The Sultanate of Pate was a historical Swahili state centered on the island of Pate, located in the Lamu Archipelago off the northeastern coast of Kenya. This sultanate flourished from the 13th century to the 19th century, playing a crucial role in the Swahili Coast's maritime trade networks and cultural exchanges.
