License tagging for Image:Janmaadya.JPG

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Janmaadya.JPG. Wikipedia gets hundreds of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 21:05, 2 June 2006 (UTC)

Concerning your Portal Proposal

[edit]

I noticed you proposed Portal:Newa and it was summarily blocked by those who opposed it. This appears to have been in violation of Wikipedia's policy Wikipedia is not censored. Therefore I've nominated the portal approval process page for deletion. The discussion and voting page can be found at Wikipedia:Miscellany for deletion/Wikipedia:Portal/Proposals. --Transhumanist 16:59, 14 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

47 in Newari

[edit]

Hi, I am collecting translations for the number 47 (forty-seven). So far I have 509 translations, which you can see here. Can you help and tell me how to say and write 47 in Newari? I'd be most thankful; please reply on my talk page. Thank you! — N-true 15:28, 19 August 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi nice new articles but thet go under Category:Vajrayana Buddhism and Category:Newari. I have no knowledge of this sect they may be the same and one category may become one. But make sure it is under one of both of these. Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:35, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

No having checked Newari is an ethnic group perhaps category using both this is very important to wikipedia. Please see Esoteric Transmission now. Also buddhist-stub Ernst Stavro Blofeld 19:37, 10 September 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I object to your unilateral and arbitrary breaking up of the Vajrayana article. It is considered polite to discuss such major changes on the talk page of the article before making such a major change. I have reverted your removal of massive amounts of information from the article. While your Esoteric transmission article might have arguable merits, I believe that your Tantra techniques article is misguided and the information it contains which is unique to Vajrayana and not other forms of tantra should be kept in the Vajrayana article where it belong. Again, please discuss first with the other editors of the article before making such major changes. Such articles are always a delicate balance of negotiation and compromise between the existing editors, and those editors should be involved when making major changes. Thanks. Hi Eukesh/Archive 1,

A new project has been created, to exclusively deal with Maharashtra and Marathi-related articles. You are invited to join the WikiProject Maharashtra. The project aims to develop Marathi and Maharashtra-related articles to Featured Article-status. You can join the WikiProject by adding your username here. However, don't forget to visit the project page. This is of course, a sister project of Portal:Maharashtra. Come, join us in developing Wikipedia. Thanks,

  • Welcome. It has been weeks and months since the idea of newsletter was mooted among the WikiProject India Community. This would be our first full-fledged edition of our Newsletter, and we'd like to start by saying we are very happy to have you among us.
  • This is your newsletter, and we want you to be part of it as well. Provide us with news tips here. It can be anything related to the project, from discussions to calls for help, and other interesting stuff within our community. If you have received or given any barnstars recently, do let us know.
  • Advertisements for recruitments within your WikiProject sub-groups are also welcome. We'll run special sections, and recurring columns in the coming issues.

  • Cartography Department (Shortcut:WP:INMAP): The Department of Cartography within the WikiProject India is a group of wikipedians who work on providing quality maps related to India. Their contributions gain more significance as we try to provide more information on places, districts and states of India. As a thumb rule, maps serve better if they are in SVG format. The location maps by the cartography department has helped us include location information based on latitudes and longitudes for a give place within India. The Indian Roadways map is a featured image, one amongst the few best road maps in the world. Still, there is more work to be done. There are 604 districts in India (see List of districts of India), and each district page needs a map of that district. You can help too. Contact the Cartography Department to learn how you can help in making the best maps in Wikipedia to be India-related!

Although having the newsletter appear on everyone's userpage is desired, this may not be ideal for everyone. If, in the future, you wish to receive a link to the newsletter, rather than the newsletter itself, you may mention it at WikiProject India Outreach Department.

Provide us with ur news tips here.

Thank you for having recently joined the Nepal WikiProject! We are still a new group, so there is a lot of work to be done. We are very appreciative of your having joined, and look forward to working with you in the future. If you have any questions about the project, please feel free to contact either me or Яανị directly. Also, I noted that you created the recent Bhutan project. I added a little text to the project page and have listed it on the Wikipedia:Community Portal, so there is a chance of a few new members from there. Also, I created a banner for the project and am adding the project to the Project Directory. I also added my own name to the list of members, although, honestly, I'm not sure how much I will be able to add anytime soon, given other commitments. But a project with at least two members looks a bit better than just a one-person project, even if the other one isn't actually doing much project-related activity. Thanks for your work to date and all the work you will contribute to both of these projects. Badbilltucker 23:21, 26 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pali wikipedia

[edit]

Hi Eukesh - Thank you for the reference to pi.wikipedia.org. What a wonderful endeavor! With deep regret I must say I can only very marginally read a little Roman-script Pali. I don't even have regular access to a Devanāgarī-enabled Internet browser. And, at this point in my life, I would only embarass myself by attempting to write in anything other than English. You give me something else to aspire to though. Thank you so much for nurturing the Pali-language WP site. With sincere appreciation, LarryR 17:17, 28 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject India Newsletter: Volume I, Issue 3 - December 2006

[edit]
Project News
  • Name change of cities in Karnataka: A straw poll was conducted on the proposal to change the name of cities in Karnataka, per the Nov 1, 2006 decision by the Karnataka government to rename them from the current anglicised forms. The result of the poll was to change the names. As controversial as the decision may be in the real world, the article Bangalore in Wikipedia still reflects the old name. You may be interested in knowing why. Dig the archives.
  • New Project Noticeboard (Shortcut:WP:INB): WikiProject India now sports a new colourful centralised noticeboard. An effort to make the noticeboard current and dynamic was mooted a few days back, and Ganeshk came up with the new format. The new noticeboard will strive to be the one-stop shop for all project related information. The shortcut is WP:INB.
  • Members List: The old members list is being phased out to give way for the new members list. New members are requested to add their names to the new members list. As the newsletter grows, further issues of the Project Newsletter will be delivered to those enlisted in the new list. So dash down now, to check if ur name is in there.

  • Welcome to the December 2006 edition of our newsletter. Time flies past like matter into the black hole. It is interesting to notice that we are already into the last month for the year of 2006. 2006 saw discussions and development beyond realisation. In the world of Wikipedia where quality counts than quantity, we have come a long way. We've made better than 'nothing', to say the least, and even that is an achievement. I take this opportunity to thank everyone including those who have dotted the i's and crossed the t's.

  • How to?: The "how to" part of assessment is very simple. Just head on to the talk page of any India related page and you'll find the {{WP India}} template. Simply classify the article based on the content and the criteria mentioned here. You can find the detailed instructions here. If you think it may qualify for GA/FA status, first consider submitting the article for peer review.

Newar Rituals

[edit]

You have created several very short stub articles on Newar rituals, such as Bahra, Jankwa and Iihipaa. Do you have enough information on these to create separate articles, or would it better to merge them all into one article called something like Newar Rituals and redirect to it? StoptheDatabaseState 22:13, 8 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I'm always interested when someone's figuring out a clever way to extend MediaWiki. The code that the Vietnamese Wikipedia uses (see vi:MediaWiki:Him.js) is incredibly complicated, as you've probably seen. However, I should probably explain what AVIM does and doesn't do. AVIM is intended for typing in only one script: the highly-modified Latin alphabet that Vietnamese uses. The 3½ options shown in the sidebar are input methods: Telex, VNI, VIQR, and VIQR* – a version of VIQR that uses * for the horn instead of +. They're not separate scripts, however. So all the convoluted code that you see in Him.js is actually for a sophisticated feature that automatically places the accent mark over the correct vowel of the word, regardless of when you typed the key to insert a accent mark. Since Vietnamese Wikipedia users also type in English from time to time (in a discussion, for example), the script has to detect when the word being entered isn't in Vietnamese. It does that by comparing the word with a set of Vietnamese spelling rules.

The code that controls the input method panel in the sidebar resides in vi:MediaWiki:Monobook.js for now – we might move it to vi:MediaWiki:Common.js soon. The relevant code is between the /* HIM */ line and the addLoadEvent(stopHIM); line, inclusive. AVIM itself understands the different methods, so every time you see code like if(method==3) in a function, that's AVIM checking which ruleset to follow. Honestly, though, if none of the scripts employ complicated diacritic-placing functionality, you're better off creating separate functions that get called based on the input method that has been chosen.

As I wasn't the person who wrote most of the code (Lt2hieu2004 was), I can't explain Him.js in very much detail, but you're welcome to borrow from that script. Despite the somewhat stern copyright notice at the top, the fact that the author (an active contributor to the Vietnamese Wikipedia) agreed to incorporate that script into the Vietnamese Wikipedia indicates that they accept the terms of the GFDL. But I am not a lawyer. :^) I think I wrote much of the relevant code in Monobook.js, so feel free to use that.

  • Project tagging:After a brief edit war over the addition of {{WP India}} to ancient archaeological sites now located in Pakistan, a "pre" parameter was introduced to remove the ROI flag from the template for pre-1947 articles, following discussion. After another large discussion on ANI alleging that the automated tagging by Ganeshbot and LostBot was "nationalistic", Ganeshbot was briefly blocked. Currently, the bots are again in action.
  • Swastika on Hinduism templates:Recently, an extremely large and at times emotional debate broke out regarding the use of the swastika on Hinduism templates, given its association with Nazism. As a result, {{Hindu Links}} now contains an educational message about the use of the swastika, as discussion on a more permanent resolution continues.

  • Jimbo's visit to India and the WikiCamp in Chennai: Jimbo recently visited India in late February and early March on wiki work. This included a trip to a WikiCamp in Chennai. The one day conference attracted 300 participants from across India and beyond dealt with issues facing wikis ([1]). It was widely covered by the press, eg The Hindu( [2]), which cited the efforts of Bhadani (edit count), Sundar (leadership on Tamil Wikipedia) and Ganeshk (Creation of Ganeshbot to create articles on Indian towns from census figures). Ganeshk himself travelled from California to attend the conference.
  • Wikipedia Weekly 15: Wikipedia Weekly, a informal Wikipedians' program that purports to give "A weekly audio roundup of Wikipedia happenings with news, interviews and roundtable discussions" recently interviewed two prominent editors Rama's Arrow and Ragib(listen). The entire 34 minute interview was entirely about the world of Indian subcontinent wiki-happenings, and was the first episode which was not entirely dominated by discussion of wiki-politics and wiki-bureaucracy, with the host Witty lama praising the efficiency of the project and its proliferation of featured content. Rama's Arrow cited the team spirit, friendship and respect among project members in discussing its success and FA productivity, as well as discussing subcontinental wiki-conflict. Ragib talked also of his public campaign to raise awareness of the Bengali Wikipedia in his native Bangladesh, which has seen a 30-fold increase in article count over the past year.

The present collaboration of the week is Religion in India. Please go through the talk page of the article to see the proposed changes in the article. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 05:26, 17 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

RfA

[edit]

Hello. I've reverted your addition of nomination into Wikipedia:Requests for adminship/AndonicO. I'm unsure how does it work on other Wikipedias, but here editors are obligated to use {{RfA-nom}} as outlined in the nomination instructions. You may move the nomination text from this revision. Good luck. Michaelas10 18:23, 25 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Your RfA

I look forward to supporting your next application. --Tony Sidaway 07:18, 3 May 2007 (UTC)[reply]

AfD nomination of Arghakhanchi Hospital

[edit]

An editor has nominated Arghakhanchi Hospital, an article on which you have worked or that you created, for deletion. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also "What Wikipedia is not"). Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion by adding your comments at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Arghakhanchi Hospital and please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate. Thank you. Please note: This is an automatic notification by a bot. I have nothing to do with this article or the deletion nomination, and can't do anything about it. Prashant Tamang

Hi Eukesh. You are off to such a great start on the article Prashant Tamang that it may qualify to appear on Wikipedia's Main Page under the Did you know... section. Appearing on the Main Page may help bring publicity and assistance to the article. However, there is a five day from article creation window for Did you know... nominations. Before five days pass from the date the article was created and if you haven't already done so, please consider nominating the article to appear on the Main Page by posting a nomination at Did you know suggestions. If you do nominate the article for DYK, please cross out the article name on the "Good" articles proposed by bot list. Again, great job on the article. -- Jreferee (Talk) 18:36, 2 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hello. Thanks for responding. I'm still very interested in starting up a Sherpa page. Re: Prashant Tamang

[edit]

Hello there Eukesh,

Yes, the prod and speedy tags were inappropriate, you were certainly right to remove them. As for the sock issue, they might or might not be a new user, anyway, I think it should be fine to apply WP:AGF here since the editor in question doesn't appear to make bad-faith edits, and they appear to have stopped (?) after you explained the thing. I'll keep an eye on their contribs. About the article, I notice some ref links are redundant, it could be a good idea to use, <ref name="something"> ... </ref> (Wikipedia:Footnotes#Citing a footnote more than once), that might help. Ah, and there's a red link in the See also section, is there a typo? If not, you might need to remove the link since the point of this section is to link to articles that actually exist :) Have a beautiful weekend, cheers.

Peacent 01:13, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Gee, that I noticed you weren't on, and that I'm having a free Sunday and cannot resist editing, I've just tried fixing the article, you might need to take a look at it to see if I screw up anything. :) Take care, Peacent 09:50, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Cut and paste moves

[edit]

Please do not move articles by copying and pasting them as you did with Dhime/Dhimay because it splits the article's history, which is needed for attribution and is helpful in many other ways. In future please use the move tab at the top of the page to move an article as this also moves the article history. See Help:Moving a page for more information. If there is an article that you cannot move yourself using the move link at the top of the page, follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Requested moves. Also, if there are any other articles that you copied and pasted, even if it was a long time ago, please list them at Wikipedia:Cut and paste move repair holding pen. Thanks, mattbr 17:24, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Any alteration of the encyclopaedic content is a significant edit, and that contribution must be recorded even if it is changed later, so the changes made at Dhime need to be kept. Aside from making it much much easier to comply with the requirements of the licence the site uses by keeping it in one place, the move feature also means that the history of Dhime is clear so that if another article was created in the future at that title on a different topic, the edit history does not have those of a different topic. And if that title then has to be moved somewhere else and another topic created at that title, you can see what a mess we would get into with keeping track of all these edits if they weren't moved with the article!
The splitting of content from another page can only be done by cutting and pasting it as it is virtually impossible to be able to split the edits people have made to a page. The creating of the page by the 'splitter' is also a significant edit and needs to be recorded at the new article. There is no harm in leaving the redirect at Dhime for now, as this is the spelling that has been used here in the past and it makes it much easier to find the new article title. There are also a number of links form other pages to that title. Hope that explains further, mattbr 18:46, 15 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
If the topic has possibilities for expansion beyond a few lines and into an article, then there should be no problem with the split. If such a change has been made, no matter how many edits the person has, it should be welcomed. As this is a legitimate scenario, this type of action should not be discouraged, which it would be if discussion was forced, meaning that that person might not contribute and expand the topic. It is also difficult to explain that discussion is advised in this situation, as how do readers (of the encyclopaedia) find out without forcing them to read pages and pages of rules and regulations in the Wikipedia namespace, which would again discourage them. And also don't forget that an account with no edits might not have an inexperienced editor behind it! mattbr 21:50, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

List of Nepalese films

[edit]

Hi there in Nepal how is it!!! I love that par tof the world and created WikiProject Tibet -Bhutan I also love -I have the famous monastery on my user page!!!. Please can you add the titles to List of Nepalese films at the bottom of the page into the correct years thanks ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 12:50, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Bir Hospital now has its own article. To be honest I have no idea what you're talking about in regards to complete bias. Explore wikipedia and you;ll see an enormous coverage of articles from every corner of the planet on every topic known to mankind. Wikipedia is very much a global project despite its American basis - and there are thousands of editors like myself who are trying hard to remve systematic bias and try to cover the whole world rather than just America. Now I really do think the Bir Hosptial qualifies for an article if it is the largest don;t you?? All you need to do os expand the article ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 12:58, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

There is absolutely no reason why each of the hospitals listed in List of hospitals in Nepal shouldn't have a seperate article but only if there is enough info available -the more info it has the more valid it becomes understand? ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 13:01, 19 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Well you can trust me that if you can find enough info enough for a starter article beyond a stub that many people on here will be extremely grateful. -Wikipedia should go beyond the Internet and compile as many sources and people from around the world as possible. It is only then it will be taken to the next level. If you could find some more info -you have my backing 100%. I'd like to see more and better articles on towns and districts in Nepal though like India ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 16:55, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Great -maps indeed are very important -i'd strongly suggest you ask User:Darwinek in particular or User:Punkmorten or User:Khoikkoi or somebody as soon as possible for some aid in locator maps -they've done such work in the past I beleive and are admin. ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 17:05, 20 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Indian Idol finalists' articles vs. Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007 finalists' articles

[edit]

Hi Eukesh. I've noticed you said "the Idol wikiproject consensus allows ALL THE FINALISTS OF ANY IDOL PROGRAMS IN THE WHOLE OF EARTH TO HAVE A PAGE OF THEIR OWN IN WIKIPEDIA" on Prashant Tamang's discussion page but if ALL idol FINALISTS can have a page on wikipedia then why not the finalists for Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge 2007? Perhaps the Idol Series is more famous worldwide, but aren't the criterea for finalists of major singing competitions all the same?

Just to give you some background, I had created all the pages for the Top 14 SRGMP C2007 contestants a month ago but unfortunately an administrator had said the articles were just not notable enough to be on Wikipedia even though the Wikipedia guidelines say that a person who entered a major competition can have an article on Wikipedia. The administrator later deleted those pages and put them in subpages of my userspace. I now work on those pages whenever I get more information and have the time but I'm still not satisfied because I don't understand how the Idol series contestants can have their articles in the mainspace while other major shows like Sa Re Ga Ma Pa can't. Can you please tell me under what criterea does Prashant Tamang have an article so I can use the same argument to back up my reasoning for bringing SRGMP finalists' articles in the mainspace because I beleive SRGMP contestants are just as notable enough as Idol contestants. Thank You - Bhavesh.Chauhan (talk contribs count) 06:46, 18 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Help needed about the succession to the Nepalese throne (Wikipedia:WikiProject Nepal)

[edit]

I noticed that you're from Nepal, so maybe you could help out with an issue concerning the Line of succession to the Nepalese Throne? In 2006 the Nepalese government proposed adopting equal primogeniture. This would have meant that the eldest child of the monarch, regardless of gender would inherit. For this to come into affect it would have to be approved by the parliament (House of Representatives). There's a lot of confusion about this. Did the parliament approve the new succession law last year or did they reject it? We can't find any English articles saying whether the parliament/House of Representatives approved the bill or rejected it. Could you, as a speaker of Nepalese find some Nepalese articles that would clarify this situation? (From discussions on Talk:Prince Hridayendra of Nepal) and Wikipedia:WikiProject Nepal. Thanks in advance! FrinkMan 12:01, 31 August 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Urge-Notice to Editors helping Brhmand Pujan to grow

[edit]

What I feel not only my article but even I am orphaned on wikipedia as well. What I so far had have concluded , very few angels are there to protect hopeless lone person like me or my hard put work. From the surviving truth that all were erased in past except this small para of article Brhmand Pujan. How it succeeded to sustained till date God knows? Today , I don’t know what wrong I did in pleading Zetawoof to remove my letters of appeal from his talk page as they are giving wrong signals on search engine hits. The next minute what he did was to come on our article and warn to destroy the page highlighting a deletion banner. Is the humiliation me or my article not over yet ? What wrong I did today in requesting him? You see, It was only a humble request to him. Now what I feel the day is very close that this particular page also would be destroyed by some egoist self employed gang who does not believe in supportive creations on wikipedia. As we would be scare in two terms – shortage of votes or otherwise. How long could I ask or search invisible angels like you, Aleta, Graeme, Eukesh and others. I once again appeal to you to do the needful and let ‘truth of transparent sense survive’ in wikipedia where populated and condensed bias & egos are ruling on counted roost. I would ask the Guardians of Wikipedia - Do Zetawoof or people alike bother a least to honor the previous instructing banners that support our article which has been advised to grow as the same only lack due to ‘orphaned or stubbed’. In past let we ask honorable judges to interfere. Regards to all of you.--Dralansun (talk) 07:04, 27 January 2008 (UTC)[reply]

en:Religious harmony in India listed for deletion

[edit]
The article en:Religious harmony in India listed for deletion second time.I wonder why people should have POV against en:Religious harmony in India but that POV is quite apparant that is the reason it is listed en:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Religious harmony in India here.
I request those who want to keep this article do vote at en:Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Religious harmony in India so I can keep working further on this article.
If every 10 minutes if some one or other wants to delete the article how do I spend more time to improve the article ? Openion from people working on India related projects is needed urgently.

Thanks and looking forward to support

va and ba

[edit]

thx, this keeps confusing me. When it is ba in hindi its va in Nepali, and vice-versa? --Soman (talk) 15:41, 25 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi - a stub template or category which you created has been nominated for deletion or renaming at Wikipedia:Stub types for deletion. The stub type, which was not proposed at Wikipedia:WikiProject Stub sorting/Proposals, does not meet the standard requirements for a stub type, either through being incorrectly named, ambiguously scoped, or through failure to meet standards relating to the current stub hierarchy or likely size, as explained at Wikipedia:Stub. Please feel free to make any comments at WP:SFD regarding this stub type, and in future, please consider proposing new stub types first! Grutness...wha? 00:43, 26 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Shi'a-Sunni sectarianism! What next?

Wikipedia has always had its fair share of disputes. The issues surrounding debates like creationism-evolutionism had been a source of many edit wars. But recently enough, the ball-of-chaos had landed in our very own court. Pakistani issues are now polluted with a new sectarianism, especially the biographical articles celebrating some of the most influential people in Pakistani politics. These edit wars annoyed administrators who had no idea how the problems should be dealt with. Instances of religious inclination (either Shi'a Islam or Sunni Islam) were changed from one or the other. Debates have kicked off on the WP Pakistan talk page. Recently enough, a new policy has come into discussion (actually, it's just a set of rules) that defines major guidlines for such issues. It now awaits votes from all Pakistani editors.

In other news: Akhtar Hameed Khan has finally reached the FA status and Islescape is the happiest person on Earth.

AfD nomination of Durga Nanda Jha

[edit]

I have nominated Durga Nanda Jha, an article you created, for deletion. I do not feel that this article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and have explained why at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Durga Nanda Jha. Your opinions on the matter are welcome at that same discussion page; also, you are welcome to edit the article to address these concerns. Thank you for your time. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? Cricketgirl (talk) 22:56, 27 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hi, thanks for your message.

I have no involvement with this article beyong having seen it at Category:Uncategorized pages and thinking it failed WP:N. I took it to WP:AFD, where the consensus was keep, and so I am not really interested in the article any more. If you want to rewrite it, feel free.

I have not changed the article in any way (although I did suggest that it was quite POV when I nominated it (especially the bit about being a martyr), which caused someone else to change the article).

I agree with your suggestion that the article should not label him as a martyr or as an assassin until there has been formal recognition in respectable sources that he is one or the other. I would also say that the article is in desperate need of citations.

Kind regards, Cricketgirl (talk) 18:18, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Beauties and PR

If you were lucky enough to watch that episode on Nadia Khan's show on Geo TV where Sonia Ahmed and Mahleej Sarkari were invited, you'd know that the Miss Pakistan World pageant is really the hype. At least, when it comes to controversies, the organiser know where to bring the PR campaign. Their serious POV edits which have been proven to be made by the organisers and associates of the pageant are under debate at the article's deletion debate.

Follow-up on the last issue

In the last issue, we discussed about the sectarian issues that Pakistani articles were prone to. For an update, an advocate of the Shi'a faith and its prominent inclusion into the articles, LahoreKid has been banned for an indefinite period. In the process, a citation review project page was created for providing editors with a third-opinion on vague references.

For a in-depth coverage, read the talks here. Some news issues will be addressed shortly and new activities like contests and quizzes would be announced shortly as well.

Talking of sects...

I don't want to sound like a separatist, if I say that for the past few weeks the highest number of edits on anything related to Pakistan have been on articles that concerned Baluchistan. From major editions to the article on Quetta to the 1935 Balochistan earthquake tragedy.

In other news: It is now important for editors to look into the logistics section for gaining or providing support for various things in the article such as graphics or copy-editing. So, if you need copy-editing of an article, or your article lacks a picture, please consult at this page.

sa and sha

[edit]

Hi. I keep on being confused by the system of transliterations from nepali. I'm trying to read krantikarinepal.blogsome.com/2006/01/04/kathmandu-4/. Does मशाल refer to 'Masal' and 'मसाल' to 'Mashal'? In Hindi it would be opposite. --Soman (talk) 10:21, 8 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

i-post

[edit]

Email to Postal Mail

A convenient free postal mail service which can deliver email messages all over Pakistan. Peoples can now use their email to send letters giving you another route to communicate with others who are not connected to the Internet in Pakistan.

In recent past Internet and e-mail have revolutionized the world of communications. But those who do not have easy access to Internet and e-mail facilities could not get benefits of this facility. In its endeavour to make the benefits of e-mail available to a common man, Al Tayyeb Group has introduced i-post service. By i-post all those who do not have computer or do not have access to Internet can send e-mail by Post Office or receive e-mail through a postman. Those who have access to Internet can also send i-post to those who do not have access to Internet.

Wikipedia should have an article on this social service & must be a part of WikiProject Pakistan. Please comments. --SaqibChaudhry (talk) 09:19, 15 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]
