Women in Green's October 2024 edit-a-thon
Hello Ganesha811:
WikiProject Women in Green is holding a month-long Good Article Edit-a-thon event in October 2024!
Running from October 1 to 31, 2024, WikiProject Women in Green (WiG) is hosting a Good Article (GA) edit-a-thon event with the theme Around the World in 31 Days! All experience levels welcome. Never worked on a GA project before? We'll teach you how to get started. Or maybe you're an old hand at GAs – we'd love to have you involved! Participants are invited to work on nominating and/or reviewing GA submissions related to women and women's works (e.g., books, films) during the event period. We hope to collectively cover article subjects from at least 31 countries (or broader international articles) by month's end. GA resources and one-on-one support will be provided by experienced GA editors, and participants will have the opportunity to earn a special WiG barnstar for their efforts.
We hope to see you there!

Question from Shafaq Farooqi (14:03, 26 September 2024)
Hi, I have properly added all sources. What else can I do to get my Wikipedia profile approved? --Shafaq Farooqi (talk) 14:03, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
- Hello! I presume you're referring to the draft article you started? I should caution you that writing an article about yourself is strongly discouraged by Wikipedia's rules. If you have any connection with Fasih Ur Rehman, you need to disclose that. —Ganesha811 (talk) 15:11, 26 September 2024 (UTC)
- I don't have any connection with Fasih Ur Rehman. I'm a professional content writer that's why just giving my services. Please let me know how can I get this article approved. Shafaq Farooqi (talk) 14:09, 30 September 2024 (UTC)
- If you are being WP:PAID for your editing, that is permitted, but you must disclose that on your talk page and follow the guidelines. Please let me know if you have any questions about how the process works. —Ganesha811 (talk) 16:36, 30 September 2024 (UTC)

Administrators' newsletter – October 2024
News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2024).

The first trial election will take place in October 2024, with candidate sign-up from October 8 to 14, a discussion phase from October 22 to 24, and SecurePoll voting from October 25 to 31. For questions or to help out, please visit the talk page at Wikipedia talk:Administrator elections.
- Following a discussion, the speedy deletion reason "File pages without a corresponding file" has been moved from criterion G8 to F2. This does not change what can be speedily deleted.

SOU 610 photo
The reason why I deleted our conversation about that No. 610 postcard photo was because I assumed we would simply delete our comments immediately after making them, and then we would view them via history.
But I could not find any copyright claims about this photo anywhere. All I did was purchase a copy of that postcard on eBay and scanned both sides of it to upload it here. This back is all the info I could find about this photo at all. Someone who likes train writing (talk) 05:00, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Generally it's best to leave comments in place - that way the history is more easily visible to anyone who comes across the discussion / talk page later. Could you restore them on the GA page? Thanks. Based on what you said and my own digging I think you are correct that it was published without copyright notice and is thus fine. —Ganesha811 (talk) 05:04, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- Very well. I’ll take your word for it. Also, I noticed you made multiple minor tweaks to the page. I don’t mind any of those at all, but since you split some of the sentences, let me ask this; aren’t Wikipedia pages encouraged to have all of their sentences (except for those at the short description at the top) to end with a citation, or do you think that’s unnecessary? Someone who likes train writing (talk) 05:17, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- No, it's not required. A citation might follow a single sentence, or it might follow a short run of sentences or come at the end of a paragraph (see WP:CITEFOOT. There's no strict standard as long as all the information is verifiable and it's clear which sources are associated with which parts of the text. —Ganesha811 (talk) 11:26, 7 October 2024 (UTC)

- Thank you so much for approving the page for a GA grade! This is a very historically-relevant locomotive that I realized deserved a page with an explanation more detailed than what it previously had. Someone who likes train writing (talk) 20:18, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
- No problem! —Ganesha811 (talk) 20:33, 7 October 2024 (UTC)
