"Don't Panic" GA review

I think I have addressed all your concerns. Please check. Regards, Efe (talk) 02:04, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

I was actually reviewing the article right before this note. I've passed it; good work on the article. DiverseMentality 02:13, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Diverse. Me and ThinkBlue only need one more article for two GT nominations, Parachutes and X&Y. So if you are interested in reviewing "Fix You", please do it. :) --Efe (talk) 02:30, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
I think I'll go for both Violet Hill (song) and Fix You. DiverseMentality 02:39, 27 November 2008 (UTC)
Thanks. --Efe (talk) 03:30, 27 November 2008 (UTC)

Ashanti

Ashanti is not of Puerto Rican decent? Good call, no I mean 'great" call. The fact that she has only declared herself as only "Black" doesn't really mean anything if she "were" of a mixed descent like so many (especially the Asian blogs) claim that she is, but those are not reliable. The problem was the "Disney Kids - Trading Places" should have clarified which Ashanti they were referring to. What can you do, these things happen, right? Take care, Tony the Marine (talk) 03:30, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Yup, they sure do. And I just realized I misspelled "descent". How embarrassing! DiverseMentality 06:38, 28 November 2008 (UTC)

Jclemens RfA

Paper Trail

I've seen you doing work with the audio box and I had a thought that the box would look better without the "No Matter What" reference. That way you could see all the content more clear.

I didn't want to remove the reference just to have it added again. SE KinG. User page. Talk. 20:35, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

It does look a littler cluttered with the reference in the description of the audio sample. I'll try to work it into the section. DiverseMentality 21:13, 29 November 2008 (UTC)

Bring on the dancing knaves - the beer has wine gums have arrived

Have an unyielding beer on me.

Let the amber nectar flow all day and night. Let it run down the mountains and through the caverns and across the rich lawns to swamp the streets. Let it rain beer. Let the heavens open and shine forth beer. Let it all be beer. Wonderful beer. And let it be as deep as the heart of a lion.

Thank you for participating in my RfA

I just wanted to take a moment to say "thank you" for taking the time and effort to participate in my recent RfA. As you may know, the discussion closed 66/0/1 and I'm now a holder of the mop. I will keep working to improve the encyclopedia and appreciate the trust which you have placed in me. - Dravecky (talk) 00:19, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

You haven't heard?

Jennifer Hudson's brother-in-law was arrested for the murders today. I added that info myself, but take a look at the article to see if it's alright. I used E! Online and MTV as sources. --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 05:32, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

And the LA Times. --Crackthewhip775 (talk) 05:42, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

I've made a few grammar and info changes. The sources are solid. DiverseMentality 05:45, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

I just wanted to leave you a quick note and thank you for dropping in and taking care of so many items on the list for the GA review. Thank you very much for your hard work and helping to hasten the review. – Ms. Sarita Confer 07:09, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

No problem at all. And thank you for also working on the article, including fixing my error of not titling the reference and for taking time to review the article. DiverseMentality 07:16, 2 December 2008 (UTC)

Hello, if you have time, would you mind taking a look at Stephens City, Virginia. I nom'd it for Good Article Status a couple days ago. It is under "Places" on the Good Article Nom page. Thanks...NeutralHomerTalk • December 2, 2008 @ 19:43

Query

Could you please tell me why you quick-failed "808s & Heartbreak" without a SINGLE explanation? I'm assuming you missed the Fail box's main point of "State which criteria were not met on the article's talk page". Please reply, otherwise I shall assume it was vandalism and renominate it. -- A talk/contribs 18:58, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

I left the explanation on the review page. Why would I fail for you to assume it's vandalism? DiverseMentality 22:13, 3 December 2008 (UTC)
Because its happened before? Thanks for the comments. -- A talk/contribs 22:21, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

I started reviewing GANs not too long, and I haven't seen an instance where that has happened yet, so I wouldn't have known these unexplaiend fails have happened on a regular basis. Best to assume good faith than to jump to conclusions, right? DiverseMentality 22:26, 3 December 2008 (UTC)

Hi DM, responded here, made improvements and left the odd question. Nearly done. Cheers. — Realist2 15:51, 5 December 2008 (UTC)

Wooooo! Nice. nice. But Durova is busy, I think. --Efe (talk) 00:35, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Thank you, thank you; the photographer was kind enough to change the license to be used here. We'll just have to wait until Durova has time; hopefully soon. DiverseMentality 01:24, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

I did not saw that one. I was checking for freely-licensed images in Flickr but none, only images not allowed in the project. --Efe (talk) 06:21, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

That won't get much results! I look for all types, and I message the original author asking them for use. That's an easier, more effective trick. DiverseMentality 06:29, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

But others don't release their images to either CC-BY or CC-BY-SA. There are lots of Beyonce images that are damn excellent. I tried to ask the author but he only released it under CC-NC. Too bad. --Efe (talk) 10:44, 25 December 2008 (UTC)

White Lies good article review

I've left a couple of comments on the review page of the above article, if you could help me out, that would be great.

Since Ti is locked, pls edit it for me.
I thinkthe 1st TI section should be changed from 'early life' to 'bio'. Then add his kids. Here is the info to add:

TI has sons sons Messiah Ya'Majesty(2000) and Domani Uriah(2001) with ex-girlfriend Lashon Dixon. His daughter Deyjah Imani Harris(2004) is with another ex. He has dated R&B singer Tameka Cottle on and off since 2001[1]. They have two sons [2]: Clifford Joseph Harris 3rd(25 Aug 04) and Major Philant Harris (17 May 08). Their daughter Llayah Armour Harris was stillborn on 21 March 2007 [3] [4]. Cottle has daughter Zonnique Pullins(96)with a record producer named Zebo [5].

Thanks DM. 72.66.94.160 (talk) 00:19, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Well, looking at the references, NNDb is not a reliable source; I'm not sure of celebrity-babies.com, so I'll look over the site and figure that out. I'll work the two sourced by Vibe and E! into the article. DiverseMentality 01:28, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Thx.Why isnt NNDB relaible? 'celebrity-babies.com' is owned by People (magazine) so I know that is reliable. Anyways his kids are all over the web so it shouldnt be hard 2 find them. Also how come when kids names are added to bios it gets reverted citing privacy? Steven Speilberg, Ang Jolie, etc ahve their kids names on their apges. It isnt like were giving out their address. Thx.

NNDb can be edited by anyone, making it an unreliable source. I'll do some searching for T.I.'s children's names. Also, what article is this reverting being done at? Adding children's names backed with reliable sources doesn't violate any policy. DiverseMentality 21:17, 12 December 2008 (UTC)

Reviewed, nothing major, could be done in an hours work probably. — Realist2 18:00, 13 December 2008 (UTC)

While we're in the shop, I asked a while ago how you determined sources as unreliable in your 808s & Hearbreak GA review, on that page. 86.44.18.218 (talk) 10:43, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

Self-published sources, such as self-created blogs and self-created sites, are not acceptable sources per our verifiability policy. I have no idea why I added Rap-Up though, that's a magazine; my mistake on that one. DiverseMentality 02:18, 24 December 2008 (UTC)

Ne-Yo

On the history section of the article Ne-Yo, you state that the years active field should state 1999-present, because "writing credits began in 1999" (which is what you provided in the edit summary). I had put 2005-present because releasing singles (and probably recording albums) began in 2005. I would like to know what "writing credits" means and what it has to do with his years active. Merry Christmas!-71.63.45.143 (talk) 22:45, 21 December 2008 (UTC)

User talk:JuStar

You may wish to review this User - as you have had dealings with them recently. They are continuously making disruptive edits, and also blanking out all comments on their talk page, so it looks like they have had no issues. Unsure if this is against wiki policy Eight88 (talk) 00:16, 28 December 2008 (UTC)

Hey there Eight88; blanking one's talk page isn't against policy, but his disruptive editing is definitely an issue. It gets tiresome. DiverseMentality 01:22, 28 December 2008 (UTC)
Are you able to do anything about this User? Refer E=MC² (Mariah Carey album). How does one tell whether this User and an IP address are the same? User talk:89.214.175.137 . Both editing at same time, both blanking their talkpages. Eight88 (talk) 21:34, 30 December 2008 (UTC)

Many thanks.

I appreciate you taking the time to correct vandalism on our page and others. Do you have any suggestions for minimizing acts of vandalism? Is there a simple way of taking the page back to July, 30, 2008? Is there a way of blocking consistent abusers?

Sincerely, 207.88.53.69 (talk) 16:10, 31 December 2008 (UTC)

You're very welcome. There are a few ways of minimizing acts of vandalism: users who receive a final warning and vandalize after their warning can be reported to Administrators for a temporary block to avoid further disruption. If multiple IPs and new users consistently vandalize an article where blocking is not an option, you can request an article to be protected. Hope I've helped. Request to move article Want It,Need It incomplete

You recently filed a request at Wikipedia:Requested moves to move the page Want It,Need It to a different title - however your proposal is either incomplete or has been contested as being controversial. As a result, it has been moved to the incomplete and contested proposals section. Requests that remain incomplete after five days will be removed.

Please make sure you have completed all three of the following:

  1. Added {{move|NewName}} at the top of the talk page of the page you want moved, replacing "NewName" with the new name for the article. This creates the required template for you there.
  2. Added a place for discussion at the bottom of the talk page of the page you want to be moved. This can easily be accomplished by adding {{subst:RMtalk|NewName|reason for move}} to the bottom of the page, which will automatically create a discussion section there.
  3. Added {{subst:RMlink|PageName|NewName|reason for move}} to the top of today's section here.

If you need any further guidance, please leave a message at Wikipedia talk:Requested moves or contact me on my talk page. - JPG-GR (talk) 21:53, 10 January 2009 (UTC)

Ludacris and Ne Yo review

Why was the review taken off of the page written by This Is Hip Hop? The reviewer is also reviewing albums on www.okayplayer.com (none have gone up yet). Why can't the review be added to the page? Not really understanding this process and people monitoring over things that are added. Because if you are monitoring things on this page are incorrect. "Virgo" was not sampled in "MVP". The producer sampled parts of "MVP" for the song's chorus. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pan21897 (talkcontribs) 05:25, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

Why are you taking down the review? Did you go to the site and read them? What was wrong with the review? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Pan21897 (talkcontribs) 05:30, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

I left an edit summary of Only ten reviews per WP:ALBUMS. If you read the last paragraph of this section, it states that no more than ten reviews should be added, and you added an eleventh. Hopefully I've cleared things up. DiverseMentality 05:34, 12 January 2009 (UTC)

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duets:_The_Final_Chapter

^^^^ Has more than 10 reviews. Why hasn't the rules been followed for this as well? Can the review be added someplace else on the pages? I'm sorry, but I'm just not understanding the process.

Didn't answer the question about the Ne-Yo review. It was a citation towards a review for the album. Pan21897 (talk) 04:21, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

That's because no one has gotten around to it, but I have just taken care of that one. There are thousands of articles, so there's bound to be plenty of articles with more reviews. As for the Ne-Yo, I'm assuming you mean this edit where you added the link. That is based on the critical reception of all reviews listed in Metacritic's website, not for each positive review the album received. Also, there's no need to create a new section for every response, just reply in this section. Thank you. DiverseMentality 04:32, 13 January 2009 (UTC)

Thank you for your participation in my recent RfA, which failed with 90/38/3; whether you supported, opposed or remained neutral.

Special thanks go out to Moreschi, Dougweller and Frank for nominating me, and I will try to take everyone's comments on board.

Thanks again for your participation. I am currently concentrating my efforts on the Wikification WikiProject. It's fun! Please visit the project and wikify a few articles to help clear the backlog. If you can recruit some more participants, then even better.

Apologies if you don't like RfA thankspam, this message was delivered by a bot which can't tell whether you want it or not. Feel free to remove it. Itsmejudith (talk), 22:42, 21 January 2009 (UTC)

Hi, I am reviewing your article, Seeing Sounds, for GA and have left my initial comments at Talk:Seeing Sounds/GA1. In general, the article looks good. Some of the prose needs clarification and perhaps some of the quotes should go into blockquotes or quoteboxes. Please feel free to contact me with comments or questions. My RFA passed today at 150/48/6. I wanted to thank you for weighing in on the RFA--I will do everything I can to uphold the policies of this site, and try to make it a better place. All the comments, questions, and in particular the opposes I plan to work on and learn from, so that I can hopefully always do the right thing with the huge trust given to me. rootology (C)(T) 08:26, 1 February 2009 (UTC)

RfA thanks

Thank you for the trust you placed in me by supporting my RfA (which passed and, apparently, I am now an admin!). I will do my best to continue to act in a way that is consistent with the policies of wikipedia as well with our common desire to build and perfect this repository of human knowledge; and can only hope that you never feel that your trust was misplaced. Hey there, Pedro. I'm going to have to pass for now for now. Considering that Spring semester at school begins Monday, I'm not sure how active I'll still be. Alicia Keys POV

Regarding your edit here; what part of the section do you feel is POV? DiverseMentality 04:25, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Every part of the section. It's supposed to discuss the music style of the singer, but is, instead, a compilation of praises of how she is great, and has great artistry, and is the best thing to ever happen to music. I've read many criticisms of Alicia Keys, especially of her last album from reputable sources that claim how she is overrated (consider a Chicago Tribune article, or Washington Post: "When I think of her [Alicia Keys], I can't help but type 'overrated.'" Theres' a host of other articles. While I do not expect that these sources should definitely be mentioned in the article, I do expect some sort of balance. Orane (talk) 05:16, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
(My response at my talk page) Oh my. It should not be. It was just recently passed to GA status. First thing, I suggest to invite User:Journalist who tagged it to explain in detail the reasons why, and points lines where arguable. I believe its because of the quotes, but its quotes. Second, contact User:Mattisse since he/she is the one who reviewed it. If that part is indeed POVish in nature, Mattisse should have noticed it. I see what I can help when they're comments become live. --Efe (talk) 06:51, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
Oh, Orane is here. Since there are lots of quotations there, I think it should be balanced, including those negatives, as pointed out by him. --Efe (talk) 06:51, 9 February 2009 (UTC)
Consider the balance here as opposed to the section in the Alicia Keys article. Orane (talk) 08:36, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

I'll get to work on that. DiverseMentality 22:11, 9 February 2009 (UTC)

Userbox for GA reviews

The userbox {{User Good Articles reviewed}} has been updated so that it can now link to a page in your user subspace where you keep track of all your GA reviews, if you have such a page. This can be done by adding a | and then the name of your user subpage (or subsection of your regular user page) wherever you have the template called. For example, on my user page I am using

{{User Good Articles reviewed|6|User:Rjanag/GA reviews}}

which displays as

This user has reviewed 6 Good Article nominations on Wikipedia.

There is more information on how to do this at Template:User Good Articles reviewed.

Note: If you are not interested in doing this, you don't have to do anything; the template will still work for you exactly as it does now.

Pete Wentz

Not sure why you edited out the official pete wentz twitter link from his wiki entry? It's very relevant to him as a person - you'll see he uses it many times a day...

Let me know. Thx. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Woknad (talkcontribs) 22:07, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

It's unnecessary external link. If you take a look at WP:EL and WP:NOTLINK, there should be a limited amount of links. Considering he has a blog that links to his Twitter, it's also redundant. DiverseMentality 22:25, 20 March 2009 (UTC)

How about this - the bartskulls films url is a deadlink and not a valid link for pete wentz. Let's remove that and add the twitter link - which as I mentioned is highly relevant. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Woknad (talkcontribs) 20:23, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I've removed a few external links. As I mentioned above, there's no need for the Twitter link when it's linked in his official blog. DiverseMentality 20:26, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

I don't understand your argument. If you don't click his blog link how do you know there is a twitter? The information posted on each is completely different as well. It's not redundant at all. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Woknad (talkcontribs) 20:32, 21 March 2009 (UTC)

We can't link every site that leads to an artist; Wikipedia is not a link repository. Per WP:ELNO, points ten and eleven: "(10) Links to social networking sites (such as MySpace and Facebook), chat or discussion forums/groups (such as Yahoo! Groups), USENET newsgroups or e-mail lists. (11) Links to blogs, personal web pages and most fansites, except those written by a recognized authority (this exception is meant to be very limited; as a minimum standard, recognized authorities always meet Wikipedia's notability criteria for biographies)." Many musicians have a Twitter account, but because those links are available on their official site or blog, they're unnecessary and clog up the external links section. Lupe Fiasco's new album

I want to edit the information about his future albums and wanted to know if I should post this

" On March 22, 2009, he posted on his FnF Army blog the quote "If You Build It...Somebody Should Show Up..." and a link to the Twitter account We Are Lasers.[6] It was revealed to be his Twitter account with the name "Album No. 3". Later that same day, he posted on his Twitter account that he did not like where The Great American Rap Album was going so he has postponed it.[7][8] So instead he's going to use an old concept he had thought of and use that for his new album.[9] He had also stated that LupE.N.D. was canceled without any explanation why. " where it leaves off in the ""The Great American Rap Album (2009–present)"" section or should I somehow blend it in? Also does Twitter count as a reliable source? It is from Lupe himself. The proof is there in the references. I would like your opinion. Thanks! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.191.207.49 (talkcontribs) 06:34, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Twitter isn't a reliable source, so that can't be used. The closest thing I found to reliable was AllHipHop, but even then, it's in the Rumors section, it's not written in stone. It's best to for a reliable source to pick up on the story, like Billboard, Rap-Up or directly from Fiasco's own site. DiverseMentality 16:07, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

But if the Twitter is his and he posted the link to his twitter in his blog? I understand and I'll just wait for a reliable source to post something. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.129.94.96 (talk) 20:33, 23 March 2009 (UTC)

Temporary injunction and your use of my monobook script

Hi,

I am pleased to see that you have used my monobook script to remove the autoformatting or linking of dates or other functions; I hope you have found it useful.

This is to let you know that ArbCom has announced a temporary injunction against the "mass delinking of dates". You can still delink dates on an occasional basis; however, you may wish to be cautious and use the script only for its non-date functions until the issue is resolved by an RFC poll. You may wish to express your view on autoformatting and date linking in the RFC at: Wikipedia:Date_formatting_and_linking_poll.

Age Ain't Nothing but a Number

Hey there Journalist, I noticed you moved Age Ain't Nothing but a Number to Age Ain't Nothing But a Number. I'd like to point out that capitalization of the word but is incorrect. Per WP:ALBUMCAPS, but is a coordinating conjunction and should not be capitalized. I was going to move the article back to it's appropriate capitalization, but that page already has two edits, so I thought I'd let you know. — Σxplicit 08:02, 5 April 2009 (UTC)

Hi there, thanks for the heads up, and I'm glad you haven't changed it just yet. It took me a long time to actually sort out my head (is it a conjunction? is it a preposition etc), but I actually think that it is an adverb, and that's why I changed it (as we know, adverbs are capitalized).

Answers.com states

  • But
adv.
1. Merely; just; only.
2. And nothing more.
This sorts of fits in with the idea of the phrase "Age Is Nothing But a Number— Age Is Merely a Number/Age Is Only a Number/Age Is a Number, and Nothing More/Age Is Just a Number..." you get the idea. Thoughts? Orane (talk) 00:29, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Then again, on Dictionary.com under conjunction, point two, it reads, "except; save". Age Ain't Nothing but a Number → Age is nothing except a number. In this case, it is a conjunction and seems to work. I suppose this is arguable. — Σxplicit 01:06, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

I see your point, but there's a slight difference. "Except/save" suggest that it is this, because it is not all of those other things. In other words, "except" seems simply to exclude conditions/things (I hate everyone except you).
However the original phrase "Age Is Nothing But a Number" implies something more than that — it attaches a value/judgement to it, which makes it adverbial in nature. The phrase aims to belittle the concept fo "age" to the status of a number, (rendering it insignificant), which makes adverbs like "merely" or "just" far more appropriate and befitting. Won't you agree?
I know "except" works, but why settle for something that simply works when you have something that hits the nail on the head? Orane (talk) 01:34, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
I see what you mean. I went ahead and searched a few sites that listed the album (Allmusic, Rolling Stone, iTunes, etc.) and, those that used proper capitalization did in fact capitalize but. Guess I was wrong on this one. — Σxplicit 02:38, 6 April 2009 (UTC)
No problem. And I wouldn't say you're wrong; you did have a valid point, and as I stated your idea also works. Orane (talk) 03:00, 6 April 2009 (UTC)

Jeeze, can you believe some people? there is over 5 different verifiable sources which prove that the track listing has been confirmed. Its even more ridiculous because Ciaraword.com (official website) has even approved amazon's version for pre-order therefore it must be correct right? this article needs protection from IP vandalism. Thanks for putting in the request. (Lil-unique1 (talk) 21:48, 7 April 2009 (UTC))

Yes, it gets tiresome, especially since Ciara's official website confirms that the track listing on Amazon.com is the correct one. And no problem for the request for protection. — Σxplicit 21:53, 7 April 2009 (UTC)

A plea for "by-the-bookness"

Didn't recognize you under the new name ... I was surprised to see a new editor so vigorously defending Wikipedia against the Brazil Hot 100. Can I persuade you to stick scrupulously to the four level warning structure when enforcing WP:BADCHARTS? There are enough people that think it's questionable to call it vandalism in the first place, there's no reason to give them extra ammunition by shortcutting a warning level. A peak at User talk:201.209.224.71 shows the warnings I get. The higher warnings are

  • {{subst:uw-vandalism2|article name|Do not add the xxx charts, or any other chart listed at WP:BADCHARTS to any Wikipedia articles.}}
  • {{subst:uw-vandalism3|article name|You must not add the xxx charts, or any other chart listed at WP:BADCHARTS to any Wikipedia articles.}}
  • {{subst:uw-vandalism4|article name|You must not add the xxx charts, or any other chart listed at WP:BADCHARTS to any Wikipedia articles.}}
Kww(talk) 03:58, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

I knew no one knew who I was anymore. Anyway, I was unaware these warning templates existed. I've added them to my quick list and I'll make sure to make use of them from now on. Thanks for the notice. — Σxplicit 04:07, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

You can always customize the trailer message of the "uw-vandalism" macros to fit the situation by adding the custom text as a second argument. I usually do, both because that "Thank you" at the end irritates me and because it helps make sure the person receiving it gets the point. A message like You've been informed multiple times that gossip blogs can't be used as sources tacked onto the vandalism message can go along way. With newbies, sometimes the reason they repeat the bad edit is because they haven't got a clue as to why it was treated as vandalism. 99% of the time, it's because they're vandals, but there always is the 1%.—Kww(talk) 04:14, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

I guess it depends on the situation. Some IP editors are completely unaware of WP:BADCHARTS and probaby don't bother reading it, while others are persistent to get the chart in there despite being told not to add it. I use the "thank you" at the end for first time offenders. Past that, I feel the warnings should be straight to the point and shouldn't be sugarcoated with courtesies, as they either don't read our guidelines and polices or just straight out ignore them. — Σxplicit 04:22, 13 April 2009 (UTC)

Anyway, as I was saying there, I should have been more clear about the whole "Biography" title. There may be a few featured articles that have that "Biography" title, but they usually don't. Not to mention that more and more of those "Biography" titles are starting to gradually be removed. Either way, it's still an unnecessary title, in my opinion. As I said in the edit summary, the whole article is technically a biography. If you want to discuss this further, go ahead and respond to my comment on your talk page, as I'll have it watched. Take care. -- Luke4545 (talk) 20:14, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Your talk page issue is definitely strange. I hope things get fixed quickly. As for the header, I'd have to argue that it is necessary as not the entire article is strictly her biography. For example, the "Musical style" section of the article is more of an analysis of the artist's music from a critical perspective. I'd say this hardly has anything to do with her life, but more of how others view her musicianship. I think the biography header distinguishes her personal life and career endeavors from her musical style, as well as the following sections. — Σxplicit 20:29, 19 April 2009 (UTC)
Yeah, but if a section like "Musical style" is thought to not be part of her biography, then why would it be necessary to have a "Biography" title to distinguish anything in the first place? It's just adding a header to content and sections that are already established in the mind of the reader, going by that rationale; thus, it's unnecessary. I don't know if what I'm saying is making any sense; so, I apologize if that's the case. Heh. Also, I remember someone in another article pointing out a policy or discussion regarding the unnecessary use of "Biography" titles. I'll try to find it, and if I do, I'll post it here. -- Luke4545 (talk) 20:52, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

I completely understand what you mean. If you do find that discussion regarding the header, I'd like to give it a look. Okay, so now, let's say you removed the biography header from Janet Jackson, which currently has ten sections in the table of contents. Were you to removed it and manage it like you did in Keys' article, that would add up to almost twenty sections in the ToC. It would become overwhelming and messy. In this case, the biography header would from making the ToC overwhelming. — Σxplicit 21:26, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

If you count those sub-sections in the Janet Jackson article, there are still over 20 titles. So, I don't see how taking out the "Biography" title in that case would make the ToC seem overwhelming and messy. It would just be a difference of turning those sub-sections into single sections. I guess we just have a difference of opinion on appearance. Maybe in an article such as that, if you want to keep everything as is, then using the heading "Career" may be more appropriate. I know it may seem like a matter of semantics, but "Biography" just seems too all-encompassing. I don't know if I'd implement that type of formatting in every article that has a "Biography" heading, but for those that have a lot of sections, changing "Biography" to a different title (such as "Career") wouldn't be too much of a problem. What do you think? -- Luke4545 (talk) 21:56, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

I suppose that would work. If there is a consensus to not use a "biography" header, perhaps it should be discussed and noted in WP:BLP? — Σxplicit 22:04, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Actually, I think discussion in WP:MOS may be more appropriate, but WP:BLP might work as well. As I said, though, I remember someone mentioning a policy or discussion somewhere about this; I'm still trying to find it. There was brief discussion over at WP:MOSHEAD, but that was from nearly two years ago. The instance I'm referring to was fairly recent I think. -- Luke4545 (talk) 22:15, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

I guess it does makes more sense to start a discussion in WT:MOS. I'll create a new discussion there shortly. — Σxplicit 22:22, 19 April 2009 (UTC)

Someone alluded to this over at WT:MOS, but you may be interested in checking out Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (biographies). There's been extensive discussion over there regarding "Biography" headings. -- Luke4545 (talk) 07:19, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

Thanks for the note. I'll search the archives when I return from school later today. — Σxplicit 16:13, 20 April 2009 (UTC) Alright, I found a discussion of this exact topic, found here. The discussion seems to be divided, much like we are, and there still seems to be no consensus on whether biography headers should be used or not. — Σxplicit 21:25, 20 April 2009 (UTC)

So, how do you propose we go about this further? I don't know if we're editing any other similar articles besides Alicia Keys, but I think, at the very least for articles with a lot of sections (i.e. Janet Jackson), "Biography" headings should be re-named to something such as "Career," as I alluded to above. For articles that don't have a lot of sections, I think "Biography" headings should be removed completely, or possibly renamed, if appropriate. Anyway, I'd be interested if you have any other suggestions. -- Luke4545 (talk) 01:44, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Perhaps starting a discussion on articles that use the header? To get more discussion going, see the viewpoints of others. I don't necessarily mean hunting down biographies for these headings, but when seeing one, discussing it and see if others agree with your view or have arguments against it. — Σxplicit 05:32, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Do you think a time frame should be put on that type discussion? For example, what if discussion is started on that topic, but no one responds to it for a couple of weeks, or there is very little discussion? Should changes be made then? Or perhaps go ahead with the changes first, and then if anyone has any objections to it, they can bring it up in the talk page? I could mention that in the edit summary. I'd probably be willing to go along with either option, unless you have something else in mind. -- Luke4545 (talk) 05:45, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

It's up to you, really. You can boldly alter the heading, or discuss it on the talk page first. If you plan to discuss it first, I usually wait for two weeks to allow editors time to reply. If no replies are made, I would then go ahead with the change. If a revert is made, there's always WP:BRD. — Σxplicit 06:23, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

Alrighty. I think I'll go ahead and attempt either of the scenarios you outlined - the choice being dependent on the article. Anyway, it was good having this discussion with you. -- Luke4545 (talk) 06:52, 21 April 2009 (UTC)

The charts that i add are legitimate, as are the citations i add to them, i just think that I need a list of ALL the charts that are there because obviously i am doing them wrong.

And i need this list of "bad charts" because i keep getting that the charts im adding are apart of this bad charts list but how do i refer to this list to know what not to add???

and could i get a list of all the "good" charts so i know what to add?? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Ldt88 07 (talkcontribs) 01:35, 4 May 2009 (UTC)

Evan Ross on Girlfriends

Hello. I was the editor on all 8 seasons of "Girlfriends". Evan Ross appeared, uncredited, in episode 171. He plays a record producer, and has multiple lines of dialogue. I am not sure how you want me to verify this; I just checked youtube and only the very end of the episode (a scene with Crissette Michelle and Persia White) is posted. Season 8 isn't on DVD yet, so I cannot grab a screen shot. I am not sure what I can do other than say that I was the editor and he was in the show. Phatnblak (talk) 02:54, 12 May 2009 (UTC)

Found a page from the New York Times. He was uncredited on screen, but the Times apparently knew he was on because they list him in the episode.
