www.englandrl.co.uk/
[edit]Hi - I find this link which you use as a source to support international caps really confusing. For instance, this morning I looked at the Emlyn Gwynne article and followed the www.englandrl.co.uk link you had posted, yet I cannot find an Emlyn Gwynne. Certainly not on the page you linked to and even after I put in a search. There is an Emlyn Jenkins, but not Gwynne. Is there a direct link you can use to support international data? Cheers, florrie 23:31, 5 July 2009 (UTC)
- Hi Florrie, apologies, firstly I made a mistake in the inline citation, putting a double // in the rugbyleagueproject URL. With regard to the www.englandrl.co.uk external link, I've been helping englandrl correct some errors and anomalies on their website, during which I also identified that only players who had played for Great Britain AND England feature on their website, meaning Irish, Scottish & Welsh players, and even English players who had played for Great Britain but not England, such as Rugby League Hall of Fame inductee, Vince Karalius did not feature. I suspect, but I don’t know for sure, but Emlyn Gwynne is probably Welsh, so he wouldn’t necessarily have appeared on the englandrl website. I believe non-England international Great Britain internationals are still not shown, but I’m hoping the statistics of will be correctly shown soon, but I’ve not been back to the articles to remove or quote out the external englandrl link. DynamoDegsy (talk) 09:25, 6 July 2009 (UTC)
- Ah - thanks for letting me know! Emlyn Gwynne certainly does sound Welsh :) florrie 11:00, 6 July 2009 (UTC)

Why i edit International RL Players
[edit]How can players just be called an Australian player when they havent played for them even when they have what about the other country they are allowed to represent are they just forgotten and the international rl eligibilty rule is a joke hayne can play for fiji one year then play for australia and tonie carrol can play for australia and new zealand so it doesnt matter any way as to what international rl category they are as long as they are able to represent them if they have a grand father/mother or father then they can play for them and i have to edit the international league pages to show how much players can represent the weaker teams for people who dont know much about international league i hope you understand why edit the way i do and hope you let me continue my editing in the future as its only fair to include all the countries they are able to represent under the current eligibility rules.58.165.209.77 (talk) 10:30, 12 July 2009 (UTC)

St Helens RLFC
[edit]Good call on moving the 2009 section. I'm just wondering which tables to move next. Your help would be appreciated. And I will try to get as many references as possible for records - I have left a reference at the bottom of the records section which links to Saints Heritage Society. And I will do a 2008 page.
Thanks,
Ymron (talk) 07:58, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
- St Helens RLFC 2008 - started.
Ymron (talk) 08:33, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
- Well the International caps certainly take up a lot of room and would probably be easier to read if it were set in a normal sized font rather than the small text. Maybe List of St Helens RLFC international footballers/players? Most club articles have a current players list (as well as on the season page) so there's no pressing reason to move that. Records could go on a separate page but some clubs also have this in their main article space, as long as it isn't too lengthy. So, I think moving the International caps will make a big difference in the length of the page. Cheers, florrie 09:28, 13 July 2009 (UTC)
- I get you. I'll get on to it.
Cheers,

[edit]Thanks for that,
Ymron (talk) 10:46, 14 July 2009 (UTC)
- Getting back to this issue, he has now played twice for the Cook Islands, does that not categories as first grade football?
- Thanks,
- I'd think so, he's played at international level. I found this ref you can use -> [1] as well as any others you may have. Just make sure you have the article fully referenced before you submit it. As the article has been deleted twice, there will be eyes on any re-creation. florrie 11:12, 24 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for your help,
- Started Dominique Peyroux,
- Thanks again,
- Well done. I've removed the Roosters and Titans NRL sides from the infobox for the moment and I'll findn out if we can include the Titans NYC team in there since he was selected while playing for them. florrie 04:34, 25 October 2009 (UTC)

Notable players of sol islands...you know
[edit]Firstly, Mal Meninga is of South Sea Island Descent, his father was a South Sea Islander and some islands in the Polynesian Triangle, as it is known, are included in the Solomon Islands.
As for the rest of the players, Sailor, Thaiday etc., another user included those because they were from the Torres Straight Islands, or were of decent of the Torres straight islands. I was under the impression that this set of Islands was included in the Solomon island so included all of the notable rl players from the page. However, I cannot find a suitable source, minus Meninga, to support that these players are of sol. islands descent.
Please reply with your view,
Thanks,
Ymron (talk) 13:27, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hiya - No, being a Torres Strait Islander doesn't make you a Solomon Islander. Two different places. As for Meninga being a South Sea Islander, you need a reference which says which group of islands are meant. It could be any number of places. Otherwise it's original research to assume he may be from one group or another. Cheers, florrie 13:48, 2 August 2009 (UTC)
- There is a reference to Meninga's book and to his biography in there but neither clearly state which specific island he is from.
- As for the others, my mistake.
Thanks,

Hoping
[edit]I'm hoping you read my comment at TurboGuy as supportive of yours?--VirtualSteve need admin support? 10:45, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
- Absolutely. ;) florrie 15:19, 11 August 2009 (UTC)
The irony had indeed been noticed ...
[edit]I largely agree with you. As List of Rhodes Scholars is somewhat off topic for an AfD discussion, I'm replying here. I hope you don't mind, because as you have been uninvolved in the List page, I'd like to get your "independent opinion" on a couple of matters.
- Comment Thank you for your suggestion, I had already read the definition. Rather a circular arrangement. Create an article, therefore notable, therefore on list on Rhodes Scholars, therefore must be notable. I mentioned the Olympics because the article mentioned the Olympics and gives an aura of notability. Yet he didn't get there. As I said, I'm not seeing the notability. Just my opinion as I am entitled - I think, still - to give. florrie 15:54, 21 August 2009 (UTC) PS, you may like to snip out that quote above from the article, it looks rather untidy. I have to say, your "brief summary" made me giggle, considering the context and all! Cheers, florrie 16:00, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
"Rather a circular arrangement. Create an article, therefore notable, therefore on list on Rhodes Scholars, therefore must be notable."
Whilst I was writing my reply on the AfD page, a similar thought also occurred to me. ;-)
- First question
The history/evolution is, every man and his dog was adding the name of their favourite Rhodes Scholar to the list, and it was a sea of red links of not-notable people. To keep the article more manageable, I therefore tried to stress the Notability aspect. Then someone came along and removed the word notable, saying that if it was a blue link, then they were notable by definition, and if they were not notable, then there was no justification for them being on a wikipedia page. My only counter-argument was, "Yes, but before the word "notable" was there, the page was full of redlinks.", but strictly, he was/is quite correct, and hence that's how the List page remains.
So, I slightly disagree with your interpretation. I would describe it as: Create an article. If person NN, then article fails AfD. If passes AfD, then person notable. Therfore, if person has article, person is notable. Paragraph. Person has article. Person is a Rhodes Scholar. Therefore, person appears on list of Rhodes Scholars.
So, question: It seems to me that the appearance of the word "notable" creates more problems than it solves. What do you think? Pdfpdf (talk) 23:40, 21 August 2009 (UTC)
- Hi - thanks for asking for my input. I initially want to think it is as simple as a difference in interpretation of "notable". Are we talking notable or notable -> worthy of attention or notice; remarkable; a famous or important person (New Oxford)? When you read through the list and see names such as Howard Florey and Bob Hawke included with Jonathan Bonnitcha and Myron Rolle, it's a little perplexing. To be honest, it was the Rhodes Scholar list that prompted me to give my opinion at Bonnitcha's AfD. If he doesn't have an article, he isn't on the list! Myron Rolle hasn't even completed his scholarship yet, but there he is on the list because, I gather, he played some school football. It sort of dilutes the significance of a notable/remarkable/important Rhodes Scholar and their impact on society, humanity, the world - somewhat. If I have a brain-wave that can translate to the wikipedia world, I'll let you know. :) florrie 02:32, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- PS, you might want to check out those red-links, I just counted 30! florrie 02:33, 23 August 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks very much for going to the effort of producing a reply that I found very helpful.
- I wrote you a really nice polite, perhaps even funny, reply, and then lost it. I'm afraid this reply will be more basic and functional.
- Yes, I think you are right that the basic problem is the ambiguity of the definition of the word "notable" - the actual use, or otherwise, of the word is a red herring.
- And I also agree with the rest of what you said.
- So I am hoping that you will have that brain-wave "real soon"!!
- Regarding red-links, I think using WP:MOSDAB criteria may be the way to go. I think I'll try that and see how many (if any) howls of protest arise.
- Again, thank you for your helpful efforts - most appreciated. Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 11:21, 24 August 2009 (UTC)
- However, that doesn't solve the problem of having young Myron sharing the significant achievements of Lord Florey. More thought required from me on that one. (Please tell me that you have your brain-waves frequently.) Cheers, Pdfpdf (talk) 11:30, 24 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit]the edits i made with his brother dennis is suppose to be in the personal section that says his backround and that but that warrior guy keeps deleting it and says it is only a one line sentenceYoundbuckerz (talk) 04:29, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
- I disagree that his brother should be mentioned at all, but if it is anywhere it should be in playing career and mentioned as far as representative selection goes. Not that Gordon is near representative level yet. As far as I am concerned all this descent stuff is undue weight unless a footballer is actually up for selection! Of course, if it isn't properly referenced, it shouldn't be there at all. florrie 04:34, 30 August 2009 (UTC)
Lifetime
[edit]I noticed when editing you recently added the template {{Lifetime}} to an article, replacing DEFAULTSORT or categories in the process. While the template {{Lifetime}} is a useful short-cut when setting up biographies it is not generally considered wise to replace existing categories or DEFAULTSORT for a number of reasons. The chief amongst them are that the template hides information from editors and automatic processes or requires additional knowledge to understand. This is only a minor point, many thanks for your contributions to Wikipedia, please keep it up!

Citing
[edit]Yes there werent any citations in what I wrote however there is not a single citiation througghout the article and yet you have chosen to only delete what I have written. Also, more importantly, if you look at the apprentice UK wiki pages, you will see that they also contain no citations in the task section and yet they still exist. That is because they contain a single link at the bottom of the page wihich contains all the information, in relation to the tasks. It is evident that writing information on the episodes can be done so, becuase at teh bottom of the Apprentice Australia page, there is a reference to the Apprentice Australia website, which contains all the information. The information that I put on there should not be deleted as it is veryfiable with the link- the apprentcie australia website. theres no point in putting a whole of references throughout the wiki page, when quite simply, one single reference at the bottom can be used. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Supun47 (talk • contribs) 10:26, 22 October 2009 (UTC)

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described in section F6 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 10:00, 25 October 2021 (UTC)
