Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MDMK logo 2006 04 25.PNG
Thank you for uploading Image:MDMK logo 2006 04 25.PNG. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it might be deleted by adminstrator within a few days in accordance with our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 12:57, 8 March 2008 (UTC)

Thanks
Thanks a lot for the barnstar. I appreciate it a lot. Regarding the points you made, I removed the transparency for some of the districts on Image:Rajasthan_locator_map.svg. It should not have been there in the first place. And I felt that borders around the states would add more clarity to the map, which is why I retained most of Planemad's style, but added the borders. What do you think? Should we have a common style for all the state locator maps? Thanks again. Mkeranat (talk) 13:17, 5 March 2008 (UTC)
- Have been (and will be) travelling for a while now. Will upload the map without the state borders when I get back. Mkeranat (talk) 06:14, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
Ganeshbot
Hi Ganesh. Is it possible that you could lend Ganeshbot's Indian town program so that it can be run on Vietnamese wikipedia (once the output sentence framework is in English, which we can change)? The coverage of India on Vietnamese wikipedia is not great. Thanks, Blnguyen (vote in the photo straw poll) 04:04, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- Hi Ganesh. Is it ok if other Vietnamese Wikipedia admins inspect the code? Thanks. Blnguyen (vote in the photo straw poll) 05:32, 10 March 2008 (UTC)
State locator maps you are currently working on.
Hi Ganesh,
Today you left a message on India project talk page that you are working on Maharashtra state locator map. Actually I was trying to build a locator map but unable to determine the co-ordinates of 4 corners of the map. I tried making a map for Tripura too, but failed and so finally made this. If you are working on Maharashtra can you please involve me(if possible) as I am too keen to learn this art. gppande «talk» 12:10, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- We have two resident cartographers, Planemad and Mkeranat creating these locator maps. You can ask them for help with the coordinates. Nichalp can help you out too. Indian maps project has tips, conventions and resources. You will need a software program named, Inkscape for creating the SVG files. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 23:50, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, I will talk to Planemad & Mkeranat for Tripura map. Nichalp seems to be on wikibreak. gppande «talk» 10:24, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

- Other than a few mentions on The Hindu, I cannot find them much on the news media, it will be tough to prove notability. You can still start their article and see how others feel. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 00:39, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

{{WikiProject Hinduism}} modification request
Ganesh, could you modify the Hinduism project templatea, so that inclusion of an article in Saivism/Philosophy/ Mythology/ ... wikiprojects is mentioned within the Hinduism wikiproject banner (resembling the {{WikiProject India}} template), rather than creating a duplicate banner ? Hogenakkal articles
Hi Ganesh,
Was just wondering, can we merge Hogenakkal Crisis into Hogenakkal Integrated Drinking Water Project? You're the primary contributor to both articles. The crisis article may not warrant its own space because it is based on an ongoing news spike about the subject that may fade away in the coming days, and the article text can be easily accomodated in the main article about the project (unless you had plans to significantly expand the crisis article). Regards, Max - You were saying? 15:18, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yes. My intention was to have Hogenakkal Integrated Drinking Water Project focus on the project itself. Hogenakkal Crisis can cover the dispute similar to the Kaveri River Water Dispute article. There is a lot of press-coverage on the dispute and there will be a public interest in learning what the dispute is all about. The article can cover the film star involvement, policitian quotes etc. This information will not be a right fit for the Hogenakkal Integrated Drinking Water Project article. Your thoughts? Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 15:21, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- We will have adhere to a neutral point-of-view and provide both sides of the story. I am sure we will have drive-by editors trying to insert personal views, we will have to remind these people that Wikipedia is not a forum, but a encyclopedia that documents what happened. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 15:25, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yep, that sounds good to me. I will remove the merge template on the crisis article. I know what you mean, there are a couple of drive-by editors (User:Lieskillme (edit | talk | history | links | watch | logs), for example) who're going nuts on those pages right now. Thanks for the clarification! - Max - You were saying? 15:35, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
Re: Hogenekkal town?
Hmm, sorry about that. Result of hasty Googling on my part. Saw the first Google search result for "Hogenakkal town" and it pointed to this. It's a newspaper based out of Chennai, so don't know about the neutrality. Anyway, I've changed the wording based on your feedback. - Max - You were saying? 15:42, 6 April 2008 (UTC)
- Hogenakkal is part of Koothapadi panchayat village within the Pennagaram sub-district of Dharmapuri district in Tamil Nadu, according to the Government of India's census data here (You'll need to scroll down a bit, Koothapadi is number 14 on the list). That should be a sufficiently reliable source, shouldn't it? -- Arvind (talk) 13:17, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, Arvind. Ganesh, I think this source should be good enough. I've added the same info to the article with this source as reference. Please edit my changes if you feel that there are issues. - Max - You were saying? 19:51, 7 April 2008 (UTC)
- Yes, that will work. Thank you. Ganeshk (talk) 02:35, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
KARNATAKA BJP
hi
i just saw your insistence to include the stance of a particular state faction of a national level party (karnataka bjp) in a non neutral manner..I feel KARNATAKA BJP cant represent the wishes of ALL the people of karnataka nor the govt. of karnataka..so it is best to delete that part unless we want to entertain every political party's views !!! further the bjp itself is quarelling over its stance - i mean the tamilnadu bjp rubbishing karnataka bjp's views...
Kinggan (talk) 12:07, 8 April 2008 (UTC)
Comment you left on my talk page
About there being irrelevant material in my posting on the Hogenakkal Falls page, I certainly differ on that. While it is openly accepted (even by some of the wiki folks) that (repeated) mention about Kaveri dispute is acceptable on the Kaveri page, I see that it is but an indication of preferential treatment to this page (from your side) if you say mentioning about Hogenakkal area dispute on this page is irrelevant.
And coming to the point that the points I am mentioning here are not supported by substantial evidences (links), I am sure, if you were indeed standing up for equality in opinion, you would have put in some more efforts to find links for that.
Put in your efforts, and please help make Wiki a better place for credible-information. Dont just go around cutting text off that was contributed by others - who unfortunately for you, may differ with your singular opinion about the matter.

A new user has been indulging in ultra-racist abuses against a particular community which has been reverted. This could be potentially libelious. I request administrators to take action in this matter.

Latitude/longitude from Falling Rain
Hi. I see that Ganeshbot uses latitude/longitude data from the Falling Rain page for a town. But I have noticed a discrepancy between the values and those on Google Maps/Wikimapia. Could you look into this? Examples are Siwan and Kishanganj. Mkeranat (talk) 18:47, 15 April 2008 (UTC)
- the lat/long values don't have to be exact, the locator maps only show the approx. position of the town. if there are two towns with the same name, the bot does get confused and the lat/long values will need to be corrected. Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 00:39, 16 April 2008 (UTC)
- In the case of the towns I mentioned, the coordinates are off by about 1 degree each. Anyway, I think the problem appears to be limited to the Bihar region and would have to be dealt with on an individual basis. Regards, Mkeranat (talk) 14:15, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

Delighted
Hello my dear Ganesh Krishnamurthy jee. I am absolutely delighted to receive this barstar from you :). Once upon a time (!), I had just added requests for photographs to many India-related pages to draw attention and solicit co-operation from other fellow editors, and it appears to have given some results. Thank you. And, I still remember the 25th February, 2006 when we had met at Tidel Park, Chennai during the visit of Jimmy Wales. Best. --Bhadani (talk) 02:06, 20 April 2008 (UTC)

Thank you Ganesh. I am glad to read through the contents and contribute/edit based on requirements. Initially I plan only to edit topics which are directly related to me, like articles about my birthplace, our culture, etc. I will always try to substantiate what I write with reliable evidence/references. Happy to be part of global knowledge creation. Hope to have a nice time over here. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ullascantony (talk • contribs) 10:52, 26 April 2008 (UTC)
Need help for ITN:ISRO PSLV Launch.
I found that you have updated the ISRO page for recent historic 10 satellite launch. I have nominated the news item to WP:ITN/C. But the nomination requires a non-stub article. Just wanted to check with you if it possible to put together a decent article so that nomination can be successful? I did some research but nothing good coming my way. --gppande «talk» 15:25, 29 April 2008 (UTC)
- Were you looking for Polar Satellite Launch Vehicle? Regards, Ganeshk (talk) 00:51, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
- WP:ITN/C requires an article on this specific launch to make it qualify. Since very little information was available the article would have been a stub and so would have failed anyway. So I just checked with you if you had more information on this launch of 10 satellites in one go. Anyways, the news seems to be out of 5 day limit now. --gppande «talk» 08:08, 2 May 2008 (UTC)
