Hi Earl! How is your "wiki-curling-business"? ;) Mine one (at Ru-Wiki) - is "little hard": I'm trying to add to Wiki and systematize Russian champs and cups... and information on site of Ru-Federation is hard finding and sometimes incomplete: for example, results of robin round exists, rezult of 1/4-finales and semi exists... but what about finale and 3rd place?? "team ... win, team ... lose" - and it's all :(( rrrrrrr...).

Ho-ho!! Now I'm curler too!! :))) (very-very novice of course...) Yesterday I went with one of my friend (he's young guy, but very clever) to "free curling training" in our Ekaterinburg EXPO-center (they have two hockey boxes and one curling rink; curlers-volunteers organized such lessons for everyone, zero-cost, for "advertising") - outside of city border, "in taiga" :) And I throwed my first stone! :) Not far - only to first hogline :) and after that I fell down to ice "like a sack of potatoes" :)) But it was only first lesson - and I want to continue of course! So (after year or two or more) afraid me, Kevin Koe! )))

Hi Alexey! Good to hear from you again. Keep up the good work! While I barely remember my first time curling (was 19 years ago!), I have got my 6 year old daughter started this year, and she can relate to falling like a sack of potatoes. Ha-ha! We two - me and your daughter - make first steps. And because I can't hope to be "new Kevin Koe" - I wish her my very best regards! )) Curling "little society" in our Ekaterinburg will try to organize this year little "championsnip" (for amateurs mainly) and to make simple "webcam" video-translation from it on Youtube (and I have good chance to "blablabla" on this "TV" like Russ Howard :)) ). By the way - my daughter Maria (she is "old", 22) looked at my curling photos, watch some matches (live from Pacific-Asian too) and say: "Why not? I have the same face like Korean women's skip Kim Eun-jung (and this is true! look at photo ) - and I'll try to beat you, dad, in curling!" (an she will go with me to training next time). Hi Earl (and little "Rachel Homan" of course!). Yeasterday was second my "curling lesson" - and... This is the FIRST stone that I throwed directly to home! Without any swipping! Only throw to "anywhere" - and that is done! I'm great! I'm Bred Gushu! :)) Look at proudly me and stone - here. No "photoshop"! )) About "small world": yes, exactly more than... Year ago there was Ural Industrial Biennale of Contemporary Art in Ekaterinburg. Lot of "important modern art people" from the whole world - Germany, USA, Brazil, China, Australia... So I talk with one woman from Australia (she's painter, art-"producer" and art-writer), about many interesting things (how it's in Australia and how it's in Russia); and she said (we talk about different "strange people" who knows she or me in our countries): "And I know one old great Australian curling man - Hugh Millikin. We are good friends. Do you know him? He is big boss in curling world..." I said "No" - because I didn't know so many "elementary" things about curling those days year ago... Cool photo! Your curling facility looks so much different than ours. Is it hockey ice? As for Hugh Millikin, I sort of have a connection too (not really). He won the Canadian Mixed Curling Championship before moving to Australia, and his banner is at the Navy Curling Club, which is one of many clubs in this city, and one I've played tournaments in a few times. Also, I've seen him practicing before, as Earle Morris used to also coach the Australian team, and I remember them practicing at the same time as me! No, this is special curling rink near two ice hockey boxes (one of them you can see on left side of photo). It frozes with clean water - not like "dirty water" for ice hockey. Icemaker (as coach said) had a lessons from best icemaker in Russia (and this man had lessons in Canada) - so it's not primitive "piece of ice on the backyard". )) On Saturday 19 November European Champ will started - will you see it? It's very interesting for me - at "womens part" - because Russia sends to Euro new women team, "Team Moiseeva" (they beated "Team Sidorova" in Russian SuperCup 2016 for "ticket to Euro" - to represent country like "Team Russia"). They never was "team Russia" on "big champs" (Moiseeva was alternate on 2015 Winter Universiade and played with Petr Dron on 2015 World Mixed Doubles Curling Championship, losed in quarterfinals). So they are "pure novices" at this "mid-top level", but they are very strong - and this adds my interest for "Euro without everytime Sidorova". :)) If you need it - there is little article in ru-Wiki about Moiseeva (and articles about other girls of team; I made it some weeks ago, when we knew about "new Team Russia") and I can try to make "stubs" to en-Wiki, why not? -- Alexey Gustow (talk) 02:09, 15 November 2016 (UTC)

It's only little stub ;) Her name - "standard western" name only. Or english-spoken people writes "Queen Viktorya" or "Victoriia Beckham"? :)) It's strange for me - why someone in WCF database and WCT database wrote her name so "exotic" styles (maybe they thought "she's crazy Russian"?). ;)) OK, I'll add stubs about her teammates (they are yonger and less "great champions" than she). About curler Peter Annis

Hi Earl ! Merry Xmas & Happy NY (not New York :) )!

Last days I began to make in Ru-Wiki a category "Participants of Continental Cup of Curling" (look at ru:Категория:Участники розыгрышей Континентального Кубка по кёрлингу) - because such group of persons (players & coaches & captains & others curling-related) has an interest like "elite of world curling for this moment" (for example, January 2017). What you can say about such idea? Right now this category has 135 pages (CCC 2009-2017, and I began 2008). This is why we (me and you) had "edition conflict" on page Rich Ruohonen some minutes ago (I added WCF & WCT profiles and saved - but didn't write "{{subst:L}}" for "protection against enemies" :) And after 5 min tea-break I began to add "Infobox curler" and little more info for "little-little good looking view". It was a hard work.... because not right now I could find "date of birth" (hmmmmm), only on Curlingzone (good info source I think! like WCT+WCF at one place ;) ). And when I tried to save... oops! "someone made changes..." So I "merged" Infobox (and little more - "private" and other) to your edition. Look at.

Like a "bonus" I added WCF, WCT and Sports-Reference profiles (to Russian articles - and to English ones if they aren't exists). Sometimes it was a hard work too )) but Deutch and Poland wikis sometimes gave me help (and sometimes not) ;) So we all have common profits from such my "stream revision" I hope :)

But my "main theme" is another. Look at Peter Annis - maybe this man isn't a USA curler? Links to him are from 2008 World Men's Curling Championship and other places (and from 2008 Continental Cup of Curling - this is the reason of my interest to him).

How are your "one more Rachel Homan"? I cheers for her beforehand: HARRRRRD!!!! Dah-dah-dah-dah-dah!!!! (on Russian - how our girls shouts - "Yes-yes-yes-yes-yeees!!!") :)

And - what you can say about new Russian women's team (skip Victoria Moiseeva)? They won Euro-2016 (it was shock for all - because it was the first "big" event for they like "one team"; we - and Russian Curling Federation - hoped that they can comes to playoffs and will be 4th: good result for novices!). And - it's important - they played confidently, "like veterans of many Euros & Worlds". Few days ago they played (good I think) on Bernese Ladies (4th - good result in such "warriors" company in playoff like Terenzoni, Wang & Pätz; Moiseeva has world rank 45th - and they're 3rd, 9th and 30 for "year to date"). And now we're waiting "thermonuclear Supercup" (for berth to Worlds like "Team Russia") - Sidorova vs Moiseeva (it will be at mid-February, after Universiade-2017 - Moiseeva will come to U like "Russia"), as "best in 7 games" (4 wins to win). I think this SuperCup will be super-interesting "war" for last 5 or 6 years in women's curling "inside Russia" :))) But we don't know about TV-or-Youtube coverage from it - will it "to be or not to be"? And we all cried to Ru-Federation "pleeeeease!!!" :))))

That's an interesting idea creating a category for Continental Cup participants, but not one I have much time to implement (be my guest if you want to do it!). I noticed your edits on the 2008 World Championships and decided to expand the Rich Ruohonen article. Oops! Sorry for the conflict. OK, when I'll ended my category (ru-Wiki has only part of articles about CC participants, less then en-Wiki of course) I'll start en-category. Right now I created it (look at Category:Continental Cup of Curling participants) and added to it 2 NA teams and 2 World teams from CCC 2017. Oh, I forget about two other themes... Nothing bad with "editors conflict" ;) It's only my mistake (didn't write "subst:L"). But - "any action is good that has a good end" (like Russins laughs). About "Russian STOH" (and "Russian Brier") - that championships are held on March or April. But "Sidorova vs Moiseeva" will be a "battle for only two teams" (prize - berth to WWCC 2017; it like "trials", but only for 2 teams), series of max. 7 games and "who first wins 4 - takes it all". OK, I'll send you messages about "what goes on at battle field" ;) About Peter Annis - maybe link "Peter Annis (curler)" will help? Well - Mr. Annis looks good now ;) About Russian playdowns - I'll try if I'll have time and a wish to do it (anytime it's very hard to find whole info about event - lineups, all scores etc.; anytime someone other from Ru-editors created it - and in other standard than I think "how it must be"; it's much more harder work than to translate from En-Wiki - and I'm trying now "to fill red holes" about "world known" curlers & events as minimum) - but I'll try (I wondered that two best sites about Russian curling - non-official curlingrussia.com and official site of Russian Federation curling.ru - haven't English version yet :( ). Well news - now there are 99 persons in Category:Continental Cup of Curling participants (no all of course!). It was not so hard as I thought. And "bonus track": when I add cat about CCC to player's en-articles I looking for "is WCF, WCF, SR (if needed) profiles exists?" (if needed - add it from Ru or something other, sometimes simple googling). One more idea (I hope it'll useful) by me. I just used it in some of my Ru-wiki curling related articles (for example, about 2012 Tim Hortons Brier or Ed Lukowich). Idea is: to make references (or points to "External links" if it's article about curler) to Youtube videos of full games (or other). (or alternatively, without such reference: if you interested about to look it - you want to go to Youtube or to Google and try to find something like it through the "giga" numbers of links to videos or other "garbage"? personally me - no, and I'll say "Great thanks, buddy!" to author of such useful - for me like curling fun - information). Maybe I don't understand you exactly (my Eng is "not the best" ;) )... Your "I have no problem having them on the player articles themselves" means "I can add small player window (with link to Youtube video) inside the body of article" or "I can (by some "trick") goes to watch video directly from article"? Explain "more primitive" for "wild Russian from tayga" ;)
And about "would be best on the Brier/Scotties/etc articles" - yes, my first thought (month or two ago) was "why I must googling in Youtube about 2000 Brier final - but NOT comes to it directly from article? I have much more time for such "stupid" work? or any other - if he/she interested of that - they haven't time to waste too I think... and why I don't help them all if I can do it easy and quickly?". 15 minutes ago I made little "partizan work" - and now there is all full game videos links in article "2017 Continental Cup of Curling" (and as a "bonus" is - in "External links" - highlight with "victory rock" - for N.A. team win in all 2017 WFG CCC - by Reid Carruthers). It's "additionally useful" in this case - because there's no separate playlist in "Curling Canada" Youtube channel for 2017 CCC (and someone who wants to watch some game from this event, must find in all "Videos" in "Curling Canada" - it will be "hard work" to find it even a year later for today and many more harder 5 years later I think). What you say? Maybe not needed to use bold for substring "Video" in References or External links? I used it for "better viewing" for reader (it can "hide" when there is many other references) - but I'm interest about your opinion (like "someone who never viewed this article before today")...

In Ru-Wiki I asked some "Wiki-veterans" - they said: "It's good link to good information source about real events in the past". Template "Brier"

Ha-ha! Once more about "lazy people".
Several months (or maybe year ago) I created in Ru-Wiki template "Brier" (for creating links to any Briers, let's add a year only or - if needed - any text). It's very useful for me, "very lazy" as I said. ;) And today I thought: "Why I can't to translate it to En-Wiki? It's easy and will be useful for En-guys. Hmmm... wait a minute... but in En-Wiki Canadian Men's (and Women's) Championships has different "title sponsor" names in different years... Well, OK - it's not a "hard problem", give me "5 minute break" like in curling match... And - oops! - I made it (20 minutes work without "tea breaks in Russian deep night"). It automatically compiled correct link ("... Nokia Brier", "... Tim Hortons Brier" etc.) for different years (a gift to "lazy people" :-) ). At first I made it in my user subpage of course - and only when it start works correctly I copypasted it to "public space". Look at it - {{Brier}}. What you'll say? I tested it by editing article "Ian Tetley" (look at "medale box") - it works correct as I can see (with "year" or without it). Try it if you want. (and there's no needs to "try & buy" :-) )
"Next stop" - similar template "STOH" (I created it in Ru-Wiki even earlier than "Brier"). And "next-next" - templates "WMCC" (World Men's Championship) and "WWCC" (World Women's) - I have they in Ru-Wiki too.

Template "STOH"

That's it! :-) Look at {{STOH}}. It's similar like {{Brier}}. Working time (because I have "Brier" in En-Wiki yet) are 7 minutes only. I tested it on Jenn Hanna and Anne Merklinger - it works correct as I can see. But test it "more harder" (if you want of course).
By the way - because Ann Merklinger (I added "Infobox curler" to her too, at the same time) has two sports (swimming and curling) in medal panel, here we can view "not the best" viewing effect: because in "swimming" there is long "viewed" string as 2nd parameter in "{{MedalSilver}}" for "1977 Summer Universiade" (string are: "200 m breaststroke"), 3rd column of "medal table" is "wide" - and 2nd column goes to left in "swimming" section and in "curling" section (where we haven't 3rd parameters in "Medalxxxxxx" templates). I tried to make it "better viewed" - but had "oops..." (( "Noone can have all the world" (c)SomeoneClever :-)

"Drunken Siberian Bears with brooms" and so on ))) Man at 0 min 43 sec - Alexey Artemjev, vice-president of Novosibrsk oblast Curling Federation. Girl at 1'15" - Ekaterina Birjuzova, member of women's curling "Team Novosibirsk Oblast". Another girl at 2:26 - Tatyana Filyushova, member of junior women's curling "Team Nov. Oblast". About "Russian curling clubs" - look at Russian Curling League (created year ago). Their goal - popularization of amateur curling, tournament organization etc. Their main site here (on Russian only yet :( but I can help you with little translations), they are in Facebook (here) and Instagram (here) (on Russian too - but I'm sure that they speak English if needed). So I right now created simple "list" (with only one category "Curling in Russia" and simple table) - and we both (maybe someone else from Russia or anywhere) will expand it step to step (I added to page only first 5 clubs - but it's not the end of course ;) ). Previous "exotic" is not the most one ;) Novosibirsk is "relatively south" in Siberia and Russia. But "strong North" is for example, Taymyr Peninsula, most north of Krasnoyarsk Krai (it - Krasnoyarsk Krai - comes nearly from China on south to Arctic Ocean). And... ta-da! )) Here, in Dudinka (small city but important ocean port) held "Taymyr Cup of Curling" in May 2016 ("most north curling champ in the world", as said). And people in Dudinka said that it will be more an more popular in their region - because it's very good as like sport and as like "good rest and friendship enlarged thing", and such "top level events" will continue next years. Russian "professional curlers" from "Team Russia", from Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Sochi etc. plays here on this Cup too - and say: "Good ice, good service and stuff, good crowd (and they fast learned basics of curling)! Something like in Sweden for example!" :-) Look here (photos; text on Russian) and here (TV-video, episode from "News" of Norilsk TV-company; man at 0:20 - Denis Galtsov, best icemaker in Russia, learned to make ice in Canada, he works with Team Russia and especially came from Moscow to this Cup; man at 1:00 - Alexey Stukalsky, one of best Russian curlers, says: "This is a place for world level curling events exactly"; man at 1:29 - Andrey Deganov, TV reporter; man at 1:50 - Sergey Alekseev, Minister of sports of Krasnoyarsk Krai; man at 2:17 - Andrey Zharinov, head curling coach in Dudinka, former good curler from Petersburg). In May 2017 "Dudinka Cup" will be international (and top level - players from Sweden, Norway, Canada, USA, Finland, Denmark, Russia) event in Curling Champions Tour shedule. 2017 Winter Universiade women's curling final

Hi Earl! I'm wondered that curling is "very poor TV-showed sport" on 2017 Winter Universiade - only two games broadcasts: men's and women's finals (men's - later today). Our Russian boys played "not the best" - only 8th in robin round. But girls (again Victoria Moiseeva and her Euro-2016-gold team) right now (veeery early morning, 6 a.m. in Moscow and 9 a.m. in Almaty) begans a final battle with Canadian team (Kelsey Rocque team). You can watch (live or later in record) women's final (with Russian commentary) on Match-TV site, here. I think it'll be interesting for you (and maybe for any other curling fans in Canada). I like to be "inspirer" :) FISU site gave me too big help with those "middle names" (it's strange that official 2017 WU site has not those middle names - only on FISU). Year before (October 2015, when I came in "curling theme in Ru-Wiki") we had only 70+ articles (most of them - very short stubs about Olympian curlers). And now we have 1000! Russian SuperCups 2017

Hi Earl. Today begans Russian SuperCups 2017 (between two top men's an two top women's teams; max. 7 games, "best of 7") for the berth to Worlds 2017 as "Team Russia". Tournament are held in Novogorsk (small town near border of Moscow), in Russian national curling training centre (it's not "ice sport palace", without "alive" audience - but video broadcasting of this event exists, thanks to Russian Curling Federation).
Women's "battle" are, of course, between Team Anna Sidorova and Team Victoria Moiseeva. Today's two games of those teams are in Youtube, on RussianCurlingTV channel (with Russian commentary), here: game 1, game 2.
Men's "battle" are between Team Alexey Timofeev and Team Artur Ali; their 1st game here: game 1 (only 33 minutes; I don't know why).

2009 Canada Cup "behind the scenes" video

Hi Earl. Maybe it will be interesting for you. I found this video when googled additional infos about 2009 Canada Cup. This is video Canada Cup of Curling Behind The Scenes (2009) - as fun as interesting for me (for example, "public bathroom like a control room" - and I remember with laughing many "dirty and not for that business exactly" rooms, where I many times created "Abbey Road Studios by me" when I recorded like a sound engineer some of our Soviet amateur rock groups in 1980's). And it's interesting for me like a "how it all works" (TV coverage) of course...

An the question: I couldn't find full results of round robin games for this 2009 Canada Cup (off.site - link at en-Wiki article - isn't on Wayback, on Curlingzone I see only "how many wins and losses" for each team, but not result of any game, "9:3" for example). Troubles with WorldCurlingTour players database?

Hi Earl ! Do you have the same troubles as me with players database on WCT site? Some weeks (month or longer - and for now) when I come to any player profile I see error message:

Fatal error: Call to undefined method stdClass::query() in /var/www/vhosts/curlingzone.com/worldcurl.com/player_teams.php on line 2

...and NO information about teams or events (for example, look here, in Rachel Homan's profile).

It's not "great problem" for me (and my Ru-curling-readers) because I (in December 2016) expanded (in Ru-wiki) template "worldcurlingtour" - and I have two links to profiles: to WCT site (with this error - and you can't view "Teams" or "Events") and to CurlingZone site (without this error - so I can view needed info in player's profile and use it for Wiki-articles). For example look to Ru-article about Cheryl Kreviazuk, here - on the bottom you see two links (from one string: {{worldcurlingtour|22615}}).

By the way - right now I added to En-wiki article Cheryl Kreviazuk (why we have info about 2 sisters only? about all 3 is better :) ). -- Alexey Gustow (talk) 15:12, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

Yeah, I was having troubles with the WCT site too. I didn't realize it was working at curlingzone, thanks for letting me know! And thanks for creating the article on Cheryl, I was thinking about doing it my self. It was interesting to learn her name is spelled differently in Russian than the singer. Just because of the pronunciation? Are there any sources for how it's spelled in Russian? I remember being at the Team Homan send off at my club when they were in juniors and that was the first time I heard the Kreviazuk name pronounced differently than the singer. Almost everyone pronounces their name like the singer (including on TV), but when someone on the team or a family member or close friend says their name, they get it right. -- Earl Andrew - talk 19:23, 1 April 2017 (UTC)

1) About "troubles with WCT" - I can easy "expand" En-template "{{World Curling Tour}}, so it will display two links (to WCT profile and to CurlingZone profile) in two items of "*"-list, NO any changes in articles needed for this. If you say "OK" - I'll do it today or tomorrow.

By the way - do you need asterisk ("*") at the start of string with link to WCT (and WCF too) for using in "External links" section of curling-bio-articles? It existed before someone modified month ago templates "World Curling Federation" and "World Curling Tour" (for using "by default" Wikidata properties P3557, "WCF id", and P3556, "WCT id" - it's good idea I mean! very useful... but... if WCF/WCT id's already exists in Wikidata). It's very simple, "5 seconds to shoot" :) But... if I add "*" to template you can't use it without asterisk (in the middle of simple text for "ref" for example) but only like item of unordered list ("* blablabla").

2) About Kreviazuk surname spelling. They are from Ukraine (like lot of Canadians) - you know of course. And the singer uses Ukrainian pronounciation of surname, but Doug and his family (and 3 daughters too) uses "english-style" of "uk" sound and accent to "ia" (maybe they - or their parents - wanted to "forget" their past, maybe they want to say "We remember our roots - but for today our homeland is here now, not in Киев or Винница"... how knows emigrants's minds). I'm not a "linguist" - but it's often thing for some people who want to show himself like "proud native man from New York - but NOT from dirty Russia, Ukraine or ex-USSR". :)) -- Alexey Gustow (talk) 01:55, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

I don't know what to do about the templates, to be honest. I'll leave it up to you. For Curlingzone, I'd almost think a separate template is ideal, despite it being basically the same thing as the World Curling Tour side. Oh, and on the note of Kreviazuk, do you have a source as to how her name is spelled in Russian? I am just curious! A lot of people in North America change the pronunciation of their surnames, much to the chagrin of a purist like myself. I cringe whenever I hear "Wang" pronounced as if it was a slang term for a certain part of the male anatomy. This is how Vic Rauter pronounces Bingyu Wang. I did it! :) 10 minutes work - and look to test (on my user subpage). I added "CurlingZone part" to WCT-template, but it's easy to make separate template (but I can't understand for what? in this case you need to add "curlungzone" template to huge number of articles - with one combine template you can have more time for looking WMCC2017 from Las Vegas :) ). No problems sir! :)) If you like it I'll copypaste it to "public" WCT-player-profile-template. And I'll add asterisk to WCF-player-profile-template if you want.
About Kreviazuk - her surname spells on Ukrainian and Russian (Кревязюк) such style: "e" like "e" in "ten", "ia" like "ya" in "yacht", "u" like "you", accent to "u" in "uk". Any sources? Don't know - I'm "not a profi linguist" ;) About Chineses surnames and other names - on Russian we speak not "Wang" but "Wan" ("a" like "u" in "but", sounds like "Van" in Dutch surnames), and Chinese said (when they come to Russia) without "g" at the end too. I wondered too - for what En-spoken added this "g"? ;) And, for example, we speak not "Beijing" but "Pekin" ("e" like in "test", "i" like "ea" in "be", accent to "i" of course). By the way, for me CurlingZone is some better like information source about player's carier than WCT site (CZ guys add to database info about some tournaments - mainly national champs/cups etc. - you can't find it on WCT cite; so I can view - and easy add to Wiki-article - info about "when Niklas Edin plays on Swedish Cup? who plays with him in team on each Sw.Cup? which place they stand?" and so on... but they don't add info about "exotic" Czech, Russia or China national events, maybe in near future they'll do that, I hope)
No, we have /ng/ sound in pronounciation - but mainly in "foreign" words (for example ru:Акваланг - all "a" are strong "ah", like "a" in "hard", accent to 3rd "a"; or Штанга as sports thing or trolley pole - once more all "a" are strong "ah", accent to 1st "a")...
It's funny thing with Kevin Koe's surname in pronounciation of Russian curling fans (and even Russian TV commentators). There was Russian composer (in XIX century) ru:Цезарь Кюи (César Cui), pronounced "u" like in "fusion" and "i" like in "be", accent on "i" (not on "u"). And... almost all here (who don't understand English - no matter watch they En-spoken curling videos or not) speaks Kevin's surname like Cesar's surname. I'm trying to explain them - but it's much more harder work than to write to Wiki )))
One more funny thing "around surnames". When WWCC-2017 begins I went (don't remember for what) to WCF database, to Rachel Homan profile - and I see... "Rachel Germain" as MAIN name (and lower "Also: Rachel Homan").... I said "WHAT?????" with very wide open eyes ))) "We haven't HOMANator for future, - I'm thinking, - we'll have strange GERMAINator?" )) 2 or 3 days after I went again to Homan WCF profile - haha, "Homan" again is MAIN surname, and today too :))) -- Alexey Gustow (talk) 05:30, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

I saw the Homan name change too, and had the same reaction. I was frantically searching google for more evidence. I added the change to her article under "other names". I suspect that she legally changed her name when she married, so when she registered for the Worlds, she was accidentally registered under her 'legal' name rather than her 'public' name. This is quite common among female celebrities, having public and private names (maybe like Beyoncé (Knowles-Carter)?)! -- Earl Andrew - talk 13:38, 2 April 2017 (UTC)

I'm familiar with that, but it what the "Common name" for the event needs to be discussed. It's a bit more complicated in curling then you seem to think. Hi Earl. I created right now simple template {{WMCC}} - it creates link to any World Men's Curling Champ (similar as my "Brier" or "STOH" templates - by the way: do you use this templates?). It will be unique tournament - the first "international curling top battle" to north of Arctic Circle, in liiiiitle Dudinka... but participants are 8 top world level women's teams (6 of course + Finland's Oona Causte as "from North country with so-so women's curling" + "team of Krasnoyarsk Krai"): Russians Sidorova, Moiseeva, Canadians Jones, USA Nina Roth, Swedish Sigfridsson, Suiss Alina Paetz (at the beginning our Russians "bosses" wanted to named tournament "Cup of 69° N" - but they changed title because Suiss people wants to play... and maybe next years the teams from other "south countries" will wants, who knows?). Municipal elections in Canada

Thanks for the compliments. The main reason I did the map was to show how popular each candidate was per ward. I would be more than happy to make a map of mayoral election results by ward, as long as I have the information. Does your blog (which by the way I love to read from time to time) have Edmonton and Calgary mayoral maps? Curling competition naming

Hi Earl. As an extension of reviewing 2017 Pepsi Tankard, I came across 2009 Boston Pizza Cup, etc. Not quite sure if there's a general guideline regarding article titles where there is commercial sponsorship, but practice elsewhere has been to redirect commercial to generic name (for instance, 1997 ARL season rather than "Optus Cup", 1997 Super League (Australia) season rather than "Telstra Cup", and the guidance at Wikipedia:WikiProject_Tennis/Article_guidelines#Article_types_and_recommended_practices). Would you please consider:

1. (re)naming such articles descriptively (eg, "2009 Alberta men's curling championship").
2. adding appropriate wikiprojects to the talkpages of such articles.

Today I created in Ru-Wiki one more useful for readers (as I think) category - ru:Категория:Статьи о кёрлинге со ссылками на видео матчей (curling articles with links to curling related videos: full matches etc. from official Youtube channels - WCF, Curling Canada and so on). Parent categories is "Category:Curling" and "Category:YouTube videos". Do you mean it's useful for En-Wiki too? I can add it to En-Wiki - but what name you preferred? It's similar like Wikipedia:WikiProject Curling/Curling (red links) (for Category:Curling) - but this one is for Category:Curlers by nationality (all curlers are in this category). It creates by MissingTopic tool too. Contains "red links" (to not existed yet articles - not only "curling related", but sometimes to article about any city etc.) somewhere in articles in this category and it's subcategories. Such "more short red links list" is helpful for me in ru-Wiki for work (article about what curler is "most wanted" in articles about other curlers? and so on). -- Alexey Gustow (talk) 04:00, 31 August 2017 (UTC)
