- User:DGG Seriously? A statewide special election. Lots of notable people inolved. A series of convention meetings determining a new constitutionnand functioning of an independent state and transition to part of Confederacy. Very very substantial coverage. Very weird merge suggestion to an articpe where the content can't be fit properly. This seems a bit absurd or ridiculous frankly. FloridaArmy (talk) 00:33, 31 December 2018 (UTC)

DGG ( talk ) 01:19, 2 January 2019 (UTC)Your submission at Articles for creation: Frank K. Root (January 2)
- Hi User:Dan arndt, your comment is incorrect. The Cyclopedia entry is on Frank K. Root. Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe a substantial entry in a major encyclopedia establishes notability. I think you should course correct. A simple search of "Frank K. Root".on Wikipedia gives a sense of the onfluence and importance of this publisher .FloridaArmy (talk) 04:07, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- It might be helpful if you clarify in the draft, what exactly he is notable for. The article talks about his father and his father's company, Root & Cady, but notability is not inherited. It would also appear that Frank K. Root was not directly associated with Root & Cady or Root & Sons Music Company. Need to provide more supporting information and tidy up the draft (only include relevant information). Happy to re-assess if that is done. Dan arndt (talk) 04:21, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- User:Dan arndt Yes, his dad was also in the music business. His brother too. It would seem weird to omit those facts. He's notable as a music publisher. See the Cyclopedia entry cited. The other cite also notes the significance of his company. There is no seperate article for the company, it is a combined article. FloridaArmy (talk) 04:29, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- My comments related to the relevance of the History subsection. If you could provide more information as to what apart from the overarching statement that he was a music publisher. I'm sure that the cylopedia entry should provide you with those details. Given me something to work with. Dan_arnt 04:34, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- User:Dan arndt Would you prefer it be called "background"? Easily changed. The Cyclopedia entry is cited and linked. feel free to add any bits you find relevant. But I believe it keets notability criteria ans should be inckuded. FloridaArmy (talk) 04:40, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- Where does it actually state that Ebenezer Root was his father. Why wasn't he part of Root & Sons like his brothers? I'd like to see some supporting information. Dan arndt (talk) 04:47, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- User:Dan arndt It says he's the son in the first sentence of the first source cited, the very one we've been discussing. Have you actually read the cited source or at least looked at it? At this point I think it would be best if you approved the entry. Notability is established by an entry in a major encyclopedia. I think you've wasted enough of my time. He meets anybio criteria 3 "The person has an entry in the Dictionary of National Biography or similar publication". The National Cyclopedia of American Biography is a qualifying reliable source. Let's put this nonsense to an end and focus on improving content. FloridaArmy (talk) 05:03, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

- User:KylieTastic added the AFI links. Gypsy meets WP:ENT for having substantial roles in notable productions and meets the general notability guideline for having substantial coverage in reliable independent sources. The wp:notability page makes clear entries don't have to be finished and that subjects are deemed notable whether or not all the soirces are inckuded in the article. I am resubmitting. FloridaArmy (talk) 17:14, 2 January 2019 (UTC)
- FloridaArmy, please indicate so in the comment section of your submission. Otherwise it is not clear she meets WP:ENT with the sources provided. You need to let AFC reviewers know that she has starring roles that are backed up by AFI first. AngusWOOF (bark • sniff) 19:08, 2 January 2019 (UTC)

- User:AngusWOOF, he is discussed on several pages of the third source. He starred and directed in several films. just because we don't have articles on them doesn't mean they are not motable. Several of his films are discussed in the sources cited.including plot descriptions. FloridaArmy (talk) 19:36, 1 January 2019 (UTC)
- FloridaArmy, you need to state that either in the article itself or in the submission comments. AFC reviewers can't tell otherwise that the person is notable. Reviewing criteria says we can reject if the information is not provided. It doesn't have to be in the article as an actual citation but if it is not even in the comments where it can be backed up, then we can reject WP:AFCR "If what is written in the submission meets the notability guidelines, but the submission lacks references to evidence this, then the underlying issue is inadequate verification and the submission should be declined for that reason. Speedy deletion nomination of Tampa Times
A tag has been placed on Tampa Times requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section R2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is a redirect from the article namespace to a different namespace except the Category, Template, Wikipedia, Help, or Portal namespaces.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. - The Google Books cites are useful for me. They give the book titles, a hard copy of which can be obtained at a library. And they take me right to the section where the subject is covered even including highlights. The first two sources don't appear to have page numbers. Feel free to add additional info to the cites. I agree the more detail the better. I believe high schools are generally deemed notable and this one is historic. FloridaArmy (talk) 18:30, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- If you found the text, Google Books will show you the page numbers. You need to say where in the books you fond the information. The citations are not specific enough to verify without page numbers. Finding the book in a library, a reader should not have to search the entire book for the relevant information. Also, if this was a high school, it needs verifiable citations. High schools are not an automatic keep on Wikipedia anymore. • Gene93k (talk) 18:36, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- I'm sorry you live in an area where Google Books isn't giving you access to the sources online. Google Books isn't giving me page numbers. but it's the Jefferson County section for the first one. FloridaArmy (talk) 18:41, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- With further checking, this draft is a duplicate of Monticello High School (Florida), which is on the NRHP. The high school that used to use this building would normally get a separate article. • Gene93k (talk) 18:53, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- In this case I think a combined article will work. I will merge.when I get a chance. The current Middle/ High School also deserves to be covered. Often smaller high schools, especially those serving largely African American communities are.excluded from Wikipedia. There's a lot of discrimination. FloridaArmy (talk) 19:01, 4 January 2019 (UTC)
- On second though, I am going to rework the draft a bit so it's about the existing school. nrhp peeps are territotial. FloridaArmy (talk) 19:19, 4 January 2019 (UTC)

Yearly alert on discretionary sanctions alert for articles and content relating to post-1932 American politics and articles
This is a standard message to notify contributors about an administrative ruling in effect. It does not imply that there are any issues with your contributions to date.
You have recently shown interest in post-1932 politics of the United States and closely related people. Due to past disruption in this topic area, a more stringent set of rules called discretionary sanctions is in effect: any administrator may impose sanctions on editors who do not strictly follow Wikipedia's policies, or any page-specific restrictions, when making edits related to the topic.
For additional information, please see the guidance on discretionary sanctions and the Arbitration Committee's decision here. If you have any questions, or any doubts regarding what edits are appropriate, you are welcome to discuss them with me or any other editor.

Re your reverting of my edit.
The first para was meant to sum-up the notability in the shortest number of words.
The next para explained, among other things, that he was a slave-owner (not especially notable in Georgia) and became Secretary of State. In the previous version, now reinstated, the final sentences of the first and second paras seem to contradict on the subject of Toombs’ postwar regaining of political power. I feel that my version clarified this point. Valetude (talk) 12:56, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
- The first paragraph should summarize key aspects of the subject. Secretary of State is an important position. There are also sections of the article on his large plantations and slaveholdings so it seems reasonable to mention them at least in the intro. FloridaArmy (talk) 21:03, 14 January 2019 (UTC)
