Your block of Mplspc
Dragonfly, I noticed recently your block of User:Mplspc because you have some belief that it is an organizational account. I work in a law firm right next door to the Mooresville (NC) Public library, and I believe the account was created by (and probably solely used by) the Curator of that department. Is there a reason that led you to suspect it may be an organizational account, rather than an individual one based on Mplspc's actions? Or was it based solely on the Userpage description? I believe the block may have been hastily made, and it might have been better to let the user know about the "one user, one account" policy before blocking, to see if the user was indeed using it as a multiperson account. In fact, I have it on good authority that only one person works in the Special Collections department - that being the Curator - and that it's highly likely he's the only one who has ever - or ever will - use the account. Hey thanks for curating my userspace pages. Regards. Faizan 14:43, 23 June 2013 (UTC) |
Pages in my userspace
Sorry that my 'reference extraction' project is spamming the curation backlog....I actually did not realize that the subpages in my userspace were 'up for review'...I assumed they weren't. I mainly do gnoming type stuff (ISBN fixes, right now) in mainspace, and very few 'content' edits, but given that it is my 'plan' to extend this 'project' to /many/ more of the stubs from the 'missing encyclopedia articles' projects (extracting the references used by 'modern' articles about the people in the old PD sources) I'm probably going to be creating hundreds more of these 'subpages'.
An opinion on if it would be 'worthwhile' for me to go ahead and request 'autopatrolled' would be helpful....I'm a regular in the IRC 'wikipedia-help-en' channel and knowledgable enough about policies to not 'abuse' the right in mainspace, it's just that since my main 'editorial interest' isn't actually 'article creation' I'd assumed that the request would be pointless (I'm not a 'hat collector'). I'd rather 'know' that people would support the request before I dove into the RfP foo, though, since the 'reason' would be a bit 'unusual'....FWIW, my plan (once I get the 'project' farther along) is to transclude these 'reference lists' into sections on the talk pages of the articles that don't use the 'freely available' sources (many are on places like Google Books, Hathi Trust, the Internet Archive text collection, etc) after preparing 'correct' citations that can be uniformly applied...it's a huge task that will essentially last 'forever'.
If you're curious, I'm a 'known' person to most of the 'IRC regular helpers'...I haven't asked them specifically, but I'm sure people like User:GorillaWarfare and User:Technical 13 would probably vouch that I at least have the 'common sense' about wiki policies to not abuse the privilege if I did get it....I'm mainly just asking if my activities would 'merit' getting it to avoid spamming reviewers with stuff from my userspace....I'm bugging you since you're the person I've been getting notifications about. I don't care about the notifications....just don't want to create 'pointless' work. Revent (talk) 15:32, 23 June 2013 (UTC)

reviewing books
you don't have to review my books (not even sure what that means). in fact, i would like them deleted. i wasn't aware they were editable by others and what not, i just thought they were saved in my account in that organization. i was having trouble downloading articles so i could read them on another machine without internet. i saved them to after numerous failures when generating the pdfs. i have no more use for them and no one else needs to waste their time looking at them. they're just a bunch of loosely related pages i had yet to read when i put them in the books. thanks. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Cauzality (talk • contribs) 20:36, 25 June 2013 (UTC)

TR7 rewrite page
I had a notification that you've reviewed the rewrite of the Triumph TR7 article that's in my user space today. Not that I understand what that means precisely, but perhaps you should know that I will be deleting that page (should have done so already). This is because it was only created to show how daft it would be to merge the TR7 Sprint page into the TR7, i.e. how unbalanced the article would be if all the referenced content were simply dropped in it. However, it never got used in anyway.

I was about to add my own inquiry, but see from your response to the others above as to the meaning of "reviewing" pages that the actual activity was "patrolling", or checking for obvious violations that might require deletion. I do not see the point of leaving a cryptic message for users while doing such a routine admin task when the result is null (passed without comment). FigureArtist (talk) 21:08, 3 July 2013 (UTC)

Page review
Hey, I saw a notification in my inbox that you had reviewed the page I created, Scale the Summit discography. Were it not for that notification, I would not have known you did this, but since I do, what did you think? I know the article is very sparse on info - what I should probably do next is find the critical acclaim that has happened to the band in the past and thus qualifies them to be on Wikipedia - but now you probably know why I merged all four of those articles into one. I do intend to improve coverage of my favorite bands here on Wikipedia, but I'm only able to do so much at once, so adding those reviews to this article is going to take some time. Other than that, though, any suggestions? LazyBastardGuy 19:45, 2 July 2013 (UTC)

Deletion of talk page
Hello DragonflySixtyseven. Why did you delete Talk:Pests and diseases of roses? If the page had been used in a forum type way (I hadn't actually read it, so don't know what had been written there), surely just removal of content and/or addition of a header instructing people how to use the page, would have been a more appropriate action? Deletion seems drastic, to say the least. PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 22:20, 12 July 2013 (UTC)
- (P.S. An IP has since re-created the page with a general query, so I removed their query and added a 'not a forum' template.) PaleCloudedWhite (talk) 23:50, 12 July 2013 (UTC)

Your deletions of content from Billy Hathorn socks
Hi. I see that you speedy-deleted several pages recently created by Billy Hathorn socks with the reason "created by sock of blocked user". I don't think these deletions were a valid application of WP:CSD#G5, for several reasons. First, Billy was neither blocked nor banned at the time he created these articles, as Amalthea had unblocked him after concluding that the block was futile. (I have no idea why Billy was still using socks to create articles, but he wasn't in fact blocked at the time.) Secondly, at least some of these pages had substantial edits by others. In particular, I became aware of the deletions because you deleted J. Robert Wooley, which I had substantially edited after it was nominated at WP:DYK; you deleted my substantial contributions there. I believe that the deletion of these pages was not justified and that they should be restored. Deleted articles that I am aware of are:
- Doug Green (Louisiana politician)
- Sherman A. Bernard
- Michael O'Keefe (Louisiana politician)
- Sidney McCrory
- Gil Dozier
- J. Robert Wooley
- Sam H. Theriot
- Rush Wimberly
I am not suggested that all of these topics are notable or that the articles are free of copyvios. I'm just saying that they did not qualify for speedy deletion and should be restored.
Additionally, you deleted Category:Ouachita Parish High School alumni without removing the category from several articles that had been included in it. The category probably shouldn't exist, but that should be discussed at WP:CFD, per standard protocol -- and it doesn't do much good to delete a category but allow it to remain as a redlink on multiple articles. --Orlady (talk) 15:20, 17 July 2013 (UTC)

Request For Aid 2
I am again writing you to request aid. I am still experiencing problems with the Book Creator. I just compiles another book: User:Jason Palpatine/Books/History of Israel. File not found From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The file you are trying to download does not exist: Maybe it has been deleted and needs to be regenerated.
Is there anything you can do about this problem?
Also: another pair of duplicated books were created -- can you tell me how I can go about deleting them myself? They are:

Yo, quick question for my brother DragonflySixtyseven
What is a good example of how someone could wreak havoc on Wikipedia in such a convoluted way that it would be near-impossible to ban them? Thanks, brother! — Ascendah (talk) 12:43, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
I think admins like you make a big mistake, if they delete articlies like Marc Bator (a famous German journalist) or Hildegard Krekel (a famous German actress). But if it is your will, to hurt English Wikipedia, so it should be. I only write as German speaking author articles and have no interest or enough time to talk and fight over tricks in English Wikipedia.
178.3.16.150 (talk) 18:10, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
- Those articles were deleted because they were submitted by a sockpuppet of a blocked user. If you are blocked from editing Wikipedia, that does not mean you are allowed to pretend to be another person and submit articles that way; it means you are not allowed to submit articles at all, and if you submit articles that way, they will be deleted. If another editor chooses to submit articles about Krekel and/or Bator, they are welcome to do so. DS (talk) 18:44, 3 August 2013 (UTC)
Uncivil Editors
My first thought when I saw that User:Robert McClenon/Uncivil Editors had been reviewed was: "Why is an admin reviewing a user subpage?" Then it occurred to me that, based on the title, it could have been an attack page against other uncivil editors, and that two wrongs don't make a right. However, I see that you saw that it wasn't an attack page, but a comment on policy. Okay. Robert McClenon (talk) 23:54, 4 August 2013 (UTC)

Just curious RE: Review
I am wondering why I have four notifications that you reviewed four different items on my userpage but I can't find where the review is and what this actually means? Why does one do a review of a user page? And have I done something wrong? Just curious... I hate breaking the rules and I love learning from my mistakes. Thank you in advance for your time explaining this to me. TattØØdẄaitre§ lĖTŝ tÅLĶ 06:00, 7 August 2013 (UTC)
- TattØØdẄaitre§, if I may take the liberty of making a partial response on DragonflySixtyseven's behalf (since you're my mentee - btw, as an aside, you aren't done with your training course... just saying...), he was probably using page curation (or even if he wasn't using that tool, the same idea applies) to browse through pages that are new and marking them as patrolled or reviewed. That's a way of indicating that an experienced user (he's an admin) has evaluated a page and determined it to not be vandalism or otherwise "bad." If he thought it was bad, he'd probably just delete it himself. You and I can do reviews, too; we just don't have the power to do a lot of the follow-up dirty work (oh, shucks ). If you go to the new pages feed, you can give it a try. It's a great way to provide feedback to both new editors and seasoned editors by providing suggestions on how to improve. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. I noticed that you changed the filename for this image from LAHS-logo. I understand if there is some manual of style issue with the original name, but you re-named it incorrectly? The Hacienda Heights school does not use an Eagle as a mascot. Would you mind fixing that - and also, for future reference, when you re-name an image (especially a fair-use image), please correct the link in its original article (Los Altos High School (Los Altos, California)) to avoid orphaning it. That was avoided in this case, it seems, because of the redirect. Thanks. --haha169 (talk) 22:34, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- Update, it appears that the fair use rationale was changed in this edit by an anon from the Los Altos school to the Hacienda Heights school. In any case, could you move the image to reflect the correct school? I'll do the same for the fair use rationale. --haha169 (talk) 22:37, 13 August 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, I thought I made the correct name clear above, but simply changing "Hacienda Heights" to "Los Altos" in the image name will do. --haha169 (talk) 23:06, 13 August 2013 (UTC)

Speedy deletion nomination of File:Marbled Teal.jpg
A tag has been placed on File:Marbled Teal.jpg requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section F2 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because it is an image page for a missing or corrupt image or an empty image description page for a Commons-hosted image.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Hello. I’m new to Wikipedia and I was hoping you could help me with making my first article live. I think this is a worthy Wikipedia subject. Unfortunately it was deleted before, so I’ve created a new article. I understand that new people need established administers or our articles are toast. (Although I could be wrong, hence the newbie). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Sonjaydewing/sandbox Sonjaydewing (talk) 20:29, 21 August 2013 (UTC)
Planet Rugby
Thanks for reviewing my stub on Planet Rugby, unfortunately wikipedia doesn't allow it to be created as an article due to trolling in the past(http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Planet_Rugby), as you can see via the deletion Log..I'm a long time member of the wiki and I find it sad that we are not allowed to create an article on one of the biggest Rugby newsite in the world. Not only does an article on the site warrant inclusion but also its linking here on wikipedia, if to do a search of Planet Rugby (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?search=planet+Rugby&title=Special%3ASearch) on wikipedia, you will understand what I'm talking about....if you think the stub i have created is worthy enough to be added to wikipedia (ofcourse it would be updated in time), then please unprotect Planet Rugby and allow it to be created...If not, please give me a valid reason why it shouldn't cause I have honestly seen worse news-sites related to sports like American football or baseball being allowed...--Stemoc (talk) 07:28, 22 August 2013 (UTC)
The Sexual Advice Association
Hi. I have just logged in to wikipedia and noticed that you have deleted an article I wrote, named 'The Sexual Advice Association.' I am fairly new to wikipedia and wanted to find out the reasoning behind this deletion so I can try to avoid the same mistakes in further articles. I would welcome any tips or advice from you so please get back to me on my page. Thanks! Binko100 (talk) 08:20, 22 August 2013 (UTC)

Greetings,
would you be willing to contribute to the deletion discussion about Mokenge P. Malafa? You reviewed the article on August 16th, and few to no editors who work with medicine topics have involved themselves in this discussion.

Deletion from my sandbox - I was not finished working on it
Hello,
Thanks for the work you do on Wikipedia. I see that you are quite active.
As a new marketing manager for my company, I was beginning to set up an entry for Wikipedia. I did this in the sandbox as I figured this is wher I can play. I did not even realize it was a public space. Or is it? Maybe only admins can get in. Let me know.
My question is about the "overly promotional" comment/reason. Can you guide me to policy around that? I'd like to document our company, our history, global reach, and the special place we play in the secondary market for networking equipment.
Thank you in advance. Joe Murray Moejurray (talk) 17:47, 26 August 2013 (UTC)
- (talk page stalker) Wikipedia has two policies regarding this, WP:COI and WP:NPOV. If you have a conflict of interest, it is highly discouraged that you edit the related article. Secondly, Wikipedia is meant to be an encyclopedia with a neutral point of view. We are not a directory of businesses: see WP:NOTDIR. --Rschen7754 00:06, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
Hello RSchen: Curious how Intel's listing is essentially a promotional piece for their company. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Intel Do you think If I followed that outline, I could get our company listed?
Also, What is the policy regarding Sandboxes. Are they not a private place for me to develop drafts? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Moejurray (talk • contribs) 21:46, 13 September 2013 (UTC)
- A) All pages on Wikipedia are visible by everyone at all times. This includes all sandboxes. B) If you can make a page for your company that follows the format for the Intel article, including the section on all the lawsuits, and you can supply sources of the same quality as the sources in the Intel article, then yes. If you don't know how to assess the quality of sources, then we can't help you. DS (talk) 02:04, 14 September 2013 (UTC)
Quito Metro deletion
Quito Metrorail was a perfectly valid article which you deleted without discussion because it was "created by sock of blocked user". For the Spanish version see http://es.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metro_de_Quito Could you restore the information to a user page for me and I will improve it and recreate a valid article. Thank you. Pumpie
Hi! Since you're familiar with Pumpie (talk · contribs)'s body of "work", could you please expedite this SPI? If Markus, Yngvadottir and I had doubts that Oh Yeaaahh (talk · contribs) was a Pumpie sock, I am 200% sure that this is one, the WP:DUCK match is just too perfect. Constantine ✍ 15:01, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- Sorry, I just did the purge based on the fact that it had been blocked as a P sock. Ask NF (the one who did the block). DS (talk) 15:05, 27 August 2013 (UTC)
- Hi, could you undelete some of Pumpie's (socks') creations that I cleaned up? For instance Lianovergi, Chalcis railway station, Oinoi railway station, Oinoi, Boeotia, Kalochori-Panteichi, Leianokladi railway station, Palaiofarsalos railway station, Larissa railway station, Platy railway station, Adendro. Actually I checked all his railway stations articles, there were no false statements in them anymore. I think at least the larger stations are notable enough. So are his articles about populated places in Greece, corrected by me. Markussep Talk 18:30, 28 August 2013 (UTC)
- Dragonfly, I saw your message on Markussep's talkpage and have restored the ones listed above. We ran into this with Oh Yeaaahh; once someone has taken responsibility by cleaning up the pages, it's not obvious whether they should still be deleted, and since Markussep specifically listed these, I thought better to avoid the user-space step. But I'll now hold off and see what you two want to do; no objection to your moving these into Markussep's userspace for example. Yngvadottir (talk) 19:25, 28 August 2013 (UTC)

Dragon Rap221 and Louisiana communities
I noticed you deleted a bunch of the Louisiana community articles that User:Dragon Rap221 started, since that user was apparently a sockpuppet. I and a few other editors had improved several of those articles, and I could probably adopt and improve some of the others, so unless you have serious objections I'm planning to look through those and undelete several of them. Peace and Friendship station deletion
Hi. Regarding your speedy deletion of Peace and Friendship station, this was in fact just under AfD - Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/SEF tram stop - and the result of that AfD was there was no consensus to delete it, regardless of the ad hominem creation by a sock, and it was quickly re-directed to this title per the AfD discussion.. This should be restored. --Oakshade (talk) 00:35, 29 August 2013 (UTC)
The message of you
I'm the person who wrote the wiki article for the message of you. I saw that you deleted a large part if the article and at first I did not realize it was you and restored the full article but upon reading your comment I agree I posted to much. Would it be ok to repost the context category and not repost the previous stuff. That leaves out a lot but includes a thorough description of the book. The source I used is google books which gives you no way to contact the Arthur or purchase the book.
Please let me know. I understand you are a wiki moderator/editor and will not proceed without your ok

Hey, I wanted to check what we had in the stod sgar dpon article, but it turns out you deleted it yesterday. As I recall, it was a stub, but I don't remember it being unintelligible. Deletion NormDis
Dragonfly67, you deleted page "NormDis" because notability was not asserted. I was not aware that NormDis, a page created by me, was proposed for deletion. Just now, I tried the keyword "NormDis" on Google, and it appeared 2nd on the first page, owing to the large number of links to it. It is not without notability. Could the page be restored? Review my stub
Hello. I got a message in my feed thing saying you had "reviewed" my not-ready-for-prime-time Polish socialism article. What does that mean? Just a notifier that you'd look at it, felt that the idea of having it was OK, and so wanted to gently prod me to at least get it into a condition where it can be pasted up, thereby allowing others to help me develop further? My article was reviewed
Hello DragonflySixtyseven,
Can I call you Dragon? Recently my articles have started getting reviewed. I was informed you reviewed IRiDES. I assume you reviewed to consider it worthy enough to be a featured article. Would that be a correct assumption?
Best Regards --Cube b3 (talk) 22:00, 3 September 2013 (UTC)
- So it was an incorrect assumption. Wow, I am pretty sure I made that page at least 3 years ago.
Well better late then never.
Nonetheless I feel that is a very complete page and if you would like to see any more information on it I can add it. Can you please guide me on how I can get that page featured?--Cube b3 (talk) 03:32, 4 September 2013 (UTC)
Hello, DragonflySixtyseven. You've just deleted a page on W. Hock Hochheim and sited notability issues. I'm fairly speechless about this since we sited about 50 separate independent articles and a number of books that find him notable. Not to mention that the citizens of 11 countries find him notable. He is probably the most well recognized and well thought of trainer of his generation. So, Dragonfly, I respectfully inquire, what must we do to get his page back up? He's more than earned it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by MJEden2 (talk • contribs) 15:53, 4 September 2013 (UTC)

Creations by socks of banned user
Hi: I'm still uncertain of the exact state of policy/consensus with regard to pages created by a banned user that have been improved by others, and I see you have a note above from someone else requesting restoration of Peace and Friendship station, which was created by Oh Yeaaahh at SEF tram stop and was moved after an AfD that ended with no consensus. The articles created by Pumpie under his own name and as an IP were listed at a userpage of Markussep's and he, CPlakidas and to a much lesser extent, I have been checking them for mistranslations and unsupported assertions, as Markussep had started to do for the Greek stations created by the socks. That's why I simply restored those Markussep had asked for, but I stopped since I agree we don't want to enable him and you have a good point about userfication or simple recreation therefore being better. In any case, Artishert has now come along and recreated SEF tram stop and I see they are working a lot in the same area. I'm currently at work, which is not conducive to comparing his versions and deleted ones, and I hope it's just a rail maven who wants there to be articles on all these stations. But I thought you should be made aware. (I've pinged the other two who know Pumpie's work.) Yngvadottir (talk) 12:53, 6 September 2013 (UTC)
- Sigh, just confirmed at the sockpuppet investigation page. Yngvadottir (talk) 15:29, 6 September 2013 (UTC)

You explained
I patrolled your page. I went through the enormously-backlogged list of newly-created pages and confirmed that your page was okay: not spam, not an attack page, not a copyright violation, not any of the other reasons for which I would delete someone's page without asking. Then I clicked "patrolled" to remove it from the list of "pages that have not yet been patrolled", and moved on to the next entry. That's all.
- Your efforts are NOT APPRECIATED by me in any way, manner, shape or form; your motives are highly-suspected as manipulative with a good deal of referential material supported by astronomically high "N" numbers such that there is NO WAY you cannot be maladaptive. Thus, in future, it would be considered "healthy" if you would stay away from my and others') material. Thank you in advance for your cooperation. --John Bessa (talk) 14:46, 7 September 2013 (UTC)
