Re:David M. Gonzales

I agree with you about the image. As a matter of fact, I had the black and white one in the infobox and someone changed it back to the blue background one. Be my guest and change it. I'm working hard on those MoH's. Another thing I really like your style in the MoH citation, the cuotations. I have used it as a standard for the other MoH citations. Tony the Marine 23:24, 2 December 2006 (UTC)

HI!

I'm running VandalProof right now and it shows me you're online. Just saying hi. Rlevse 12:41, 3 December 2006 (UTC)

VP doesn't actually have what you'd call a "who's" online option, but it does show "recent changes" with only a few seconds delay, so if someone shows up there you know they're currently online. Your edit about, I think, a marine parachute regiment showed up while I was patrolling for vandals. On another note, all three in the mediation case have now agreed to mediation, but Jergen stills want a different mediator. Your call, if you don't want to do it, that's okay. Help with an A-Class review

My apologies for bothering you with this, but might you be able to chip in on this A-Class review? The usual crowd seems decidedly absent, and I'd prefer not to have the article sit in limbo because we haven't been able to round up some reviewers. Thanks! Thanks for putting some time in on kp duty. I think there are a lot of interesting aspects of military subculture that crop up in the civilian world, but there is limited information available. I'd love to see a whole article on spit shines, for example, or a military section in the Brasso article. I had not thought of categorizing it in the Military History project at all, though. Re: [edit] General Michael Hagee, USMC - retirement

I see what you're saying, the Gen is probably on terminal leave until his actual retirement date. I stand corrected. Windyjarhead 17:01, 7 December 2006 (UTC)

years

hi ... can u pls give the url for the single years rule that u mentioned on the Mussina article? tx.--Epeefleche 17:49, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Actually, I never edited the Mussina article. I think you are referring to a recent edit to the Andy Pettitte article. Here is the MOS guideline page — Wikipedia:Only make links that are relevant to the context. — ERcheck (talk) 22:43, 12 December 2006 (UTC)

Thanks. But I note that it says "Dates -- ...there is no general consensus that the habit of linking separate years ... although most Wikipedians disfavour that habit currently.... Dates when they contain a day, month, and year — 25 March 2004 — or day and month — February 10 — should be linked for date preference formatting. Stand alone years do not need to be linked but some users prefer it..." That seems something less than a "do not link" commandment, no?--Epeefleche 02:44, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi ERcheck. You removed both the anon attack and my {{db-attack}} with your edit. Is there any reason not to just delete Image talk:BNTM2all.jpg? Right now, the attack is still in the history and the edit summary. Þicaroon 21:07, 14 December 2006 (UTC)

Username report

You posted User:Darkherox on WP:AIV for a username violation. Please explain why this is a violation. (I've removed it from the AIV notice board.) — ERcheck (talk) 14:32, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

The username I'm trying to bring to your attention is "Come and fuck me". I reported it using Vandalproof, and it has a bug with usernames containing spaces. I tried to correct it, but Antivandlbot reverted me twice. Apologies for the confusion. Mr Stephen 14:38, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Richard Tregaskis as a Marine Corps Portal Article?

Hi, how's it been going?

I added this stub earlier today: Richard Tregaskis

He wrote Guadalcanal Diary and other military-related books.

Because he was covering the USMC at Guadalcanal, do you think his article could be connected to the USMC portal, or is this stretching it a bit?

Thanks, --Skb8721 22:30, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for the reply on my user talk page. I'll try to expand the article on Monday and Tuesday, so that it contains the minimum number of words required for nomination in the DYK section. Unfortunately, I didn't offhand see any one location on the Net for detailed info on Tregaskis, so I'll probably have to glean bits and pieces from here and there. Actually, I do have access to newspaperarchive.com and will see if I cannot find his obituary. Sincerely, --Skb8721 21:57, 16 December 2006 (UTC)
Hi, again. I've expanded the Richard Tregaskis article. Do you think it is suitable for nomination as a DYK? (I thought all DYK nominations had to be at least 1,000 words in length; but, actually, the regulations says 1,000 "characters" in length. So the article is safe on these grounds.) Sincerely, --Skb8721 17:29, 18 December 2006 (UTC)
Thanks for the DYK nomination. I shortened the DYK entry just a tad, and I added a photo. —The preceding unsigned comment was added by Skb8721 (talkcontribs) 18:28, 18 December 2006 (UTC).
Cool, it was chosen for the DYK. Thanks again for your help!!! --Skb8721 18:17, 20 December 2006 (UTC)
ERcheck, I didn't notice until today that you are an administrator. As such, do you think I am qualified to be an administrator, based on my record? I believe I've been active on Wikipedia since June (I think). I'm in no hurry, however, if you think I am not ready. Really, if you could give me feedback on this topic, I'd appreciate it! Sincerely, --Skb8721 04:08, 21 December 2006 (UTC)

Re: Within the scope of WPMILHIST

Yep, I'd say both fall quite nicely under military historiography. :-) Kirill Lokshin 23:44, 15 December 2006 (UTC)

Marie Teresa Rios

Hey buddy, it is always nice to hear from you. I'm glad that you liked the Marie Teresa Rios article. What a family! About the webpage, I'll notify the editor and have them fix the problem. I was just thinking about you and some other friends here in Wikim which I haven't been able to talk to for some time. The last two weeks I was busy writing the bios of the MoH's in the List of Hispanic Medal of Honor recipients that needed them. I finished that. I was also waiting for the results on my biopsy and thank God I don't have prostate cancer. Have you seen the bios? I think some of them could make GA Status. You know, when I wrote the article about Antonio Rodriguez Balinas, I had a hard time finding info on him. The people who run Los Valiosos website didn't even want to cooperate with me, but I was able to do it anyway. Cheers! Tony the Marine 00:46, 16 December 2006 (UTC)

DYK update

Hi Binguyen,

You are one of the most active admins on DYK, so I'm dropping you this line.

Today, I tried my hand at the DYK update for the first time. (I have a much greater appreciation now for all the work you do in keeping this feature moving on a regular basis). If I made any mistakes, please let me know. I tried my best to follow all of the directions.

Thanks, — ERcheck (talk) 01:20, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Hello ERcheck. I think that everything's in order, but I think that User:Tony1/How_to_satisfy_Criterion_1a:_redundancy_exercises, a skills training guide for FAC is pretty helpful, as it helps you to be on the lookout for redundant words and such. Certainly after getting Ian Thorpe through FAC, I noticed that I managed to economise the length of noms more effectively, so that we don't unnecessarily miss stuff because of the backlog. It's also in your right (and I exercise it) to cut extraneous detail which extracts from the part of the blurb which is supposed to thought provoke "did you know" ?? ideas. Aside from that, when the RHS of the main page is too short and we don't have space for DYK, I go to BBC and try and find an excuse to put more news items to make the RHS longer. It helps to have more people inspecting the noms for sure. Thanks, Blnguyen (bananabucket) 01:43, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Issue resolution

Hey buddy, just to clarify, myself and a few of my friends all decided we should get accounts on wikipedia as we use it alot as a reference for our studies. I looked up what a sockpuppet is, and that is definitely not what is going on.

DYK

Updated DYK query Did you know? was updated. On 20 December, 2006, a fact from the article Richard Tregaskis, which you recently nominated, has been featured in that section on the Main Page. If you know of another interesting fact from a recently created article, then please suggest it on the "Did you know?" talk page.

Greetings

O.K., so maybe you don't believe in Santa, but I still want to wish you and your loved ones a "Happy Holidays" and all of the happiness in the world and the best new year ever. Your friend, Tony the Marine 23:55, 20 December 2006 (UTC)

Next year, Somos Primos a magazine which I write for and that is received in the Library of Congress and Smithsonian Institute, will run a Hispanic MoH series. Tony the Marine 04:57, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

That is great. Will they be using the text from the articles? Or, is it about the articles? — ERcheck (talk) 06:27, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

I believe the text will be used. Tony the Marine 23:08, 22 December 2006 (UTC)

I don't know what's wrong. Tell you what, write your e-amil add in my talk page then I'll e-mail you and you should be able to respond. Tony the Marine 05:06, 23 December 2006 (UTC)

Administrator Status?

ERcheck,

I didn't notice until recently that you are an administrator.

As such, do you think I am qualified to serve as an administrator, based on my record?

I've been active on Wikipedia since May.

I'm in no hurry, however, if you think I am not ready.

If you could give me feedback on this topic, I'd appreciate it!

Sincerely,

--Skb8721 21:13, 27 December 2006 (UTC)

ERcheck, Thanks for your reply. I'll delay my application for admin status and read the material you suggested. Sincerely, --Skb8721 00:07, 30 December 2006 (UTC)

Fallujah

thank ou for your involvment in the page but I belive that you may have missed the fact that the number 27 is not mentioned in any article and not only the guardian but a state department spokesman on NPR and NBC reported 83. furthermore as you seemed to have had prior relations with the other users and stoped the page on their verison and subsequently voiced unilateral suport for their version it sounds like a conflict of intrest to me admin powers should not be used to suport one side in a dispute.
