About the modification on Beijing Olympics.
I don't think a tabloid news is what wikipedia wants to quote.
It reported an eviction of 2 million people in the so-called newspaper, while wikipedia reported a 300,000 people move in total for Olympics. It's a contradiction already.
Please find a way to valid the source of citation or else please delete this part. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 66.108.248.216 (talk) 10:01, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

BOLD ALLCAPS SIG
Hi WBO. Thanks for you contributions.
Your sig is really loud. Could I suggest you turn it down a little, perhaps unbold, smaller font, or a lighter color? It's not a big deal, not something I usually care about, and if you don't want to change it, not something I'd complain about. But usually by the time I notice something like this, someone else is being really aggravated by it, so maybe you might wanna consider. / edg ☺ ☭ 15:45, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

Your edits, I am afraid, are not conducive to productive or constructive edits to this article and in fact ignore the glaring problems as I have outlined including whole paragraphs containing tendentious unsourced material and other edits which are quite problematic despite superficial sourcing. Please direct concerns to the relevant talk page rather than revert blindly. Thank you. NSIprogram (talk) 16:09, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- The most glaring problem is that a few paragraphs are not sourced at all and make highly controversial claims. The second problem is that those which are sourced do not have provenance that establishes their relevance to the subject matter other than establishing tertiary political points to the US system. Above all, there is absolutely no reason to revert a dozen times unsourced, tendentious material as I have deleted. There is no valid inclusionist, et al, reason to revert it. NSIprogram (talk) 16:19, 2 March 2008 (UTC)
- I can not underestimate my appreciation for your speedy concern regarding my deletions and thank you for your considered response. Unfortunately I do see a battle brewing over the sourced but irrelevant deletions but do not foresee a serious effort mounted over the unsourced responses. I thank you for your timely edits and hope that you take general interest in this article in the future. NSIprogram (talk) 16:36, 2 March 2008 (UTC)

adop me please
Hi,
I've recently registered and created an account in Wikipedia. I am a first year PhD student in information Science. I am doing my PhD in City University, London.
My interests fall in " Visualization of huge online social networks" and specifically in uncovering the effects of geographic data (physical location of members in real world) on their online social interactions and behaviour.
Since Wikipedia contains large amonuts of online interactions among registered and unregistered users around the world, I've been focusing on wikipedians' online community recently.
As a result I contacted the wikimedia team and we are in the process of obtaining some data from their team.
At the moment, I am familiarising myself to the wikipedia features: Data dumps, statistics, tools, databases and downloading the data dumps into a database.
In doing so I really need soem advice and comments from an experienced user. Highly appreciate it if you let me know that you could adopt me.

Capitalisation
I agree with you about "non important words" should not being capitalised, but it is the title of the song. I know, even titles of books, songs, movies, etc. usually follow this rule, but many do not. See her website here: http://www.amymacdonald.co.uk/. It is also an unimportant song though and agree it should be deleted. :) Could you please do something about the title of the album, the capitalisation is also wrong and affects the search this way. Thanks in advance.--The Smoking Nun (talk) 20:36, 3 March 2008 (UTC)

Vandalism??
I'd appreciate it if you didn't refer to my edits as vandalism. Constrict vs Speed up Flow
A differential pressure flow measurement, ideally, does not waste energy. On the other hand, sometimes it is desirable to remove energy and slow down the flow (EG refrigeration). too biting?
Hi WBOSITG, regarding your reversion and vandalism templating, I wonder if this isn't too strong a response to this particular newbie edit. I don't think the user's edit was unconstructive (as the vandalism template says), but rather not in line with typical WP formatting -- a common newbie mistake. I had noticed this edit too, and had posted on his talk page hoping to work with him to fix it. Anyway, as a newbie myself not too long ago, I wonder if your message in response to my first edit would be rather discouraging of further edits. Food for thought as you continue fighting vandalism. Cheers, AndrewGNF (talk) 19:55, 4 March 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps in this case, {{uw-mos1}} would be appropriate? Just to differentiate pure vandalism from cases like this where the content is actually pertinent and on-topic. Just a suggestion... AndrewGNF (talk) 20:11, 4 March 2008 (UTC)

Welcome
Welcome Fox/March 2008
Thank you for joining the Law Enforcement Wikiproject on the English Wikipedia! As you would have guessed we are a group dedicated to improving Wikipedia's coverage of topics related to law enforcement
Since you now are a member you get to have our userbox or banner on your userpage! To add these use:
{{User WikiprojectPolice}}
-- our userbox, or{{Lawenforcementmember}}
-- our member banner.
Here are some more tips to get you started:
- Creating articles: See here for articles you can create, but don't forget to add [[Category:Law enforcement]] to the base of the article and our project banner to the talk page of the article using {{WPLE}}
- Participate on our talk page: It is highly recommended that you watchlist it. There are also a number of small projects on the talk page as well that may be of interest to you!
- Check the bulletin board: For news and information, please read the bulletin board regularly or add it to you user-page using:
{{Lawenforcementbulletinboard}}
- Improve an article: Click here to find all the really short articles, pick one from that list and improve it. When you are done go to the talk page of that article and removed {{WPLE| class=Stub}} the bit in bold and another editor will be along to see how well you have done and reassess the article to a much higher class.
All members are reminded:
- That this project aims for: No vandalism, no conflict and if particular articles in this project are suffering from vandalism, edit wars or talk-page abuse, please add it to the Article Watch List
In a nutshell:

There is a very long discussion in the talk page. And there are people who are working in the articles for months. On the other hand there are others who have no contribution to Wikipedia and just create a new account and erase what the want and add what they want without giving any explanation. Do you support the strategy of the second? I don't believe that. So, before you do more, check the history of the article and the talk page.--Vassilis78 (talk) 17:54, 9 March 2008 (UTC)

a joke
Three explorers were hiking through a vast forest that would eventually become Canada.
"You know," said the first explorer, "we should name this vast forest we're hiking through."
"I know," said the second explorer. "We'll each pick a letter and then make a name out of that."
"Good idea," said the third explorer. "You go first."
"Okay," said the first explorer. "C, A."
"My turn," said the second explorer. "N, A."
Unfortunately, before the third explorer could choose a letter, a bear jumped out of the trees and killed and ate all three explorers. Eventually, some guy came along and named the country after his aunt.
You said "tell me a joke" in your sig. I searched "joke" on Google, clicked on the first link, and clicked "random joke". J.delanoygabsadds 20:33, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

removal of comment from West Bromwich Albion F.C.
The comment you removed from West Bromwich Albion F.C. was not vandalism but a valid comment to help editors. The article states that the club have competed in English football's top flight for the majority of their existence, however this is obviously something that could change in the future. The comment points out that they would have to remain out of the Premiership until 2042 before this would no longer hold true, hence there is no need to review or re-calculate this on an ongoing basis. I have reverted your change, however please let me know if you think this comment could be improved so as not to be deleted. Thanks. --Jameboy (talk) 11:32, 16 March 2008 (UTC)

Bond Portal
Look at the huge amount of empty blue space it leaves.
What are these complaints you receive? Ultra! 15:46, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Cool
What a great way of irritating vandals. I went to check the source on you user page, and all I got was TO VANDALS. Sweet, you are an inspiration. How do you edit your user page tnhough? Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 00:40, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Mentoring
I need help getting my mainspace edits up to a respectable level, I was wondering if you would be able to help me to do that, if not, thanks anyway. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 10:43, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Maybe not adoption, a term that I think is an innapropriate use of the word in this context, and I have an adopter anyway. I had more in mind a sort of think tank, where you and I try and help each other's exploits into wikipedia, maybe diversifying each other's interests etc. I hate football for instance, perhaps I could learn to appreciate the need for a sport that brings people together. I need, I want, to get my namespace edits up, which I think you could help with. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 10:48, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- Perhaps our first point of call should be to discern each other's interests? Shall we? Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 11:10, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
your page in IE vs, FF
While I enthusiastically agree that FF is infinitely better than IE, I am afraid that your userpage looks almost identical in both. This is your page in IE7. This is your page in Firefox. You may want to change the little notice thingy on your main userpage. J.delanoygabsadds 17:47, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- haha sorry. I was too lazy to notice that... J.delanoygabsadds 18:35, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
- yup. I was waiting for my brother to get himself off his computer so we could go to McDonalds. It wasn't worth it to log into huggle for like 5 minutes, so instead I wasted that time by actually finding the IE .exe file in the depths of c:\program_files and firing it up, taking two screenshots, uploading them to Flickr, and even taking the time to change the copyright status to CC rather than all rights reserved. All this instead of fighting vandalism. I really need to get my priorities straight.... J.delanoygabsadds 18:41, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Interests
Reading, English language, guitar based bands of the sixties, and playing guitar are m main interests. Probably guitar and English are the ones I tend to focus on outside of Wikipedia, I am in a band and I want to be an English teacher. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 00:42, 30 March 2008 (UTC)

Editor Review
Hey man, thanks for the editor review, and thanks for the suggestions on article improvment, I will do those. I am not entirely certain what you mean by "talk to others like an administrator" I am reasonably certain that that is a complement, and I thank you for it, but I want to know what it means to "talk to others like an administrator" I assume that it will affect any future attempts at admin that I may have? Thanks, Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 06:51, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Thanks, I have already started to edit Hendrix, nothing major, a footnote here or there, I have submitted it for peer review. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 07:26, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Arctic Monkeys
The Project doesn't have a List class. WesleyDodds (talk) 09:11, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Hey, thanks for your GAN help. I know this one failed a GAN before, but still, if you could list out more specifically any other issues with the article when reviewing it'd be really great. If you usually do this and this was just a one off because the article had already been reviewed in the past, than feel free to ignore me! Cheers, dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 09:17, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Oh wow, I thought I had seen you around there before. In that case, thanks for helping out! Very much appreciated. Hopefully my guide helps :) dihydrogen monoxide (H2O) 09:24, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Help
I just switched from Internet Explorer to Mozilla, I am not entirely impressed. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 09:26, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- With firefox of course, what skin do you use? I got used to the modern skin, now everything looks strange. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 09:33, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- It does work, but it still will be good to be able to use other skins that have been provided, which is why I have left the template there. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 09:37, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Note left on user's talk page, thanks man. Perhaps I was somewhat ambiguous when I said that one of my main interests is the English Language. Forgive me, that is one of the main problems with the language. I meant that my passion was for the subject that I am sure you study at school, literacy I think they call it in Scotland, I love poetry and Shakespeare etc. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 09:53, 31 March 2008 (UTC)

Shakespearian articles on wikipedia generally are pretty good. Doctor Will Thompson (talk) 09:59, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
Aberdeen
No worries at all, and thanks for the award. I might end up reviewing it for GA myself. I don't like to have more than one on the go at the same time. My first suggestion would be to remove the notable players section - they've often been removed from football teams and instead lists of former players articles done instead, e.g. List of Aberdeen F.C. players. Otherwise that section is too much POV. Peanut4 (talk) 11:07, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Have a look at Category:Lists of footballers by club to look at other such lists. A lot of them have players who played over a certain amount of games. Peanut4 (talk) 19:53, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- It's not necessary to only have more than 100 games. I've personally done the List of Bradford City A.F.C. players, which has all players ever at Bradford City. But I reckon there must be more than that list who have played more than 100 games for Aberdeen. Peanut4 (talk) 20:17, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
- Just do what you can. It's a good start. I'm sure you'll find some more sources, or someone else will help fill in the gaps. Peanut4 (talk) 20:32, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
