Ways to improve 2018 League of Ireland Cup

[edit]

Hi, I'm Boleyn. Fwaig, thanks for creating 2018 League of Ireland Cup!

I've just tagged the page, using our page curation tools, as having some issues to fix. This has been tagged as lacking clear sources.

The tags can be removed by you or another editor once the issues they mention are addressed. If you have questions, you can leave a comment on my talk page. Or, for more editing help, talk to the volunteers at the Teahouse.

Boleyn (talk) 14:52, 13 March 2018 (UTC)[reply]

The article Street Profits has been proposed for deletion. The proposed deletion notice added to the article should explain why.

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the page to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited 2018 FAI Cup, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Home Farm (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 09:05, 5 July 2018 (UTC)[reply]

If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Montez Ford (wrestler), requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion discussion, such as at Articles for deletion. When a page has substantially identical content to that of a page deleted after a discussion, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you can place a request here. 2016–17 Leinster Senior Cup moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, 2016–17 Leinster Senior Cup, does not have enough sources and citations as written to remain published. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Hello, Fwaig. It has been over six months since you last edited the Articles for Creation submission or Draft page you started, "2016–17 Leinster Senior Cup".

In accordance with our policy that Wikipedia is not for the indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace, the draft has been nominated for deletion. If you plan on working on it further, or editing it to address the issues raised if it was declined, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}}, {{db-draft}}, or {{db-g13}} code.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you wish to retrieve it, you can request its undeletion by following the instructions at this link. An administrator will, in most cases, restore the submission so you can continue to work on it.

Bohemian v Bohemians

[edit]

We should not refer to Bohemian F.C. as 'Bohemians' for the same reason we don't refer to clubs as Wolves/Hearts/Man Utd etc. GiantSnowman 13:32, 29 November 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I am a member of the club. We are never referred to as simply 'Bohemian'. If you insist on calling them Bohemian, then FC must follow it in any and all instances. They are called Bohemian FC, Bohemians (check any national publication for proof of this) or Bohs. Never simply Bohemian and and never Bohemians FC.

You need to raise this at WT:FOOTBALL and seek wider input/consensus. GiantSnowman 15:00, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

It's easily visible via any article that mentions the club. I'm simply informing you of the common and official nomenclature the club has used throughout our history since 1890 across a plethora of mediums. If you want a more accurate encyclopedia, which I'm sure you do as an admin, you should use the proper name. A simple google search or visit to the website will show you. I'm not here not cause trouble or to be pedantic. Bohemians is the term used all the time, by press, fans and the club itself. Bohemian FC is the full title. Bohs is admittedly a diminutive nickname. Bohemian on its own is simply never ever used. It's up to you if you want your article to reflect that. Cheers. FwaigFwaig 16:20, 3 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

WP:OTHERSTUFFEXISTS. If you disagree then please seek consensus at WT:FOOTBALL. If it's decided to display it as 'Bohemians' then fair enough. GiantSnowman 15:36, 4 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Look, I'm just letting you know that you're incorrect on this one. It's literally just adding one letter. Nothing a quick check of any Bohs related stuff online won't show. The club is around since 1890. Not once since then have they been known as simply Bohemian. If you're happy to have that inaccuracy on your watch then that's fine. I've said my piece to you as a member of said club and all it takes is a cursory glance on Google.FwaigUser talk:Fwaig 08:10, 6 December 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Nomination of Daniel Grant (footballer) for deletion

[edit]

A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Daniel Grant (footballer) is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.

The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Daniel Grant (footballer) until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.

Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article. Usedtobecool ☎️ 10:49, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

The page has been created as Grant is an underage international player and has received plaudits for his performances from peers at the top level of the domestic game i.e. newly named League of Ireland Player of the Month for August. All of his stats are up to date and refernced. The main season page of Bohemian FC (see here) is curated by myself and fellow member NCRGDRRON and has been for around 4 years now.

Hello Fwaig! I reviewed the article as a WP:NPP action. I try to be as objective as I can when performing actions in that role, and I concluded it my duty to put this article through a deletion discussion as my objective assessment did not allow for a clear pass to release it for indexing by search engines. Please make your case for retention of the article at the linked deletion discussion page. The discussion is a discussion and not a vote, and if you make good arguments and present good evidence, one person can easily steer the course and outcome of the discussion even if you start out as a lone voice. Hi! Your userpage says you are a member of Bohemian FC. I am not sure what kind of relationship that is, exactly. But, I would request that you review Wikipedia's conflict of interest guidelines at WP:COI and make necessary disclosures, if any. If you have a close relationship with the club, you should not be creating articles about its player/s directly in the mainspace; instead you should use the draftspace to create a draft and submit it to WP:AFC. Best, Usedtobecool ☎️ 10:56, 12 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Good evening sir/madam. I have completed some more work on this article, namely finding more reputable and safe sources as well as adding all relevant dates past and future to fixtures. This page links back to the previous instalment of the competition which link back for many years.

I will also add a category pages to the end of the article in the mean time.

Thank you

Jersey

[edit]

Apologies, real life got in the way and I didn't get a chance to do that shirt. Do you still need it? Sexitoni (talk) 09:20, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Jesus mate don't be worrying! I just copied the Bournemouth AFC one and it looks grand :) I also threw the 2022-23 Leinster Senior Cup rticle together and linked it to the Dundalk season page, hope that's cool. Fwaig (talk) 11:41, 3 February 2023 (UTC)[reply]

2023 FAI Cup moved to draftspace

[edit]

An article you recently created, 2023 FAI Cup, is not suitable as written to remain published. It needs more in-depth coverage about the subject itself, with citations from reliable, independent sources in order to show it meets WP:GNG. It should have at least three, to be safe. And please remember that interviews, as primary sources, do not count towards GNG.(?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page.Onel5969 TT me 11:29, 29 March 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Perfect. The cup has yet to kick off so it should have more references in the coming days.

It's been removed and archived in the page history for now, but if you'd like to include a citation and re-add it, please do so. You can have a look at referencing for beginners. If you think I made a mistake, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. Doc Strange MailboxLogbook 01:49, 25 June 2023 (UTC)[reply]
