Nothing new from Liebman
It has now been over 2 weeks since he said he would get back in a week. I'm not holding my breath. However, the bogus edits have also pretty well stopped. Baseball Bugs
- Actually, there was one or two a couple of days ago that were Liebman-esque (at least the username was), but they didn't seem too bad, so let them be. I can't remember what the name was but they were on one of the biggies (like DiMaggio). But it's died down considerably. Maybe the range blocks helped. And that it's finally getting thru the dense cranium that the unsourced changes will always get reverted. No wait, that would imply common sense. Well, we'll keep our eyes open and fingers crossed, eh? :) -Ebyabe 12:42, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
- This is the one I was talking about, Special:Contributions/Herb_gecht. See what y'all think. :) --Ebyabe 23:39, 23 July 2007 (UTC)
Orphaned non-free image (Image:Casperkillshot.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Casperkillshot.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Babel "0" level userboxes not considered useful?
Really? I'm using three or four of them myself. How did this come about? -- Rob C. alias Alarob 00:09, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- I've been going thru Special:Wantedcategories, which is how I ran across them. All the cases I've found have been deleted, and are redlinked. Where are you using them? I don't see 'em on your user page. -Ebyabe 00:13, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- I did create the other categories, based on the ones for California English. -Ebyabe 00:14, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- See User:UBX/Userboxes/Non-ISO Languages to see one example. I think the idea is that saying you don't know a language has no use to Wikipedia. It's not the userbox so much as the category that's not considered useful. I mean, if you want something translated from French, you're not going to think, "Let me start by looking for people that don't speak French at all." Humor value, yes. Practical value, nil. Or so the logic seems to run. Hope my extemporizing helped. :) -Ebyabe 00:24, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, "humor value" is plain, and is prob. the main reason for most non-ISO userboxes. On my own subpage User:Alarob/languages, I have some "0" level ISO (i.e., "real") language boxes that indicate that I have spent some time studying a language, but have not attained even rudimentary proficiency (Arabic, for instance). It only has value from the "getting to know you" side, which is the point of perhaps a majority of userboxes. In the case of the non-ISO boxes, I could see someone who lived in, say, San Diego, using a "0" box for California English to indicate that they don't talk like a valley girl. Trivial, I grant you. But I'd suggest basing the decision on whether or not anyone is linking to them. So having said all that, if no one's linking to ap-en-0, I have no complaint with -- well, were you planning to delete it? -- Rob C. alias Alarob 14:35, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- My only concern is the categories, and did just enough to get them off Special:Wantedcategories, based on what's been done with similar stuff. I'm not an admin or anything, so I've done what all I can. Even if I were, I wouldn't delete userboxes. Heck, I've created a few myself. Moving onwards now, doncha know. :) -Ebyabe 15:17, 24 July 2007 (UTC)
- Mathematically speaking, if you know even one word of Arabic (and everyone knows a few nowadays), you can't say you're at 0 level. You could say < 1, though. :) Baseball Bugs 17:21, 24 July 2007 (UTC)

s/Theocracy/Theocracies/
Hi. I noticed the category rename. While it makes sense for many of the pages, the Chalcedon Foundation is definitely not a theocracy, but is pro-theocracy for some definitions of theocracy (ie. that politicians should follow the Bible, but, IIRC, not that the state should actually be ruled by the church). Anyway, I was wondering what your thoughts were as to what should be done about it, since you're presumably more familiar with the reasons for the category rename than I am.
-- TimNelson 14:33, 25 July 2007 (UTC)
- It was part of one of my side projects, reducing the Special:Wantedcategories backlog. There was no Category:Theocracy, so I replaced it with an existing category, Category:Theocracies. It sounds like maybe the category should be removed altogether? Doesn't matter to me one way or the other; I don't watch the articles like that which I "fix". Otherwise my watchlist would be insanely longer than it already is. So whatever you do, I won't know. As long as another redlink category isn't created... :) -Ebyabe 15:51, 25 July 2007 (UTC)

Been awhile. How have you been? Thought I would just tell you I got my first featured article, Rock Springs massacre was promoted yesterday. : ) Thanks for the bits you contributed (I think you looked it over a couple times). IvoShandor 13:30, 31 July 2007 (UTC)
AutoWikiBrowser Edits
Hey there,
I have seen that you use Wikipedia:AutoWikiBrowser to perform edits. My understanding during the past 3 years that I participate in Wikipedia is that when using AutoWikiBrowser, one should take extra care to make sure that one actually understands what kind of change one is going to perform, and not change the meaning of a text.
Since the last weeks I have observed that you performed e.g. category changes with AWB - in some cases to a category that may sound similar to somebody who is not familiar with the topic, but which are actually not at all identical. In case these categories work as descriptors for living people, this kind of misinformation may reach a certain level of inconvenience.
So far I have solved the problem simply by doing a revert - no harm taken, we all make a mistake from time to time. And I also left a note about it in the history - exactly why I did the revert, and how the categories differ.
But further observation leads me to the conclusion that by the way you use AWB, you do not see the message in the history, but simply perform the (wrong) category change over and over again - with the speed and power of an automated tool.
That is why I leave you this message.
Thanks a lot. 62.178.12.228 22:50, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
Dunnellon Depot
Here's that train station I mentioned on the Dunnellon Boomtown Historic District article talk page nearly two months ago.
---- DanTD 23:17, 2 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry it was originally so big. I just framed it in an attempt to fit it on your screen. ---- DanTD 00:22, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
- That's ok. I don't remember seeing that building in my perambulations of the district. Good pic, though. From your description in the picture, you're right, it's iffy whether it's in the historic district. But most district boundaries are a bit fuzzy, so it might qualify. :) -Ebyabe 15:36, 3 August 2007 (UTC)
Just wondering what exactly you think fits in here? We have Category:Furness, and it seems that there isn't much point in having them both. J Milburn 11:45, 9 August 2007 (UTC)

My sandbox
How did you find my sandbox project for Florida? (You just fixed a link there...) Horologium t-c 15:57, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- The magic of AWB, my friend. I was fixing redirects for Castillo de San Marcos National Monument, and ran across yours as one of them. Hope it's OK; it's my compulsive need to fix things. ;) -Ebyabe 16:02, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- No, no problem at all, and I completely understand the OCD ref (side effect of having a therapist parent). I am (very slowly) working on a slimmed-down version of the enormous, inert mass of the current Florida article, which is way too big to be useful, and filled with lame and trivial silliness. Ordinarily, I'd look to the WikiProject for help, but it appears to be as active as Newnansville, Florida... Horologium t-c 16:11, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, the WikiProject is pretty well inactive, it seems. I think folks like you and me are doing the Florida stuff, just not thru the project. Oh, well. And hey, don't be talkin' smack about Newnansville! :) It is a ghost town, as I found when I visited. All the pics in the article are ones I took, as part of my mad get-pics-of-every-Registered-Historic-Place-in-Florida campaign. Which I keep track of here, doncha know. I may have mentioned it before, but just in case. Happy editing, and all that. :) -Ebyabe 16:18, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- Well, I hooked you up with a pair of NRHP sites in Sebring—Harder Hall and Kenilworth Lodge, to which I added photos yesterday. I also took pictures of the train station, courthouse, and fire station, but the existing pics were better. I also took a couple of pics of Sebring Circle (the downtown Historic District), but they don't really add much context. (They all look like a park, because the circle essentially is a park.) :\ (I know Newnansville is a ghost town, and your contributions to the article, which is why I chose it as my example to the dusty, decaying nature of the WikiProject.) - I suspected as much, regarding Newnansville. :) It's actually one of the few of the Registered Historics that I did more than stub, partly b/c it's close to where I used to work up there. Thanks for the Sebring stuff! It's been on the list for my long delayed down-US-27-around-Lake-Okeechobee-and-up-US-1 trip. A few more to cross off the list. :) -Ebyabe 17:21, 15 August 2007 (UTC)
- I have family in Sebring, and I head down there a couple times a year to visit. I'll have a list of what needs pics the next time I go down there, so I might be able to save you the trip. (I can probably coerce my relatives to drive me around through the Florida Heartland region for pics.) My next trip will probably be over the thanksgiving weekend. Your AIV report
Thank you for making a report about Darkgiff 509 (talk · contribs · block log) at Wikipedia:Administrator intervention against vandalism. Reporting and removing vandalism is vital to the functioning of Wikipedia and all users are encouraged to revert, warn, and report vandalism. However, administrators generally only block users if they have received a recent final warning (one that mentions that the user may be blocked) and they have recently vandalized after that warning was given. The reported user has not yet been blocked because it appears this has not occurred yet. If this user continues to vandalize after their final warning, please report them to the AIV noticeboard again. Thank you. Sandstein 18:56, 16 August 2007 (UTC)
Another Liebman sock
He's getting a little more active again. [1] Baseball Bugs 18:11, 4 August 2007 (UTC)
- This stuff is getting annoying. I've just sent Liebman a rather pointed e-mail telling him to stop it. I don't necessarily expect an answer, since he apparently thinks we should just take his word for everything. Formally turning him in to the folks who run SABR would be the last resort. I hope it won't come to that. Baseball Bugs 15:36, 14 August 2007 (UTC)
I've reported KrazyChicken through WP:CHECKUSER with diffs from Rizzuto's article. Rklawton 15:45, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. I know it'll prove it's him. He always uses the same turns of phrase and dwells on the same tedious facts, to the exclusion of all contrary evidence. As can be seen from another recent blocked identity. *sigh* -Ebyabe 15:49, 18 August 2007 (UTC)
U.S. Roads Assessment Categories
Was there a reason that you the Disambiguation, Template, and Category classes to the WP:USRD assessment? We really didn't see the need for them. (there's no need to pull them now that they're already there, I'm just curious as to the rationale, thanks) master sonT - C 22:35, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
- I was working on clearing the Special:Wantedcategories backlog, and Category:Category-Class U.S. road transport articles was one of the ones on it. After creating it, I figured, why not create the others? I just think that having the separate categories helps to keep track of things better, rather than have them lumped into a non-article category. Basically, it's the OCD in me. Which is why Wikipedia is the perfect hobby. :) -Ebyabe 22:50, 17 August 2007 (UTC)
You changed this to a list in the project banner. Just to let you know, this is a redirect and as such is not a list and so i have classified it as NA. Thanks Woodym555 18:11, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- On a related note your edit to the {{tl:football}} template has left a large gap underneath the banner as visible on the List of Aston Villa captains page. Perhaps a rogue space? I think the category is useful so haven't reverted it but would like it to be fixed. Thanks Woodym555 18:28, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry about the first. As regards the space, though, it apparently wasn't me. I reverted back to before my changes, and it's still there. I created a copy of the template in one of my sandboxes, and played around with it, and I can't for the life of me figure what's causing that big gap. :( -Ebyabe 19:08, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks for trying, as i found out when i requested help on the WP:FOOTY page, you are not the first. Hopefully someone will know how to fix it!! Woodym555 19:10, 19 August 2007 (UTC)
- You're welcome. That is the weirdest thing too. Hopefully greater minds will be able to correct it. I've also added back that cat/category parameter to the football template, since it's unrelated to the gap issue. At least something productive will come out of this. ;) -Ebyabe 19:16, 19 August 2007 (UTC)

On your photolist of NRHP sites in Brooksville, Florida you mentioned soms doubts about Florida Heritage.com's coverage of the William Sherman Jennings House;
William Sherman Jennings House - images added - doublecheck picture on flheritage.com, doesn't match, sounds like house was moved and became part of the Christmas Village store
I just came from that area this afternoon, and I can tell you for a fact that they didn't do this. I even took a couple of pictures of the house in question with my disposable digital camera, and when I get them all developed, I'll send those(and some others) to you. ---- DanTD 22:55, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
- Hm, I think I must have been confused when I wrote that. I looked again at the pictures I took and the one on flheritage, and they do appear to match. It's just the angle at which the flheritage pic is at. I may have been mixing it with the Saxon House, which has no signage or anything, and was a guess based on the address listed on the Register and where it was. Comparing pics, that was right too. If you took more pics, though, do please upload them to WikiCommons and add to the bounty! :)
- And funny you should write me, as I was meaning to drop you a note. Today's Ocala Star Banner had an article about the Dunnellon Railroad Depot, confirming it is in the historic district. The article is here, if you'd care to peruse it. :) -Ebyabe 23:47, 20 August 2007 (UTC)
NHL all the states
Tickle, tickle. (SEWilco 16:02, 21 August 2007 (UTC))
State Parks
I am stealing from List of Pennsylvania state parks, for MN parks so "borrow" away. :) I got lucky in that MN only has 72 parks, FL has 156, Ugh! The map alone took me a few hours, but it really adds shine. My one tip would be to do as much as possible with a spread sheet. I might try to add pics, but dang its a lot of work and it makes the lists big, see List of Minnesota amphibians as an example of what I have tried. -Ravedave 02:59, 22 August 2007 (UTC)
- If you're working on Pennsylvania state parks, you might like to know that many parks can be identified in the USGS named places list [2] by having "Park" in one column and the name of the state in another column ("PA"), and probably have "State Park" in the name. I used 'grep' to filter out most state parks from the thousands of parks in MN. Geographic coordinates are given in two formats. (SEWilco 16:42, 22 August 2007 (UTC))
Ship template
Hello. There is a discussion going on at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Ships#Infobox_improvements regarding changes to ship infoboxes and their adaption to varied types of merchant ships, tonnage and displacement, and other fields to include in an infobox. (This appears to be different from, but similar to, the template which you created, which has been used on many articles.) If you choose, please weigh in with your thoughts on the project talk page linked above. Kablammo 19:53, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Hey hey
Was wondering, do you or someone you know around here know how to add the importance parameter to a template? If you do can you or someone add it to Template:WikiProject Illinois, please? Thanks man. IvoShandor 03:20, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Done, and categories created as well. Good luck, there's over 3,700 articles now with unassessed importance. So you wanted something to do? ;) -Ebyabe 14:36, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks senor, very much appreciated. Yeah, guess I got a bit to do now. Did you see Rock Springs massacre got featured? I was pretty psyched. IvoShandor 23:37, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Welcome. I saw and huzzah, and again huzzah! :) I saw you may be reducing your WikiTime a bit, which I can unnerstand. Pace yourself, and all that, dude. :) As opposed to me, who, having seen the work being done on this have been possessed to work on this. Are you of the body? :) -Ebyabe 23:44, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Yeah, the wikistress was piling on man. I guess it really goes back to June and my RfA but everything that has happened since then has really frustrated me. Plus, I haven't had the time or money to go on a historical photo tour, which I do enjoy so much. I haven't written any articles lately, I guess it has been almost a week now. Mostly sticking to minor edits and a few discussions, just trying to relax a bit ya know? I have done a bit of work on Illinois state parks, we still have a ton to go, but it is getting there. If you need any help with the small stuff let me know. IvoShandor 23:49, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- Dude, the photo trips are one of the few things that have helped keep me sane. I've planed off a bit of late, for this is the really sweltering time of year. But September 8th is tempting me to really get out and about, b/c of this. Pays to read, doncha know. Maybe y'all's park system has something similar? Worth checking, 'cause you can't beat free. :) -Ebyabe 23:57, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
- All of our state parks have no admission fees. The state gouges us elsewhere, taxes mostly, really, really high taxes. So high, that when you come in from Indiana you will see signs along the Interstate to the tune of "Last exit before high taxes." Haha. IvoShandor 00:03, 28 August 2007 (UTC)

As you must've seen in the original article's history, I redirected your article on the Louisville and Nashville Depot to a new one called Louisville and Nashville Depot (Milton, Florida). I hope you're not mad about this, but it was something I felt I had to do, since those looking on the List of Registered Historic Places in Illinois previously could click on that by mistake. ---- DanTD 03:12, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
- Mad? Good gravy, not at all! :) I created the Florida NRHP stubs before I was really aware of the multiple name problem with some of them. I'm actually glad another one's been fixed, doncha know. :) --Ebyabe 13:47, 29 August 2007 (UTC)
La Casa de Josefina
Hey, no problem with the edits. I'm not really well versed in wiki so I need someone to keep me in line. I'll see if I can't get some pictures of La Casa. I don't know the actual street number there but it's on Highland Park Dr., Lake Wales, FL 33898. If you go to Highland Park you can't miss it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by LightningLoader (talk • contribs) 12:23, August 29, 2007 (UTC)
- Terrif! One of these days I am going to get down there and take bunches of pics of each NRHP site in the area, but until then, even one pic of any of the places would be better than the map. That's my goal, to not have any maps in the Florida NRHP infoboxes, just pics of the site. It's a dream I have... :) -Ebyabe 13:50, 29 August 2007 (UTC)

The guy's M.O. is so obvious it stands up and shouts. This has been going on since January. I don't know what it's going to take to stop this guy. Anyway, thanks for helping out. He was kind of quiet for awhile, but he really picked it up this past week or so. Probably on Labor Day holiday week. Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 00:48, 7 September 2007 (UTC)

forbidden pictures
Hi Ebyabe,
I'm a french user who try some time to contribute a little bit to the english Wikipedia (as much as I can with my bad english level), and I would like to undersand something about these WP's laws : why a picture could be exist in an article but not in an other one ? Did the "fair use" be only forbidden in actor's article ?
Thank for your attention,
SoLune 14:47, 8 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hey! It's kinda tricky. The picture that was in the article was of Ritchson as Aquaman. That would be appropriate for an article about Aquaman. But for an actor's page, it has to be of the actor not playing any part, but as themself. It took me a while to figure out, and I've had pics that I uploaded in the past deleted for those reasons. That's why I don't bother adding celebrity pics anymore, as it's usually more hassle than it's worth. I just upload pics I take myself of historic buildings and such now. Since I take the pics, there's no problem. Hope this helps explain the bizarrity. -Ebyabe 00:40, 9 September 2007 (UTC)
Thank you...
...for reverting my user page, after the ironic replacement of it with a claim that *I* have no manners. Getting vandalized, finally, almost feels like a status symbol. :) Baseball Bugs What's up, Doc? 01:20, 10 September 2007 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for Image:GhostShipNovella.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:GhostShipNovella.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. —Angr 13:38, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
RE: Don Drysdale
I can't see what edits you and Chadsplace have made to Don Drysdale....something wrong with my eyes?
WikiDon 20:07, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- No, probably mine. He's a sockpuppet of banned user Ron liebman, and his edits are to be reverted on sight. But that one, yeah, it's gotten confusing, even to me. Lemme see if I can correct it to something reasonable. -Ebyabe 20:11, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
- There, that should do it. I hadn't seen that the anonymous IP he was also using had made edits too. That should do it. If he makes further "edits", I won't change them today, b/c of 3RR (even though it's vandalism). I've reported Chadsplace so he can hopefully be blocked like all of Ron's other socks. Now, back to doing something productive! :) -Ebyabe 20:16, 15 September 2007 (UTC)
