Week 7/ Ryan1232378
In Week 7, I edited two articles on Wikipedia. The first article I edited was the Real Estate Trends article under the "Buyer Agency Growth" section. Here is the diff. I added content discussing the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the real estate market, emphasizing the increased importance of buyer agencies post-pandemic.
The second article I edited was the Superannuation in Australia article under the "History" section. Here is the diff. I added information about the significant updates to the superannuation system in 2023 and 2024, highlighting the gradual increase in the Superannuation Guarantee (SG) rate to 12% by 2025 to enhance retirement savings for Australian workers.
During the process of editing these Wikipedia articles, I learned the importance of providing reliable and up-to-date information, especially in rapidly evolving fields such as real estate and financial regulations. I also improved my skills in citing credible sources and ensuring that the content added is neutral and encyclopedic.
Through this editing process, I learned the importance of presenting information in a clear, concise, and neutral manner appropriate for an encyclopedia. I gained an understanding of the rigorous standards Wikipedia maintains for content accuracy and the necessity of citing reliable sources.
Overall, my experience with this Wikipedia extra credit assignment was educational and rewarding. It allowed me to contribute information to the public domain while developing my research and writing skills.
I learned how to effectively summarize complex information and present it neutrally and concisely. Additionally, I gained insight into the standards Wikipedia upholds for accuracy and reliability in its content.
I intend to continue editing on Wikipedia as it is a valuable platform for sharing knowledge and contributing to the collective understanding of various topics. The process provides ongoing learning opportunities, keeping me informed and engaged with current developments in my areas of interest.

- @Ryan1232378 Where is Week 7? FULBERT (talk) 14:53, 30 July 2024 (UTC)
- @FULBERT I rename it. Thanks! Ryan1232378 (talk) 01:57, 5 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Ryan1232378 The first edit is fine but the second does not fulfill the Wikipedia policy of using reliable, third-party WP:INDEPENDENT published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy WP:RELIABLE. As discussed in the assignment and class, always use a reliable source, such as an academic journal article or another high-quality reference. Avoid blogs, corporate websites, reviews, press releases, sources where we cannot determine author expertise or bias, and opinion pieces as they generally do not count as reliable sources. Please either assign yourself a different second article and add a credible source that is needed to it or find and cite a more reliable source to the one you edited. Ping me here when done, and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 18:53, 6 August 2024 (UTC)
- @FULBERT I found the official website of Australia for superannuation administration. This reference can better assist the uniqueness of my content. Here is the new diff. Thanks. Ryan1232378 (talk) 07:02, 7 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Ryan1232378 Nice edits on these two final articles, and thanks for the overall feedback on this. I hope you find Wikipedia editing useful and continue with it. Let me know if you ever need assistance with Wikipedia in the future, and I hope you continue making positive and helpful contributions! Current with Week 7. FULBERT (talk) 13:42, 7 August 2024 (UTC)

Week 6/ Garnix L
In the first article, I edited the Hedge fund on Wikipedia by adding sentences to the original paragraph, incorporating findings from the research article "The Real Effects of Hedge Fund Activism: Productivity, Asset Allocation, and Labor Outcomes" to provide more detailed information about the real effects of hedge fund activism on target firms and their employees. The link is here: diff. Through this process, I learned the importance of integrating academic research into general knowledge articles to provide a more comprehensive and up-to-date understanding of complex financial topics.
In the second article, I edited the Central Bank on Wikipedia by adding a sentence to the original paragraph, highlighting the crucial role of central banks in macroeconomic forecasting and its importance for guiding monetary policy decisions, especially during economic turbulence. The link is here: diff. From this editing process, I learned the broader responsibilities of central banks beyond just managing currency and monetary policy. It also highlighted the importance of accurate forecasting in central banking, particularly during challenging economic times, and how this forecasting ability directly impacts policy decisions. The second article is clothing and this is the diff link. I added references to the historical development of clothing and the cultural significance of clothing to make the context more coherent and complete. Week 7 / Zhilin0321
Hi, this week I added a picture in the article The Estée Lauder Companies and this is the diff link. The picture I've added is of Jeanette Sarkisian Wagner. She is the president of the company's international operations division, and she plays a critical role in Estee Lauder's international operations.
I learned how Wikipedia emphasizes verifiability and the importance of citing reliable sources. This experience taught me to carefully evaluate the credibility and relevance of sources and to ensure that my contributions meet Wikipedia's guidelines. There was also how to add media and images, especially making sure to use copyright-free commercial images, and that not every section should have an image added, but should be used in a way that is more relevant to the entry and can further help readers to understand to the content. Additionally, I gained insight into the editing tools and protocols for managing Wikipedia, such as how to use the diff function to track changes and how to interact with the community through Talk pages.
Overall, this Wikipedia extra credit assignment was insightful. I learned how to use Wikipedia's editing tools and the value of contributing to public knowledge. I will probably continue to edit Wikipedia because it is a platform where small contributions can make a big difference in the quality of information available to everyone. And of course, having the public read the Wikipedia I edit will give me some sense of fulfillment. ~~~~ Zhilin0321 (talk) 01:12, 9 August 2024 (UTC)
- @Zhilin0321 Nice image you added, and thanks for the overall feedback on this. I hope you find Wikipedia editing useful and continue with it. Week 7/ Xuhang1204
In the first article, I edited the Road traffic safety Wikipedia page by adding a concise sentence to the "Vehicle Safety" section. The sentence highlights the potential of extended reality (XR) technology to improve driver training and road safety awareness, which could lead to reduced accidents and fatalities. Here is the diff link. This addition was supported by findings from a recent academic study on immersive technologies. Through this process, I learned about the innovative applications of XR in road safety, emphasizing its growing role in enhancing training and awareness programs.
In the second article, I edited the Construction Wikipedia page by incorporating a sentence in the "Construction processes" section. The sentence emphasized the integration of extended reality (XR) technologies to facilitate better collaboration and efficiency during construction projects. Here is the diff link. This edit was informed by insights from a systematic review of immersive technologies in construction. From this editing process, I learned how emerging technologies like XR are transforming traditional construction processes, enabling more effective project management and communication among teams.
My experience with this Wikipedia assignment was both challenging and rewarding. It allowed me to dive deep into topics and apply academic research to enhance public knowledge. I learned about the importance of maintaining neutrality, accuracy, and adhering to Wikipedia's guidelines. While I found the process fulfilling, I'm unsure if I'll continue editing regularly due to the time commitment, but I now feel more confident in my ability to contribute meaningfully in the future. Week 6 / zq2197
The first article I edited is chatbot, this is the diff link. The journal article by Dawn stover suggests that as humans increasingly rely on AI for various tasks and social interactions, there's a risk of diminishing our own mental faculties, creativity, and social skills, potentially leading to what some experts describe as a form of "insanity" where humans become mutually unintelligible to each other. However, there are still some limitations of the chatbot, so I added one limitation for this article.
The second article I edited is Artificial Intelligence, this is the diff link. I added the privacy risk caused by using AI from the journal article which discusses the dark side of AI in services, with a significant focus on how AI implementation leads to a loss of consumer privacy through increased data collection, surveillance, and tracking of online and offline behaviours.
From doing these edits, I learned about the significant risk to personal privacy posed by AI systems, and while acknowledging the potential benefits of AI, it's also important to not rely too much on AI. Zq2197 (talk) 00:58, 11 August 2024 (UTC)

Week 7/ Garnix L
In the first article, I edited the Real estate investment trust on Wikipedia by adding sentences to the original paragraph, expanding the definition of REITs by adding information about their role as a bridge between real estate and finance, and introduced the distinction between commercial and residential REITs. The link is here diff. Through this process, I learned the importance of providing more specific categorizations within broad financial instruments like REITs. It also offered a more nuanced understanding of complex financial structures.
In the second article, I edited the Commercial bank on Wikipedia by adding information contrasting central banks with commercial banks, highlighting the "bank analogy" misconception and key differences in their functions and operational constraints. The link is here diff. From this editing process, I enhanced my understanding of the crucial distinctions between commercial and central banks, particularly in terms of their primary objectives and financial vulnerabilities. It also underscored the importance of addressing common misconceptions in economic policy discussions to promote more accurate public understanding.
My experience with the Wikipedia extra credit assignment was both enlightening and rewarding. Editing 10 articles and adding 20 citations along with supplementary information provided me with a unique perspective on the collaborative nature of knowledge sharing. I found the process to be engaging, as it required careful research, critical thinking, and clear communication to ensure the added information was accurate, relevant, and properly sourced.
Through this process, I gained a deeper understanding of the topics I edited, as the process of finding and integrating new information forced me to engage with the subject matter more thoroughly. Moreover, it also improved my skills in concise and objective writing, which are crucial for encyclopedia-style content. In the future, I intend to continue editing on Wikipedia because I found the experience to be intellectually stimulating and socially beneficial. Moreover, the process of editing has improved my research and writing skills, which I believe will be valuable in various aspects of my academic and professional life.Garnix L (talk) 05:44, 12 August 2024 (UTC)

- @Mt5332 Your first source is to a training company, and this edit does not fulfill the Wikipedia policy of using reliable, third-party WP:INDEPENDENT published sources with a reputation for fact-checking and accuracy WP:RELIABLE. Always use a reliable source, such as an academic journal article or another high-quality reference. Avoid blogs, corporate websites, reviews, press releases, sources where we cannot determine author expertise or bias, and opinion pieces as they generally do not count as reliable sources. Additional guidance related to frequently discussed sources WP:RSP may be useful. Please either assign yourself a different article for the first edit and add a credible source that is needed to it or find and cite a more reliable source to the one you edited. Ping me here when done, and I will review. FULBERT (talk) 19:44, 10 August 2024 (UTC)

- Hii,
- The article i edited this week is National Stock Exchange of India - Wikipedia. The dif link is National Stock Exchange of India: Difference between revisions - Wikipedia. Here i learnt about the Nifty 50 index. The information i edited adds what NIFTY 50 is. The article uses NIFTY 50 but does not describes what it is, so i did it. I have added a general meaning on NIFTY 50 index.
- The second article i edited is Suzlon - Wikipedia. The dif link is. Suzlon: Difference between revisions - Wikipedia. Here i learnt about the market capitalization of Suzlon. Mt5332 (talk) 05:57, 10 August 2024 (UTC). The information i added is the market capitalization of Suzlon. The whole article talks about the business of Suzlon and it also talks about the financials of Suzlon like sales, profit, debt etc. When all these things are talked about, market capitalization becomes important. So i added the market capitalization of Suzlon.
- @Mt5332 Please review and finish all parts of Assignment #7 and then ping me here. I will then take a look at it and reply. FULBERT (talk) 19:30, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
- This extra credit assignments were insightful as we learnt how editing in Wikipedia articles work. I never knew about that we can edit articles on Wikipedia. I learnt about different sources and different types of edit we can do in articles. I understood how important sources of an information is. 2409:40C1:1038:162B:E123:88A1:EED0:C59A (talk) 06:20, 14 August 2024 (UTC)

Week6/Swagsberyls
This week, I contributed to the X Corp diff and Cybertruck diff articles. For X Corp., I added details about a lawsuit filed by former Twitter Chairman Omid Kordestani, claiming over $20 million in unpaid shares, under the “Controversies” section. For the Tesla Cybertruck article, I updated the “Production and Availability” section with the latest changes in pricing and model availability. Through this process, I learned how to integrate current news into Wikipedia while maintaining neutrality and proper citation for credibility. Swagsberyls (talk) 01:54, 11 August 2024 (UTC)
