I have reedited this - comments? Regards,Timpo (talk) 11:55, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

The new version looks okay from a copyright point of view. Thanks,— Diannaa (talk) 12:12, 1 September 2021 (UTC)

Sorbus arvonensis

Hi Diannaa! Could you perform a quick RD1 at Sorbus arvonensis? The range is from the first revision to the revision at 23:08 (inclusive) and the URL is [1]. An editor keeps removing the template and I think it's easiest for all involved if an administrator could just do it directly. DanCherek (talk) 00:21, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

Done. NPA warning given as well, for the comments in the edit summary Diff of Sorbus arvonensis. — Diannaa (talk) 00:36, 2 September 2021 (UTC)
Many thanks! DanCherek (talk) 00:38, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

Thank you for the message. I understand the problem. I'd like to re-add the content and use quotations and paraphrasing as it's mandated in your message, but I cannot see my revision and I don't know what exact content you deleted. Can you help me at this? Metalune (talk) 00:48, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

I can send it to you via email, but you will have to activate your Wikipedia email first.— Diannaa (talk) 01:10, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

I'm fairly sure that a person is a "member of" something, not "member in", at least that's my opinion. MattSucci (talk) 01:56, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

But we're not saying "member of", we're saying "membership in". Not the same thing.— Diannaa (talk) 02:48, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

Dear Dianna,

I recently added more information to the Dubai Holding Page and was curious to know why my edits and others were cut down?

Best wishes, Maram Alkayed— Preceding unsigned comment added by MaryTkayed (talkcontribs)

Almost all the content you added was copied from other Wikipedia articles. It's not necessary to include all that content on all those subsidiaries to the Dubai Holding page. If the reader is interested, they can click on the wikilinks.
Also, when you copy from one Wikipedia article to another, you need to provide attribution. This is done by saying in your edit summary that the material was copied, and where you got it. Please have a look at this edit summary for an example of how it is done. Please let me know if you have any questions, or have a look at WP:Copying within Wikipedia for more information. Thanks, — Diannaa (talk) 12:50, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

Got it, thank you!

Hi Diannaa,

I was going through some of the changes I made recently and I saw that you left a message on my talk page about the 8th United Infantry (as you can tell I don't check it much). The following is the message you sent me:

Control copyright icon Hello Dougl6cm, and welcome to Wikipedia. All or some of your addition(s) to 8th Infantry Regiment (United States) have been removed, as they appear to have added copyrighted material without evidence of permission from the copyright holder. While we appreciate your contributions to Wikipedia, there are certain things you must keep in mind about using information from sources to avoid copyright and plagiarism issues here.
It's very important that contributors understand and follow these practices, as policy requires that people who persistently do not must be blocked from editing. If you have any questions about this, you are welcome to leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you. — Diannaa 🍁 (talk) 10:01, 3 June 2018 (UTC)

I object to being accused of plagiarism for two reasons. The source I copied it from is A compendium of the war of the rebellion which was written by Frederick H. Dyer in 1908, and because of the age of the book the copyright has expired and it is in the public domain, and it can be found online at the internet archive and many other places. The exact text is on page 1711. Additionally, to help make sure I did not unintentionally violate Wikipedia's rules at the time (3 June 2018), I also looked at many other regiments that had fought in the American Civil War and many of them had copied directly from the Compendium. Some examples are the 106th New York Infantry Regiment, 82nd Pennsylvania Infantry Regiment, 40th Ohio Infantry Regiment, 2nd Missouri Infantry Regiment (Union) and the 15th Missouri Infantry Regiment.

Sorry for the mistake.— Diannaa (talk) 19:19, 2 September 2021 (UTC)

Thanks

Thank you for copy-editing my edits on The Hague Convention for child abduction. It's a small edit, but a breath of fresh air. Rarely anyone ever gets involved with my edits on these law articles, which makes editing them a lonely work. Cheers. HollerithPunchCard (talk) 13:21, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

Maybe this article should be amended then to clarify that it was not just Britain and France that declared war, as it gives that impression to readers in the "Outbreak of war in Europe" section? Rodericksilly (talk) 16:42, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

Hey, if you've got some sourced content to add, go for it. You should be able to find a citation in Shirer or Evans— Diannaa (talk) 19:03, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
The article could actually use a lot more citations and improvements throughout.— Diannaa (talk) 19:05, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

Copyvio questions

Hi Diannaa, would a straight copy of the list found at https://rewindtv.com/interactive-affiliate-map/ be considered a copyvio? It's a verbatim copy, including all formatting and capitalization. It was originally added to Rewind TV at this diff. I copied the content over to List of Rewind TV affiliates to use as a basis for a list article, but then realized it was copied verbatim from the website. To be safe, I've tagged the first for a revdel, and the list article for deletion, intending to start from fresh there afterwards. An IP user has contended the deletion at Talk:List of Rewind TV affiliates#Contested deletion. Can you double-check all this for me? If it's fine, then no worries, and I'll continue to work on the list to make it compatible with Wikipedia's MOS. Thanks. BilCat (talk) 22:33, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

It's an alphabetical list, by state and then by city. So it's not a copyright issue in my opinion. If you want to start over and organize the list in some other way, you could tag it for {{Db-g7}} (one author who requests deletion)— Diannaa (talk) 23:40, 6 September 2021 (UTC)
OK, thanks. I've tagged it as G7. (Sorry if I'm being too "anal" about some of these issues, but I'd rather err on the side of caution.) BilCat (talk) 23:50, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

IP editor continuing to add copyvio after warning

Special:Contributions/187.162.37.96 has contributed many copyvio episode summaries to articles about The Real Housewives. They were warned about this on July 24, but gave no indication that they saw the warning, and have continued to add more copyvio across multiple articles over the course of more than a month. Example diffs: Special:Diff/1041873336, Special:Diff/1038319357, Special:Diff/1036986508.

I'm wondering if a block would be appropriate, or if you have other suggestions for how this behaviour could be addressed? Thanks. Colin M (talk) 23:42, 6 September 2021 (UTC)

I have added a more specific warning. I usually don't block after one warning. Please let me know if the situation does not improve.— Diannaa (talk) 00:18, 7 September 2021 (UTC)
Makes sense. Thanks for the help. Colin M (talk) 00:43, 7 September 2021 (UTC)

Question

Hi Diannaa! Quick question. For this article I used a chunk of machine-translated from a Spanish source. I have given the source at the end of the text (named ref "MILENIO"). Am I OK , copyright-wise? Thanks. --- Possibly 03:24, 9 September 2021 (UTC)

No you are not ok copyright-wise if the source is copyright.— Diannaa (talk) 03:33, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
Hi. Just to be clear, I took the Spanish copyrighted source and machine translated it into English. I made a few tweaks to that English text. I cited it inline with the Spanish source. This is not OK? --- Possibly 19:58, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
That's not quite the same question is it? Everything you add to Wikipedia needs to be written in your own words, not copied from Google Translate with "a few tweaks". — Diannaa (talk) 20:00, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
Well, I am more confused than before. You could revdel the first paragraph of the "career" section here if you think it's a violation. Thanks. --- Possibly 20:11, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
I have removed the section and done revision deletion.— Diannaa (talk) 20:53, 9 September 2021 (UTC)

Reporting Isaacsorry again

I have reported this editor back in June about some copyright issue, it seems that they haven't leaned anything and still doing the same thing [2]. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 17:29, 9 September 2021 (UTC)

I'm not seeing it. Can you please give me more information? What am I missing? Thanks, — Diannaa (talk) 18:54, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
Well with this edit they added two sections only using this source, but if you don't see any issues then that's okay. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 20:18, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
Thank you, knowing what the source is is very useful. — Diannaa (talk) 20:23, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
You're welcome. Also the editor has a history of warnings and complaints by other editors regarding the lead sections, they ignore these concerns and keep doing the same thing, so this block is overdue. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 22:08, 9 September 2021 (UTC)
I would never block someone for a violation of the manual of style. It's not a policy, and not something we block for unless the disruption is extreme. I personally would not do it regardless.— Diannaa (talk) 02:09, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
Okay. TheAmazingPeanuts (talk) 02:46, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

Fix the problem. I only mention the name of Tesla products. There is no problem here.

Tesla has developed a software ecosystem to support its energy hardware products. Autobidder, Powerhub, Opticaster, Microgrid Controller and Virtual Machine Mode are the products that Tesla offers. --JShark (talk) 00:41, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

Two of your edits were listed at CopyPatrol as possible copyright violations: on Tesla, Inc.; on Tesla Energy. Click on the iThenticate links to view the overlapping content. You can see that it was more than just a list of products. — Diannaa (talk) 02:08, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
I am telling you that I have fixed the problem. Are you not supposed to think that Wikipedia editors make edits in good faith to help improve the article. Do you think that I am dedicated to destroying articles on Wikipedia? I'm just trying to improve the article. --JShark (talk) 07:25, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
Assuming good faith is a fundamental principle on Wikipedia. It is the assumption that editors' edits and comments are made in good faith – that is, the assumption that people are not deliberately trying to hurt Wikipedia, even when their actions are harmful. Most people try to help the project, not hurt it. Isn't that what wikipedia says about good faith? If I had wanted to damage the wikipedia article I would not even have placed the link to the tesla website. I have changed the reference as well. --JShark (talk) 07:33, 10 September 2021 (UTC)
The new edits are okay from a copyright point of view.— Diannaa (talk) 11:23, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi, thanks for removing/rearranging the bits of text that breached wiki/copyright rules. I Will be more careful in future. Can i get your opinion on whether the article still should have stub status? Much appreciated Koppite1 (talk) 13:33, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

It might now be considered Start-class. You could ask at one of the wikiprojects listed at the talk page.— Diannaa (talk) 13:38, 10 September 2021 (UTC)

Hi Diannaa,

I'm still working my way around on editing the Canton Fire Department wikipedia. I noticed you provided me with a copyright violation and maybe I missed where you mentioned it but I did not see where the copyright violation took place. Can you elaborate?

Aydon Castle

Dear Diannaa, I'm sorry to bother you, but I am a little troubled by the close resemblance between the History bit of our Aydon Castle article, and the text found here. At the very least, if the external site just nicked its text from us then we should not be using it as a reference (which, of course, we are) but if it is the other way round, is it too close to stay like that? I hate to be a nuisance but I'd very much appreciate your advice – I just do not have the knowledge to understand which way round this might have worked. It's a lovely little castle, by the way! Thanks and all good wishes DBaK (talk) 07:54, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

Unfortunately the page was never properly saved by the Wayback Machine, but it is dated 2019, so we will have to assume that it predates the addition to Wikipedia in March. That said, I am not seeing enough overlap to consider it a copyright violation. If you want to get a second opinion please list it at WP:CP. — Diannaa (talk) 10:34, 13 September 2021 (UTC)
Hi Diannaa. Thanks so much for looking. I am more than happy to accept your take on this. I do not feel that I need a greater expert than you, not am I convinced that one exists ... Cheers DBaK (talk) 18:23, 13 September 2021 (UTC)

Poetry

Hello,

Chang hen ge (poem) has a relatively long 9th-century Chinese poem included in full in both Chinese and English. All of that is on Wikisource (with a link in the article). I can't find a policy that says the text shouldn't be included. It that stated somewhere, or is it just a matter of editorial discretion? Thanks for your guidance. MB 16:22, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

Normally I remove it if it's already available at Wikisource. But it's not something I would insist on because as far as I know there's no hard and fast rule or guideline. — Diannaa (talk) 16:54, 15 September 2021 (UTC)
(Non-administrator comment) What is the copyright status of the translation? It's not the same translation as the one at s:Translation:Song of Everlasting Regret. --Stefan2 (talk) 17:03, 15 September 2021 (UTC)

Copyvios

Hi Dianna, Special:Contributions/91.237.86.201 has added complete or partial copyvios to several articles, three of which I've tagged for revdels at this point. If they haven't been addressed by the time you see this, could you look into them? Thanks. BilCat (talk) 20:43, 17 September 2021 (UTC)

I added a copyvio warning to their talk page, and this was the response. Thanks. BilCat (talk) 20:57, 17 September 2021 (UTC)
I will check this out but I will leave the rev-dels for other admins so as to spread the workload around a little.— Diannaa (talk) 00:06, 18 September 2021 (UTC)

New edits

Hello Diannaa, Thank you for your guidance. I'm still trying to figure out my way around. The Mexico Cannibus edits were my first, as I guess you know. My concern at that moment is that the entry was being used to promote travel to Mexico for open consumption of MJ elsewhere online. The first sentence saying that marijuana was "completely legalized" is false. Even the link given for that statement said otherwise.

It's a long story, but Mexico's Supreme Court rulings don't work like those in the USA. I'm on my phone now, but when back at the house with a bigger screen I'll make an attempt to stop a proper job of pointing out that the current status is that a person must apply for a permit from the federal govt to be able to have personal consumption and that zero mechanisms for legal sales are yet in place. Penal laws remain in place.

Those are subtleties that casual travelers should understand even if they often see open use.

Again, thank you so much for your guidance and help. Your efforts are much appreciated.

I noticed that you have deleted this page for promotional reason, I yesterday spend around 5-6 hours reading about this person to try and collect more information. i did write about this person based on information which i found on internet.

He interested me for two reason one he has done lot of charity work and he is a very well know businessman. if i was promoting him as a businessman then i would have agreed with you on reasons for which you have deleted page. I would request you to move this page to draft so that other user get chance to update this page to make it more inline with Wiki policy if you thing it violated any guideline.

I would request you consider your decision and move page to draft section. i tried my best to get reference from prominent sources souch as Gulfnews.com, arabnews.com, Zawya.com etc.

The page was already a draft, and was not in article space. I can't restore it, as there was way too much copied from the copyright source document. Dear Diannaa, thank you for your note on 21 Sept 2021 about violation of copyright. I work at a theological college in Cape Town and I added an explanation of our College Logo to our Wikipedia page recently - I am surprised that it is a violation of copyright. Please help me here as I do not want to violate copyright again. Our logo was created in the 1920's. Thanks in anticipation, Kathy NolandKathy Noland (talk) 11:11, 22 September 2021 (UTC)

My message was not about the logo; it was about text you copied from the organization's website. Regardless of the copyright status of the logo, it's not okay to copy prose from the organization's website to Wikipedia. By the way at the Commons, you stated that the logo was your own work? File:Bible Institute of South Africa LOGO.jpg. Now you say it's from the 1920s; both can't be true.

Hi Diannaa,

I've been editing my organization's page, the Ontario Association of Art Galleries. I've noticed it's being taken down by you due to copyright claims. I'm just looking for some advice because I'm not sure how to proceed. I've been tasked with updating our wikipedia page because we have also just updated our website with all of the new information, and we want the new information out there for our donors. I understand how this is copyrighted material but I also wrote the copy on the website, so I'm not sure how I go about giving myself permissions to use it since it is my own writing on the site as well. In addition, I have tried adding some of our 'history' to the page and even after I tried rewriting it so it does not resemble my writing on the website, it keeps being taken down. I'm not sure how to get around this since some of it is just facts, such as the date we were established. I was just wondering if you could give me some insight on this so I can keep our organization's information updated for our donors and stakeholders who are googling us. Thank you!

Hi Diannaa, I am new to Wikipedia. I don't know how to talk to you directly. Please bear with me if i am making any mistake or if this is not the right way to approach you.

Diannaa, I just removed the "Personal Life and Family" section from William L. Steele. The entire section had been copied word-for-word from this external article (last edited in 2018) and inserted with these edits back on August 14 of this year.

I couldn't determine whether the site was copyright protected; it is an Official Nebraska Government Website. If you think it is necessary to hide the intervening edits, please do so. Thank you. BlueMoonset (talk) 02:57, 29 September 2021 (UTC)

Ninja Dianna, I understand the need for protections and accuracy, but this is ridiculous. None of the new edits I made are copyright protected or from copyrighted sources. The information added/changed was simply to correct erroneous information (such as birthdate and place of birth). Additions were made from my own writing and first-hand knowledge. Either write some new prose that has not already been published elsewhere, or get an OTRS ticket for the material at https://paulfosterfamilyfoundation.com/paul-l-foster.html using the instructions at Wikipedia:donating copyrighted materials. — Diannaa (talk) 22:52, 30 September 2021 (UTC)

Prince Charles stream tree frog

Hi, I hope you had a good (if short) break. I have removed some hidden Spanish text from Prince Charles stream tree frog apparently copied from an earlier version of http://www.anfibiosecuador.ec/index.php?ss,Hyloscirtus&princecharlesi on 16 July 2012 and hidden on the following day. Does the text need revision deleting? I guess not after 9 years. Earwig report for 16 July 2012 version of the article before text was hidden https://copyvios.toolforge.org/?lang=en&project=wikipedia&title=&oldid=502629063&action=search&use_engine=1&use_links=1&turnitin=0 . TSventon (talk) 13:20, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the report. I have gone ahead with the revision deletion.— Diannaa (talk) 13:50, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

Where is the copyright infringement you mentioned? MacDonald is notable for being the founder and CEO of two military charities ~ Bravehound and Glen Art ~ which have helped hundreds of veterans and has raised millions of pounds for said veterans. MacDonald has also brought together many notable people in order to help these people. My very reliable sources are ~ I really don't see how I can make them any better ~ BBC, Telegraph, Scotsman, Confederation of Service Charities, Prime Minister's Office of the United Kingdom, Big Issue, Animal Hero Awards, Jewish News and the National Lottery Good CausesIndigojones666 (talk) 18:32, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

Some of the content was copied unaltered from https://www.scottishfield.co.uk/living/bravehound-charity-founder-honoured-for-her-work/ and https://www.soldieringon.org/about-us/. Those are copyright web pages. Copying from your sources is a violation of Wilikedia's copyright policy.— Diannaa (talk) 22:08, 1 October 2021 (UTC)

Copyvio help

Hi Diannaa. I found that there was a large copy/paste from here into University of Cagayan Valley. I tagged it, specifying that url. You can see in the history that 17 revisions were deleted. But the text I noticed is still there. In looking closer, that text was added back in May 2018. It still needs to be removed. Since it has been there so long, should I just remove it myself in a normal edit? Thanks. MB 02:58, 3 October 2021 (UTC)

I got it all fixed up now. Thanks for the report.— Diannaa (talk) 13:40, 3 October 2021 (UTC)
And the text is all back in the article again now. MB 06:14, 5 October 2021 (UTC)
Unfortunately they are editing using a mobile app and are therefore unable to readily find their talk page or realise that there are messages there [ see Wikipedia:Mobile communication bugs). The only way to be sure to stop them is with a block, so I have done that, and left a link to their talk page in the block message so that they can find it easily and read the message about copyright. I've left a shorter explanation too, after the block template.— Diannaa (talk) 12:35, 5 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi Diannaa, you had previously checked out potential copyvios on Vaccine passports during the COVID-19 pandemic‎, and had swept the article for unnecessary quotes, etc. There is currently (what I perceive to be) some POV pushing by User:Clemper, and I have taken a step back to call on other editors, however said user has deleted my talk attempts on their talk page. Some more eyes on the article would be appreciated. CaffeinAddict (talk) 15:15, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi Diannaa - I assume this edit was a readdition of the copyright material you rev-delled in the previous edit - I deleted it as it is totally unsourced, but may need rev-delling again. FYI that editor has been complaining about you at the Teahouse - Best wishes - Arjayay (talk) 17:50, 6 October 2021 (UTC)

I have done some more revision deletion. Thanks for the report.— Diannaa (talk) 00:29, 7 October 2021 (UTC)

Message from Longchenpa

Hi, I saw my draft of the Draft:Khenchen Konchog Gyaltsen Rinpoche article was marked for speedy deletion. I used part of the website for details not found in his bio in Jewel Ornament of Liberation, but I thought I sufficiently rewrote them. This is my second article, so I'll try again. Happy First Edit Day!

Thank you!— Diannaa (talk) 20:00, 8 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi Diannaa—I figure your advice could be helpful here. I just found User:AndyScott/sandbox, which seems to be totally fraught with copyright issues. It's not totally unsalvageable, but with that page having over 700 revisions (with some revisions from back in early 2019 also having similar issues), I feel it's unrealistic to do the remove-copyvio-sections-request-revdel dance. Is G11 applicable here, or perhaps a CP request or MFD post? It seems like it isn't the first time this user has had copyright issues, either, which is quite concerning. Perryprog (talk) 13:25, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Thanks for the report. I have deleted the sandbox and written a message to the editor. I will do some spot checks on recent article creations to see what the scope of the problem is. — Diannaa (talk) 13:50, 9 October 2021 (UTC)
Thank you kindly. Your diligence with these issues is always greatly appreciated. :) Perryprog (talk) 13:52, 9 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello. Could you cast your experienced eyes upon this article? A large number of the episode descriptions appear to be directly copied (example); I am not sure where to begin. Thanks. --- Possibly 16:43, 11 October 2021 (UTC)

There's no quick or easy way to do cleanup of episode descriptions. They will likely all have to be removed. — Diannaa (talk) 20:27, 11 October 2021 (UTC)
Hi. I rewrote (paraphrased) the episode descriptions, resulting in this earwig report. If that looks OK, could you revdel versions prior to this one? Thanks. --- Possibly 00:43, 12 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi, it looks like you weren't able to see info you removed here was sourced (and properly referenced in concerned article) from this page of official website of AJK assembly (which is infact a public domain). As there aren't any copyrights for government websites, so it's illogical to remove info sourced from gov webs, as you did. Please revisit and revert your edit on Azad Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly. Thank you. Radioactive (talk) 14:22, 12 October 2021 (UTC)

I believe you already saw my reply at User talk:Abdulhaseebatd. — Diannaa (talk) 14:27, 12 October 2021 (UTC)

I removed a lot more copyvio from that article, and United Denomination: Lighthouse Group of Churches. Pretty much all of both articles was copy/pasted. I just haven't had the time or motivation to look back to see exactly how far would need to be revdeled. Even before the copyvios I removed were in there, both articles were made up of copy/pasting from different sources instead. I don't even know where to begin in trying to see what has to be revdelled :( ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 13:45, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

I did check back a ways, and judging by the page size, the additional content you removed has been there for many years and hundreds of edits. So I only did revision deletion on the recent stuff.— Diannaa (talk) 14:05, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
Sounds good. One of the reasons I didn't look too hard was I assumed we wouldn't be revdeling the entire page history. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 14:20, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
We used to do a lot of these big rev-dels but I personally am not doing them any more. The community support for it is no longer there.— Diannaa (talk) 14:24, 13 October 2021 (UTC)
I'm inexperienced enough with copyright issues where I didn't know if mass redaction of history like that was even on the table. ScottishFinnishRadish (talk) 16:06, 13 October 2021 (UTC)

Screenshots for talk page discussions

Is it ok to take screenshots of search engine results (like this one) and post them in WP:RM discussions? They certainly provide useful information, but do they violate copyright? VR talk 14:08, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

Google's products and services are copyright. So my opinion is the screenshot is a violation of copyright. The image is on the Commons, so you might consider asking there.— Diannaa (talk) 15:01, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

Not an occupation

Hey. So I was watching something in passing ("The Absurd Failure Of Nikola Motors," recommended) and afterwards noticed the creator had a quick 4-minute piece about a 2015 scandal on Wikipedia of which I was unaware. Anyway, at 1:55, he quotes a passage by you that made me lol. Super juvenile, I know, sorry. Man, I've missed some shenanigans while hunting campers. El_C 21:52, 14 October 2021 (UTC)

OMG the Neelix affair. Drmies and I deleted thousands of titty redirects that day. The remainder of the cleanup took a year, literally. Word to the wise: Don't post your real name and photo on Wikipedia and then make thousands of baffling weird titty redirects.
By the way you made some sensible comments over at User talk:Dawnleelynn, thanks for that.— Diannaa (talk) 22:44, 14 October 2021 (UTC)
Heh, I'll try to keep that in mind, but no promises. DYK: once upon a wiki, Jiggle physics was Titty physics ({{Physics-stub}}!). Never change, 2005!
Thanks. I was originally skeptical of partial blocks, but I've grown to appreciate their role and utility. If we can provide enforcement that isn't heavy handed, I'd rather err on the side of leniency whenever possible (certainly for matters that aren't especially egregious). Copying within Wikipedia requires attribution Discussion

Hello Diannaa,

This is Francabicon here where i do notice that you ping me a message on my talk page regarding my copying within Wikipedia. So i would like to say that I'm pretty new to Wikipedia and I've just passed through by 100th edit just a few days back so I do not know much about the policies or ways of editing within Wikipedia. Yes that edit on UMNO Pages was copied directly within Wikipedia english page and yes i do want to credit the person who did the work. However, i do not know how to do it. If you don't mind can you teach me on how to do that. Thank You.

Best Regards, User talk: Francabicon

Hi Francabicon and welcome to Wikipedia. Adding the required attribution is done via the edit summary on the destination article when adding the content. Here is an example. If you forget to do it when you first add the content, you can do it in a later edit. There's more information at Wikipedia:Copying within Wikipedia.— Diannaa (talk) 12:23, 15 October 2021 (UTC)

Possible Copyvio in Disc golf in Estonia

Dianaa, thanks for the well-meaning edits on the IASMH page, but you are citing copyright policy for material that is not copyrighted (it is all in the public domain). I pulled and edited some content from the Indiana state (BSU) pages and US government (ERIC Dept of Ed report) and these are by statute in the public domain and not copyrightable.

If you would like to understand the status of copyright of government material, please consult: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_status_of_works_by_subnational_governments_of_the_United_States#Indiana https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Copyright_status_of_works_by_the_federal_government_of_the_United_States

The information was properly cited, neutral, and factual. I can further edit the bsu.edu material (which is copyrighted) to be substantially different, but the state docs and ERIC material are in the public domain. Can you please undo your revdeletions? The public domain material doesn't meet any criteria for revdels: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Revision_deletion/Oversighter

hermesfeet (talk) 00:01, 21 October 2021 (PT)

Content was copied from https://academy.bsu.edu/academics/advanced-placement/, https://academy.bsu.edu/about/, https://academy.bsu.edu/about/by-the-numbers/, https://academy.bsu.edu/about/the-academy-mission/. These are all subpages of the school's website, which is marked as copyright ©2021 The Indiana Academy / Ball State University.
There was also content from this journal article, which while it is hosted on the ERIC website, is from the Journal of Advanced Academics, and also is protected by copyright. So none of this material is in the public domain. So the answer is no, we can't host it here.— Diannaa (talk) 13:52, 21 October 2021 (UTC)

Close paraphrase question

Hi again, Diannaa. I hope all is well with you up there in AB. Anyway, do these close paraphrases need to be deleted? See here and here, which cite this tweet with only minor wording changes. Thanks. BilCat (talk) 01:23, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

And thank you again! BilCat (talk) 19:21, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

Hi Diannaa. Thank you for the heads-up on copied content on that page. However, I must note that all of the copyrighted content was added by someone else, and a small part was incompletely removed (with broken sentences) by an unregistered user with no edit summary. I had only restored this small part. What you had removed were all beyond what I actually added. Thanks. Kelven99874 (talk) 06:50, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

Yes I do see that it was originally added by someone else. You only re-added it. — Diannaa (talk) 11:15, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

Edits to Wikipedia, such as [my] edit to the page Victor Yap, may not contain material from copyrighted sources unless used with permission.

Hello. Thank you for the heads up. What does it mean for the article now? Will it be deleted? Or should I just fix it? Many thanks :) Shawlbasra (talk) 16:08, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

I have already fixed the copyright issue. I have marked the article as "reviewed" and it will likely be kept.— Diannaa (talk) 16:13, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

Recent deletion

You recently deleted my cannabis in Australia edit as copyright.

I understand it may have seen similar as large sections are direct quotes from government reports which are also cited in the material you are alleging has been copied but if you took the time to read through it I would presume you would see I had put it into my own words and there was information that wasn't even in that citation that you also deleted Politically Minded Stoner (talk) 21:33, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

Some was in your own words, but the majority was copied. Sorry but removing only the copyright material would have been too complex and would have left the article in a shambles. So I removed it all.— Diannaa (talk) 23:41, 24 October 2021 (UTC)

about claudian and statius

claudian and statius are the authors who better represent Pluto's power, status, personality, relationships with other gods and how the underworld works. My intention with the quotes was to represent him as king and guide readers to the epics he appears most in! I will make some modifications to appear more enlightening — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gilgameshkarna124 (talkcontribs) 06:19, 27 October 2021 (UTC)

I have posted on the article talk page. That's the place to discuss this.— Diannaa (talk) 14:31, 27 October 2021 (UTC)

OK! sorry for the inconvenience it was not my intention to bother — Preceding unsigned comment added by Gilgameshkarna124 (talkcontribs) 14:39, 27 October 2021 (UTC)

Make sure please that you provide citations for everything. Thanks,— Diannaa (talk) 14:40, 27 October 2021 (UTC)

Hello, unfortunately I cannot see which content you removed as comparing is deactivated for most of the revisions made on and after October 22. By removing 11.381 characters you keep the article short and incomplete, which was one of the reasons somebody has been persuing its deletion for quite a while. The The Vienna Institute for International Economic Studies is a relevant and highly regarded institution in Austria and should also be dealt with in the English Wikipedia. I am pretty sure that the institute would not object to the use of content from its own web page. Would it help to seek their formal consent? How would they have to submit it? Thanks (User:RRedlich) 15:06, 27 October 2021 (UTC) RRedlich (talk) 14:08, 27 October 2021 (UTC)
