Thanks for cleaning up The Sherman and fixing up the template - I will make sure to follow your example with that. I've been looking for anyone to help out, so anything is great - particularly when its useful! Thanks again. - Freechild 13:53, 31 May 2007 (UTC)

Video

Hi there,

I put up a video of Danny Glover and Felix Justice on Danny Glover's page as it is a free video of him, something that wikipedia does not offer. I thought this might be of interest to readers as it is a performance that he loves to do and cares a lot about. But you pulled it down. It also says you pulled down other videos I posted. These are simply videos for users to understand more about the person. Yesterday another administrator pulled one I put down of Christopher Hitchens, but after review put it back up as he said it should be included.

Can you please explain?

Thank-you!—The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.50.133.66 (talkcontribs) 15:20, June 6, 2007.

A full explanation, better than I could do, is available at Wikipedia:Spam#External_link_spamming. -Ebyabe 19:44, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

But, these video links have been approved by other admins, why did you take them off if they have been approved at closer look. I know in the past this IP has been flagged as spammers, but in this case it has been approved. Please explain or reverse your action as other admins have. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 64.50.133.66 (talkcontribs) 15:57, June 6, 2007.

Just for clarity's sake, I'm not an administrator, nor is VanTucky, who worked on the Christopher Hitchens articles. We're just people who registered and got Wikipedia accounts, like anyone can do, pretty much.
When you add links from one site (especially a business) to multiple articles like you did, it's spamming behavior. Honestly, I'm surprised a bunch of folks haven't deleted the links before now. You should consider adding them to an article's talk page for discussion first. Or only adding a few a day.
The videos also appear to be promoting the agency, since they're all clients of the agency. That's fine, but not apropos for Wikipedia. It's true that Wikipedia doesn't offer ways to host videos. But the agency (I presume) owns the videos. And Wikipedia is all about fair use, which is why we don't allow links to most youtube videos.
If you want to add the links back, go ahead. I shan't add them back myself, though, as I believe I acted appropriately according to Wikipedia's guidelines regarding such things. Won't stop you, though. However, be aware that they'll likely be deleted again, simply because of the way you're adding them.
As an alternative, you could add text to an article that relates to the video, and use the video as a reference. That way they'd be relevant to the article. It would take you more time, but would demonstrate you were serious about contributing content to Wikipedia, not simply promoting the agency. Remember, Wikipedia is not a link farm. Hope this helps. -Ebyabe 20:28, 6 June 2007 (UTC)

Stub categories

Hi Ebyabe

The stub categories you mentioned have all been renamed by WP:WSS. I've posted a list on Wikipedia talk:Special:Wantedcategories. Happy editing. Valentinian T / C 16:20, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

cool, I'll help get this done over the course of the next week. Very cool.

I'm just doing it now I just created about 7 new articles with their pretty pictures - I'm doing the Kelly Slater one now ♦ Sir Blofeld ♦ "Expecting you" Contribs 20:26, 7 June 2007 (UTC)

Misplaced locator dots

I noticed the red dot on the map for Blackwood-Harwood Plantations Cemetery was in Alabama, so I adjusted the x and y coordinates by hand to make it closer to Tallahassee. Then I noticed the same error in Caroline Brevard Grammar School, so I figured something was up. I think the coordinates used to be correct, but the image on the new template is now a different size, so they all appear shifted. I'm not sure how many articles are affected or what to do about it, so I'm just alerting other people to the problem. —Keenan Pepper 00:16, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Hi, I noticed you've been reverting user 68.60.137.139's edits on Hayden Christensen for awhile. He continually reverts my cleanup work on the article as well with no explanation. Maybe article semi-protection is in order? Rito Revollto 06:53, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

I reverted to your version, but incorporated bits from the other version (without the trivial stuff). Maybe it'll work better? I was tempted to remove more of the specific stuff, like he had a role in this and a role in that, 'cause it seems kinda fancrufty to me. But I didn't. Let's see how that goes. Our anonymous fan probably won't like it, and then let's see about semi-protecting. Hope this helps! :) -Ebyabe 12:11, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Thanks, seems good to me. Rito Revollto 16:38, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

I've anonblocked 65.88.88.153 (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · filter log · WHOIS · RDNS · RBLs · http · block user · block log) for 1 week. I hesitate to block it for any longer for now because it's registered to the New York Public Library and a longer block would inevitably cause collateral damage, or Ron could probably hop onto another workstation. --  Netsnipe  ►  19:48, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

I figured as much. Just didn't want to see it be 24 hours, that's all. He had another of his "name" accounts indef blocked today (Dave eilers). The guy's like the Energizer bunny... *sigh* :) -Ebyabe 19:52, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
If you see him reappear on another NYC Library IP, I'll range block their entire network 48 hours at a time until he gets the message. All you have to do is tell me if and when he does. --  Netsnipe  ►  19:59, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
Bless you! And you didn't even sneeze. ;) I didn't even know something like that was possible. He's been a pain in a lot of people's patooties for about two months, and he shows no signs of ever stopping. It would be lovely if we could solve this once and for all, but I'd given up much hope for that. So I've developed the reporting of his vandalism into as efficient a process as I could. But having him completely stop would be soooooooo much better. Thanks again! :) -Ebyabe 20:03, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
And I know it'll be when, not if. If you knew Ronny like I knew Ronny (oh, oh, oh). ;) -Ebyabe 20:05, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
The beat goes on. He called my old user ID "Weeteenah" today. That would be funnier if he knew how to spell it. There's a subliminal message there: "cereal" vandalism. :) Baseball Bugs 23:37, 8 June 2007 (UTC)
He did? Where? -Ebyabe 23:51, 8 June 2007 (UTC)

Done! Of course he did it with a Wiki account, and not an "anonymous" computer. But as we know, he can't stop himself. Well, until next he strikes, back to this and this. :) -Ebyabe 18:47, 9 June 2007 (UTC)

Hayden Christensen

Stop Erasing Hayden Christensen Personal Life Leave It Alone And Don't Touch It —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 68.60.137.139 (talkcontribs).

To put it simply, no. To expand upon that, my edits have been made only to improve Christensen's article, in accordance with Wikipedia policies. In fact, I've incorporated several of your changes into my changes, b/c I think they're actually good. But things like He prefers to keep his personal life private (which, let's face it, most people do, except for maybe Paris) and He tends to be "linked" with co-stars are not NPOV. Plus, articles about people like Christensen must especially adhere to the standards of Biographies of living persons. I implore you to read these policies before making further edits. --Ebyabe 16:40, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Spanish Wine categories

hey, thanks for fixing those red links in the Categories box in those Spanish wine articles. It's been driving me crazy!! I'm still kinda new here so I didn't know how to fix them myself! --BodegasAmbite 08:57, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

RfA

Ah a friendly voice from afar. You know how to pick you're reading my friend. 66% support right now, most don't pass without 70% or more, even then it can be iffy. You're right though. And whatever happens happens. IvoShandor 16:42, 10 June 2007 (UTC)

Am I that far? Well, I am far-out. And groovy, too. And dating myself. But let's not go there. *lol*
More than 70%, you say? Then I'm still surprised we have any admins at all. I saw Elkman's suggestion, but I thought we could make it into a gameshow. As in, "Today, on Who Wants to be an Administrator?". Except I don't see it getting a decent enough market share to make it past 4 or 5 episodes... ;) -Ebyabe 16:47, 10 June 2007 (UTC)
Hahahaha! Yeah, that whole thing has been less than fun for me. Anyway, on a lighter and more interesting note I have been doing a lot of Frank Lloyd Wright stuff lately and Prairie School stuff in general:
Andrew O. Anderson House - Allan Miller House - Arthur Heurtley House - Frank Thomas House - Frank Lloyd Wright-Prairie School of Architecture Historic District - Edward R. Hills House - Emil Bach House - George W. Furbeck House - George W. Smith House - Horse Show Fountain - John S. Van Bergen - Mrs. Thomas H. Gale House - Peter A. Beachy House - Pettit Memorial Chapel (expanded from stub) - Pleasant Home - Robert P. Parker House - Thomas H. Gale House - Walter Gale House - William Copeland House

A lot of these are pretty decent articles, more than stubs (except for maybe one or two), John S. Van Bergen is probably close to GA right now as are a couple others. All of those have photos that I have done, but I am running out of Wright photos! Soon I will have to take another Frank Lloyd Wright adventure day, woo hoo! His house is amazing btw. Oh, you'll love this, I have begun the National Register of Historic Places nomination process for the Andrew O. Anderson House. Woot. : ) IvoShandor 17:23, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

Hey, who you callin' a ho! Word to ya mutha. :)
Ah, someone who can get the rambling references. We're like the Gilmore Girls, you and I. Which'd make me Lorelai, as I think I probably talk faster. Or wait, I guess we'd be the Gilmore Guys. I'd say I'm either Dean or Luke. Hmm. I'm tall and normally mellow, like Dean, but sometimes I can get cranky and unkempt, like Luke. Plus I'm closer to his age. So, Lean or Duke. I know, Lean Duke!
Which'd make you Jess, obviously, you being the bad-ass wiseguy and all. Or maybe Logan. Unless you wanna be Kirk or Michel. Nah, didn't think so. *hehe* -Ebyabe 18:31, 11 June 2007 (UTC)
Seriously, I am sitting here laughing my ass off. Hahahahahaha! IvoShandor 18:42, 11 June 2007 (UTC)

I found the book. He talks about his troubles trying to extract teeth. Sufficient to make you cringe a bit and be glad (for the sake of others) that he never took up dentistry. It also elaborates on his nickname a bit. It was partly from K.C. and partly from Casey of Casey at the Bat, due to Stengel racking up a few too many "K's", see? d:) Baseball Bugs 23:52, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

Streisand

Why did you take out Streisand's pro-choice category. It's a fact (and in my mind, a reputable one). Bellagio99 21:37, 17 June 2007 (UTC)

I'm removing various red-linked categories from pages, and that was one. Categories that don't exist shouldn't really be added to articles, that's all. Though I have a feeling that even if it were created, it'd be deleted, b/c it would probably be seen as "controversial" or "POV". At least that's the way things seem to run at CFD -Ebyabe 22:17, 17 June 2007 (UTC)
I understand. Altho I'd be inclined to keep it as a fact, just like Republican or Democratic party affiliation (if relevant) is a fact in your country. Cheers, Bellagio99 12:43, 18 June 2007 (UTC))

Infobox Commercial ship

Hello Ebyabe. Since you created this template is has been used on some articles I have seen, but the naval ship templates also continue to be used. Possibly it is because your new template is not listed at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Ships/Tables. Do you think your template should be added there? Kablammo 05:38, 18 June 2007 (UTC)

Ron Liebman sock?

Is Cjamieson (talk · contribs) a sock? I'm not familiar with the case, but the edit pattern looks the same. --Wafulz 15:20, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Definitely has the Ron liebman flavor, except for the user name. Can a checkuser be done, maybe? I like to see the liebman socks slapped down asap, but don't want to overreact. But then, unsourced edits are unsourced edits, doncha know. :) -Ebyabe 15:22, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
It has some crossover, for sure, except it seems to be mostly focused on stats rather than on birthdates. But a checkuser is definitely in order. And it's hard to tell how many of the dozens of pages he's worked on are private-research POV-pushing, as the Mantle 1961 item is. Baseball Bugs 15:47, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
But he is a stat nut too, since he messes with baseball streaks and such. Hopefully we can tell from a checkuser. I revereted the Willie Mays edits, as they were only vaguely sourced anyway. And you know Ron, he needs a little provocation before to make him wig out. We'll see how things go... -Ebyabe 15:57, 30 May 2007 (UTC)
Confirmed sock. I think I reverted everything. --Wafulz 18:38, 30 May 2007 (UTC)

Good-o. I think it's worth a shot. :) -Ebyabe 18:47, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
I can think of at least three possible outcomes. We'll see. :) Baseball Bugs 18:49, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

I thought this one had been blocked, but apparently not: [2] Baseball Bugs 18:54, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Just reported it. Should go the way of all the others shortly. :) -Ebyabe 18:57, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Ronnie is Hotrodharry???

Oh dear, a new sockpuppet maybe? If so, his grasp of geography is as good as the one he has on baseball! *lol* -Ebyabe 19:10, 21 June 2007 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for Image:Voodooacademy.jpg

Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Voodooacademy.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use. Suggestions on how to do so can be found here.

Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. ShakespeareFan00 18:56, 22 June 2007 (UTC)

List of australian penal colonies

I am somewhat confused by the architecture tag on the talk page of the above - you might not wish to see my irreverent comments there. Its all a bit dead parrot stuff to me SatuSuro 12:30, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Ron Liebman

I got an e-mail back from him. He's the guy. He wants to be reinstated. He also said a lot of the recent edits by red-links and IP addresses are copycats. I explained in some detail that he needs to provide documentary evidence, along with some suggestions on how to do it. I said if he promises to do that, I will see what I can do about getting him reinstated. Baseball Bugs 00:40, 24 June 2007 (UTC)

Well, so much for that brilliant idea, b/c he (or his evil twin?) is at it again. Or this guy is a coincidence. Which I rather doubt. Sometimes ya just can't win for losing. *sigh* --Ebyabe 16:44, 25 June 2007 (UTC)
I don't think he liked my answer; namely, that he needed to provide documentation rather than expecting us to take his word for it. He has not answered my message, and it has been several days now. Baseball Bugs 17:41, 25 June 2007 (UTC)

Marc-Edouard Nabe

He is best known as a writer. Can you please change the stub category?Zigzig20s 06:49, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

NRHP Bulk Stubbing

I noticed you were the creater of the NRHP wikiproject, I was wondering if you considered bulk stubbing the entries with infoboxes and other info since there seems to be a ton of missing articles from the register? I downloaded the database and have been playing around with it some, I could probably put the pieces together, but I'm semi new to wikipedia, so I'm not sure how this type of thing is viewed. pw 16:28, 28 June 2007 (UTC)

Hey! What, exactly, do you mean by bulk stubbing? I think I know what you mean, but I wanna make sure before saying OK. OK? :) -Ebyabe 16:52, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
By bulk stubbing I am talking about creating stubs for the registered places in the database that do not yet have stubs or at least something similar, but automated / with a program or bot. I think first step is to identify ones with stubs or articles and get some info on what's missing from wiki that exists in the registered database. pw 17:02, 28 June 2007 (UTC)
