Applaud

I applaud both yourself and Avi for your fair, firm, reasonable handling of the Isarig CSN. If there were a relevant barnstar, it would be is yours. Italiavivi 04:55, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The code of the award for Military history taskforce elections

[edit]

Hi :) I found you gave an award to User:LordAmeth on talk page of LordAmeth.

Though I think it lacks the code "

</table></div>

" at the bottom.

I think you copied it from anywhere. could you add the code to the source code that you copied? if it lacks "</table></div>", the layout of the following comments is corrupted. and it might be the issue of my browser... I added some code to this page to avoid layout corruption. find the sign of 'Boldlyman' and check it. thanks:) --Boldlyman 21:06, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh thanks for the nore Boldlyman. It is fixed now. Thanks again. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 21:10, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

MyBigFish

[edit]

This particular sub-article/excerpt is directly pertinent to my recently-lost AfD for My.BarackObama.com (Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/My.BarackObama.com). It is unfortunate that it also involves Isarig, but I am interested as to whether or not the deletion arguments used against MyObama will also be applied here, if there is precedent here. My AfD was entirely in good faith, and I sincerely hope neither you nor Isarig would imply otherwise. Italiavivi 22:34, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I've got two answers to that:
  • No one loses or gains AfDs because WP in not BATTLE.
My.BarackObama.com was my attempt at getting away from conflicts, and it was swarmed by WP:STALKers and voted into deletion by people (including sysops) who ignored WP:WEB. If My Big Fish Games gets to be kept but My.BarackObama.com has to be merged, what kind of consistency is that? I assure you again that the AfD for My Big Fish Games had nothing to do with its author being Isarig. Italiavivi 03:07, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
  • To say it again Italia. Do you want to see Isarig becoming the way the community wants? If yes then please forget about Isarig. Imagine yourself in his situation. In cases like this, Wikipedia ethics are far more important than another thing. Anyone can interpret it the way s/he sees right. But the bottom line is that we are into a reintegration process and i don't think there are other ways except keeping it cool and go on editing while forgetting about Isarig.
Whoa, whoa, whoa. I overwhelmingly object to the blanking of User:Teens! and User:Clintonesque. It's enough to ask that we "forget" about the possibility of him having any other socks, but his past socks should be clearly identified. Italiavivi 22:41, 29 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Italiaviva. Please concentrate on editing. I deleted the accounts not to hide evidences but to tell people concentrate on what they are doing. They are there. You can contact me if case it is NEDEED. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 00:54, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I am in favor of reintegration and moving on with editing, but that does not mean I believe there should not be accountability and transparency with regard to sockpuppets. I did not see "cover up the old sockpuppets" in the community resolution and I still object to it if only on transparency grounds. Italiavivi 03:08, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hundreds of wikipedians know that Clintonesque and Teens are socks of Isarig. What makes it different Italia? The resolution is clear. Transparency? It is there. Clintonesque or Teens would be there forever. Be it deleted or kept. The difference is to show Isarig that we mean business according to the resolution but also to show to the community that we need a RESULT. You accepted me and Avi as mentors so please keep your trust on us. Otherwise this would be a kid's game which i won't agree with as an admin and a mentor. Nobody requested that from me. It is my own DECISION. If Isarig violates the resolution he would be (call it whatever he wants) and if you violate it you'd be (call it whatever you want). There is no bias here. I am an admin and work for the best of Wikipedia process. You have to trust admins and if not than we are ruined. I am firm on my decision and i don't protect anyone except Wikipedia. You talk about the form and i talk about the content. Different dimensions. The thing is that we both think about tomorrow. To make it clear enough, if Isarig does something wrong in 2010, Clintonesque would be there. If Isarig does great things in 2020, Teeens would be there but just as a cool thing. Do you know what i am doing? Give to Wikipedia and Wikipedia will award you. I hope it is clear enough that we won't get back to it if there is no problem from Isarig, otherwise i'd consider it disruption. I am sorry to say that but it seems that TRUST is missing and that's BAD. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 03:38, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Loneranger4justice

[edit]

I saw your comments on the ANI post about fourdee. I share your view that there has been an upsurge in racist posters. I was heartened by Jimbo's action in this case because no-one else seemed to notice Fourdee's white-supremacists rants, the pictures of weapons in his user space & his trolling of talk pages. There were so many red flags he was becoming quite a problem.

Recently I've been having problems with User:Loneranger4justice. His comments aren't exactly racist but they are similarly fringe. He doesn't post very often, but when he does all he does is revert to reinsert what are a mix of unsourced and fringe theories that claim feminists are nazis and that pro-feminist men are like KKK auxiliaries. I have a report page about it here. I've brought this to Seraphimblade's attention a month ago, but he didn't see the repeated reverts to be as povpushy as I did, so he recommended I RFC the pages and that I try to engage Loneranger4justice in discussion. I attempted this nearly a month ago - I left an NPOV warning with a message on August 6th. Since then Loneranger4justice has reverted without discussion 6 times across 3 articles.[1][2][3][4][5][6]. After the first 4 I warned him with {{uw-npov4}}. About 10 days later (August 27th) he made a further 2 reverts to reinsert his preferred material.

Have you any advice on this? Has Loneranger4justice broken WP:NPOV or am I incorrect in this?--Cailil talk 17:06, 30 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I see the trend. Too many POV edits formulated as WP:OR (i.e.WP:SYNTH) and some concerns about the same at his talkpage since a year or so now. Fix what you can fix following the policies above. If he persists drop me another line. I am leaving a note at his talk page. Thanks. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 03:34, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help with identification

[edit]

Hi, I'm writing because you have touched bases on the article I started on Ali Pasha Sherif a while back, and I could use some assistance. In essence, everything on this fellow I have researched is about his history as a horse breeder, but the articles I used suggest that he had some significant influence in the Egyptian government of the mid-1800s. Problem is, the horse breeding histories are vague (one said he was the "president of the Chamber of Commerce" for crying out loud!) the titles and claims of his fame conflict, people confuse titles and honorifics with names, and in short, I can't find his father's name on the list of Governors of Damascus, which he supposedly was, I can't find Ali Pasha Sherif on the list of Foreign Ministers of Egypt (which allegedly he was) and basically, while the fellow obviously had money and political power from somewhere, my sources are neither definitive nor helpful. For all I know there is another wikipedia article on this fellow under a different name. Can you skim the article for me and let me know (on the talk page would be fine) if this fellow or his father, El Sayed Mohammed, went under other names and titles? Or edit to correct information? My stake in this is that the fellow was a significant breeder of Arabian horses, worth a study for that reason alone, but I also want the article itself to be an accurate biography of the whole person. Help! Help!! Montanabw(talk) 05:20, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Montanabw. Well, i found some great reference for you. Bred for Perfection: Shorthorn Cattle, Collies, and Arabian Horses Since 1800 - By Margaret E. Derry, ISBN-0801873444. The fellow is mentioned many times in the book and you can get enough details about his activities indeed. In fact his father had been educated by Mohammed Ali and had served him as governor of Arabia. By 1873, Ali had around 400 horses from the breeding of Abbass Pacha but most died before 1890 because of a virulent disease which led to his imprisonment by his own sons (Ali's sons) because of the stud their father introduced. They immediately dispersed the remnants of the breed. Ali died shortly after his imprisonment. Is that sufficient? -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 06:19, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for the input. Unfortunately, most of that is already in the article, though I have heard of your source before and I will add it. The bit on his imprisonment is new, and rather interesting. What I cannot figure out is what he did for his career, the source information is very sketchy, and I cannot figure out, for example, if his father, El Sayed Mohamed, was the same person as Muhammed Sherif Pasha or not. Ali Pasha Sherif was allegedly a foreign minister of Egypt, but I can't fine his name on any list, nor have any idea of when he served other than the vague reference to the rulers under which he served. The problem is all available material seems only to list his accomplishments (and failures) as a horse breeder. But you have to have a small fortune to raise horses--where did he get it? Montanabw(talk) 06:45, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The answer to your last question is relatively simple. On page 106, it says that after the death of Abbas Pasha, and after the spread of animal diseases his son Hami Pasha (who has little interest in horses) auctioned them off w/ low prices. Around 200 horses went to Europe while Ali Pasha bought 40. I personally believe that since the sale was auctioned, the prices were relatively low for a son of a governor of Arabis/Syria... But i am not sure about the correct spelling of his father.
The imprisonment by his sons can be found at page 107. Here is the link by the way. As for his father, in fact he was educated by Muhammad Ali of Egypt and was later appointed as Governor of Arabia (i am not sure if the book includes Syria but i just can't guess) see page 106.
What is worth mentioning (page 122) is that by the 1950's the horse breeding situation in Egypt changed dramatically from the last days of Ali P. Sherif.
Also (see page 141), from 1914, the Agricultural Royal Society [of Egypt] started focusing on Ali's breed which carried the blood of those of Abbass Pasha.
I see that there are many post-Ali Pasha era information which is related to his breed. If you can't have access to the book please let me know. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 07:12, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hungrywolf

[edit]

You should take a look at what Hungrywolf (talk · contribs) has been up to since you unblocked him.Blackbeard2k7

I left a message at M.U.L.E talkpage. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 21:24, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I dont understand your message. You are telling me to urgently go edit somewhere else? Is that a typo? Hungrywolf changed my reference to point to a place that does not confirm the comment I added. I am actually afraid to revert it, because I am at the limit on that article, but now the comment I added has an incorrect reference.Blackbeard2k7 21:28, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please read the edit summary. A message to... -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 21:31, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The edit summary is correct, but the body of your reply is not. At the end you are urging me to go somewhere else... and I know that this is how Hungrywolf is going to view it. Did you mean for Hungrywolf to go somewhere else? Please clarify your statement. And is this discussion even appropriate for the MULE talk page? Are there going to be no additional warnings for Hungrywolf on his own talk page? And no penalty for him having reverted MY talk page 3 times in a row (with personal attacks in the edit summary)? And no penalty for him breaking 3RR on Field Commander? I find that to be biased towards Hungrywolf, which is upsetting considering his obvious disruptive behavior opposed to my effort to actually discuss these disputes like a civil human being. Look at Field Commander. First he doesn't want my review up there, but he continues to add links to more reviews, calling mine unreputable when I even showed proof. He continues his shannanigans regardless of anyones opinions. What is your opinion about his editing my reference on MULE, even after it was discussed on the talk page? Can you revert that for me so that I don't get blocked again?Blackbeard2k7 21:40, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Sorry about the inconvenience. I corrected it. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 21:47, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you, and sorry for having to go back and forth with you. I appreciate you copying the entire discussion to my talk page and I like the layout of yours. It helps keep relevant discussions together and easy to follow. Last request, can you PLEASE restore my reference to the comment I made. The reference that Hungrywolf changed it to does NOT clarify the comment I made, and I do not want to be blocked.Blackbeard2k7 21:51, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There is something more important than any reference. I've just posted this at the ANI. So everybody knows the real story now. You don't have to worry about it. Just inform me when there'd be a problem. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 22:25, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Istifsar Dude again...

[edit]

Assalam A'alaykom (Peace be Upon you)

Im the Istifsar Dude again... anyways... i recently updated several Arab Dynasties maps, and created new ones.. and added them to the Gallery along with others, i also created a template for the Arab States History

, but, i lack modern history knowledge... so can you please help me...

another thing, on my Arab Dynasties project i found several Arab users... so can i invite them into the Arab Wikiproject??

and if yes... is there any formal way you want me to do it??

Ma' Assalsamah (Peace be with you)

Salam AL. Great job. I'll have a look at the template later on. As for the outreach (contacting other potential members) i advise you to avoid it because some people would consider it a kind of spamming. Please read my advice here to another user. You have plenty of other ways to make the project known w/o being accused of spamming. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 22:47, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Maghreb and Maghreb Map

[edit]

Mate, I believe I would like your preemptive intervention on the Maghreb article and Arab League's new map edit. (see talk). The new map, as noted in my comments is not bad, but I think needs to address certain issues, above all Berber (and you know I am not terribly sympathetic to the Berberist POV.... but I feel his edits will set off problems). As one of the mentors, can you determine if any of Isarig's socks have been named in evidence at Wikipedia:Requests for arbitration/Allegations of apartheid/Evidence, and make sure the arbitrators learn of it and the CSN result if they have been so named. Thanks! Don't hesitate in calling me up if you need help somewhere... I don't know if you've also edited the Algerian Civil War entry, and I haven't taken the trouble to work much on this one, but I know that it also needs a lot of work, and that one editor was especially tiresome... It would also be nice to work out the Years of lead (Morocco) article, along with Human rights in Morocco — by the way, you wouldn't have anything concerning Charles Pasqua's relations with Hassan II?... Salam'alek! Tazmaniacs 18:23, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The Andalusian classical music and related articles also need work... Tazmaniacs 18:25, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi again TZMC. Thanks.
Algerian Civil War. I don't remember editing it before but i am using it at Portal:Military history of Africa as it is a FA-Class. Well, if you check the diff between the FA version of Sept. 26, 2005 and the latest edition, you'll see that it got even better (more details added) though i believe it needs a revision.
Years of Lead and HR in Morocco. I worked at HR article and i believe it is not enough. We can work on it if you want. The good thing about the article is that it is at least well organized. Years of lead definitely needs more work and i'd be ready anytime.
Pascua-Hassan II. Well, many Moroccans have heard about H II's alleged implications in narcotics but no further details about these allegations are known. I personally heard about Pasqua's multiple scandals (narcotics included) but never heard about any business connection between the 2 men. I've just googled it now and found nothing interesting except these two links. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 20:34, 3 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unfortunate

[edit]

Hi,

I was disappointed the way things were decided here. You seemed to be a Fair and sensible person and I respected you for it.

I thought we had an agreement that the (malicious) link was to be removed on M.U.L.E. and the link would point to gamespy.com (a reputed site) in return of the Forum link removed from Field Commander. As Blackbeard2K7 himself had said that the software was a copy from there. Which now in his recent edit says that it has nothing to do with his software that he hosts on the Website. [[7]]Hungrywolf 05:01, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no malicious software on that site (personally tested). Also lets take a look at the evidence, shall we? Here are the diffs of you stating that the site "may contain" malicious software (and in some of them, you were quite specific about the fact that it may possibly contain malicious software):[8][9][10][11][12][13][14][15][16]. Then all of a sudden, you claim that you installed it "some time ago" and it caused you to reformat your hard drive?[17]. My goodness man, isn't that something you would have wanted to mention in the first place? Everyone can see that you are obviously lying. I also never said that the software from the gamespy site had "nothing to do with" the software from the other site. It is simply the source of abandonware files which you claim to be copyrighted. I did the research to prove that the files were not copyrighted. The gamespy site has the abandonware files that are only part of the download from the other web site. However, the gamespy site doesnt describe how to use those files to play MULE online, or provide the necessary files to do so, and so it does not support the comment. Dani Bunten died while writing an internet version of the game, but it was never finished or released. The fact that it can be played online is 100% relevant to that fact, and Atari MULE Online is the only valid reference available for that comment. No direct link to Atari MULE Online web site was ever added by me. Only an article, written by a reputable source [also researched and proven and concensus agreed].Blackbeard2k7 21:13, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I did NOT follow BlackBeard2K7. He did. If you check his FIRST edit here as BlackBeard2K7 [[18]] It was in response to me having complained against him (on another Forum) for having put up the malicious software. It was a direct retaliation of that. In this he knows that my ID on the Field Commander Forum is JulyDerek, that is only because his ID on that Forum is AdamOfEvil. Does that now prove that AdamOfEvil and BlackBeard2K7 is that same and the owner of the Forum/Site that he is propagating here? [19]Hungrywolf 05:01, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Can you direct us to that "supposed" complaint? My first edit here was a warning to users because I saw what you did at the official Field Commander forum. At the time I did not know you were JulyDerek. However, you are the one that publicly announced it here [20]. Knowing who you are from the Field Commander forum, after you publicly announced it, doesn't prove anything.Blackbeard2k7 21:13, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

To fool the Admins here on Wikipedia, he has just changed his Admin id on the Malicious site from AdamOfEvil to MuleFan !!! If you or anyone had checked this site before it was a few days ago - AdamOfEvil was the Admin. Check out this link [21] Does it further prove that he has malicious intent? This person AdamOfEvil posts from an ISP - "Optimum Online (Cablevision Systems)". You can verify the IP address of BlackBeard2K7 here and whether he posts from the same ISP. It is the ISP of the place he works at [22]. Atari Online is a malicious site owned by AdamOfEvil alias BlackBeard2K7 (here) and now changed to "MuleFan". Hungrywolf 05:01, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The post you linked to doesn't prove anything at all. It doesn't prove that adamofevil owns the web site. It doesn't prove that I am adamofevil. It doesn't prove the software is malicious. It doesn't show anyones IP address. The message only proves that a user named adamofevil promoted the Atari MULE Online web site. Maybe he changed his alias after you harrassed him on the official field commander forum. And you claim to know where he works, too? Youre a scary individual. In any event, none of this is proof that I am him. Are you saying that everyone from Optimum Online ISP is named AdamOfEvil? Optimum is a very large ISP covering many counties.Blackbeard2k7 21:13, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I have no interest here on Wikipedia anymore. If Wikipedia users download this software on the basis of the reputation of Wikipedia and screw up their computers, it is your problem. I just wanted you to know the truth when you said "I had followed BlackBeard2K7 here" and to prove that the malicious site owner & BlackBeard2K7 are the same person (as he has repeatedly said he is not).Hungrywolf 05:01, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is no malicious software on either site, nor do I own a web site at all, nor am I the person you falsely accuse me of being. And so if you have no interest in Wikipedia, go away because this isn't the place for you to launch your sortie of false accusations and personal attacks. You can continue to use your unmoderated personal discussion forums for that.Blackbeard2k7 21:13, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Let the Admins investigate the above. Lol...you (BlackBeard2K7) tested your own software??? What a coincidence that you and the Admin of "Atari Online" work at the same place[23]....Lol...Another coincidence that you (BlackBeard2K7), AdamOfEvil (Admin of the malicious site) & I are members at the same Field Commander Forum? People here aren't as foolish as you (BlackBeard2K7) think. When did a thief admit he is a thief? If the Admins are bothered with the creditability of Wikipedia they will investigate and take action..... Hungrywolf 04:00, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You're all over the place. You can't even stay on one topic for more than one sentence. You won't even defend yourself. You've already been proven above to be outright lying about your accusations of the software being malicious, and multiple users have tested it and confirmed that it is not malicious from the MULE discussion page. Also I don't think a reputable gaming blogger would recommend software that is malicious, and one would assume that there would be some relevant posts on MULE forums out there indicating such, but there are none. In fact, the Atari MULE Online site is recommended by almost every MULE fan site. A "whois" on some random domain you picked out of a hat doesn't prove that I work there, nor does it hold any relevance to any of this. Do I now work for all companies that use Optimum Online as an ISP? Is it really such a coincidence that two people who have interest in a video game end up on the same web pages related to that video game? You're a desperate fool. You obviously have a vendetta against this adamofevil person, but I am not him so go bark up some other tree. You are the only foolish one here. The admins aren't going to bother with your ridiculousness. Go back to your precious little discussion forum and complain there instead.Blackbeard2k7 12:24, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You (Hungrywolf) can make false accusations about some people, all the time; all the people, some time as well as everyone all the time. It's just a shame you choose the latter.Blackbeard2k7 16:13, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Lol...he can't even think of an original thing to say. Hungrywolf 04:47, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

FayssalF, just check the IP's that BlackBeard2K7 posts here from. If his IP matches that of AdamOfEvil's (Admin of the malicious site) IP [24] then you know who is the absolute liar here. Please tell everyone if that is true that both these persons IP's match? If it is not, then I will apologize for all this. But if he (BlackBeard2K7) was lying all the time, then you should take STRICT action against him for lying to everyone here. Hungrywolf 04:31, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
So let me get this straight.. if I am lying, then strict action should be taken against me... but if you are lying, all you have to do is apologize? LOL! That is pretty one sided now, don't you think? Go ahead FayssalF, tell everyone the truth so we can see his pathetic excuse of an apology.Blackbeard2k7 05:14, 6 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

It seems that one Wikipedia user is insisting that Ahwaz-related topics should not come under the scope of the Arab Wiki Project [25] [26] [27] [28]. Could you advise on whether a traditionally Arab region of a non-Arab country comes under the scope of the Arab Wiki Project? Maybe I am unfamiliar with the procedures. There is also the issue of the Arab/Islamic conquest of Persia/Iran [29]. Am I allowed to include this as part of the Arab Wiki Project?--▓▒░الأهواز ★ Al-Ahwaz░▒▓ 13:44, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I am sorry, but placing a pan-Arab flag (flag of Arab league) on the article of Iranian cities seems like a pan-Arab attempt to label/claim Iranian territories as part of the Arab world. I would oppose if Iranians were doing the same thing on Arab articles, Bahrain for example has been historically a part of Iran, and Dubai has a huge Iranian population, but you don't see Iran's flag (WikiProject Iran) on the Bahrain or Dubai articles for obvious reasons. AlexanderPar 14:58, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
No Alexander, it is not a "pan-Arab attempt to label/claim Iranian territories as part of the Arab world". It is a WikiProject and i am responsible of the project and i am sure i am in no way a POV pusher. I've been here since a couple of years and i remember exactly when WikiProjects started.
"I would oppose if Iranians were doing the same thing on Arab articles" - Again, no. Please assume good faith. As an example, we have Wikipedia:WikiProject African diaspora which include most of the Afro-American topics. For instance, an article about [Dubai Iranians] would be treated as the African diaspora example and so on.
I think you are not familiar enough w/ WikiProjects and you are confusing categories w/ wikiprojects. I hope you assume good faith and understand the purpose of tagging. ~It has nothing to do w/ POV pushing. Thanks for your understanding. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 15:09, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I noticed Ahwaz's additions of the Arab flag on Iranian articles and I do not think either that it is an appropriate edit. Adding the flag of Arab League on an Iranian city is like claiming a country territory. I am pretty sure that you do not approve the same behaviour for Bahrein which was part of Iran till 40 years ago.--behmod talk 15:22, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I couldn't care less if Bahrain was part of the Iranian Wikiproject, just as some Iraqi cities are under the Iranian Wikiproject (some Afghani, Azeri, Tajiki, Uzbek, etc, places and people are also under the Iranian Wikiproject). It is not a contentious issue to me. The flag of the Arab League is irrelevant - it is the only flag available that officially stands for the whole Arab nation. You are also welcome to join the Arab Wikiproject to improve articles related to Arabs. I am also a member of the Iranian Wikiproject. A Wikiproject is not a point of view, it is a project.--▓▒░الأهواز ★ Al-Ahwaz░▒▓ 16:42, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I think that the flag issue is bothering you guys and believe that wikiprojects are another way to claim territories. I don't know about your histories guys but it seems that you are far away from assuming good faith and you are just here to think that X is wanting to make Y and so on. Look at how people work, look at this example Talk:Andorra. Is Andorra Spanish? No. Do they talk about Spanish flag or the Spanish or Catalan wikiproject? No. It only happens to Arabs and Iranians. That's why some other people see us (muslim world as fools). Too much noise and struggles for nothing... I am sorry but i really feel ashamed how some people think different. Get rid of your assumption of bad faith and enhance the project, which is in fact the aim of wikiprojects.
I don't know about your histories there in the Gulf region but all i know is that wikiprojects are set to help and not to whin upon. I'd not care if you do it to Bahrein if Iranian ties are clear in history. I am not a POV pusher. I am an objective wikipedian. If you don't want to add wikiprojects tags than no problem. Keep them out and i'd not care to edit those articles. Happy editing. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 15:39, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Fayssal, WP:AGF does not require that editors continue to assume good faith in the presence of evidence to the contrary. I am confident that you have good intentions, and I do AGF with you, but User:Ahwaz's past behavior (20 blocks or so to his name for POV-pushing and edit-waring for pan-Arab causes [30]) is the evidence I am talking about. Placing a pan-Arab flag on Iranian cities is a provocative action, I am sure you'd get the same reaction from other editors if somebody tried to place this pan-Arab flag on the pages of Israeli cities with substantial Arab population like Haifa. AlexanderPar 15:46, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the best thing we can do is to not put anything in there because after all, the WikiProject tag serves only to enhance articles and not to create conflicts. Just try to cool down the situation w/ User:Ahwaz. If you need help just approach me and if there's anything i can do to mediate between you, i'll be ready. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 15:56, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If you look at my original query, I made no mention of AlexanderPar. I asked for some advice from this admin, who started the Arab Wikiproject, on whether these article should or should not be put under the project. I would still like an answer on this. If AlexanderPar has a problem with this, then he only had to go to the [Arab Wikiproject talk page] and put his reasoning there instead of chasing me to this talk page and accusing me of POV pushing. It has only been a few days since he was put on parole by Arbcom.--▓▒░الأهواز ★ Al-Ahwaz░▒▓ 16:42, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
You don't have to worry Ahwaz. After all, it is just a template we use at articles talk pages w/ the aim to locate them and enhance them. They are not categories. It doesn't deserve all this fuss. So no big deals. Thanks for letting me know. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 17:10, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Now we have settled the matter of what Wikiprojects are for, could I put the WPARAB template back on these talk pages?--▓▒░الأهواز ★ Al-Ahwaz░▒▓ 17:38, 4 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The appropriate venue where to get the advice is at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Council. Whatever they'd recommend you'd follow. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 13:06, 5 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hi

[edit]

Fayssal, I'm new to this portal area. I live and work in Morocco. I edit items having to do with English since I'm a teacher of the language. If you'd like me to check something over after you've posted it, or even before, I'd be happy to help craft something that is as precise and accurate as possible.

I'm writing about the Meditel page. It is using an incorrect verb tense for "begun." It should be "began," but it is edit protected and I don't have the privileges for that area. I've always wanted to know why I couldn't go into these areas and the Morocco area so needs to put a good foot forward that I started to search for answers on how to make corrections.

Keep up the good work. Oh, and I'm a photographer, as well. Maybe I can help out with some images for some of the articles? Copyright protected, of course. Mschneblin 15:46, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

My hope, too, is for a fast recovery. Allah eeshafik! Mschneblin 16:05, 6 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Mandc.gif)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Mandc.gif. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 14:37, 9 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Byzantine-Arab Wars GA Sweeps Review: On Hold

[edit]

As part of the WikiProject Good Articles, we're doing sweeps to go over all of the current GAs and see if they still meet the GA criteria. I'm specifically going over all of the "Conflicts, battles and military exercises" articles. I believe the article currently meets the majority of the criteria and should remain listed as a Good article. In reviewing the article, I have found there are some issues that may need to be addressed. I have made minor corrections and have added three citation needed tags for several statements within the article. Please add sources for those within seven days and the article will maintain its GA status. Also, it would be beneficial if the large quotes were introduced in a prior sentence of who said them or from what excerpt it was from. Right now, they seem to just be entered into the text with a source afterwards, which may confuse some readers. If progress is being made and issues are addressed, the article will remain listed as a Good article. Otherwise, it may be delisted. If improved after it has been delisted, it may be nominated at WP:GAC. I don't see that being a problem since the article is so well-maintained. If you have any questions, let me know on my talk page. Regards, Nehrams2020 23:52, 10 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Western Sahara nonsense

[edit]

Seriously Jalil's constant ridiculous reverts have got to stop now, and the endless nonsense on Talk:Legal status of Western Sahara is the same. You said that you would mediate, and so far I see not only no progress but complete intransigence from what little you've proscribed. Please take an active role in stopping this foolishness or direct me to someone who will. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 05:34, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

The nonsense is what you, koavf, have been doing all the time: misleading the readers to confuse Western Sahara with the SADR, and trying to make Wikipedia a venue for pro-Polisario militantism. Because of your revert parole, you have traded the daily revert warring to a weekly one. Admins will really have to deal with that.--A Jalil 06:59, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Right I'm not going through this with you here. What you're doing on WP:SADR is reverting an admin, deleting meaningful content, entryism, inserting an irrelevant tag, and blind reversion. It's vandalism and it doesn't help anything on Wikipedia be better. Fayssal, will you please intervene in this absurdity? -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 07:17, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
WP:SADR????. That is another attempt at fooling people. The WP:SADR redirects to Wikipedia:WikiProject Western Sahara. You (koavf) are confirming exactly what I said: leading the reader to confuse WS and the SADR, the root of all trouble in WS-related articles in Wikipedia. The admin you refer to is NightStallion. He and Francis Tyers are your dear friends who have historically intervened upon your request to revert to the POV versions you revert to ( their talk page history shows that). So don't continue your fooling tricks again. The version that I restore is largely neutral and I welcome anyone to look at it and compare it to the POV version koavf reverts to. --A Jalil 07:52, 13 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Yep Jalil, put your money where your mouth is: if Francis and Lukas are doing a bad job as admins, report them. I dare you. -Justin (koavf)·T·C·M 04:29, 14 September 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Block of User:Lahiru

[edit]

I'll put this as simply as I can. You have blocked Lahiru k and Netmonger based on the fact that they edited with the same IP, 222.165.157.129, a Sri Lanka Telecom IP. In the same case it is stated that Lahiru edited with the 203.115.31.180, a Gateway IP. I guess I can assume good faith and put the block down to your your ignorance on what portable IPs are. Look at whois and you'll see the status of the IP listed as "ALLOCATED PORTABLE",[40] meaning it's assigned randomly to SLT users. That is in no way proof that they are the same user, so I suggest you unblock both users now, or put forward further evidence as to why you think they are socks, before this goes any further. --snowolfD4 ( talk / @ ) 01:20, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]

"ALLOCATED PORTABLE" means that one IP can be used by different users in different times to connect to the internet and not to edit Wikipedia. Lahiru is known for using socks so it is not surprising. Mystic used it and Mystic is Lahiru. Netmonger used it. Who else would use it? -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 01:31, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Your first sentence makes no sense to me at all. ALLOCATED PORTABLE means the IP is assigned to different customers of the ISP at different times. The two edits you from the IP to attempt to prove your point are from November 22, 2006 and July 17, 2007. That is unquestionably enough time for the ISP to have assigned the same IP to someone else. If one person gets the IP and edits Wikipedia in November and the other person gets it and edits Wikipedia in July the next year, does that make them sockpuppets?
Who else will use it? Do you even understand what you are saying? How about the 100,000+ SLT internet subscribers? --snowolfD4 ( talk / @ ) 01:46, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Everything i said makes sense. There are only a few accounts editing your topics who can be among the 100,000+ SLT internet subscribers. One of them is 203.115.31.180? Try WHOIS for this IP if you want. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 01:51, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Again, what are you trying to say? That there can be only one single person who can be editing Wikipedia using SLT. That's stupid and you know it. And what proof do you have User:Netmonger used 203.115.31.180 (talk · contribs)? --snowolfD4 ( talk / @ ) 02:17, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If I may add something here. Snowwolfd4, you claim that 100,000+ SLT internet subscribers would have the same IP address. If that is the case, then why does the two IP that connects Kaushi and Lahiru; Lahiru and netmonger only have about 50 edits ? There are many editors on wikipedia who edit from Sri Lanka. Wouldn't that mean that these IP (that net, Lahiru and Kaushi) used would have a grater number of edits on them ? Why do they only have less than 50 edits? Last, you claim that 222.165.157.129 is assigned randomly to SLT users. If this is true why does it keep getting assigned to Mystic from 07:17, 17 November 2006 to 5 December 2006 without another editor (as there are many Sri Lankan editors in wikipedia Lahiru included) being assigned the same address ? Mystic has already been banned as a sock of Lahiru and why is that the same IP is never used by Lahiru account after ? I mean if what you say is true (random assignment), then Lahiru account should have at least once after been assigned the same IP. However, that did not happen and instead another user (Netmonger who has the same interests as mystic) gets assigned this IP. So either I am misunderstanding what exactly random means or there is a contradiction in what you claim. Watchdogb 03:38, 15 October 2007 (UTC)[reply]
