Hey! Appreciate the work you've put in to remove that piracy link from SA articles. Some spammer/s have been at it for months and I've clearly not picked them all up. Thanks again! Robvanvee 11:14, 5 August 2020 (UTC)[reply]

I think you meant MOS:DATECOMMA

[edit]

In this edit, you changed "On June 22, 2020 at WWDC 2020, Apple announced plans ..." to "On June 22, 2020, at WWDC 2020, Apple announced plans ...", with an edit summary of just "Geocomma".

Your change is in accordance with one of the recommendations of MOS:COMMA, but the recommendation appears to be "Dates in month–day–year format require a comma after the day, as well as after the year, unless followed by other punctuation. In both cases, the last element is treated as parenthetical.", i.e. MOS:DATECOMMA, not "In geographical references that include multiple levels of subordinate divisions (e.g., city, state/province, country), a comma separates each element and follows the last element unless followed by other punctuation.", i.e. MOS:GEOCOMMA.

Both links may take you to the same point on the page, but using MOS:DATECOMMA makes it clearer which of the two consecutive recommendations your change follows, and writing it as MOS:DATECOMMA, without piping it to, say, "Datecomma", makes it more immediately clear that you're referring to an item in the Manual of Style, rather than to some mysterious entity called a "Datecomma" or a "Geocomma". (I've generally seen Manual of Style references in edit summaries in the "MOS:xyzzy" style.) Guy Harris (talk) 17:09, 14 October 2020 (UTC)[reply]

@Guy Harris: Yeah, you are right. This wasn't the fight time I made this mistake (another one here), likely because I usually add a comma after geographical references. And thanks for the advice concerning how I should format links to the Manual of Style. Sorry for the late reply – I took a month-long break from Wikipedia editing.—Fezzy1347Let's chat 02:20, 14 November 2020 (UTC)[reply]
