Hello

[edit]

It looks okay on the spelling but not on the facts. I've updated the mundhum page. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Dilipbantawa (talkcontribs) 10:46, 4 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

VDCs

[edit]

Yes I am aware of this. See the new pages now. We'll get around to correcting them over time, you can help too!! Any expansion of any of them would be great if you could help us. I also created {{Nepal-school-stub}} earlier. The Bald One White cat 21:08, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hey, I helped too! Could you help us on this quest for expanstion? the editorofthewiki (talk/contribs/editor review) 21:11, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That works. Hey, could you check out Sandhikharka - I'm trying to bring this to GA status though I don't think enough can be written. Cheers the editorofthewiki (talk/contribs/editor review) 21:18, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Couldn't agree more. Perhaps you could ask User:Fritzpoll yourself of the real need to start these article? P.S you don';t need to know anything about the places personally, there must be sources available in Nepali either online or in a library which could be used to expand them? The Bald One White cat 21:14, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pictures are more than welcome of anywhere and make a major difference, but remember we are encyclopedia editors, so to write articles there is nothing that says we must have personal knowledge of it. The idea, partly of course is that we should compile as many sources as possible to enchance wikipedia and then learn from the work afterwards and make it available for others to learn. Personal knowledge is always helpful, but work needs to be referenced and not base don original research anyway. That encyclopedia of yours sounds very interesting and is eaxctly the kind of source that should be used to expand these articles and put information into english, so others around the world can learn about places and cultures in Nepal that they would never have known previously. Keep in contact anyway The Bald One White cat 21:33, 6 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, Eukesh! Since you have volunteered to revive Wikiproject Sri Lanka and get it functioning again, your comments, ideas and suggestions will be welcome at the ongoing discussion at the project talk page. Cheers. -- Chamal Talk ± 13:56, 7 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Proposed deletion of Saleem Sinai

[edit]

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Saleem Sinai, suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because, even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Bongomatic (talk) 03:28, 4 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Eukesh. After reviewing WP:BK and WP:FICT, I continue to be of the opinion that there is no basis for a separate article. As you can see, being a character in even a very notable book does not satisfy any criteria for inclusion. Your stub makes no claims that would give rise to notability for characters in a work of fiction per the guidelines and the essay. If you have support for such a claim, then please make it. Otherwise, I'll probably make an AfD nomination along these lines. Bongomatic (talk) 12:50, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
If the entire novel is about him, then treatment of him should be in the page for the novel. By my reading, pages for characters are appropriate only if there is coverage of the character independent from one book--for example, James Bond in the Ian Flemming novels. If the character equals the novel equals the character, then why have a separate article? Bongomatic (talk) 15:03, 5 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]
That is because the characters mentioned have gained significance in popular culture beyond the novel in which they appear, and have significant papers, articles, and other works (outside of WP) devoted to their character and significance. If this is true of Saleem Sinai then you should be able to demonstrate it with references. Bongomatic (talk) 23:30, 6 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Saleem Sinai

[edit]

I have nominated Saleem Sinai, an article that you created, for deletion. I do not think that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Saleem Sinai. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. More on VDCs

[edit]

Seriously Eukesh as one of the few active users on here from Nepal we need your help!!!! Please take photos of any VDCS in your area like Bhimfedi and upload them and please help get Nepal get the coverage it deserves!. Please help expand anything in Village Development Committee (Nepal), I've worked hard starting them all but now they need expansion! As you have an encyclopedia of Nepal I was really hoping you could contribute to this area. The Bald One White cat 19:33, 8 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck with that, But photographs can be used on all wikipedias, english or the south asian ones so if you could take images of VDCs this would be great The Bald One White cat 11:55, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

File:Sisout.PNG
An example for Sisout

Hey I;ve uploaded some images for Sarankot. I noticed you uploaded some maps. However with them there is no way of identifying where the VDC is. COuld you please see Image:Sisout.PNG and Sisout as an example and try shading it in black instad so we can see where it is within the district, thats much better than a crop of the VDc where we don't know where it is. The Bald One White cat 13:55, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Eventually of course we want individual locator maps with district for all of the 3900 VDCs but I haven't the time to do that!! Anyway I'll have Makwanpur district up and running in a minute The Bald One White cat 14:21, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Believe me images of Nepal are extremely valuable. Ideally we want every VDC to look like Sundarijal eventually but your help is greatly needed and appreciated on here to put Nepal on the map so to speak. The Bald One White cat 14:50, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Yes I think it is kept as Kathmandu as this is how the city is commonly known to "westerners" and the others are then linked in the dab pages. It shouldn't stop you developing the article though, even to GA standard would be better than what we have at present. hey if you are uploading images please upload them to The commons so other wikipedias including Newari wikipedia can use the images. I can help you categorise them once you do. The Bald One White cat 16:12, 9 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]
