Check an image for me?

Hi there, I've been playing with a program called SVG factory and wondered it what it was producing was of acceptable quality. I can't see any difference from Image:Etc4.svg to Image:Etc4.png but the file size is a bit smaller. Is this a real SVG image? Thanks Tim Vickers 23:10, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

I thought it wouldn't be that easy! Tim Vickers 23:18, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

Hold off a bit, this is for oxidative phosphorylation, the next FAC candidate. However, I'll wait until it is a bit further along the line before I bother you about final versions of the figures! Tim Vickers 23:24, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

I might also have a fiddle with Inkscape, always nice to learn something new! All the best Tim Vickers 23:30, 21 July 2007 (UTC)

MOSNUM overhaul

Thanks for your comment, Fv. That's an excellent point, and an issue that I'd stored away but failed to retrieve during the drafting; shall include. I haven't dared to look at the feedback yet! Tony 04:20, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Your suggestion implemented thus. Thanks. Tony 07:04, 23 July 2007 (UTC)

Quick spelling note

Hello! In your post at [1], you have "coult" when I think you mean "could". I thought of correcting it myself while replying to Durova, but I thought I might hold off as I am not sure if we are allowed to change other's posts even if it is for an obvious spelling correction. Anyway, if that's okay to do, please just reply here so I know in the future and have a wonderful night! --Le Grand Roi des CitrouillesTally-ho! 03:53, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Semi-protection

Hello Fvasconcellos.

I don't think that's correct: You've unprotected the page but added the semi protection template. Greetings, —DerHexer (Talk) 15:40, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Unless you've seen it already, please see my response there. Acalamari 21:47, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Well, if my decision was a good idea, I'll put this to rest. I reviewed the contributions of the IPs before blocking, so it's not like I made any trigger-happy decisions there. Thanks. Acalamari 21:51, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Thanks

Thanks for the note. I'm probably going to start working there if I see a backlog, I don't have the technical ability to protect, however, I don't need it to decline. So until I pass RFA, I'll just help where I can. Navou banter 22:38, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

Impersonators... how I hate them :(

Sweetie, apparently, your "fan" has decided to be funny outside the boundaries of our project here, and impersonated you, and vandalized at Simple English Wiki - see here. He actually did the same with my username a few months ago; I suggest you drop by that Wiki and talk to Archer7, one of the Simple Wiki bureaucrats, and ask him to rename the vandal account so you can register your name there. I'll explain him the situation in the meantime, k, hun? Hope you're having a pleasant Winter in your beautiful country! Com amor, Phaedriel - 21:31, 26 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I've now renamed the account if you'd like to register over there. Thanks, Archer7 23:08, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Thank you both so much—I will register. Fvasconcellos (t·c) 23:21, 26 July 2007 (UTC)
Please, don't mention it - we all must watch each other backs out there ;) This particular guy did the same with my own username at several sister projects; but I guess I should thank him, because thanks to being forced to register my usernames there, I got involved at some of them! :) I hope you have a beautiful weekend, my friend... and I sincerely envy the pleasant weather you're enjoying right now ;) Love, Phaedriel - 08:30, 28 July 2007 (UTC)

Obrigado! :)

Thank you for your beautiful words and warm wishes on my birthday, dear friend! I took a well-deserved one-day wikibreak and spent it with my family and my friends... and actually had a beer after months of forced abstinence! :) Of course, there's no way I'd forget about you, so I saved a great, tasty piece of chocolate cake just for you - but sorry, no beer left! Again, thank you so much for taking the time to wish me well, and have a wonderful day, dear F! Love, Phaedriel - 06:17, 30 July 2007 (UTC)

  • WP:MOSBOLD, get all the misc bolding out of the text and into the first para.
  • I don't speak this language. Kills the cells of the bacteria? Is lyses a verb? The rationale for this approach is a presumed synergy between the bactericidal antibiotic, which lyses the bacteria, and clindamycin, which inhibits toxin synthesis.
  • Citation for all the indication info?
  • ... found in ≥1% of patients ... I prefer to spell out (more than, greater than, whatever) ...
  • ... production of a toxin that causes a range of adverse effects ranging from ... range, ranging. Delete the first "a range of"?
  • Cite on the first para of Pharmacokinetics
  • Clindamycin has been recently used successfully ... avoid the word "recently", say when.
  • ... but can do so with very young or immunocompromised kittens and cats. But can do so "in" ... ?

A minor problem in the article Opioid.

Hi there. There is a (factualy not so serious) conflict about the article Opioid, involving me and user Thegoodson; he continues to list heroin to opiates (native, naturally occurring opium alkaloids), and is refractory to any discussion about this nonsense (heroin/diamorphine is a semi-synthetic opioid, for obvious reasons: it is a functional chemical derivative of morphine, made from the native alkaloid by chemical processing (acetylation), hence, it is per definitionem a semisynthetic opioid). I repeatedly asked him (editing unlogged, IPs: User:84.163.119.98, User:84.163.115.138, User:84.163.91.47) to discuss the subject on the discussion page of the article, what he never did. I don't really want to escalate this pityful little conflict into an edit-war, but as a chemist, I can't ignorate such a misinformation; maybe someone competent in the field of biochemistry/organic chemistry (well, actually, I feel competent myself, but I'm sort of personally involved in the problem) could "peer review" this..? Thanks in advance for any help.--Spiperon 18:31, 4 August 2007 (UTC)

Drugbox-combo

Hi, eased myself back into work, and a RfA nom, so back to template business :-) OK, I took a deep breath and tried to merge drugbox with drugbox-combo proposals (brave or just reckless ?). Bizzarly seems to work. The aim of course is to keep just a single template, and keep just a single set of coding to be maintained (else one would forever be having to implement changes to commonly shared parameters, eg licensing details, on multiple templates). See Template talk:Drugbox#Single solution for consideration. What do you think, vs a separate (and therefore easier to understand the template markup) Drugbox-combo proposal ? WP:PHARM Assessments

Thanks! That's quite a neat little image! ;-) I've been meaning to get to these assessments for awhile, and finally am getting there. Though I can't say I'm finished, yet! So far, it looks like the vast majority of these articles are quite undeveloped,... except for the drugs that people like to abuse, like LSD or Marijuana -- hmm, wonder why? Actually, I'd kind of like to get a little away from that and more scientific -- maybe with the new wikiproject for psychedelics, all those editors will have their own little playground now, though,... ;-)

Overall, I think most of the articles, for the most part, have infoboxes and chemical structures added, which is good. They're just lacking in some of the main sections and actual content, so that's the biggest thing we need here. I do like the Bupropion article, though I'm not sure it's quite ready for FA yet, but close (definitely GA). A few months ago I got Doxorubicin up to GA status. It may be close to FA by now, so it might be worth a shot.

I'll put some more details on my assessment criteria for articles over at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Pharmacology, so I don't have to post there and post the same thing here. I've been kind of inventing my own importance criteria (I haven't been able to find any real info on this in the wikiproject). Cheers! Dr. Cash 01:53, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

quick thanks

Hi there, thanks for welcoming me back! You're right, I'm still busy, which is why I asked Acalamari to sprotect my page header. Thanks for watching over my page too! --Kyoko 12:45, 16 August 2007 (UTC)

Re: Doxorubicin

Hmm. Good idea. I knew that another editor added it in, and thought it was kind of long. But still wasn't sure about whether it needed another article. But anyway, I just went ahead and separated it. I think it looks better now. Dr. Cash 02:43, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

I don't think I'm completely stupid (on a good day), and I've read my share of drug literature with no problem, but I have no idea what that article is trying to say. It needs to be rewritten for real people. Don't know what to do about WP:MOSBOLD; the other names that are bolded should be worked into the lead. And it's massively undercited. SandyGeorgia (Talk) 07:06, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Good to see you too, my friend. Wish I had more time for wiki. Take care -- Samir 23:30, 17 August 2007 (UTC)

Reference formatting, nbsps, endashes

I noticed that you correct the journal names and endashes in my references. I use diberry 's tool to format the references wikipedia style, and I would love to use something which would leave less clean-up work for you to do. Any suggestions?

Plus, is there wikipedia editors friendly to endashes and nbsps?

inaccuracies

What inaccuracies he introduced?

>200 mg of bupropion for sexual dysfunction "may be necessary", but not "necessary", since the 150 mg and 300 mg doses were never tested side-by-side.

Users reported the urge to smoke to be a problem, which is more serious than simply reporting the urge to smoke. I bet all 100% had the urge to smoke.

I also find outrigg's "so"'s, "roughly" instead of "approximately" and the correction of "a MAOI" to "an MAOI" extremely annoying. God save us from such helpers.Paul gene 20:52, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

You say:I'd personally write "an MAOI" but I guess that's a difference of opinion. The English is not my first language so I just go with formal rules. Care to give me a ref, which states that writing "an M-anything" is acceptable?Paul gene 21:05, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

(Thanks for the message Fvasconcellos.) Paul gene: English is not your first language, and you're brushing off people trying to help? Now that's annoying. I admit that the subtlies of research summary can be accidentally removed when trying to simplify the writing; and I think I reversed "what augmented what" at one point there; and for that I apologize, but 95% of my contributions were objectively improvements. –Outriggr § 22:38, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
OK: (1) You're both annoyed and (2) you've both contributed significantly to the article's improvement. Which one do you gentlemen think we should be focusing on again?

Armenian Genocide

Hi, actually you were the one who protected the page. The reason I'm asking for unprotection is because the user Flavius hasn't added anything to the talkpage since the protection. I don't intend to edit the article myself nor am I gonna continue the edit war. User Flavius Belisarus is a sockpuppet of a indef blocked user and wasn't blocked by an admin in assumption that he will assume good faith and stop disrupting wikipedia. If you think that the article still needs to be protected I'll understand. --VartanM 19:21, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
