Week6 / Add a Citation and Contribute to One Article / Shangyingsun
In this week, I add a citation on article "TikTok", which is a very hot topic in this period, I found that the article talked a lot "ByteDance", but they didn't show the link or citation about it. so I add this citation on it. I think it will help more people who don't know the "ByteDance" to understand what it is. From those add citation works, I found I paying more and more attention to details, and pay attention to some hot topics or articles, at the same times, I want to help these articles to be more perfect, give more information, and let more people know more things here is the diff: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=TikTok&diff=prev&oldid=983472709 Shangyingsun (talk) 12:35, 14 October 2020 (UTC)

This is the link to the diff page: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Diversity_training&diff=985445963&oldid=982020439
This week I edited an article named "Diversity training", I edited the section purported benefits. The whole purported benefits section talked about the negative sides of diversity training however, it did not mention any benefit of it. I think adding one benefit of the diversity training could further support its description.--ASCXX (talk) 00:42, 26 October 2020 (UTC) FULBERT

Week 7/ Add a Citation / 八路军被服厂李厂长
This week I've added one of my high quality resources in the article of blockchain. In the article, where the smart contract only provide simple definition of it, so I believe adding some explanations would provide comprehensive understanding of the phrase. Here is the link for the differences https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Blockchain&type=revision&diff=985545998&oldid=985545619. What I've got from this week is that helps me to read and understand the article that both work for my assignment and FRM exams. Good for me.--八路军被服厂李厂长 (talk) 16:05, 26 October 2020 (UTC)

Week 6/Add a citation and contribute to one more article/Forza spurs
The article I assigned to myself this week is the article introducing Matt Bonner, who is a former NBA player from Canada. The following is the link to the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Matt_Bonner. Besides, here is the link to differ: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Matt_Bonner&diff=983417541&oldid=980432574. For this article, I added a citation to provide the source of some specific statistics listed in the article to better display Bonner's career development. From this process, I have learned that some common knowlege for you can be uncommon for other readers. For example, as a basketball fan, I am familiar with a certain definition discussed in an article related to basketball, but others are highly likely to get in touch with this word for the first time, so we need to expalin it.Forza spurs (talk) 03:36, 14 October 2020 (UTC)

Week 5 / Add a Citation and Contribute to One Article / Nectaros
In this section, for the article [[Virtual reality sickness]] I contributed and cited more recent research in the section "Individual differences in susceptibility." Link to diff [1]. I learned that looking at the recency of the research is important for determining notability. There seems quite a bit of inconsistency in agreement among researchers as to whether gender/sex is a clear factor in the susceptibility of virtual reality sickness and the article did not represent that disagreement prior to my edit.

Week 7/ Add a Citation / 燕京赵大知识分子
This week I read an article about Eurodollar. I added a sentence describing the two types of risk this financial derivative may face. I think this also summarizes what the author mentioned above as dollars offshore are subject to more country risk from other countries.

Week7 / Contribute to One More Article / JS11323
This week, the article I chose is my favorite Ultraman called Ultraman Zero. Here is the link of the article: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultraman_Zero. Link to the first article: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Norilsk&type=revision&diff=985397673&oldid=985178183
In this article, it mentions the impact of industrial pollution on residents’ life expectancy. While it only says that the local life expectancy is ten years below the average of Russia, I added the life expectancy of Russia in number and another comparison against the life expectancy of the U.S.
Link to the second article: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=IFRS_17&type=revision&diff=985399631&oldid=970496983
In this article, it talks about a new accounting standard designated for insurance companies. It does not have a great amount of details regarding the scope of application of the IFRS 17. More specifically, what kind of insurance and reinsurance contracts would be applicable for the new standard. The report from Deloitte illustrated the details and list of applicable contracts under the new standard. Martinmadison (talk) 19:00, 25 October 2020 (UTC)

Week 8/ Add Citations to 2 Articles/ Shawnboom
There are two articles we have to choose from this week. The first article is "Youth Suicide", why I chose this topic is after watching the social dilemma through Netflix. In the social dilemma, it talks a lot about the bad effect on people by AI and I am focused on the youth or adolescents part, so I searched this article want to know more and shows a lot of reason make adolescents want to suicide except the affection of cyber, so I add one point in this article. And here is the difference link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Youth_suicide&type=revision&diff=985768826&oldid=980029687 Here is the second article I chose "Regulation of artificial intelligence", why I chose this topic is continued above, I really want to know the law, rules, and regulation of AI and I found seems like they really want to make AI more reliable but it's really hard to summarize and define what crimes are brought by AI. So I add my short opinion, here is the difference link: https://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Regulation_of_artificial_intelligence&type=revision&diff=985775059&oldid=985723868 --ShawnBoom (talk) 21:53, 27 October 2020 (UTC)

Growth team updates #15
Welcome to the fifteenth newsletter from the Growth team!
The Growth team's objective is to work on software changes that help retain new contributors in mid-size Wikimedia projects.
Variants C and D deployed
Variants C and D are two new arrangements of the newcomer homepage. We hope they will increase the number of users using suggested edits. They both make suggested edits the clear place where newcomers should get started on the page. They have some differences in their workflows, because we want to test which design is better. We deployed these variants on October 19; half of newcomers get each variant. After about 5 weeks, we will analyze the data from the tests. The goal is to determine which variant is helping more newcomers to make more suggested edits. We will identify the better variant and then use it with all newcomers.
Structured tasks: add a link
As we discussed in previous newsletters, the team is working on our first "structured task": the "add a link" task. After community discussion on design ideas, we ran user tests on the mobile designs. We decided on the design concept we want to use moving forward: Concept A. We're now engineering the backend for this feature. Next, we will be running user tests for desktop designs.
Learn more about the findings.
Community news
- We recently deployed the Growth features to Polish, Portuguese, Swedish and Turkish Wikipedias. 18 wikis now have Growth features. Learn more about getting the features.
- Have you recently checked if all interface messages are translated for your language?
