[edit]I stumbled upon your work when proofing some of your DYK noms. You deserve this:

Thank you Dumelow for you many contributions to articles pertaining to the engineering field, specifically those related to civil engineering. Additionally, your articles on historic engineers is fantastic and your efforts made for WikiProject Civil engineering are to be commended. Pictures of Civil Engineering Presidents
[edit]I admit I didn't check the copyright situation of the images in question. I suppose that if they are non-free images then they should only be used on the individual articles related to the subject, however, I think it's reasonable to leave the image of Douglas Fox in place. I will remove the others. --DavidCane (talk) 22:51, 16 February 2009 (UTC)

Zanzibar Revolution
[edit]The peer review is showing as closed; not sure why. I'd be happy to comment elsewhere (the article talk-page?) if that would be useful. EyeSerenetalk 09:57, 18 February 2009 (UTC)
- OK, no problem. I'll keep checking back, and should get something up within the next day or so (though my internet connection is playing silly buggers at the moment :P) EyeSerenetalk 12:16, 18 February 2009 (UTC)

Zanzibar Revolution II
[edit]I've read through the article, and to be honest it looks pretty good. I genuinely couldn't spot much wrong with it; content, coverage, sourcing etc all look good, so I think perhaps a light copyedit is the only thing it needs. Rather than nitpick on the PR, would it be more useful if I helped out with that? EyeSerenetalk 08:25, 20 February 2009 (UTC)

Zanzibar Rev again
[edit]OK, I think I'm done with the copyedit. Thank you for the opportunity to work on such an interesting article (I knew nothing about the revolution prior to this), and it's been a pleasure working with you ;) I'd recommend a proofread for any spelling errors and typos I may have introduced, and I suspect the article may need to be checked for over-linking; there are a few links that occur more than once in the text, and some common words are linked. All the best with its future development, EyeSerenetalk 12:21, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

ITN
[edit]I find myself agreeing with all of your suggested changes to things. Maybe you should consider going for adminship so you can make these changes yourself! ITN could certainly use another active administrator. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 09:33, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah I have considered it, if only to bring another admin into ITN for updating purposes, but have always been put off by the RFA process. I am a big fan of WP:NOBIGDEAL and feel that RFA's focus on jumping through hoops and answering hordes of questions has harmed the project by driving away potential candidates. However I am open to the idea of running for adminship and would give it a go if someone nominated me - Dumelow (talk) 10:25, 30 September 2009 (UTC)
- Hope you don't mind keeping the thread together! I could probably nominate you, if you would be up for that. I'm waiting to hear from someone else about the same thing but that wouldn't necessarily affect it anyway. When would be a good week to do it? I'll need to do a thorough check of your contributions just to be sure, but I don't expect to find anything alarming ;) Is there anyone else you have worked with particularly who may be able to add something to a nomination? I mostly agree with your assessment of the RFA process, it's just something that has to be done, unfortunately. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 15:29, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- No probs regarding keeping the thread together. I would appreciate a nomination. It would perhaps be better to put it off for a month or so as I recently had two or three months off (combination of lots of uni work and actual work amongst other things) so there is a big gap in my contributions. I also want to get back into article creation (I have a few sandbox articles on the go at the moment) before I do anything else. The month would also give me time to check out the admin's reading list and try to get my head around some WP policies. Thanks for the support though, it is much appreciated - Dumelow (talk) 16:26, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Okay, just let me know when you're ready (watching this page). And if WP:Requests for adminship/Dumelow turns blue you'll know that I've started drafting the nomination! — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 16:31, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Done You can start answering the questions when you're ready. — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:43, 21 October 2009 (UTC)

I was going to suggest that you don't answer 7 as it seems as though it might relate to a current request for arbitration and not hypothetical at all. But you've probably worked this out for yourself anyway. Cheers — Martin (MSGJ · talk) 14:37, 26 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks for letting me know, it is pretty much identical to that ongoing case so I certainly won't be answering it. Is it worth pointing this out at RFA or just best to ignore the question? - Dumelow (talk) 17:08, 26 October 2009 (UTC)

Well any topic related to Portuguese East Africa really, Sofala I'd like to see improved, I noticed that books has a a fair bit about Sofala, but any work on any African history is great! Re: AfD Q3
[edit]I'm surprised you've managed to work on so many ITNs and still avoid big conflicts for so long! I've only done two ITNs, but both were pretty controversial topics and attracted so much craziness that, especially for the first one, I didn't sleep for days. I'll have to see if I can pick up some of your tricks for calming down the POV-pushers and other wackos ;) rʨanaɢ talk/contribs 00:29, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
- Yeah, I can see why those articles have the potential for conflict. I guess I have just been lucky in not encountering anything too bad. If it all goes wrong at any stage I find that stepping back and realising that this is, in fact, just a website and not the "be all and end all" of life helps. Thanks for your support at RFA by the way (and for fixing my formatting in that reply), cheers - Dumelow (talk) 00:40, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

- You didn't; please remember to do so next time. Btw I changed "twelve people and injuring 31" to "12 people and injuring 31" because Wikipedia:Mosnum#Numbers as figures or words dictates: "Comparable quantities should be all spelled out or all figures: we may write either 5 cats and 32 dogs or five cats and thirty-two dogs, not five cats and 32 dogs." --BorgQueen (talk) 03:53, 6 November 2009 (UTC)
