Question from Alban2024 (09:54, 12 June 2024)
HI! How are you doing?
I want to edit this draft since it is in Albanian and can be done in english, can i do it?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Luan_muca --Alban2024 (talk) 09:54, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- Yes, you should feel free to translate it from Albanian to English! This is the English Wikipedia, so all the articles need to be in English before being published. —Ganesha811 (talk) 11:13, 12 June 2024 (UTC)
- It is also in English in another url: Draft:Luan Muça but it is declined
- shall I translate this and re-submit? here is te albanian aprooved version of this subject: https://sq.wikipedia.org/wiki/Luan_Mu%C3%A7a
- thank for help Alban2024 (talk) 13:24, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
- I would take a look at the comments from reviewers on that draft. They have raised serious concerns which need to be addressed. It's possible that Muça simply is not notable enough to have an article on the English Wikipedia. —Ganesha811 (talk) 14:32, 13 June 2024 (UTC)
- In fact, it is notable to have an article on English Wikipedia. There are a lot of articles in public domain talking about it.
- You can have a look on google about it, if you find time
- thanks Alban2024 (talk) 07:03, 14 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from Arifsadi285 on User:Arifsadi285 (16:57, 21 June 2024)
Hello how can i creat an article please guide me. --Arifsadi285 (talk) 16:57, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hello! Any Wikipedian in good standing with a little experience can publish articles, but it is difficult to do so! I recommend starting out by making fixes to pages which already exist. What topics are you interested in editing about? —Ganesha811 (talk) 18:38, 21 June 2024 (UTC)
That was premature. You closed this while I'm adding WP:RS to the article. Please reopen it. If that's not possible, I'd like to appeal the decision. Yappy2bhere (talk) 19:49, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! I'm not willing to re-open the discussion, as consensus was clear. It had been open for weeks, including a full week after the last re-listing, so it was not premature. However, you are definitely welcome to improve the article and resubmit it, if you are confident you can find/add reliable, independent sources demonstrating notability. I've put the material from the article here so you can access it: User:Ganesha811/AdaControl - you could move it into your own namespace to work on the draft. If that isn't satisfactory, WP:DRV is always an option as well. Happy editing! —Ganesha811 (talk) 19:55, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- OK. Do I move it by renaming it (like moving an article), or is it more complicated than that because it's in user space? And yeah, relist then relist, but I didn't arrive to start adding support until well into the second relist. The current six cites from journals and conference proceedings should have been snowball, but I don't know who if anyone read them. Yappy2bhere (talk) 20:17, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- You can just copy the material and paste it into your own user space, and I'll then delete my version. —Ganesha811 (talk) 21:43, 23 June 2024 (UTC)
- OK, done. When I've done what I can, does it follow the same path into main space as any other page developed in user space, or is there a different vetting process because it was once deleted and now needs its history restored? Yappy2bhere (talk) 04:46, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
- It can follow the same path as any other page, but bear in mind it should be substantially different (i.e. improved) from the prior version which was deleted, or else it would be eligible for speedy deletion under WP:G4. And of course, someone may choose to nominate it for deletion again, and if a pattern of deletion and recreation emerges, it could eventually be salted. Good luck! —Ganesha811 (talk) 04:58, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
How does it work here?
Hi! I'm sorry for bothering you, but I still don't really get it. What type of questions am I supposed to ask here? Does it have to specifically be about editing? If you could give me a better explanation, I'd be fine.
Thank you for understanding. GeoTwode (talk) 01:58, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
- Hi and welcome to Wikipedia! You can ask me any questions you have about how to edit or how Wikipedia works. If you're unsure of whether to ask something, just go for it. —Ganesha811 (talk) 02:17, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
Question from 3nhanc3dDimensions (12:14, 24 June 2024)
Hi - Okay so I'm trying to comply with the rules about being affiliated with an organisation who produce 3d film. I've not created a user page so am I right to assume I put this in user page? "Andrew Murchie 3D filmmaker user page.
This user, in accordance with the Wikimedia Foundation's Terms of Use, discloses that they have been paid by EYEPOP-3D for their contributions to Wikipedia. |
."
Technically I am just a filmmaker so not employed, nor is the organisation my client so I'm a bit confused as to putting info in here - especially as it's not really accurate. But without adding this I cannot add the 3D films to the 3D film list in wikipedia.
Our films are listed elsewhere e.g. https://www.blu-ray.com/movies/The-Last-Man-on-Earth-3D-Blu-ray/354540/ - really I'm just trying to make the list accurate as my fellow 3d film enthusiasts are always asking about where to find this info.
Sorry if this seems rambling but I'm finding this quite confusing simply trying to provide accurate information. --3nhanc3dDimensions (talk) 12:14, 24 June 2024 (UTC)
- No worries, thanks for asking! If you don't mind, what is the nature of your affiliation with EYEPOP-3D? If you are not an employee nor are you being asked/paid to make edits on their behalf, but you do have a connection, the thing to do might be to add the Template:User COI to your page instead. That will let folks know that you have a Conflict of Interest, but are not a paid editor. If you want to edit about a subject that you have a COI with, I recommend using the article talk page to suggest changes and letting other editors implement them - you can use the Wikipedia:Edit Request Wizard to make suggestions! —Ganesha811 (talk) 13:34, 24 June 2024 (UTC)

you around?
Hi. Need a quick admin action, are you online for a few more minutes? Kindly ping me. —usernamekiran (talk) 17:44, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

- thanks for the prompt response. Would you kindly restore this version of the page, and then admin protect it for a week? Otherwise, my bot would "vandalise" it again. I also recommend not taking a look at previous version per Wikipedia:Edit filter noticeboard/Archive 12#bot triggering filters. - @GiantSnowman: lol, you protected the wrong version. https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Wikipedia:In_the_news/Posted/November_2004&oldid=1193531746 should be restored, and protected. —usernamekiran (talk) 18:00, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- Done (take 2). If your bot is malfunctioning, it should not be running. GiantSnowman 18:03, 27 June 2024 (UTC)
- @GiantSnowman: thanks, all the profanity is gone now. In short, the bot is creating archives of ITN template, it is also archiving the vandalism along. I updated some of the code, but covering a lot of words would have lead to false positives, and ITN template is protected for the majority of the time, so working on cleaning up the archive pages seemed better than working on program which wouldn't be used much. Thanks again. —usernamekiran (talk) 18:09, 27 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from MightiestRaccoon (10:27, 29 June 2024)
Hey! I am new to the Wikipedia, hope you can give me some directions. I want to upload the data from this template to Wikidata: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Template_talk:Mycomorphbox I know it has been done before and I know Wikidata contains those parameters for a lot of older articles. But it seems it has not been done in a while. Apparently this tool was used to do it, but I did not manage to make it work: https://pltools.toolforge.org/harvesttemplates/
Do you happen to know who can help me with that? --MightiestRaccoon (talk) 10:27, 29 June 2024 (UTC)
- I've never really done any editing on Wikidata, nor have I used that tool, so I'm afraid I'm not much help! I'd recommend asking at Wikidata's internal forum, Wikidata:Project chat. Good luck! —Ganesha811 (talk) 14:14, 29 June 2024 (UTC)

Question from Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (12:31, 9 July 2024)
Hello Ganesha811,
I hope you're doing well. I am Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar, a content writer particularly focused on geopolitics connected to history. I have a question about adding some information to a Wikipedia article. I've written a line about the revenue generated from cocoa sales within Ivory Coast in 2024. Here is the text I want to add to the "Chocolate production" section of the Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cocoa_bean
"In 2024, the revenue generated from cocoa sales within Ivory Coast, like in supermarkets and convenience stores, is about US$ 9.7 million. The revenue generated domestically is projected to increase annually by 2.64% (CAGR 2024-2029)."
This information is from "Cocoa - Ivory Coast" from: [Statista](https://www.statista.com/outlook/cmo/hot-drinks/cocoa/ivory-coast#:~:text=Revenue%2C%20at%20home%20(e.g.%2C,(CAGR%202024%2D2028)).
Could you please confirm me that can I add this lines as citation, ensuring it meets Wikipedia's guidelines for reliable sources and verifiability?
Thank you for your help!
Best regards, Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar --Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (talk) 12:31, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
- If (as your modification suggests) you are no longer planning on linking your blog, that's definitely better, but regrettably per WP:STATISTA, Statista is not necessarily reliable and should not be used directly as a source. I would look for the statistics elsewhere - perhaps try the FAO, which is a UN branch which deals with statistics like this. —Ganesha811 (talk) 13:38, 13 July 2024 (UTC)

Question from Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (15:05, 14 July 2024)
Hello Ganesha811,
I hope you're doing well. I have a question about adding some information to a Wikipedia article. I've written a few lines about the recent developments in the Middle Corridor. Here is the text I want to add to the "Trans-Caspian International Transport Route" article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Trans-Caspian_International_Transport_Route
"Since the Russia-Ukraine conflict, cargo traffic in the Middle Corridor has grown to nearly 3.2 million tons in 2022, as goods shifted from the Northern Corridor. Turkey positions itself as a key player between China and Europe through the Organization of Turkic States for the Middle Corridor. The Middle Corridor is the shortest route from China to Europe, with cargo transportation increasing six-fold in the last decade."
This information is from "The rise of the Middle Corridor: What is India's response?" from: Observer Research Foundation: https://www.orfonline.org/expert-speak/the-rise-of-the-middle-corridor
Could you please confirm that I can add these lines with the citation, ensuring it meets Wikipedia's guidelines for reliable sources and verifiability?
Thank you for your help!

I was about to add a redirect vote right as you SNOW closed an AFD that was open for 5 hours, meaning people in certain time zones in the United States would be unable to respond due to sleeping. Could the AFD be re-opened? Downerr2937 (talk) 16:45, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Given the overwhelming consensus, I stand by the speedy close and would not be willing to re-open the discussion myself. —Ganesha811 (talk) 16:46, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- So, we're having a discussion on my talk page about SNOW close vs. Speedy close. Would you consider amending your close of the original AfD to state that it was a SNOW close and eliminate the word speedy? Feel free to join the discussion at my talk page. Jclemens (talk) 19:35, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks for bringing that to my attention - I've left a comment there and modified my close. —Ganesha811 (talk) 21:05, 15 July 2024 (UTC)

Question from Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (10:14, 16 July 2024)
Hello Ganesha811,
I hope you're doing well. I have a question about adding some information to a Wikipedia article. I've written a few lines about the historical & geopolitical events on Soviet occupation of Manchuria taking reference from "The Washington Post", reference link:https://www.washingtonpost.com/history/2020/08/14/vj-day-japan-surrenders-hirohito-ends-wwii/
Here is the text I want to add to the "Soviet occupation of Manchuria" section of the Wikipedia article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soviet_occupation_of_Manchuria
"The combined impact of the Soviet invasion and the atomic bombings left Japan little room for maneuver. On August 15, 1945, Emperor Hirohito announced Japan's unconditional surrender to his people in a scratchy radio recording, marking the end of World War II."
Notably, I have no involvement with the creation of the report and no affiliation with The Washington Post, basically I am a content writer related to the geopolitical evets connected to history.
Could you please confirm that I can add these lines with the citation, ensuring it meets Wikipedia's guidelines for reliable sources and verifiability?
Thank you for your help!
Best regards, Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar --Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (talk) 10:14, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
- You can, I would say. Just make sure it isn't redundant of any content already in the article. Please note that you don't have to ask me for permission to edit - the more important thing is that what you do on Wikipedia follows our policies and guidelines, the most important of which are summarized in the Five Pillars. Read that, follow the links to get more detail on any bit you don't understand, and you'll do fine! —Ganesha811 (talk) 13:12, 16 July 2024 (UTC)

Pictured on the Main page: Brian's Mozart family grand tour, my story today, and Mozart related to all three items of music on my talk: our 2023 concert, an opera in a theatre where a Mozart premiere took place, and those remembered, Martti Wallén, a bass, and Liana Isakadze, a violinist from Georgia, (whose article would be better with more details about her music-making). --Gerda Arendt (talk) 10:17, 9 July 2024 (UTC)
My story today is - because of the anniversary of the premiere OTD in 1782 - about Die Entführung aus dem Serail, opera by Mozart, while yesterday's was - because of the TFA - about Les contes d'Hoffmann, opera by Offenbach, - so 3 times Mozart again if you click on "music" ;) --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:55, 16 July 2024 (UTC)
Today's story is about a photographer who took iconic pictures, especially View from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, on Manhattan, 9/11, yesterday's was a great mezzo, and on Thursday we watched a sublime ballerina. If that's not enough my talk offers the chamber music from two amazing concerts. --Gerda Arendt (talk) 11:10, 20 July 2024 (UTC)

Question from Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (15:51, 31 July 2024)
I am writing to seek your guidance regarding my article, "2024 July Massacare in Bangladesh". Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2024_July_Massacare_in_Bangladesh, Despite multiple edits and attempts to improve the article based on feedback, it continues to be flagged as an orphan article.
I would be grateful for your expertise in identifying potential linking opportunities or suggesting ways to integrate the article more effectively into the Wikipedia network.
Thank you for your time and assistance. --Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (talk) 15:51, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- An "orphan" article is one that has no other articles linking in to it. If you want to de-orphan it, find other articles which are relevant and add links to that one! Then the tag can be removed. —Ganesha811 (talk) 15:53, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- As you instructed, I have added the relevant links. Could you please take care of that? Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (talk) 18:37, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- "Orphan" is about adding links to *other* pages which link to the page you're working on. It means that there aren't any other Wikipedia articles which link to it. —Ganesha811 (talk) 19:17, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- Sir, there are at least two articles in Wikipedia well connected to this ongoing event and as per your instruction, I added the links. You are kindly requested to give importance on it. Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (talk) 19:37, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

If you don't mind, I'll fix the title and create a redirect to the 2024 Bangladesh quota reform movement article. —Ganesha811 (talk) 19:46, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- Sir, there are at least two articles in Wikipedia well connected to this ongoing event and as per your instruction, I added the links. You are kindly requested to give importance on it. Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (talk) 19:37, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- "Orphan" is about adding links to *other* pages which link to the page you're working on. It means that there aren't any other Wikipedia articles which link to it. —Ganesha811 (talk) 19:17, 31 July 2024 (UTC)
- As you instructed, I have added the relevant links. Could you please take care of that? Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (talk) 18:37, 31 July 2024 (UTC)

Question from Editablemartian (17:44, 13 August 2024)
How do you create citations in an article? --Editablemartian (talk) 17:44, 13 August 2024 (UTC)

Question from Michael Varial (02:41, 17 August 2024)
Hi Ganesha, I began an article a few months ago in a planned series about climate change adaptation practitioners. I can't find that draft, and was wondering if there is a way to retrieve it somehow? It looks like there is a time period after which drafts may be deleted? --Michael Varial (talk) 02:41, 17 August 2024 (UTC)
- Do you remember the name of the draft article you were working on? If it has been deleted I may be able to retrieve it for you. —Ganesha811 (talk) 14:32, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
Question from Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (15:23, 19 August 2024)
I hope this message finds you well. I am reaching out to request your assistance in adding a few lines to the "Second Balkan War" article on Wikipedia. Since the page is semi-protected, I am unable to make the edits myself.
The sentences I would like to add are:
"The political upheavals and territorial shifts resulting from the Second Balkan War also resonated beyond Europe. The Indian Muslim community, with its strong pan-Islamic sentiment towards the Ottoman Empire, was significantly impacted. The Indian Red Crescent Mission's involvement with the Ottoman lands during the Balkan Wars fostered a deeper connection between Indian Muslims and the Ottoman cause, influencing political movements in India, including the Khilafat Movement and the eventual founding of the Muslim League."
I would appreciate it if you could place these lines in the "Aftermath" section of the article, just before the following lines:
"To this end, it participated in the First World War on the side of the Central Powers since its Balkan enemies (Serbia, Montenegro, Greece, and Romania) were pro-Entente (see articles on the Serbian Campaign and the Macedonian front of World War I). The resulting enormous sacrifices during World War I and renewed defeat caused Bulgaria a national trauma and new territorial losses."

Thank you for your assistance. --Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (talk) 15:23, 19 August 2024 (UTC)
- Hi! You should be able to make the edit yourself; semi-protection locks articles for those whose accounts have fewer than 10 edits and/or are less than 4 days old. There should be no barrier for you to edit Second Balkan War yourself - have at it! —Ganesha811 (talk) 15:31, 19 August 2024 (UTC)

Question from FredArtson (12:52, 25 August 2024)
Hi Ganesha! I was wondering, if someone makes a big change in a wikipedia page, suppose, he clears all the main things in the page, or he removed the punctuation on the pages, then how do we deal with those changes? --FredArtson (talk) 12:52, 25 August 2024 (UTC)
- Essentially any edit can be reverted, and any page changed back to what it was, by other editors. No special permission is needed to fix things. Wikipedia works because properly breaking things is generally hard and slow, while fixing things is easy and fast. 17:35, 25 August 2024 (UTC) —Ganesha811 (talk) 17:35, 25 August 2024 (UTC)

Thank you today for Nadezhda Stasova, about "an early Russian feminist and activist. She was part of a group of three friends and allies known as the "triumvirate", alongside Maria Trubnikova and Anna Filosofova. Stasova pushed hard for women's education and was instrumental in creating university-standard courses open to women in the Russian Empire."! My story today is also about a woman, nominated for RD but needing support as I write this. A composer died whose article is long and mostly unreferenced. Any help welcome. Question from EmmaChiaJenXi (01:24, 28 August 2024)
Hello, how do I know if an article is not a stub anymore? Does it need to have at least 10 references to be considered not a stub? --EmmaChiaJenXi (talk) 01:24, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- There's no specific definition. You can read over this section to get a sense of when it's appropriate to remove a stub tag. In general, I'd say to be WP:BOLD - generally don't hesitate to make changes if you think they're right! —Ganesha811 (talk) 01:34, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- Thanks! However, I added citation but couldn’t use automatic so I had to use manual and I think I messed it up. I actually didn’t understand even though I saw the tutorial, because it didn’t actually explain everything in it. It said just try to fill in as much info as possible.
- I hope you can help with this, because I probably need an explanation about the things in there. There was some words in capital letters and I don’t understand.
- By the way thank you for always answering my questions :) EmmaChiaJenXi (talk) 01:57, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- You did fine! I've modified the citation you added to make some improvements. Feel free to keep asking questions. - Do you know which page I’m talking about? It’s another one, not Alocasia portei. Or maybe you could just help me check all the pages I’ve edited so far, but I don’t know wether you can view them. EmmaChiaJenXi (talk) 04:37, 28 August 2024 (UTC)

Question from Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (17:15, 28 August 2024)
Today, I created an article on Wikipedia titled 'Soft Power of India in Africa'—link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soft_power_of_India_in_Africa.
I have made some improvements, and I would appreciate your feedback. Do you think any further modifications are needed? If so, please let me know your suggestions. --Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (talk) 17:15, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
- I think it makes more sense as a subsection of Africa–India relations, which already exists. I suggest merging some content over to the pre-existing page and converting yours into a redirect. —Ganesha811 (talk) 18:22, 28 August 2024 (UTC)
Question from Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (09:49, 30 August 2024)
I have finally managed to eliminate the orphan article status with the indirect guidance from your message. But the article still carries the following notice:
"This article contains text that is written in a promotional tone. Please help improve it by removing promotional language and inappropriate external links, and by adding encyclopedic text written from a neutral point of view."
Link: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Soft_power_of_India_in_Africa
Notably, in response to this issue, I have already made every effort to remove the promotional tone from the article, but failed. So, finally I'm seeking advice on how to address the feedback that my article contains promotional language. Could you suggest specific strategies to revise the text for neutrality and improve its overall quality? --Mohammed Shahidullah-Bin-Anwar (talk) 09:49, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
- As I mentioned above, I would recommend merging this content into Africa-India relations, which already exists. This new article seems duplicative of some of the content in that one. —Ganesha811 (talk) 14:10, 30 August 2024 (UTC)
