as you mentioned many of the members have left the project. I'd love to see someone kick start it again, though. -- MichiganCharms (talk) 02:13, 3 November 2011 (UTC)

Userpage Navboxes

These are simply pages that are copied (transcluded) onto other pages. If you have a look at mine (User:Black Kite/Navigation) for example, you could just copy that into your own user space (as, say User:Goldblooded/Navigation) and then change the links to point to what you want to link to. The one you gave an example of (which is better than mine) is User:Cameron/Nav. Give me a shout if you get stuck. Thanks, Black Kite (t) 00:14, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

  • I've copied my Navigation page to your user area (User:Goldblooded/Navigation). You'll see there's a separate section of three lines for each link. The first line (for example "Articles") is what will appear next to the link. The second line contains the image you want to use, and where the user is going to be sent. So for example the image next to my "Articles" link is "Nuvola apps knewsticker.png" and when the user clicks it they'll go to User:Black Kite/Articles.
  • You set the background colour in the first section - mine is black, so it's "background-color: #000000". You change the last number to set your background colour - a full list can be found at X11 color names, just replace the "#000000" with the number in the Hex Triplet column next to the colour you want (so for example Indigo would be "#4B0082". The colour of the text is set in the same way, in the first line - mine is "#B0E0E6" (Powder Blue), just change this as well in the same way. Hope this helps, Black Kite (t) 14:32, 5 November 2011 (UTC)
