Claus von Bülow
The movie Reversal of Fortune is literally, as is made clear in that article, about Claus. It seems absurd to not link to it in that section. What sourcing do you think is missing? --104.142.116.141 (talk) 20:38, 19 February 2019 (UTC)
- Per WP:IPCV, if you want to list it as an "In popular culture"-style item, you need to provide a third-party source establishing that it's considered significant. Hopefully easy enough to do given the film has its own article, though note that reviews don't establish significance (we'd expect film reviewers to review films). You may want to consider a WP:SEEALSO instead, if sourcing establishing that the film was considered significant is elusive. I hope this helps! DonIago (talk) 21:13, 19 February 2019 (UTC)

- It's to keep Wikipedia articles from becoming bloated with indiscriminate information. As I like to put it, we want to establish not just that a tree fell in the woods, but that it made a sound when it did. Or, on a more practical level, Citizen Kane has been referenced hundreds if not thousands of times...how do we distinguish between the ones that "mattered" and the ones that were "just another reference to Citizen Kane"? We do so by providing sources. Hope this helps. DonIago (talk) 14:04, 20 February 2019 (UTC)

Spammer
Hi.
I am not a regular editor in this Wikipedia. Actually, I'm Brazilian and my edits are on Portuguese Wikipedia.
I would like you to look at Mnsxzvw (talk · contribs · count) editions. In Portuguese Wikipedia, he would be considered a spammer, for being posting links to a pirate movie viewer to movie articles. What do you think?
Good editions. Yanguas (talk) 04:16, 27 February 2019 (UTC)

Rope (Hitchcock)
Hi, a possible source for the edits due to limited film reel could be the DVD, which includes a documentary called "Rope Unleashed". - Redmess (talk) 20:12, 9 March 2019 (UTC)
- Possibly? Unfortunately I don't have access to it. Maybe ask at the article's Talk page? Good hunting! DonIago (talk) 04:29, 10 March 2019 (UTC)

Factual Errors on The Towering Inferno
Hi there, I received a notice about an edit to the Towering Inferno page and was directed here in the event that you made a mistake. I'm afraid I can't get you a legitimate copy of the film to watch, as I watched it myself online, but in the version I watched (accessible at https://www.putlockers.me/movie/the-towering-inferno-5076.html), it very clearly states at 2:43:49, "Steve McQueen as Chief O'Hallorhan", contrary to the Wiki page's entry, "Steve McQueen as Michael O'Halloran". After watching the film myself, I changed the entry to the correct spelling; to that end, I believe your assessment, "(General note: Introducing factual errors on The Towering Inferno. (TW) (No difference)", is a mistake, since the spelling "O'Halloran" was changed to "O'Hallorhan", as it appears in the source material. I resisted the temptation to change the first name from "Michael", by which he is never referred in the film nor the credits, to "Mike", which he is called occasionally, since the names are usually used interchangeably anyway, but surname spellings usually are not. I fear that, were I to revert the reversion myself, I could be liable to find myself in a dispute, (if I haven't already,) so I'll wait to hear from you before I make any further corrections to the unsourced information on the page. Sorry for the confusion. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.45.143.130 (talk) 09:29, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thanks for reaching out to me! What concerned me most was that you changed the Cast section but didn't update the Plot accordingly (making the article inconsistent), and also that you didn't leave an edit summary to explain why you were making the change.
- I'm afraid I'm unable to view the link you provided, but I did see that IMDb has the spelling as "O'Hallorhan" and have updated the spelling throughout the article. Thank you for bringing this to my attention! DonIago (talk) 12:53, 26 March 2019 (UTC)
- Thank you very much, and I apologize for being combative, it's exam season and my institution is not kind about it. I'm not a regular contributor, and I didn't know about the edit summary protocol, nor was I sharp-of-mind enough to catch the other instances of the name throughout the article, so thank you very much for bearing with me and correcting my own mistakes (especially politely, I appreciate that a lot). I'll try to remember that in the future. Have a good one! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 206.45.143.130 (talk) 05:58, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
- You've very welcome! I greatly appreciate your coming to me with your concerns in a civil manner as well. I find your concerns that you were "combative" amusing, as I've definitely had similar concerns brought forward more in a "Who made you the God of Wikipedia???!!!???!!!" manner.
- If you do stick around, my next tip would be that when commenting on a Talk page, you should sign your post by adding four tildes (~) at the end of it. Happy editing, and good luck with the exams! DonIago (talk) 13:45, 29 March 2019 (UTC)
