Preity Zinta FA

Hi there. The Preity Zinta article has recently achieved A-class status. Due to the wealth of support I have decided to now nominate for an FA class article which I believe and judging by the comments of others is pretty much up to. In my view it is better than some existing FA actor articles. I would therefore be very grateful if you could give it a final review in your own time and leave your comments and views at Wikipedia:Featured article candidates/Preity Zinta. Thankyou, your comments are always valuable. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Talk"? 10:57, 1 November 2007 (UTC)

Alternative alignments Image

Thanks for educating me on Fair use policy. However, Fair use policy infoboxes (Refer T.R.Baalu image) clearly states it will be a copyright infringement to use it for any other purpose on wikipedia or on other mediums. So if somebody copies it and use it on other purposes commercially it will be a copyright infringement.. So I don't understand what is the problem in using that image under Fair use policy.--Indianstar 09:06, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Templates

Hi Ganesh,

Hope you are well. Is there a way to edit templates? I want to edit the templates {{carnatic}} and {{Indian Music}}. It's a good template, but it could use some editing, and I want to delete some parts and add other bits. If I can't edit this, is there any way you can retrieve the script that was used to make these templates as they are? It would be a great help. Thanks,

Ncmvocalist 07:28, 4 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks Ganesh :) I'd been trying the template format and kept wondering why it didn't work. I think I typed it wrong when trying! Anyway, thanks again :) Ncmvocalist 13:55, 7 November 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I have a question regarding a statement you made here about the Tamil character in our logo. Are you saying that the character is not a valid Tamil character, or rather that it is a correct character but not the starting character of the the Tamil word for "Wikipedia"? Thanks and cheers, AxelBoldt 16:41, 15 November 2007 (UTC)

The character is a valid tamil character (li), but not the starting character of the Tamil word for "Wikipedia"(wi). Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 16:05, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

There have been a series of proposals to initiate a Featured List of the Day on the main page. Numerous proposals have been put forth. After the third one failed, I audited all WP:FL's in order to begin an experiment in my own user space that will hopefully get it going. Today, it commences at WP:LOTD. Afterwards I created my experimental page, a new proposal was set forth to do a featured list that is strikingly similar to my own which is to do a user page experimental featured list, but no format has been confirmed and mechanism set in place. I continue to be willing to do the experiment myself and with this posting it commences. Please submit any list that you would like to have considered for list of the day in the month of January 2008 by the end of this month to WP:LOTD and its subpages. You may submit multiple lists for consideration.--TonyTheTiger (t/c/bio/WP:LOTD) 02:43, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks much for your contribution to the Bir (disambiguation) page! -- Writtenonsand 11:45, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

- And for your stub on Bir, Maharashtra! -- Writtenonsand 11:46, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

-- I've also created another disamb page Bir (India), as we have several stray links to "Bir" in various articles, and people might not know which is the correct one to link to. ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=bir&fulltext=Search ) Thanks again. -- Writtenonsand 12:00, 14 November 2007 (UTC)

User:Mahitgar has redirected Bir, Maharashtra to Beed. This seems okay to me, but I know nothing about the subject. Looks good to you? (Note on my Talk page here.) -- Writtenonsand (talk) 14:26, 17 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Pramod_mahajan_04_24_2006.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Rettetast 20:18, 18 November 2007 (UTC)

New proposal to move Jallianwala Bagh massacre

There is a new proposal to move Jallianwala Bagh massacre back to Amritsar massacre. As you were opposed before I thought I would alert you if you are interested and have any comments. Dabbler (talk) 17:03, 21 November 2007 (UTC)

Hello!

Hello! I need your help, as I see that you objected to the following move.

I noticed that Wikipedia:WikiProject Indian cinema was moved to Wikipedia:WikiProject Films/Indian cinema task force. I just can't understand why. Can't this project be independent and still work as a task force? Another point is, why specifically WP:films? Why not WP:India? My suggestion was to move it and redirect it, and then, it will automatically be a task force and a WikiProject at the same time.

The project is now a sub-page of another project (WP:FILMS, a project Girolamo is a big part of), and it's very sad to see how this project, which I am a part of, has become an insignificant sub-page.

Another reason and what mostly makes me skeptical, is the fact that there was no concensus. You objected to the move, so did I, and so did Bollywood Dreamz - no concensus. And the move was clarified by "concensus". It was not an organized discussion, all the "voting" you see there is actually a collection from Blofeld's talk page. Girolamo collected pieces of text from Blofeld's talk page, and turned it into concensus.

I redirected the page yesterday, and thought that we could have a sub-page of WP:FILMS and a leading WikiProject simultaneously. But my edits were reverted.

Here are our discussions:

I ask for your intervention. This issue upsets me very much. My main question is, will this move help to the progress of our project? Best regards, ShahidTalk2me 11:12, 24 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the reply. That upsets me, particularly because Girolamo didn't get a concensus from the outset. He just moved it (as I said, with a few pieces from Blofeld's talk page). I disagree with these acts. He was the one who must have discussed it properly. If all the projects under WP:INDIA are work groups, so why should this one be an exception? It makes me feel that it's just because some very involved editor from WP:FILMS wants to make it a part of his project automatically. Should I turn to WP:INDIA's members and ask for help? Meanwhile, I asked Girolamo to say if there is some genuine advantage in having it as a sub-page of WP:FILMS. Thanks for the help. So should I turn to WP:INDIA? What do you think? ShahidTalk2me 18:53, 24 November 2007 (UTC)
I took this matter to the Indian noticeboard. All my messages to Girolamo have been ignored. You can participate there. ShahidTalk2me 11:54, 26 November 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for the barnstar!

Thank you so much for the barnstar! It is much appreciated... I guess I'll be wrapping up all the articles before the year is up. :) Btw, you might wanna take a look at this one article which I have no clue about - it appears to be a duplicate article created for the same town. We couldn't do what we have done in merging the articles if your oh-so-wonderful bot hadn't created all this stuff in the first place - so kudos to your bot! aJCfreak yAk 09:38, 3 December 2007 (UTC)
