Notability of Dan nainan

[edit]

A tag has been placed on Dan nainan requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a real person, organization (band, club, company, etc.), or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not indicate the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. PMDrive1061 (talk) 15:01, 5 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Orphaned non-free media (Image:Dan Nainan.jpg)

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Dan Nainan.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 01:10, 6 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Request reason:

I have been accused of using this web site for vandalism but i have not in any way used it for such purpose. I have used it to make a valuable contribution. I have written an article about indian comedian Dan nainan. Eventhough i'm an amature and not a pro at wikipedia i tried to follow the guild lines. I have cited my sources with referesnes and proved why he is a notable person worthy of an wikipedia article. I don't know why my article got delted and being up for sevral days. I would like to put it back up and continue to work on it. Can you please review my block and see that i'm not a vandale and can you tell me why my article was marked for deletion. 16:31, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

Decline reason:

You did not establish with citations to reliable sources why Mr. Nainan was notable. You can use the {{hangon}} template, as the speedy deletion notice indicated. You are not supposed to repeatedly recreate the article ... that's disruptive editing. You were issued warnings, which you disregarded. Any further explanation needed? First i want to appoligise for any trouble i caused you or wikipedia it was not intentional

I did continue to repost the article but each time i added more and more infomation to it. I cited sources. one from the NYtimes and one from a 3rd party web site. I beleive i showed why he was notable :performed at major theators i.e the apollo. I had sources that i cited and was working on getting more when my article was deleted. I want to finish the article and how can we make this possible without the past being repeated.

I lookward to hearing from you

Thanks

Each time i reposted the article it was bigger and better than before. I will finish the article with all appropiate citations and then post it for review. Can you give me access to the sandbox and what ever else i would need to do this.

Starting new articles

[edit]

First, some reading material:

OK. Lets go over a couple of things. First of all, there is the concept of notability. In Wikipedia terms, this means that the subject of an article has received:

  1. extensive coverage in
  2. multiple
  3. reliable
  4. and independant sources

Extensive means that it is more than just a trivial mention. What is trivial? Well, for a comedian, a notice in a newpaper arts section that merely notes when and where the comedian will be performing... well thats trivial. An multiple-paragraph review of his work, a biography, an interview, etc. would all be extensive coverage. We need more than just one or two of these... that's where the multiple comes in. Reliable means that the source exhibits editorial control. Things like major daily newspapers, magazines, peer-reviewed journals, trade journals, and books published by major publishing houses are all reliable, as are websites of major news organization. Unreliable sources would include things like blogs, forums, bulletin boards, myspace, facebook, youtube, etc. that is anything where anyone can write anything and it isn't checked. Independent means that the person who wrote it has NO connection to the subject itself. Thus, a biography of the comedian at his own website, while IMPORTANT, and likely containing useful information for the article cannot of itself be used to establish notability. Now, lets say that such sources do not exist. The subject should not have an article at Wikipedia. Its that simple. Our next lesson will be on how to properly work on a draft article in your userspace. --Jayron32.talk.contribs 00:15, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Creating a draft article in your user namespace

[edit]

Wikipedia is divided into different "namespaces". This page, for example, is in the "User talk:" namespace. There's the "User:" namespace, which contains all of the userpages for different users. There's the "Help:" namespace, which contains manuals and tutorials for using the MediaWiki software. There's the "Wikipedia:" namespace, that contains all of the policies, procedures, and guidelines for using Wikipedia specifically, etc. There's also the article namespace (it has no prefix), which is where all of the articles themselves are kept. While Wikipedia has strict rules over what sorts of material should exist in the article namespace (see the last section on notability. Also WP:5P is a good guide to this as well). you are given much greater lee-way over the management of your user namespace.

In your user space, you can create subpages(see WP:SUBPAGE), which you could use to work on draft versions of articles. To create a subpage of your user space, go to your user page, and create the following link: [[/DRAFT]]. You could replace the word "draft" with anything you'd like. Then, click the link and create the page. This will create the page User:Nerdypunkkid/DRAFT. Since this is in your user space, you can use this subpage to work on an article before it is ready to go live as an article. This gives you time and leeway to make it meet all Wikipedia guidelines (see last section), and thus it won't keep getting instantly deleted. There are some restrictions even in your namespace. Any work done here should be at least tangentally related to building the encyclopedia. You should not us it to advertise or promote something or someone, you should not use it to attack or defame someone, you should not use your userspace as a place to simply goof off or chat with friends. However, since you plan on working on an article, you can clearly do that. Once the article is ready to go live, and be moved to the main space, drop me a note on my talk page, and I will look it over, and help you move it to the main space, if it is appropriate to do so. Hope this has been of some help. If you run into any more trouble, just drop a note on my talk page, and I'll see if I can help out! --Jayron32.talk.contribs 00:28, 9 May 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Unspecified source for Image:Neibich.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Neibich.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.

As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 00:02, 20 July 2008 (UTC). A tag has been placed on The message of you, requesting that it be deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which articles can be deleted at any time, without discussion. If the page meets any of these strictly-defined criteria, then it may be soon be deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been tagged are:

  • It seems to be unambiguous advertising which only promotes a company, product, group, service or person and would need to be fundamentally rewritten in order to become encyclopedic. (See section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) Please read the guidelines on spam and Wikipedia:FAQ/Business for more information.
  • It appears to be a clear copyright infringement. (See section G12 of the criteria for speedy deletion.) For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material, and as a consequence, your addition will most likely be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. This part is crucial: say it in your own words. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.

If the external website belongs to you, and you want to allow Wikipedia to use the text — which means allowing other people to modify it — then you must verify that externally by one of the processes explained at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. If you are not the owner of the external website but have permission from that owner, see Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission. However, even if you use one of these processes to release copyrighted material to Wikipedia, it still needs to comply with the other policies and guidelines to be eligible for inclusion. If you would like any assistance with this, you can ask a question at the help desk.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited The Comedy Bible, you added links pointing to the disambiguation pages Producers and Agents (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hello Nerdypunkkid. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Dan Nainan".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Dan Nainan}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 16:01, 16 December 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Your recent editing history at Dan Nanian shows that you are currently engaged in an edit war. Being involved in an edit war can result in your being blocked from editing—especially if you violate the three-revert rule, which states that an editor must not perform more than three reverts on a single page within a 24-hour period. Undoing another editor's work—whether in whole or in part, whether involving the same or different material each time—counts as a revert. Also keep in mind that while violating the three-revert rule often leads to a block, you can still be blocked for edit warring—even if you don't violate the three-revert rule—should your behavior indicate that you intend to continue reverting repeatedly.

To avoid being blocked, instead of reverting please consider using the article's talk page to work toward making a version that represents consensus among editors. See BRD for how this is done. If discussions reach an impasse, you can then post a request for help at a relevant noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, you may wish to request temporary page protection.

Addition of highly promotional content and reference spam.

[edit]

After looking at the history of Arise (musician), I can't help but notice that you have written a large number of very promotional, minimally sourced articles. In addition, you have been inserting commercial links into articles as references, always near the beginning, so they appear at the top of the ref-list. These links are for sites selling shipping containers, hand tools, boarding schools, beauty schools, insurance providers... What is the reason behind this edit? It doesn't support the sentence, and adds a link to a commercial beauty school for no good reason. This, and many other edits of yours like it... I can't see how it's anything other than WP:REFSPAM. These links add little or no value to the articles. Looking at your talk page, I can see that you've been banned in the past for promotional editing, so do you understand why this behavior is a problem? Please review WP:RS, and WP:NOTSOAP, and explain why you're doing this. Grayfell (talk) 05:54, 8 October 2014 (UTC)[reply]

In the course of your changes you removed several sections of sourced content without an explanation. Why did you remove it? Regards, Yamaguchi先生 18:20, 2 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Not much was exactly removed a word here and word there. A citation was added and dead link removed. and two paragraphs were consolidated into another section but left unaltered.
