Hello, Ewk'sik'nii13, and welcome to Wikipedia! My name is Shalor and I work with the Wiki Education Foundation; I help support students who are editing as part of a class assignment.

I hope you enjoy editing here. If you haven't already done so, please check out the student training library, which introduces you to editing and Wikipedia's core principles. You may also want to check out the Teahouse, a community of Wikipedia editors dedicated to helping new users. Below are some resources to help you get started editing.

Settler colonialism

[edit]

Hi! I wanted to give you a head's up on the article. This is a topic area that is sometimes more closely monitored on Wikipedia, so make sure that whatever you add is written as neutrally as possible and uses the best possible sourcing. I also want to let you know that you should only mark something as a minor edit if you're doing uncontroversial edits like fixing punctuation. Adding prose to an article is typically non-minor. I also wanted to caution you about how sentences are styled - make sure that you avoid using an "if... then..." writing style since this typically comes across as original research. Hi Shalor - Yes I am excited to say that I have that source by Patrick Wolfe on hand and am fairly familiar with it's contents. It's always good to hear good feedback - especially regarding article representation. The additions fill out the sentence that was there before, utilizing the same source. Any other feedback is helpful on how to improve this edit - I am excited to become a part of the Wikipedia community :)

Hi, I was the editor who added the original Wolfe quote. A good lead "gives the basics in a nutshell and cultivates interest in reading on". Your addition does not improve the sentence's readability and I would like to revert. However, your interest in Wolfe's work and the structures of settler colonialism could offer a useful contribution to a new section. This section would provide some theoretical perspectives in an article that is currently focused on instantiations. In my opinion, it would be best if it immediately followed the lead. In any case, such a section would require significant negotiation on the Talk page. What do you think? Te Karere (talk) 22:46, 9 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

Howdy hello! Just wanted to let you know that I have reverted the changes you have made to American Indian Movement. Thanks for working to rewrite the page. I undid you edit because when you copied it over from your sandbox, it appears that you copied the text straight from the sandbox page. However, you actually need to copy the text from the source mode editor (it can be done with the visual editor too I believe, but regardless it must be taken from the editor not the page directly). That led to the format going all wonky. I invite you to keep working on the page in your sandbox however, and just being conscious about formatting when you do move it over. Happy editing!
