Removal of valid categories from articles

[edit]

I'm sure there's an outstanding reason why you're doing this, probably something to do with Categories needing consistency, but by removing Cats without any useful edit summary, you are giving an appearance of being a vandal and I'm really pushing AGF hard not to mass revert you. You need to think about other editors when doing this kind of thing. --Dweller (talk) 21:13, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Hi there! Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia.

When editing Wikipedia, there is a field labeled "Edit summary" below the main edit box. It looks like this:

Edit summary (Briefly describe your changes)

As here.

Edit summary content is visible in:

Please use the edit summary to explain your reasoning for the edit, or a summary of what the edit changes. Thanks! Epeefleche (talk) 23:28, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not empty categories just so they can be deleted. Read up on the requirements for category deletion at WP:CFD, especially notice the area for Wikipedia:Categories for discussion#Categories possibly emptied out of process. Liz Read! Talk! 01:59, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Stop now

[edit]

You've been told to stop and discuss. Stop now and discuss. I will not block you myself, because we are in dispute, but I will ask another administrator to block you if you do not stop making mass changes to Categories without consensus. --Dweller (talk) 09:24, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

See the discussion at WT:JUDAISM. And the comments sections above this. --Dweller (talk) 09:26, 31 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

See the wisdom of DGG at WT:JUDAISM: "Glovacki, mass changes in categories are not a place where being Bold is usually helpful. they take so much work to undo, that they really ought to be discussed first, even when you're certain that you;re right. (Personally, I feel that way abut mass changes or edits or nominations in anything unless we're dealing with vandalism). Information icon Hello, I'm Iryna Harpy. Wikipedia is written by people who have a wide diversity of opinions, but we try hard to make sure articles have a neutral point of view. Your recent edit to West Galicia seemed less than neutral to me, so I removed it for now. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Iryna Harpy (talk) 05:38, 3 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Please refrain from making unconstructive edits to Wikipedia, as you did at Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria. Your edits appear to be disruptive and have been reverted or removed.

  • If you are engaged in an article content dispute with another editor then please discuss the matter with the editor at their talk page, or the article's talk page. Alternatively you can read Wikipedia's dispute resolution page, and ask for independent help at one of the relevant notice boards.
  • If you are engaged in any other form of dispute that is not covered on the dispute resolution page, please seek assistance at Wikipedia's Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents.

Please ensure you are familiar with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines, and please do not continue to make edits that appear disruptive, until the dispute is resolved through consensus. Continuing to edit disruptively could result in loss of editing privileges. Thank you. Iryna Harpy (talk) 22:50, 6 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Information icon Welcome to Wikipedia. At least one of your recent edits, such as the edit you made to Western Ukrainian clergy, did not appear to be constructive and has been reverted or removed. Although everyone is welcome to contribute to Wikipedia, please take some time to familiarise yourself with our policies and guidelines. You can find information about these at the welcome page which also provides further information about contributing constructively to this encyclopedia. If you only meant to make some test edits, please use the sandbox for that. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you may leave a message on my talk page. Thank you. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Aprium, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Brown rot. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of Nahor, son of Serug, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://www.bing.com/knows/nahor?mkt=zh-cn.

It is possible that the bot was mistaken and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. Historical Burgundy map

[edit]

Hello Glovacki- Explaining my revert of your addition of the Burgundy map: Those don't look like modern regional borders, if that's what you intended to portray. If you want to show how the historical extent of Burgundy compares to present-day regional borders, you would want to put the borders layer above the province polygon. Otherwise, if the borders you show are those of former provinces, you should indicate that as well as what era they represent. This category page on Commons might be a good place to look for examples. Also, please make a habit of providing edit summaries. Eric talk 12:33, 29 August 2016 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

Hello. A tag has been placed on Case of Schlitke requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about something invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. —Oluwa2Chainz »» (talk to me) 15:38, 3 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Copying within Wikipedia requires proper attribution

[edit]

Information icon Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. It appears that you copied or moved text from Neutron into Free neutron decay. While you are welcome to re-use Wikipedia's content, here or elsewhere, Wikipedia's licensing does require that you provide attribution to the original contributor(s). When copying within Wikipedia, this is supplied at minimum in an edit summary at the page into which you've copied content. It is good practice, especially if copying is extensive, to also place a properly formatted {{copied}} template on the talk pages of the source and destination. The attribution has been provided for this situation, but if you have copied material between pages before, even if it was a long time ago, please provide attribution for that duplication. You can read more about the procedure and the reasons at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia. Thank you. If you are the sole author of the prose that was moved, attribution is not required. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 15:13, 4 September 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Just a heads up, Glovacki, that I moved Category:Wikidata-redirects to Category:Wikidata redirects to minus the hyphen. The former has been tagged with a {{db-catempty}} since all the entries are in the new category. And I like the new special rcat template you created!  Paine Ellsworth  u/c 16:07, 27 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
