Changes to my user page, User:Wikipidian

[edit]

Dear user General Eisonhower your edit of my user page was unjustified, previous allegations of supposed sockpuppetry led to a checkuser which proved me not being the same person as raphael1. And since I have been blocked for a week I can't see that any new evidence has emerged, so I removed your sockpuppet template (ok ok JDoorJam [respect!] beat me to it). If you have any more questions please let me know. Wikipidian 22:32, 6 May 2006 (UTC) Talk[reply]

I have nominated Category:Suspected Sockpuppets of General Eisenhower for CfD. Please feel free to discuss its deletion at the Categories for Deletion page. DarthVader 02:06, 7 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #3

[edit]
The Administrator Coaching program is a program aimed at preparing Wikipedians for Adminship or helping them understand the intricacies of Wikipedia better. Recently, changes have been made to the requirements of coachees. Please review them before requesting this service.
This would be something like the Welcoming Committee, but for people who have figured out the basics of editing articles; they're not newcomers any more, but they might want some help in learning new roles. Some might like suggestions about how to learn vandal patrol, or mentoring on taking an article to featured status, or guidance with a proposal they plan to make at the Village Pump, for example. In this way, Esperanza would help keep hope alive for Wikipedia because we would always be grooming the next generation of admins.
The Stressbusters are a subset of Esperanza aiming to investigate the causes of stress. New eyes on the situation are always welcome!
Note from the editor
As always, MiszaBot handled this delivery. Thank you! Also, congratulations go to Pschemp, Titoxd and Freakofnurture for being elected in the last elections! An Esperanzial May to all of the readership!
  1. Posting logs of the Esperanza IRC channel are explicitly banned anywhere. Violation of this rule results in deletion and a ban from the channel.
  2. A disclaimer is going to be added to the Esperanza main page. We are humans and, as such, are imperfect.
  3. Various revisions have been made to the Code of Conduct. Please see them, as the proposal is ready to be ratified by the community and enacted. All members will members to have to re-confirm their membership after accepting the Code of Conduct.
  4. Referendums are to be held on whether terms of AC members should be lengthened and whether we should abolish votes full stop.
  5. Admin Coaching reform is agreed upon.
Signed...

Hi General! I hope things are going well. I noticed you merged Jawaharlal Nehru Port and Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust into one page under the latter's name. Don't you think it might be better to merge them the other way round? I think that the port is the important thing, not the company that runs it. Perhaps we should swap it? What are you thoughts? The Aztec Warriors images function best at large size

[edit]

I brought the two Image:Florentine Codex IX Aztec Warriors.jpg images up to a size where the reader can see the detail (e.g. the warriors' bare feet and obsidian swords) without having to click to another page (in general, I'm not sure why so many Wikipedians prefer small images). Thanks, Madman 04:01, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome to the Military history WikiProject!

[edit]

Hi, and welcome to the Military history WikiProject! As you may have guessed, we're a group of editors working to improve Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to military history.

A few features that you might find helpful:

There are a variety of interesting things to do within the project; you're free to participate however much—or little—you like:

  • Starting some new articles? Our article structure guidelines outline some things to include.
  • Interested in working on a more complete article? The military history peer review and collaboration departments would welcome your help!
  • Interested in a particular area of military history? We have a number of task forces that focus on specific nations or periods.
  • Want to know how good our articles are? The assessment department is working on rating the quality of every military history article in Wikipedia.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask one of the project coordinators, or any experienced member of the project, and we'll be happy to help you. Again, welcome! We look forward to seeing you around! Kirill Lokshin 21:46, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

What's wrong with just doing everything right here? Unlike some of the more unusual topics, there's no issue of military history stuff being deleted off Wikipedia, or anything like that. Kirill Lokshin 21:51, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Signature

[edit]

Hi general, I noticed that you've got a link to War Wikia in your sig, and just wanted to mention that I don't think you're allowed to user external links in your signature. You might want to change it... ConDemTalk 22:31, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, I'm not sure how Angela will help. By the way, did you think about the Jawaharlal Nehru port thing? Do you think we should swap it so that the article is at the port name, not the trust name? ConDemTalk 22:48, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

NoSeptember talk 22:52, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You could link to a user subpage where you list and have links to all of your other projects. NoSeptember talk 23:13, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
OK, I've swapped the pages. Take a look, and tell me what you think! By the way, I think your sig might be way too long now. Take a look at WP:SIG for the guidelines on signatures... ConDemTalk 23:34, 8 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know why you thought I'd help. I'm not going to let my involvement with Wikia override the feeling I have that it's completely inappropriate to spam any site in a signature. I also don't think you should have an image in your sig. Have you read Wikipedia:Signature#Things to avoid? Angela. 02:50, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The General has put his signature up for a poll here

Curious about that first Barnstar, General . . . .

[edit]

General, I noticed that you received your first Barnstar from User:PaleoGenious only 2½ hours after PaleoGenious created his/her account. About half-an-hour after awarding you that barnstar, PaleoGenious made his/her last edit and has not been heard from since, at least under than nom de plume.

Strangely enough, PaleoGenious' second User Contribution was a posting on your User Talk page stating: "General Eisenhower is on vacation to Kokomo and the Bahamas 'til May 1." Do you know this person??

Curiously yours, Madman 00:22, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, you do know him very well, then, eh? Well, some folks might find that first Barnstar to not quite on the up-and-up. Madman 00:31, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I'm also curious; User:Tennessee Wood, User:Old Abe, User:Code Napoleon and User:PaleoGenious all share your distinct style of writing and participate in many of the same projects as yourself. I'm not saying they're your sockpuppets; they could be learning how to use Wikipedia from you. However, there is a bit of similarity, and if they were your sockpuppets, it would be a large violation of WP:SOCK. Please consider what I've said and don't be upset; I'm not attacking you or getting angry, just inquiring about something. Thanks, Mopper Speak! 05:28, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And also User:Rayven the Crook. --GeorgeMoney T·C 05:35, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Personally, if I were using so many sockpuppets that I had my own category, I'd have that thing on my userpage! "Look, I'm over here! No, I'm over here! Bwahaha!" ... y'know? :D
I'd probably like to suggest that you avoid voting on anything with more than one account (including AfD/RfA/etc) but otherwise, y'know, have fun and make Wikipedia a better place! ~Kylu (u|t) 18:42, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And User:GeorgeMoney and User:Sergeant Snopake. I know I'm replying to GeorgeMoney but you have to admit there are some similarities. Powers 12:28, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also see Category:Suspected Sockpuppets of General Eisenhower, which adds User:My Old Kentucky Home to the list. Powers 12:32, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am not a sockpuppet of anybody. --GeorgeMoney T·C 14:57, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It is also possible that User:Oreos and User:Sergeant Snopake are sockpuppets too. These users have less than 300 edits, with heaps of edits to user talk and user namespaces (like our friend General Eisenhower here). They are also both members of the cat wikiproject. In fact, quite a few of these suspected sockpuppets are part of that particular project. DarthVader 23:40, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Also, User:Gangsta-Easter-Bunny could be a sockpuppet to. look at his contribs his first edit was joining WP:WPCAT and the first edit after that, that is not on his userpage, is talking to General Eisenhower. --GeorgeMoney T·C 01:07, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Gangsta bunny has a very similar signature to Eisenhower's, as well. Also, the subpages and all also mirror Ike. Plus, he stole my userbox! (the Metallica one) :P Mopper Speak! 01:53, 10 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No reason to be too concerned folks. Back on March 15th I started identifying possible sockpuppets. General Eisenhower created the category himself and listed the users I had identified back then. This seems to be another act of drawing attention to himself more than anything. His history is filled with other acts of attention seeking. We should give attention when he makes good encyclopedia contributions, not for all the silliness he is always producing. As long as he doesn't use sockpuppets abusively, let's move on. And Ike, constantly wasting users time on things like MfD's for your Wiki Supreme Court, your signature (several times), your unuseful edits to Image files, and so forth... is disruptive. Please stop, you do not have an inalienable right to be disruptive of Wikipedia. NoSeptember talk 12:53, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

They aren't being used for abuse or anything "eeeevil", but they could be seen as being used for deception. Just don't want Ike to be banned or something because of a violation of WP:SOCK. Mopper Speak! 16:42, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I suspect he is joining Esperanza and Community Justice under multiple names, so that he can take over their elective positions at some point in the future ;-). NoSeptember talk 18:11, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I can see being upset over changing consensus or groups (nonwiki) with actual voting, but considering there's no limitations on giving barnstars, nor do they actually have any meaning outside of the feelings and appreciation involved, I don't see it being particularly damaging. I've yet to find a rule that says I can't give myself one of each barnstar...but would it be meaningful? 207.145.133.34 22:57, 9 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I will explain myself. I know the User:Sabertiger outside of Wikipedia. They told me to look at their vandal fighting idea on Funnybunny's talk page. Then I went to General Eisenhower's page to see who he was. I liked his signature. And I like cats. I just delayed making my userpage to find userboxes for it. Without userboxes, userpages are boring. And DarthVader, are you some kind of sockpuppet control?... That's a Wikipedia job I would love to have! :) :) :)--Gangsta-Easter-Bunny 22:48, 11 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Rayven the Crook is one of my friends I really like. Tennessee Wood is one of my old college friends whose original account (the account was Taylor Pruette) was deleted. PaleoGenious is my cousin. Code Napoleon is an old college roommate. Old Abe is well (embarresed) my uncle. So I DO know all these Wikipedians. General Eisenhower (talk of my war years) (talk here) (Help ME Improve) (war or Magic) (History here) (Kokomo) (Espanol) (Military) (Thank you for Victory in World War II) (Whom I like very much) (Need Help?) (General Eisenhower) 21:17, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'll assume good faith and accept this explanation. Sorry about the misunderstanding, but they just seem very much like you. Mopper Speak! 21:47, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
No problem. I do have another bone to pick however... could you please consider shortening your signature just a bit? As that is a huge amount of links, and a lot of code too. Some users may start complaining, as long signatures can become disruptive. Also, I don't get the Suspected Sockpuppets of General Eisenhower thing... I don't see how you can suspect people of being your sockpuppets. :\ Mopper Speak! 21:52, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I accept this explanation in its entirety. It makes sense now because it seemed that you all knew each other a bit too well for wikipedians just randomly meeting each other online. Thanks very much for the explanation. Happy editing! DarthVader 09:54, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Yep-- at least we know most of those aren't sockpuppets. For one, I'm not his sockpuppet. :P OreosTalkContribs 20:23, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
On a similar vein, neither am I. Sergeant Snopake 21:24, 23 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'm my own sockpuppet. :D --TBC 04:31, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:MuppetsXmas.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:MuppetsXmas.JPG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

So please, be bold in the WikiProject and related articles as in any other field of Wikipedia. Any input is most welcome! And remember that if you need help, you can post on the talk page any time, or you can ask me. Take care. IronChris | (talk) 04:33, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Blue hills of Tennessee.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rory096 06:54, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Community Justice Newsletter

[edit]

Community Justice Newsletter

Welcome
Previously, various notices regarding Community Justice have gone out to our members; though this is the first actual newsletter. This issue will contain information regarding decisions made on the first meeting, our new council, and more...!

If you wish to unsubscribe to future newsletters, please add your name to Wikipedia:Community Justice/Do Not Spam.

New Council
Following our first elections, a new council has been elected.Computerjoe and Ian13 remain as chairman and chief executive (respectively); while Eddieh, Wiki alf and Xchrisblackx are replaced as councillors by Ilyanep, Osbus and Covington. The Giant Puffin and Pureblade remain as councillors.
Member Conduct
In the last meeting, the conduct of 4 members was discussed. Ethnopunk will be put on probation, supervised by Ian13, if he/she is incivil during this probation, he/she will be expelled from WP:CJ; the same was decided for Misza13 (voluntarily), and his probation will be supervised by Computerjoe. No action will be taken against Computerjoe.
Barnstar
The Civility Barnstar which our members have designed has been sent to Barnstar and award proposals. We'd appreciate your feedback!

Also, we are planning to make a Community Justice barnstar to give to hard-working CJ members. If you're a budding designer, consider trying to make it, then post your proposal to WT:CJ!

Name and logo change
There has been no consensus reached regarding changing our name and/or logo neither at WT:CJ nor at WT:CJ/M/1. While suggestions are still welcome, no action will be taken at this time.
Programs
We are going to try to create programs to more actively involve our members. If you have any ideas, please drop a line at WT:CJ. We will try to work with WP:ESP on one of these programs, at some point in the future.
Thanks!
Thank you for your time. If you need anything, feel free to comment at WT:CJ or come into our IRC channel [1].

Computerjoe wishes to extend his thanks to User:Robchurch, a non-member who assisted in making {{tracker}} redundant, as well as Misza13 for his continued support and to the whole of this and the previous council.

This newsletter was delivered by CJBot, written by Computerjoe, with technical help from Misza13. Computerjoe's talk 19:30, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Will you join My Picture of the Day? The reason I have it, is so images that aren't Featured quality can still be featured. Anybody can put a picture there. All you have to do is pick a day for your picture, and create a page in "User:GeorgeMoney/Month DayNumber, Year". Then, use the following format: Put {{SUBST:User:GeorgeMoney/potd/template|image=Your image.jpg|width=500px (optional)|description=<an optional description>|size=250px (optional)|user=Your Username}} on the page of the day you are creating (Remember for all of the optional variables that you don't use, totally remove them from the syntax). Then all you have to do is put {{User:GeorgeMoney/potd}} on your userpage, and it will automatically make the picture for the day. If you want to have it show your picture forever, put {{User:GeorgeMoney/potd|May 47, 2009}}. Replace "May 47, 2009" with the day your picture will be on.

Also, can you add your name to My Spamlist? Don't worry, my spam isn't bad and annoying like the Esperanza and Community Justice spam. My spam is just news and events in plain text formatting like this.

Thanks, --GeorgeMoney T·C 02:12, 15 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging for Image:FactMonster.gif

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:FactMonster.gif. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. If you don't indicate the source and creator of the image on the image's description page, it may be deleted some time in the next seven days. If you have uploaded other images, please verify that you have provided source information for them as well.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Could you please not include links to external websites (like Wikia) in your signature? That sort of thing is rather frowned upon, as it tends to become a type of spamming. Thanks! Kirill Lokshin 17:38, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Again, you really shouldn't have external links in your signature, particularly as you're using it quite widely. Kirill Lokshin 20:19, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Given that you're effectively spamming dozens of pages with an unrelated external link, I would say no. Could you perhaps create a user subpage with the links and link your signature to that instead? Kirill Lokshin 20:23, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I would guess that was intended as general guidance, not as a defense for actual policy violations in a signature. Kirill Lokshin 20:27, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I am not answering. General Eisenhower • (at war or at peace) 20:28, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have to change it; however, some people don't really like external links in signatures. You can put the link on your userpage if you want; and I'm not trying to force you to do anything, but consider yourself warned if someone in the future asks you to remove the link. Thanks, Mopper Speak! 21:37, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I'll quit using my sig if you're happy. General Eisenhower 21:39, 16 May 2006 (UTC)
No, you don't have to quit; just try to at least loosly conform to the guidelines. You can put in an external link, just someone might not like that and tell you to take it out. Mopper Speak! 21:42, 16 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Subtlety is lost on you, it seems. Please remove the external link from your signature, as it constitutes a form of spamming that is highly frowned upon. I think it would be best if you did this of your own volition, rather than being forced into it. Kirill Lokshin 20:56, 17 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

License tagging for Image:Lightning barnstar.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Lightning barnstar.jpg.

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:06, 17 May 2006 (UTC)

Proposed U.S. presidents newsletter

[edit]

I don't think a newsletter with "updates, New Articles to be worked on, and the changes made around the Project page" is really worth it. We aren't getting any new articles, we have 42 biographies and about five support articles. the scope of the project is pretty well defined. Have a News section if you must. But our goals are clear. We get everything assessed, put up templates on the talk pages, improve the B-Class things to A-Class, then try to run everything through peer review and FAC. And, instead of randomly chosen AAAs, what about two teams: one that works on B-Class articles and gets them to A-Class, and one that gets the A-Class to FA-Class? And don't assign people duties. Let them pick what they want to do. They did not sign their username in blood to the devil; you can't force them to do anything. And then keep people focused on one thing. Get those who improve the A-Class article on George Washington; he needs it. And those on the B-Class end might (or might not) start on George W. Bush, and try to diffuse the situation.--HereToHelp 00:11, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your signature

[edit]

Hi! I just dropped by to ask you if you would change your sig a little? For starters you have an image in it which is strongly discouraged, see WP:SIG. Also the first G has a link to a huge page of images that may cause problems for some editors because of the size of the page....there's no way to tell what you're getting into until it's too late. Here's the section about images in signatures.

  • they use additional server resources,
  • they can reduce searchability and make it more difficult to copy text from a page,
  • they are potentially distracting from the actual message,
  • in most browsers, images do not scale with the text, making lines with images higher than those without.

Thanks! Rx StrangeLove 21:59, 19 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly unfree Eisenhower's Uncle.jpg

[edit]
An image that you uploaded or altered, Image:Eisenhower's Uncle.jpg, has been listed at Wikipedia:Possibly unfree images. If the image's copyright status cannot be verified, it may be deleted. Please go to its page to provide the necessary information on the source or licensing of this image (if you have any), if you are interested in it not being deleted. Thank you.

You've tagged this as public domain as created by you. Clearly it is not, it is a photo of a newspaper and the newspaper retain copyright over their material and you can no more use it as a public domain image than you could photograph every page of a book and start selling copies. That would mean the only potential claim for use is fair use, which as it is only used on your user page is not a valid license. --pgk(talk) 17:35, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

VandalProof 1.2 Now Available

[edit]

After a lenghty, but much-needed Wikibreak, I'm happy to announce that version 1.2 of VandalProof is now available for download! Beyond fixing some of the most obnoxious bugs, like the persistent crash on start-up that many have experienced, version 1.2 also offers a wide variety of new features, including a stub-sorter, a global user whitelist and blacklist, navigational controls, and greater customization. You can find a full list of the new features here. While I believe this release to be a significant improvement over the last, it's nonetheless nowhere near the end of the line for VandalProof. Thanks to Rob Church, I now have an account on test.wikipedia.org with SysOp rights and have already been hard at work incorporating administrative tools into VandalProof, which I plan to make available in the near future. An example of one such SysOp tool that I'm working on incorporating is my simple history merge tool, which simplifies the process of performing history merges from one article into another. Anyway, if you haven't already, I'd encourage you to download and install version 1.2 and take it out for a test-drive. As always, your suggestions for improvement are always appreciated, and I hope that you will find this new version useful. Happy editing! --AmiDaniel (talk) 02:25, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Improvements to User Page

[edit]

Hello General Eisenhower! I saw your request to improve your user page. So I had a go:

  • Removed the "Please fix my user page" box and comment below.
  • Moved the welcome message to a new section. I thought you might like to add a bit about yourself there.
  • Moved the links to your accounts into a new section and reordered them alphabetically by site name.
  • Reordered the userboxes. They are in the order of things about you, projects you belong to and then anything else.
  • Removed the wikipedia signpost because it was making the right side really long. I added a userbox in instead.
  • Fixed the spelling of "encyclopaedia" and added an exclamation mark, because it looked like it deserved one :)
  • Removed the comment about stubs. That kind of thing should be on talk pages.
  • Changed the wording slightly on your firsts section and added a specific link to your first edit.
  • Made the links into a list and added names to the links.
  • Removed "My" from the secion titles, I think it's implied on user pages.
  • Changed the userpage box to the normal one because it works better and it doesn't use any vendor specific stuff.
  • Various other minor fixes. Like removing all capital letters from words, fixing spelling and so on.

Wow, I've spent longer on your user page than mine! I hope you like the improvements, but I wont be offended in any way if you choose not to keep them. Icey 08:33, 27 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

[edit]

Hello there, I was just wondering if you could enlighten me on the purpose of the following pages; this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, and this. From what I can tell, they are all subpages with a bunch of pictures on them. Though I'm not saying that I want you to stop using subpages forever, I fail to see the point of a billion subpages, many fair use images, just sitting around (remember, fair use images can't be used on userpages). There are more, but I didn't want to seem like I'm trying to intimidate you. And remember, Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, not a free web host, nor is it a mirror of images, links, etc. Please consider the points I have brought up, and your thoughts on this matter would be appreciated. Cheers, Master of Puppets That's hot. 02:19, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

A list the scale of what you're thinking would require a lot more than one person; plus, one already exists, so it isn't really needed. Master of Puppets FREE BIRD! 23:59, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
And even if you did manage to program that, I couldn't be able to host it because of the size. --GeorgeMoney T·C 00:07, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
How about on all awards not documented on the awards pages? General Eisenhower • (at war or at peace ☢✍☎☺) 00:14, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
That will be easy. General Eisenhower • (at war or at peace ☢✍☎☺) 00:25, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
What do you mean? --GeorgeMoney T·C 00:33, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
It will be easy to document undocumented awards. General Eisenhower • (at war or at peace) 00:46, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

He means all the awards (barnstars, etc.) documented. That is already done at WP:Barnstar and the linked pages; however, may I ask why you all of a sudden want to create a list of things, no matter what they may be? Master of Puppets FREE BIRD! 00:48, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
I meant UNDOCUMENTED AWARDS. General Eisenhower • (at war or at peace) 00:48, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please be civil. --GeorgeMoney T·C 00:50, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You don't need to create a list for those, just add them to WP:PUA or one of the related pages. Master of Puppets FREE BIRD! 01:57, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Alright, there is no reason why you should be suffixing a page in your userspace .exe/.zip. I have renamed the page to 'general' and have fixed all redirects and links. — Nathan (talk) 17:49, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Your Username (Keep:3) / (Change:1)

[edit]

Your username is in breach of WP:USERNAME. I suggest you change it. Computerjoe's talk 09:53, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

(Keep)All right 2 me.--Gangsta-Easter-Bunny 16:18, 29 May 2006 (UTC) Besides, Eisenhower is dead. DUH!--Gangsta-Easter-Bunny 16:18, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Well, apparently everything is solved in Wikipedia with polls, thats a new one! (and for any games which may be in progress, consider this a change or any other terminology which indicates that your current username could be seen as offencive or defamatory towards a famous person). Ian13/talk 17:00, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

How is it dis-honoring Eisenhower? --GeorgeMoney T·C 17:05, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
In the name of all of humanity I am fully devoted to studying him and I always have. General Eisenhower • (at war or at peace) 17:53, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have to say that this is all a little terse for members of a civility group. Isn't there a nicer way to approach an established user whose username you feel might breach policy? Rx StrangeLove 17:57, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

And they accused me of incivility when I was being completely civil. --GeorgeMoney T·C 18:00, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Please do not refer to contributors as they. People are people, and you should not treat them differently based on what groups they are in. Ian13/talk 10:23, 30 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Does breach policy. I think Ian got the wrong part of WP:USERNAME. See Names of VIPs or well-known historical figures (e.g. Benjamin Franklin; Chuck Norris). Computerjoe's talk 18:01, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Na, I know of it, I am just saying how it could be viewed besides the obvious. An extra viewpoint as-it-were. Ian13/talk 19:15, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
See WP:USERNAME#Real_names_versus_pseudonyms. It says "Do not use the real name of a well-known figure, especially one still living, ". Well, for your information, Ike Eisenhower is dead. --GeorgeMoney T·C 18:08, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Isn't Benjamin Franklin? Also, by stating on the suerpage I am general and future president Eisenhower you are implying you actually are him Computerjoe's talk 18:22, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
EDIT CONFLICT: especially one still living doesn't mean you can use it when the person is dead. The opinion of the Powers That Be should be sought, as the rules aren't really clear on this particular case. Oh, and to some of the above people, please try to be more courteous; if someone has a concern, talk about it calmly and assume good faith, instead of shouting "Duh" and accusing people of bad faith. Thanks, Master of Puppets FREE BIRD! 18:28, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, whatever. I don't want to be involved in a debate about a policy. Bye! --GeorgeMoney T·C 18:33, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Ah, sorry, looking though, it looks like if your destination account exists but have no edits, you need to go where you have gone. Obviously, if your requested name doesn't exist, I advise you add yourself to the link I just gave instead (its likely to be a ton quicker looking at the otherpages backlog). Thanks! Re "vandalise" page.

[edit]

Regarding your edit to User:nathanrdotcom/Vandalise: I've asked you before to use the page properly (it's like a guestbook). If you cannot comply, every change you make will be reverted.

I fail to see how "I am not changing my username" is relevant to the page or its content. I did not ask you to change your username. How is this relevant? You have already signed the page once. Thanks. — Nathan (talk) 19:14, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

File:Atlanticpuffin4.jpg Hail General. Thank you for your support and gracious comment at my request for adminship which ended at the overwhelming and flattering result of (160/1/0), and leaves me in a position of having to live up to a high standard of community expectation. You can see me in action and observe what then happened as a result. If you need admin assistance, feel free to ask me. Naturally, if I make any procedural mistakes, feel free to point them out. I look forward to working with you in the future, hopefully as an admin. Enjoy the American summer!Blnguyen | Have your say!!! 03:45, 31 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
