Wikipedia Campus Ambassadors wanted at LSU
Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you are listed as a Wikipedian in Louisiana. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors to help with Wikipedia assignments at Louisiana State University, which will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester. The role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.
Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).
If you live near Baton Rouge and you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone else from the area who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page.--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 17:11, 6 December 2010 (UTC)
Delayed response
You may have forgotten it by now, but over a year ago, you asked this question at Help talk:Files. Well, no one ever answered it, so I moved it to the help desk. I don't know the answer, but I'm sure someone sitting at the help desk will answer it shortly. Happy editing! pluma Ø 02:46, 24 October 2011 (UTC)
Thank You for the Wikipedia Picture
Hello, My name is Duane Hurst and I recently made a free (non-commercial) English web site to share information with people. I added links to your Wikipedia/Wikimedia freeware picture. I also gave credit to you on my web pages for your work. Thank you for sharing with the public. My website is:
http://www.freeenglishsite.com/
I also am a "Mormon" and my web site has a Mormon section that contains my Book of Mormon map (pictures of actual locations), my translation of Egyptian hieroglyphs from the Book of Abraham, and other items. I have shared and discussed these with various LDS general authorities and given many fireside presentations about them in Japan, Thailand and USA. My web site sections about the USA and World also have LDS membership and temple information for each country.
I add pictures such as yours to one of the following major sections of my site: 1. World section - contains information and over 10,000 images of every world country and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/index.htm
2. USA section - contains information and images of every USA state and territory. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/world/usa/index.htm
3. English section - "Mel and Wes" lessons in conversation format. Stories are located in various USA states and world countries such as China, England, Germany, Japan, Mexico and Thailand. Each lesson has many slang terms and idioms, which I link to my Slang Dictionary. This eventually will have over 5,000 terms. Currently, it has about 3,000 slang and idioms. I regularly add new lessons and slang terms. Link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/lessons/index.htm Slang Dictionary link at: http://www.freeenglishsite.com/english/slang/Eslang_a.htm
Prior to retirement, I taught English at several private and public universities in the United States.
Please share this free site with your friends. I hope all will enjoy the pictures and find the English information useful. Sincerely,
--75.169.8.9 (talk) 15:51, 8 December 2012 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Lane departure warning system, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Ford Fusion (check to confirm | fix with Dab solver). Bacolod Philippines Temple moved to draftspace
An article you recently created, Bacolod Philippines Temple, is not suitable as written to remain published. The temple doesn’t need to have been built but it needs in depth coverage in independent sources. It needs more citations from reliable, independent sources. (?) Information that can't be referenced should be removed (verifiability is of central importance on Wikipedia). I've moved your draft to draftspace (with a prefix of "Draft:
" before the article title) where you can incubate the article with minimal disruption. When you feel the article meets Wikipedia's general notability guideline and thus is ready for mainspace, please click on the "Submit your draft for review!" button at the top of the page. Utah map - great!
Thanks for creating a File:Wasatch_Front.png map, and hooking it up to https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Church_of_Jesus_Christ_of_Latter-day_Saints_in_Utah and https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_temples_of_The_Church_of_Jesus_Christ_of_Latter-day_Saints_by_geographic_region. - MeekMark, yes it was getting crowded which is why I created it. I also combined all regions of the US (with exceptions of the Wasach front) into one map. The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico.
I'm new to editing articles on Wikipedia but I noticed some incorrect information for the page titled, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Mexico. I tried to edit the information but it doesn't seem to be showing up. Since you have made edits before, can you add this information in? It is in regards to the first native people baptized in Mexico. In 1876 Brigham Young sent out Elders to Mexico and instructed them to contact and preach to the Yaqui Indians. They were Elder Helaman Pratt, Meliton Trejo Gonzalez, Louis Garff, George Terry, James Z. Stewart and his brother Isaac. Elders Pratt, Terry and Garff found success in Hermosillo and on May 20, 1877 baptized Jose Epifanio Jesus and a few days later on May 24th baptized Jose Severo Rodriguez, Maria de la Cruz Pasos, Cruz Parra and Jose Vicente Parra. Maria de la Cruz Pasos was the first female baptized in Mexico and Jose Epifanio Jesus was the first male. The source for this information is found in the Deseret news from an article written August 3, 2002 entitled, "Early Missionary Journey to Sonora". The information had been gathered by Elder Hugo Montoya who is a General Authority Seventy of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He was serving as in the Mexico Temple at the time that he gathered the correct information. --MopcambmMalolo
- MopcamMalolo, Thank you for your input and contributions! I'm not sure why your edits aren't showing up. I'll review this and make the appropreate changes.Dmm1169 (talk) 16:08, 11 April 2021 (UTC)
Thank you for your corrections! There is just one more. This statement is incorrect "Desideria Quintanar de Yáñez became the first woman in Mexico to join the church." She was baptized after Maria de la Cruz Pasos so the statement makes the history section a little confusing. She could be listed as the second woman to be baptized in Mexico because I don't want her name taken out completely...Or maybe the first woman in Mexico City. Thank you! MM
- MM, In transcribing from what you put down to LDS in Mexico, I simply listed the group as the first baptisms in Mexico rather than saying first man/woman.
Yes, thank you for that! The first man and woman listed as baptized statement was part of the original information in the history paragraph before any changes were added. I added the word City to the later original sentence so it reads that Desideria...is the first woman in Mexico City to join the Church, because the new information stated that Maria was the first baptized. The edit seems to work. It sounds a little more clear to me. It matches the information that Plotino was the first man in Mexico City to join. So now there is the first group of five people that were baptized, then 2 and 3 sentences after that information it lists the first 2 to join in Mexico City--Plotino and Desideria. So I believe that information is a little clearer as to the order of those baptized. Those are all the changes that I requested. Again, thank you for your help.

LDS country templates
Hi I wonder what's the purpose of creating the various Template:LDS in Country/Foo as separate templates? It doesn't seem like they're going to be used anywhere except in the main The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Foo articles, in which case it would be better to place the content in those articles directly. The naming, which uses a slash, also results in fake WP:subpage-like titles that aren't really subpages because Template:LDS in Country doesn't exist. Maybe what you want to do would be to create Template:Infobox LDS in country and have it take relevant parameters and pass it to the main infobox template? --Paul_012 (talk) 04:25, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Thank you for your advice! Looking at this I agree to include it in the individual pages rather than its own template. I'm not sure how to create an infobox with parameters. The intent was to link the templates to the infobox with parameters, but I'm not sure how to make an infobox with parameters.Dmm1169 (talk) 04:40, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- I think I got it. I've created Template:LDS in Country using copied an pasted values and only changed the name. After that, I tried Cambodia, and it seems to work. I did not include the work Infobox in the template name so I hope that doesn't matter. If it does, let me know.Dmm1169 (talk) 05:55, 2 May 2021 (UTC)
- Including "infobox" in the name isn't technically necessary, though following the standard naming scheme will help keep things easier to maintain in the long term. (Templates can be renamed using the normal "Move" function; redirects work with them as well.) It's also more usual to use lower case for the parameters, i.e.
| data1 = {{{membership|}}}
instead of| data1 = {{{Membership|}}}
(parameter names are case-sensitive). I've moved the category to the documentation subpage. Other than that, it seems to be working mostly well. --Paul_012 (talk) 12:52, 2 May 2021 (UTC)

Recent change to Template:LDS-Temples-Geo
I see you recently changed the entire structure of Template:LDS-Temples-Geo. I do not oppose the idea of restructuring it to avoid a need for constant updates; that's probably a good idea. However, the change caused it to no longer display correctly on Comparison of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. It seems to display correctly on all other pages currently using it, but not that one. As far as I can tell, there is no problem with the coding on the "Comparison" page itself, and the issue must be with the actual template. This is not my area of expertise, so perhaps you could figure out why? Otherwise, the change should probably be reverted until it can be done in a manner that preserves its functionality on all pages transcluding it. Just my two cents. And thanks for all your work on the maps! Jdaloner (talk) 07:23, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- Update: The problem isn't necessarily with the template itself; the problem is that Comparison of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints now includes too many expanded templates, mostly due to the increased number of temples. I had never encountered this before; it's apparently called the "Post-expand include size" and is explained at WP:PEIS. I updated the "Comparison" page to include all announced temples but had to hide many rows at the end (as well as the LDS-Temples-Geo navbox) to avoid getting the error message. (See my edit here.) So as to Template:LDS-Temples-Geo, it seems my concern was unfounded. The issue (which will be clearly be even more of an issue as time goes on and more temples are announced) is with the "Comparison" page and all the data it's pulling in. Sorry to have taken your time, but thank you for reading. Jdaloner (talk) 10:14, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
- Jdaloner, The page size is a little more than 25k. That being said, List of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is more than 30k, pulls in data for more temples (includes discontinued plans or no longer operating). So I don't know why other than maybe the way it lays out the table. It won't take any smaller, simpler templates either. Template:LDS Temple list is also larger than Template:LDS Temple compare. It's definitely size. My only thought is that less size is allocated to Comparison of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints than for other pages.--Dmm1169 (talk) 21:29, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
The church has announced this temple will be constructed at the Expo 2020 location after the expo is completed. I've left the status as "Announced" rather than "Site Announced" for the reason, at least from my knowledge, the exact location within the World Expo Site has not been announced. Any thoughts on this? Should it be moved or left where it is?--Dmm1169 (talk) 22:11, 1 November 2021 (UTC)

LDS template
The missing close on the ref was one problem. Fixing that changed the error - there is no such parameter. Just look at the infobox and you can see that it doesn't display. Also, the article is now in Category:Pages using infobox LDS Temple with unknown parameters MB 17:06, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
- MB, The parameter is used in Template:LDS Temple list, Template:LDS Temple list2, Template:LDS Temple compare, and some sandboxes. It has not been added to the infobox as a number of temples have not had that field added as of yet. This field was added due to receptiveness within notes and length of List of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which another user complained about it's length. This is being inserted to simplify the template and allow removal of many notes. I went ahead and updated the List of Fields table on Template:LDS Temple. Thanks. - Dmm1169 (talk) 17:21, 20 April 2022 (UTC)
Thanks for your ongoing efforts
Hello. Just wanted to drop a note to thank you for your ongoing efforts to improve Wikipedia. Your solution to the problems I mentioned with this article was appreciated, and I see you have continued to work here, where the page history has desperately needed expansion to fill in the gaps for years. I had thought about thanking you usig the feature on the necessary pages, but decided that wouldn't be as adequate as a personal message here. You're doing great work here. Keep it up! If there are other Church-related pages to which you want to contribute but might have questions about, I'd be happy to address those for you. We are also in the process of attempting to draft new notability guidelines for pages about the Church, and I'd invite you to weigh in on that process if you feel so inclined. Thanks again for all you are doing. --Jgstokes (talk) 05:04, 3 May 2022 (UTC)

- Jgstokes, Thank you for your observations. Looked at the wrong number. Yes it's 172. I looked at the end of the wrong table. Grammar is my weakness and I need to do better on it. I've gotten dependent on spellcheck and that's not always a good thing (and I almost let spellcheck use the word defendant rather than dependent). I went ahead and made those corrections. Dmm1169 (talk) 12:16, 2 June 2022 (UTC)
- @Dmm1169:. glad to hear you found my comments helpful. I always worry when offering feedback in scenarios like this that I may unintentionally offend someoe by something I've said, so I do a fair amount of second-guessing myself in some cases when I offer feedback here. I know we all have individual strenghts and weaknesses. One of your strengths that I've noticed is being able to see issues with the current format of pages like this one and being able to draft workable solutions for those issues. That's something I've appreciated both on this page and on Area (LDS Church), where you've been instrumental in improving the layout of information. I hope you know how much I appreciate that. Among my strengths are attention to detail on spelling, grammar, and context, but I will also be the first to admit that brevity and tact are not my strong suits by any measure. So sometimes, in settings like these, I can make comments boldly in the moment, but often second-guess myself after the fact. So it helps to know that my comments were received by you in the spirit in which they were given. I appreciate the chance to work with you here and look forward to continuing to do so to improve articles about the Church. Keep up the great work! Jgstokes (talk) 21:23, 4 June 2022 (UTC)
- Jgstokes, Thank you! I've moved this string of comments to my personal talk page since it's more of a personal discussion rather than a discussion directly relating to the topic. I would like to see what others may comment and what Trodel might propose. He defiantly had sentimental ties to the old format. I tried to preserve the old format in previous versions, but realized that a simplification overhaul was needed. You had mentioned about rededication dates in your previous post, and realized it was absent from the temple compare page, so I split the table and added that in. It would have been a mess trying to add it into this table and keep other features such as sortable tables. I've realized I can't make anyone happy.
- On another topic, how important do you think it will to add rededication2&3? I think if we're going to show one, we might as well show all, but it takes a lot of work. It's much easier to add additional fields if a field is already being added (part of why I'm adding rededication 3 - which hasn't happened yet). If we're to do that do you know of other fields that may need to be added? I was thinking about adding open house dates for rededication 2&3 if added, but any other field where information is available but not included?
- By next general conference, I would like these fields included in all new temples with it gradually expanding to all existing templates (it's easy to add it on new templates). Once it's added to all templates, it could be then added to templates like infobox, temple compare, possibly Temple list2 (used in state/country pages), and wherever else one might see fit. Thanks -- Dmm1169 (talk) 03:19, 5 June 2022 (UTC)
Duplicate Categories
Hello, Dmm1169,
You created both Category:Independant State of Croatia location map modules and Category:Independent State of Croatia location map modules. I would think that "Independent" would be the correct spelling but it's the empty category. Before it gets deleted in a few days as CSD C1, are you sure that "Independant" is the correct spelling for a map module category? If not, we can recategorize the pages and tag the correct category. Thank you. Liz Read! Talk! 20:27, 6 June 2022 (UTC)
- Liz, Thank you for noticing this! I was creating a number of module categories at that time in effort to clean up the categories, and to reduce number of pages to thumb through on the header categories and I overlooked spelling. I've moved the pages to Category:Independent State of Croatia location map modules the Category:Independant State of Croatia location map modules is the one that needs to be removed. --Dmm1169 (talk) 13:11, 7 June 2022 (UTC)

- I put extensive effort in adding/updating missions created since the 1970's That being said, while I'd like for correctiveness and accuracy, I know there's errors; I went through a lot of data in a relatively short amount of time. There's a lot I would like to do to improve the table, both in format and accuracy. However, I've got other pressing issues I've got to handle right now, and I'm only one person. Wikipedia is a collaborative effort and I'm hoping others will join in.
- Past Deseret News Church Almanac (particularly ones published in the early 2000's) has a compiled list of these. I'm not sure if their list is fully accurate as I found a few errors with theirs along the way, but it's the most comprehensive list according to the source. Another source for current missions and boundaries is classic lds maps, is no longer going to be accessible to me after August according to the banner at top of page. This is what I used to confirm what missions are located where (ie. missions cross state lines). I don't have a direct source of that kind of info once that page is removed.
- For recent opening and closings, I simply did a search for "new missions [year]", as there's usually multiple articles showing what has been added removed. However, some may not appear and can be overlooked.--Dmm1169 (talk) 13:12, 16 July 2022 (UTC)
Your ongoing work on Area (LDS Church)
Hello. I just wanted to thank you again for your ongoing efforts to improve Area (LDS Church). The last time most of the areas had statistical updates was 2019, and that was primarily because it was difficult to track down area statistics, so for those areas, I had to find the statistical data on each individual nation (or in the case of the US, state, or province or territory, in the case of Canada), then run the totals myself. Your untiring efforts to find, compile, and list the relevant statistics for every area have been inspiring to watch. Thanks so much for putting in all of that work, and keep it up! Comparison of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints
Hi Dmm1169. I trust that you know more than I do about Comparison of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Any reason for the inclusion of the word "comparison" in the title? Yes I understand that the sortable columns enable the reader to compare like for like, but the page per se is not a comparison. Any light? Thanks. Rui ''Gabriel'' Correia (talk) 14:18, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
- It was how it was named when I first came across it. I think it was named that way to distinguish itself from List of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints which was a totally different list which until recently used a template with multiple rows per temple that prevented the ability to sort and compare. The biggest difference between the two is this is able to sort between different features and temple events of all temples and comparison has a lot more fields that could be sorted through while the list page is a more simple list. You have any suggestions on what the page name should be? Thanks.--Dmm1169 (talk) 14:27, 16 August 2022 (UTC)
LDS stat US template flags
Hi - on your Template:LDS stat US template, it looks like Georgia gets the flag of the country, not the flag of the state (see here). I'm not experienced enough with Wikipedia to know how to fix this. Auvon (talk) 23:22, 20 August 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for bringing this up! The default use of Georgia in Wikipedia is the country. I'll try to make an exception rule that applies to the state so the correct state flag appears. Thanks--Dmm1169 (talk) 00:57, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
- The issue is now fixed. Dmm1169 (talk) 01:30, 21 August 2022 (UTC)
What is the plan for {{LDS State/Maine}} and its sibling templates?
In March and April 2022, you created {{LDS State/Maine}} and similar templates for other US states. None, or nearly none, of them are used. Do you have a plan for them? Unused templates are typically deleted from template space. Thanks. – Jonesey95 (talk) 05:48, 16 October 2022 (UTC)
- Yes it probably needs to be deleted. When creating it, I thought it would help, but realized they weren't necessary. Thanks --Dmm1169 (talk) 00:59, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
- Thanks for the response, and for tagging them. That will help reduce the size of our unused template reports. – Jonesey95 (talk) 01:11, 17 October 2022 (UTC)
LDS Church in US States articles
Just FYI - It would appear that despite the null result of the Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Bulgaria discussion, the various LDS Church in US States articles were blanked-and-redirected without additional discussion or renomination to see if the status quo should change. I've reverted a few, given the existence of previous discussions and mention in that AFD, but I am tired and was not involved in the previous discussions so I just wanted to let you know. This potentially affects some of the templates you've been working on. --FyzixFighter (talk) 03:14, 25 October 2022 (UTC)

Conflict of interest
I don't think that you can edit in the LDS space from an objective point of view. You need to be able to set aside your personal beliefs and it doesn't look like you can. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 15:05, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- Horse Eye's BackPlease clarify. Any particular personal beliefs you're talking about? Examples? Anything you want to add to LDS Space? Thanks. --Dmm1169 (talk) 20:25, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- I use Wikipedia to share knowledge; not to advertise. I rarely create/edit pages that pertain to LDS doctrine. My main focus when creating/editing pages on Wikipedia concerning the LDS Church has been regional geography, regional history, and stats. I also do a lot of editing on temple pages. I try to include third party referencing where I can put it. I'm not sure what personal belief Horse Eye is talking about, as I've only stated facts and history as I could find it. I don't like it when I'm the only one contributing and welcome others to contribute as long as it's accurate and according to Wikipedia policy. I don't get paid or receive any kind of benefits for doing this, but do it anyway. I also do not condone vandalism of any type on any page. Being a member does give insight on some things that the general public doesn't have access to.
- For certain things I do use the LDS Church as a source. One example is membership count, just like the US Census Bureau is used for population counts. The LDS Church has records of its members in each state and country and it's simply a count of them. I've had reservations of using it as it's a count of members and not a count of people at church each Sunday. This is explained in Membership defined which I've linked from every page I've created that use these statistics and Membership considerations that follows that section. That being said, I try to also include every third party survey polling along side this count where I see its available - which I'm able to find for each US state and some countries, but I've had a hard time finding these surveys in most countries where membership data is available. There are some areas where the membership declined. I still post and show it regardless, as my intent is to show facts and not opinion. Thanks.--Dmm1169 (talk) 23:53, 25 October 2022 (UTC)
- The problem here is that editors are required to edit the topic spaces they edit objectively, you creating articles for the regional geography, regional history, and stats of the LDS church which don't meet WP:GNG suggests that you lack that objectivity. Only create topics for articles which meet WP:GNG, if you can't edit the topic area objectively you can't edit it at all. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 14:36, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- I see nothing in WP:GNG that states members of an organization cannot edit pages related to that organization. The LDS church one of a number of denominations/faiths that have articles concerning regional geography, history, etc. These pages have survived multiple Requests for deletion concerning the matter and improvements have been made to new pages as a result of it. Older pages may have non-statistical sourced LDS Church sourced content and is slowly being corrected (my time is limited). Feel free to edit and make those changes. Some LDS Church sourced info is still used primarily for statistical purposes as the LDS Church is the sole source of that information. This is similarly done with other denomination/faith regional pages. Third party stats, when available, are given next to this content but I've found to be extremely limited and hard to find - especially outside the US. Dmm1169 (talk) 15:34, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- If you continue to mass create pages that lack notability it will be a major problem. ––FormalDude (talk) 15:47, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- If you're referring to the LDS in State/Country pages, a consensus has not found lack of notability in any of the discussion I've seen concerning the matter, and were created one by one over about a decade and a half - majority of Wikipedia's existance. While I created most, there are a number that were not created by me. In recent history, I've been mostly creating/editing templates such as location maps (for use in any wikipedia page) and temple templates so that multiple rededications could be shown in infoboxes, making some updates to existing pages, and addressing comments like this one. I want Wikipedia to continue to be a reliable source of information and knowledge, and the growing wealth of knowledge (within Wikipedia standards and guidelines) will do that.--Dmm1169 (talk) 17:01, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

- https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/ has been used on Wikipedia across all LDS Church Temple pages since at least 2006. In comparison, Wikipedia was launched in 2001. It's now 16 years later and you're the first I've seen that has classified it as a fansite, or that I've seen contested its use on Wikipedia. As for listing of stakes, it's the most accurate and most updated than all third party sites I've seen. I by far am not the only one that uses this on Wikipedia and recommend a broad discussion be launched in order to determine its credibility before changing its current use.--Dmm1169 (talk) 17:39, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- Its been a clear and obvious fansite the entire time... It shouldn't have been adde 16 years ago and shouldn't be added tomorrow. Anyone who can't discern that it isn't a WP:RS upon examination has WP:COMPETENCE issues. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 17:42, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- https://churchofjesuschristtemples.org/ has been actively in use on Wikipedia since at least 2004 - 3 years after Wikipedia's launch date in 2001. This needs to go to discussion needs to be conducted concerning this page before labeling it as a non-reliable source as its a much broader issue than between you and me. Thanks.-- Dmm1169 (talk) 17:48, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

- The best amateur SPS in the world can't be used on wikipedia like that, see WP:SPS. Just to be clear you don't run it and don't have any relationship with the person who does, right? Horse Eye's Back (talk) 18:10, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- That is correct. I've had no collaboration or contributions to that website, nor do I even know who they are. The reason I know about this page is through Wikipedia. It contains detailed info that I'm not able to see from the church website such as the list of stakes and detailed construction updates, which everything I've been able to personally verify has been correct and accurate in that website, which is why I've trusted it.
- If using this website is an issue with Wikipedia's policy and guidelines. A discussion between you and me is not going to resolve it due to its extensive use, which is why I recommended it to go to a broad discussion page with parties using it being made aware. I'm not sure what page would be best. Maybe the talk section of List of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, but even with that, I know we'll still miss a lot of parties using it as there's a wholes slew of temple and other pages using it. Changing at least 18 years of edits made by various individuals I'm guessing will not be an easy task. Dmm1169 (talk) 19:08, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- Oh, don't worry about that part... Its not a lot of uses, it can be done in a few hours. I've cleaned up wayyyyy more extensively used sources before. Unless we have someone arguing that its not an amateur self published source theres no discussion to have. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 19:11, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- I definitely don't know the source and I doesn't appear that website is an amatuar. It seems like whoever it is, they have access to information from the Church temple department or maybe a contractor. Again, I don't know. I'm a member that currently lives in Arkansas with no rights or privileges to this information. I don't see anything that would be contrary for use as a reference, especially on factual grounds. If a discussion is held, this information maybe figured out. But it would highly surprise me if it's the work of a amateur self-published source. Dmm1169 (talk) 20:44, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- What are you seeing which suggests that the fansite's maintainer, Rick Satterfield [1], is a recognized and published expert in his field? He doesn't even have any academic credentials in the field. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 20:48, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- I don't know Rick Satterfield. You're really talking to someone that doesn't know who runs this site. I wouldn't imagine it being a single person running it, but that's only my guess. I've created a discussion section located at Talk:List of temples of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in effort to seek broader input on this. Hopefully, we'll figure something out one way or the other concerning this, as these questions are above and beyond what I can answer. Thanks.-- Dmm1169 (talk) 21:08, 26 October 2022 (UTC)

Another example of lacking objectivity...
You've repeatedly made the claim that you are "added stakes section (similar to a small diocese) with third party referencing to temple districts." which is an untruth, those are primary sources. Horse Eye's Back (talk) 14:51, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
Every single one of these needs to be removed[3]. You're an objective editor in this topic space so I can trust you to do the removals, right? Horse Eye's Back (talk) 15:12, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
- You bring up a good consideration on whether it's a fansite. What's the difference between this page and other pages dedicated to prominent buildings/structures. Are they all fansites? I was made aware of this website from its already extensive use on other Wikipedia pages (ie. List of Temples). I have no access to post anything on this website. This is the first condemnation I've seen concerning use of this reference. I would like to see a discussion on this prior to removal. As for listing of stakes; it seems consistent on what's done with other regional religion/denomination pages, but with limitations of use (ie. not when the list is extensively long). I've had conversations in the past concerning this on some of the talk pages, so an abrupt change in this will probably need a discussion.Dmm1169 (talk) 16:30, 26 October 2022 (UTC)
