Your GA nomination of Presidency of George Washington
The article Presidency of George Washington you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Presidency of George Washington for comments about the article. Well done! When you submitted your idea for Wikipedia competitors, did you also create a draft of an article about "Wikipedia, Friend or Foe?" did you attend the event? I would like to use your suggestion for an article on Wikipedia competitors, right? I've not done a collaboration on this kind of topic before and so I hesitated to help out in this area of the Signpost. Best Regards, Barbara (WVS) ✐ ✉ 17:07, 24 August 2017 (UTC)
- @Barbara (WVS): I am unclear, what exactly are you asking? Do you want me to write about Wikipedia, Friend or Foe? Did you want to? Did you want to add to my piece? If you wanted to write about it in my piece or be itself, feel free too. If you want to use my piece, feel free too. It is true I wrote it, but I do not own the article. Do whatever you want to do to it or with it. Eddie891 Talk Work 00:56, 26 August 2017 (UTC)
- I am sorry, I will be as clear as I can. First, realize that contributing to the Signpost is a new activity for me. While contributing anything to Wikipedia is open to editing, I feel it is courteous to ask you first before I begin to edit something you have created. If you don't mind then I will help to finish up the article. Is your time limited so that you can't contribute as much to the Signpost as much as you would like to? - @Barbara (WVS):. Don't be sorry. It was very thoughtful of you to ask, and thank you. Events have been happening at a rapid pace in my life, and my time to contribute is nowhere near as much as I would like. Any and all help you can offer would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks. Featured content edits
Hello Eddie, I did a series of copy edits to your work on Wikipedia:Wikipedia Signpost/Next issue/Featured content. I'm dyslexic so some kinds of things stick out to me but others go right past me. I just want you to be able to evaluate my edits appropriately. I'm often wrong and am a poor grammarian and speller, but I think I can be a useful copy editor.
I also wondered what the function was of the <nowiki/> tags I saw through the text. I didn't remove them because I figure you put them there on purpose.
Also I saw in your edit where you wrote {{Ping|Bri|Montanabw|Barbara (WVS)}}. I think that probably those editors were not pinged. For the {{ping}} template to work, it must be part of an edit which includes your signature.
Finally, if you disagree with me, that's fine. Feel free to ask me for clarification or tell me I'm wrong.
Thanks for your time and keep up the good work. SchreiberBike | ⌨ 04:10, 2 September 2017 (UTC)
- @SchreiberBike: All your edits look good. Thank you for your help and tips. As to the <nowiki/>, several of them are there to stop something like '''s becoming a bold symbol. However, I can not figure out why most of them are there. Eddie891 Talk Work 11:19, 2 September 2017 (UTC)

I came across your Draft:List of United States Presidential Inaugural addresses and thought I'd let you know that the core information contained in your draft article is already included in the List of inaugural ceremonies section at United States presidential inauguration, before you put any more time & energy into "reinventing the wheel" so to speak. I have added a source which talks about the topic using more than two paragraphs and that is an independent news source (as the notability guidelines specify). I have also added several articles that mention the topic in passing.
The page for Vlassic Pickles doesn't seem to have any more notable sources (people don't tend to write lots of articles about pickle brands I guess).
Can you indicate what sort of sources would be needed for the page to considered notable?
VivaLaPandaz (talk) 20:01, 14 September 2017 (UTC)
- @VivaLaPandaz: Wikipedia:Notability (organization) states that "A company, corporation, organization, school, team, religion, group, product, or service is notable if it has been the subject of significant coverage in secondary sources. Such sources must be reliable, and independent of the subject. A single independent source is almost never sufficient for demonstrating the notability of an organization." The news coverage you have is good, but you need more similar coverage.Eddie891 Talk Work 11:59, 16 September 2017 (UTC)
Re:Hurricane Damage
No, there is no single one source for hurricane damages - there are too many variables involved for there to be one single main source - (many different nations, different time periods, ect). YE Pacific Hurricane 14:10, 21 September 2017 (UTC)

Splits
Re Lists of references to the New York Public Library in popular culture, please note the procedures outlined in Wikipedia:Splitting.
In particular:
To conform with Wikipedia's licensing requirements, which require that content contributors receive attribution, the page receiving the split material must have an edit summary noting "split content from article name". (Do not omit this step or omit the page name.) A note should also be made in the edit summary of the source article, "split content to article name". It is a requirement of Wikipedia's licensing that attribution be given to the main content author(s). The {{Copied}} template can be placed on the talk page of both articles for this purpose. For further information, refer to the main Copying within Wikipedia guideline.

Hello Eddie891...I appreciate your edits for the item I sent about Pashon Murray. I don't understand what else I can submit to get this published. There are plenty of links that show she is a real person, working in Detroit etc. I included links to the Obama White House for example, and to Martha Stewart's website. If you could help me out here, I'd really appreciate that.
Thanks.

I'm wondering why this page keeps getting denied approval. There is very little information and all of it has a reference. The movies don't have direct references as they are references themselves. If you click on the link, it has the information listed.
Thanks

Hi. Thankyou for your participation in the challenge series or/and contests. In November The Women in Red World Contest is being held to try to produce new articles for as many countries worldwide and occupations as possible. There will be over $4000 in prizes to win, including Amazon vouchers and paid subscriptions. If this would appeal to you and you think you'd be interested in contributing new articles on women during this month for your region or wherever please sign up in the participants section. The articles done may also count towards the ongoing challenge. If you're not interested in prize money yourself but are willing to participate and raise money to buy books about women for others to use, this is also fine. Help would also be appreciated in drawing up the lists of missing articles. If you think of any missing articles please add them to the sub lists by continent at Missing articles. Thankyou, and if taking part, good luck!♦ Dr. Blofeld 08:57, 5 October 2017 (UTC)

Jhargrov (talk) 15:52, 5 October 2017 (UTC)Hello, thank you for reviewing this work. As you saw, the two major references are histories that are only available in libraries.
To provide some scholarly references that can be accessed online, I have added new references 10, 16, and 18, all of which are peer-reviewed articles in the Florida Historical Quarterly. I also modified the text to accommodate the new references without changing the narrative thread too much.
Could you let me know if these changes are acceptable? I see that the article would be rejected if I resubmit it and the updates are not judged to be adequate.
Thank you, JLH

I will be very busy until October 15, and will not have time to work on Wikipedia. Do not think I am ignoring any of your comments. All comments will be read and are taken seriously. Do not worry about any combativeness when I review comments—it is a military article ;). I appreciate all peer reviews, and believe differing points of view are extremely valuable for making an article useful for all readers. TwoScars (talk) 19:05, 8 October 2017 (UTC)

I am also adding some more noteworthy sources :) Thank you!
Other 'pedias
Came across Encyclopedia of Mormonism (eom.byu.edu) and Mormonwiki.com recently, thought you might be interested for your Signpost piece. There's also at least one new company offering a vanity 'pedia, Peoplepedia.com: "If you wanted to get your own Wikipedia page but don't qualify, try Peoplepedia". Their radio ads and website offer eternal hosting whoch sounds ... iffy. Kind of reminds me of a star registry. And of course Rational Wiki which is kind of a counterpoint to Conservapedia. ☆ Bri (talk) 03:42, 12 October 2017 (UTC)

I'm confused - this article was moved to Draft:Let_Them_Eat_Cake (movie) to provide disambiguation. But the draft at that page has been stripped of formatting and references. Is this sabotage the reason it was declined? Should I edit that page with a copy of my current draft? What should I do?

Women in Red World Contest
Hi there, Eddie. I have noticed you have recently created a number of interesting articles on women. You might like to consider participating in the current Women in Red World Contest, adding the women's biographies you have created since the beginning of November. Speedy deletion nomination of Elizabeth King Ellicott
If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Elizabeth King Ellicott requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a real person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator.
