Unblock request
[edit]Elfiños (block log • active blocks • global blocks • contribs • deleted contribs • filter log • creation log • change block settings • unblock • checkuser (log))
Request reason:
I am requesting an unblock because I believe I have been falsely accused. There has been a misunderstanding; I am not Diabedia but I have met him personally. I go to college in the New York area, but from what I know, Diabedia does not go to college. Coincidentally, I saw him one day on a laptop and I spoke with him. He told me he drives to random locations and operates under those IPs, along with using proxies to avoid being blocked. He is originally from Manitoba but has a job in New York, so I asked him why he would rather fritter away his time of vandalizing Wikipedia instead of focusing on his job. He then responded in a haughty tone with profanity and walked away. I strongly dislike these people so when I got to my own computer, I just had to report that guy. When I filed that report, I knew an admin was going to block me because I realized that the IP I was editing from was in the 192.100.55.0/24 range, which is registered to Adelphi University. Diabedia does not attend this school and I told him to never return to the area or I would notify security. He edits under several IPs so there is no reason to jump to such conclusion to block the IP range multiple students are editing from. Furthermore, there isn’t any evidence in my edits that would lead admins to think I am Diabedia. I wouldn’t ask for more at this point. Please unblock me if possible. Thank you. Request reason:
I swear I am not Diabedia. We are completely different users. In fact, I was trying to undo the vandalism he has done. Please trust me, I would not lie about this as I do not impersonate others. There has been a big misunderstanding. If I was Diabedia I wouldn't report myself. Besides, who would? Is there any record of me vandalizing any articles or triggering the edit filter? I hardly edit WP in the first place, and I find it peculiar that I am blocked because of a false accusation of another user who turned out to be in the same location as I was that very day. From the accusation and the CheckUser results, I do admit we were editing in the same location that day, but just because we were, does not mean we are the same user. CheckUser can be an excellent tool for solving sockpuppet investigations, but it doesn't always have to be 100% accurate. We were using different devices. As I’ve mentioned in the previous unblock request, I saw Diabedia trespassing (yes, trespassing!) in an area and that's how I personally met him. I cannot believe someone would do this; trespassing to various locations just so they can evade blocks on Wikipedia and all this senseless drama. What a shame. I spoke with him, told him to stop causing trouble in WP, but when he got defensive, I eventually put my foot down and demanded him to not return to this area again or there will be consequences. Heck, he even told me he hails from Canada but is a consultant here in the U.S., though I really do hope he goes back to his country.
This isn't the first time that this has happened. I am not the only user requesting an unblock, see [1]. I also concur with the user that requested an unblock for the falsely accused PoetOfSaiMiHunManKal, see [2]. One user even posted on the ANI because he believed some false accusations were made as well: [3]. I do believe there are several users accused of Diabedia’s sockpuppets are not actually his sockpuppets.
I am not only speaking on my behalf. I have a few personal friends (Matriculator (talk · contribs), Algebra2Trig (talk · contribs), Carpetta (talk · contribs)) who enjoy using WP. When they made an edit or two, they got blocked for the same accusation of Diabedia's sockpuppets a while ago. Two of my friends are aware of this situation and filed reports on the user. Unfortunately they were still being falsely accused so that's when I chimed in. However, due to us sharing the same NY-based IP, they were blocked because of the CheckUser results against Diabedia.
If that is the case, perhaps another duck test would be an equitable resort. I would like to hear from you admins if any of our behaviors match his. For example, such action was done on Ninjoust (talk · contribs) and Shibuyevo Zhangshulokikomav (talk · contribs) to find out their behaviors are perfectly aligned with Diabedia’s because of their edit content and their negative attitude towards other users. If you refer to the sockpuppet investigations case page, a user found several intersections between one of his confirmed sockpuppets and the master: [4]. Thus, from the information I've provided, it is plausible to belive they are his sockpuppets.
I, on the other hand, do not believe I should be penalized for sockpuppetry because I am simply not Diabedia. I think it is amiss to jump to such conclusion that because CheckUser suggests it, this automatically makes me a sockpuppet of Diabedia. If you have time to perform a duck test, I would like to hear from you. Thank you. Sincerely, Elfiños (talk) 23:45, 12 January 2018 (UTC)
Decline reason:
Two checkusers confirmed socking here. Ordinary administrators are not allowed to lift checkuser-imposed blocks. I also have to note that your "stories" are totally unbelievable. As you show no intention to change your story, I'm revoking your talk page access. If you are still sure you are not Diabedia, please contact the WP:Arbcom. Help in Unblock Ticket Request System
[edit]Hello fellow editors, I am submitting a block request through the Unblock Ticket Request System, but it is not letting me submit even though I have answered all the questions. (Please take some time to read and understand my frustrations. I gave reasons of why my block was unjust.)
I have thoroughly answered all the questions, as shown below:
What is your email address?
I typed in my email address: elfinyos@gmail.com
Do you have an account on Wikipedia?
I filled in 'Yes'
What is the name of your account?
I answered "Elfiños"
What has been blocked?
"My account"
Why do you believe you should be unblocked?
My answer is "I believe I should be unblocked because my purpose on Wikipedia was to edit constructively and fix any errors I could come across. I caused no disruption whatsoever within the Wikipedia community nor received any warnings due to my edits. I have also read the rules of what is to be expected, cleanup/improve articles, and I put on my best behavior (avoiding any conflict with fellow editors). I originally was not involved in any conflict nor incidents in Wikipedia, however, I have been falsely accused of sock puppetry. There might have been another user in the vincinity commiting sock puppetry, and an investigation was done in order to keep Wikipedia secure from any further disruption. The CheckUsers might have failed to underdstand or realize that it was two different people editing with the same IP address, and not just one person. For a little while now, I no longer edit from that area and have since returned to the Dominican Republic. I want to start fresh and continue editing Wikipedia since I feel I am able to edit constructively. My intentions do not contain malice. I never vandalized nor ever intend to. I am looking forward to collaborate amicably with other editors, make good contributions, and share my knowledge."
If you are unblocked, what articles do you intend to edit?
I answered, "My user page, and articles regarding topics/subjects that are of interest to me: insects, arachnids, Spanish cuisine, Spanish culture, technology, the environment, music, and television shows."
Why do you think there is a block currently affecting you? If you believe it's in error, tell us how.
And I answered, "I believe I have been falsely accused of sock puppetry. The problem was that there was a misunderstanding of the CheckUser evidence of the IP I had previously edited from. Another user happened to be socking from the same IP address. It as registered to an educational institution so there might have been several students (and possibly others) using that same IP. When the CheckUsers were doing a sock puppet investigation on the user who was creating multiple sock puppet accounts, my account got blocked as well. I then intervened, stating my reason, but did not convince neither the administrators or CheckUsers. It seems they failed to understand that it was two DIFFERENT people editing with the same IP, and not one person."
Is there anything else you would like us to consider when reviewing your block?
I've even answered that one: "I would like to emphasize that my account will be used SOLELY for improving Wikipedia, and not be used for abuse. This is my only account, which is why I am requesting an unblock. I never disobeyed any rules, never vandalized, and never caused a disruption. I want to make Wikipedia a better and more reliable place. I am just myself, trying to improve the project. Thank you very much."
After I have answered all the questions and completed reCAPCHA, I read the Privacy Police and the Terms of Use, then I clicked "Submit Appeal". However, I receive a message "There were errors processing your unblock appeal: We need to know which administrator placed your block.". So then in after all of my questions, I tried adding the admins' names that blocked me, but it still did not let me submit. I don't know what to do. I thought I have done everything required. What is wrong? Can anybody help me please? I had no choice but to make a new account (I'm really sorry I had to do this) to thoroughly state my reasons on the talk page of Elfiños (hopefully the administrators will better understand by now). I honestly did nothing wrong. I really have been falsely accused. I assume you have read my answers; my intentions are of no malice and I am a completely different person! I understand that admins want to protect Wikipedia from all sorts of vandalism, but this has gotten out of hand. I do not want to break any rules. I just feel so horrible... :( — Pedro Elfiños (talk) 05:24, 21 May 2018 (UTC)
