Someone recently made a redirect to an article you deleted Leclanché cell. This gets 33,600 hits on Google and doesn't sound like the kind of page made just to say "You bastard Wikpedia". Hello,

About the "fair use" issue with the Image:Transfair-produktauswahl.jpg image... maybe I used the wrong tag - we have secured the authorization from the copyright holder, Transfair Germany, to release rights to the picture. This was done by a German Wikipedia user - although I could do it again easily, as I work for another sister Fairtrade organization.

I chose the copyright tag because the image is used "to promote their work or product in the media, such as advertising material or a promotional photo in a press kit" (reason why they chose to release it in the public domain in the first plage).

Hi! I agree that Deep Fried Pizza is funny, but I didn't think Comedy Junk Food was really the right category for it as I got the impression that some of the other objects there were things that people have cooked for a laugh, whereas the Pizza was someone's idea of a meal and was a staple of children's lunches in Glasgow 20/30 years ago. Although the subject is not alive, the way it was written reflects poorly on the living descendants named in the article. These statements need to be sourced and the article rewritten in a more balanced manner before it is returned to the main space. There was also a question about whether the article claims notability. Width of streets in Manhattan

It was one of the scores of statements that had to be verified in the Manhattan article, so I set about doing the research. I had known for decades that Manhattan blocks were twenty per mile, and I was baffled as to why I couldn't find a source that says that. As I reworded in the article, the 200-foot blocks plus 60-foot streets are almost exactly 20 per mile, but off by a bit. There are an average of about two 100-foot streets every twenty blocks, so twenty per mile is often accurate. But this seems to be a coincidence rather than deliberate design. Image of HMV Oxford Street store

About a year ago, I tagged the discussion page of an image of an HMV store on Oxford Street in London, asking whether it was the 150 Oxford Street store or the 360 Oxford Street store. (I live in Arkansas, United States so I don't know; the best I could do is guess it was NOT the one inside Selfridges at 400 Oxford.) I was still fairly new to Wikipedia, so I didn't find your page to tell you personally. Over the ensuing year, the only "response" I got was another user seeming to "vandalize" my own user page; though I first thought he was accusing me of working for HMV at 150 Oxford, I now believe he may have been trying to tell me that the store in the image is in fact 150 Oxford.

Geograph railway station images

Hi there, I notice you've been finding numerous station images from the Geograph project, uploading them to Commons and adding them to the appropriate article here on Wikipedia. This is great but I am not sure it is appropriate in the number of cases which I've seen where you've replaced a much more up to date image in the infobox with an image from decades ago. I'd suggest that the most modern image should take priority since in many cases the station will have changed significantly so I'd ask that you move the older images out of the infobox where a more up to date image is available. Hello,

I noticed that you have listed yourself as a Wikipedian in London, so I thought you might like to come to one of our monthly social meetups. The next one is going to be on Sunday 10 August, which might well be rather short notice, but if you can't come this time, we try to have one every second Sunday of the month.

If you haven't been before, these meetups are mainly casual social events for Wikipedia enthusiasts in which we chat about Wikipedia and any other topics we fancy. It's a great way to meet some very keen Wikipedians, but we'd also love for you to come along if you're interested in finding out more about Wikipedia, other Wikimedia projects, or other collaborative wiki projects too.

The location is a pub that is quite quiet and family friendly on a Sunday lunchtime, so hopefully younger Wikipedians will also feel welcome and safe. Alcohol consumption is certainly not required!

Although the meetups are popular, many UK-based editors still don't know about them. It would be great to welcome some fresh faces, so I hope you can come along.

Thanks for the list. But you see, my main gripe with using FlickR is that most of their photos are low-res and many are out of date by at least a couple of years. I nowadays use 1600x1200 as a compromise between resolution and memory usage. I will get round to doing some of the stations south of the river in coming weeks, having been to all the Zone 6 extremities north of the river within the last seven months. That's actually one of the nicer pictures, and very recent too. If I were there I would taken shots looking up and down, taken the active up side bay, the lifted down side bay, the branded signage and the station exterior! Swinton (South Yorkshire) railway station photograph. From Tudorminstrel I have just been looking at the site and seen the photo attached with a dmu passing through the station. This is incorrect. The dmu is on a local service from Sheffield to Doncaster and is passing through Swinton Central. I presume you do not know the area, the canal to the rear of the station is the South Yorkshire Navigation and the area of land beyond that was the home of the Swinton pottery. (Just beyond that is the main road over which I rode on a trolley bus (Trackless to us up here) to school for 5 years. Any chance of moving it to the right place? Cheers.

Oxford Wikimania 2010 and Wikimedia UK v2.0 Notice

Hi,
